Voila' first came to my attention several years ago when I noticed that they were the ones working the classiest events around Portland. (I am a professional musician.) One of the things that made them stand out for me was that they always made a point to set aside a tray at the end of the gig for the musicians - that kind of courtesy was unusual, and the food was amazing! Based on those experiences, I hired them to cater a fundraising event for our youth symphony, and they were great to work with in every way. They kept us within our budget and everyone raved about the food. Several years later when it came time to hire a caterer for my wedding, there was no question in my mind that I wanted Voila'. Still, my husband-to-be was living in CA, so I set up a tasting so that he could decide if he wanted to try other places, or go with them. No question - after trying the food it was Voila' all the way! I've seen negative reviews on this site. Is Jonathan opinionated? Yes, but there is good reason for that. They take their food seriously, and they have been doing this for a long time, so they know what works. Now they are also doing event rentals, and I found it to be cost-effective as well as more efficient to also order the linens and such from them that our venue did not provide. I really appreciated his input and did not find his manner off-putting. In fact, he even agreed to meet with me again when I was questioning my choices on the menu! Of course, in my field I am accustomed to strong personalities, and I don't take offense at someone who is passionate about what they do. Everything they did at the reception was STELLAR. Everything they served was scrumptious, and their excellent serving staff made sure that everything was smooth and trouble-free. Delivery/clean-up was flawless. Since they make everything to order, they do not do buffets, so if that is what you are looking for, this isn't the place for you. We had a terrible experience with them, but we put on a smile through it all...until they ultimately canceled on us with relatively short notice. While our event was just a big catered party for friends/family/neighbors, I can't imagine what is must have been like for the unfortunate couples who have crossed paths with them when trying to put together their special wedding day. Let me give some background information. I got engaged (yay!) and a few months later moved over 1000 miles, from another state, to Portland, OR. Having two older sisters who have married I know that a wedding takes a lot of experience, planning, organization, knowledge of the area/vendors, and even running of errands before and after. With all my family being at least a two days drive away I knew that I would need help. What do I do? Hire a wedding planner. Our planner is able to help me know what to do, when to do it, help figure out what vendors to check out, and help us enjoy the weekend rather than work it. When it came to caterers Voila was NOT on the short list of vendors. I had heard great things about them from a couple of sources and planned a meeting with them. The office manager, Jen, who is great, was very quick to respond to email (even on the weekend!) We met with Jen and Jonathan at their facility. Over the next 45 minutes we had a tour when Jonathan told us about everything. At this point my fiancé and I were very happy and (besides the constant name dropping and excessive story telling by Jonathan) we were almost ready to book. Next we sit down to talk specifics. They cooked a meal for us but before it comes out we are talking and looking at their photo albums. At some point in the conversation I mention that we have hired a wedding planner. This is where it goes downhill. Jonathan asks me how much we spent. I uncomfortably answer X dollars. He says, "you have wasted X dollars," and starts telling me how I am doing it wrong. If you value your time and have any self-respect, I recommend staying far away from this business. Here are some information that I (unfortunately) experience first hand at a tasting to evaluate their services: 1) Their salesman (or owner?) spent 90% of the time we were there patronizing us and speaking poorly about the competition - so rude - he really reminded me of a horrible car salesman 2) They have a mandatory policy that you must have them provide the alcohol for your party, they get really upset AND WILL TELL YOU when you inadvertently didn't see it on their website. 3) The tasting last over 3 hours (one of the worse 3 hours of my life!) 4) The food is mediocre at best and they served it cold! After going on and on about the importance of cooking onsite to serve food at the correct temperature - I've had airplane food that tasted better. Voila catered my wedding last month and also supplied the table linens and chairs for the ceremony. Worked with Jonathan and he was fantastic. He made sure we got everything we wanted and needed, plus a few special requests (including grapes for the table centerpieces). Everyone was impressed with all of the food: amazing hors d'oeurves (though the gazpacho was a bit difficult to eat out of the shot glasses), fantastic salad, and delicious salmon, potatoes and veggies. Voila Catering did such an outstanding job with catering our wedding reception. I met with Jonathan and Chef Tamara a couple of months prior to the event and was thrilled they were able to book us. I had already checked them out online and read the reviews. The website was clear about their service and I understood that I did not need a wedding planner, which was great for my budget! I wanted to keep the event simple and elegant without breaking the bank. After some discussion, we decided to have an afternoon affair with passed appetizers. We settled on linens, tables, beverages and a beautiful tent since the event was outdoors. We were able to rent everything from Voila, which was super convenient. They had a tent liner available that went in the ceiling of the tent and it was gorgeous! I highly recommend the liner. It was white like the tent with lots of gathered material and it brought in a lot of light and looked very romantic. At some point, we changed the head count by over 50 percent and I kind of stressed out that there wasn't going to be enough food. Jonathan and Chef Tamara took it all in stride and made adjustments. They assured me the guests would be satisfied and they were right. They were also able to supply live music at the last minute. I may have just been lucky to book someone at such a late time, but we booked a trio of musicians that played double reed, classical baroque and modern music. It was perfect for our garden party!! And, all the arrangements were made by Voila! So easy for me! The party went off without a hitch. The severs were polite and always quietly at hand, tending to the guests. The food was incredible!! The appetizers were prepared on site and the flow of the food was perfect. Not to mention, there was plenty of it and my guests were full! They organized the toast and cake cutting. My favorite part was watching Chef Tamara cut the cake (no cake cutting charge!). She sliced through that cake with such ease and speed that the cake was passed out, in what seemed like seconds. I was impressed and my guests didn't have to wait because trays of cake were circulating within seconds of the cutting. In the end, the place was cleaned up by the staff and leftovers were boxed up for us. The next day, I received an email asking how we enjoyed the event and where to send the refund - totally unexpected! Apparently, the party ended a little short of what they anticipated, so they are sending back a refund for the difference. I did notice a couple of negative reviews, but I'd take them with a grain of salt. First of all, they didn't even use their services, and secondly, this type of attitude is a friendly reminder to all of us brides to be gracious to everyone. Yes, it's our "special" day, but the world is not revolving around us!! Voila is unique and has a specific service they offer. If the service fits your needs, by all means, hire them!! Actually 4.5 stars...if we could. We organized a wedding in the Oregon wine country remotely from Dallas TX. The venue and a couple of people we contacted provided a few names of caterers to consider including Voila. We spoke to 3 caterers and got proposals from 2 (including Voila). We found Jonathan and his crew to be very easy and professional to work with. They were willing to work with some basic outlines (e.g., propose a healthy, Northwestern cuisine themed meal) as well as adapt to some very special requests (e.g., change the table setting colors from a to b). Their proposal was fairly priced, maybe 15 percent less than the other proposal. We actually had made reference calls and were very comfortable going with Voila. On the wedding day, they were very well prepared and executed without a hitch. The food was delicious and nicely presented. We opted for their "family style" service, which worked out great. The drinks (non-alcoholic) that they provided were excellent as well. Our catering was for 85 people btw. They provided food, brought their own stove/ovens, drinks, china/flatware & furniture. We also hired a "Day Of" wedding coordinator through Voila. Voila handled all the sub-contractors, so we did not have to have separate negotiations with them, which simplified our lives! We got a lot of compliments on the food. The only reason it's 4.5 stars (instead of 5.0) is that a small amount of cash was stolen on our wedding day from the dressing room - could have been someone from his crew but could have been from any number of other vendors, the venue or possibly a guest as well. There are so many good things to highlight. I met with other catering companies for our wedding and was recommended to Voila by a friend who used them for her wedding and I'm glad I talked to her. From the first thorough meeting to discuss likes, dislikes, wishes, menu, guest count, budget, etc it was clear they are experienced and organized. It was clear we would ultimately choose Voila. From the day we hired them until our wedding day Voila worked closely with us to really give us the wedding of our dreams. Every staff member was exceptional and professional in their roles. They handled everything we needed them to. Not just the food but rental coordination, staff, set up, staging, clean up, take down, left overs (there wasn't much), pickup, etc. We wanted a family style dinner set up on banquet tables and they made it happen. We were able to customize our look with table size, style, chairs, colors, linens, napkins, glassware and more. Voila takes pride in their business and product and it shows. With many years of experience they are able to guide you through the process and are readily available. Every question we had was quickly answered whether it by email, phone call or text. The food was exceptional! Cooked onsite at our venue, it came hot out of the ovens and to our tables. It was absolutely delicious. We continue to get compliments on our food and it's been weeks since our wedding. I'm still dreaming of our food. Voila worked seamlessly with all of our vendors and everything came together in a vision of perfection, it was just how I pictured it. I only had one interaction with Voila. I am in the process of finding a caterer for my Rehearsal Dinner in August. Sent Voila an email to their general inquery address that explained where, how many and what my initial ideas are for our event. Here is the jist of my email: "I am thinking we will need Drop off and equipment pick up only, no on site staff ... Any information you can send my way on menus and pricing would be helpful!" Here's what I was responded with : "... To provide quality food and service, all of our events require an on-site chef team and service staff. Our food is hot, fresh, and right out of the oven.... it is not available for drop off. If you are looking for drop off food, your most economical option would be a grocery store. Best Regards " RUDE. I obviously do not know much about this type of subject, and would have loved some more information and not a rude brushoff. Isn't it their job to try and sell me their food? Very unprofessional to assume I do not want quality food and to assume cost is my number one concern. I am offended by the suggestion to go to the grocery store, this is a special day for me. You want Steelhead so delicious that your guests might fight each other for the last piece? This is your caterer. Johnathan was there from first meeting to wedding day, and he has a real eye for which details to stress, and which details you don't need to stress about. His style makes for pain-free planning. Johnathan was great about snagging our cupcake delivery ("If we leave them out the guests will graze before you even get to the cake cutting.") Bringing me a lovely glass of wine and bottle of water before my march down the aisle, and making sure I had a lovely salad for lunch between photos before the ceremony. A+ service The dinner itself? Amazing. A friend of ours who did catering himself warned us about salmon at weddings being a dry, mealy disaster due to the logistics of 100+ people. Voila did it, and did it well. We had no Steelhead leftovers. Considering the long list of food allergies our guests had (A vegan, 5 odd paleo dieters, allergies to buckwheat, apricots, gluten, soy, cinnamon, cilantro and tomatoes...) the fact that there was something tasty for everyone was a feat in and of itself. All Around Amazing. NOTE: In response to the negative reviews... While some email responses may seem harsh, listen to them! My husband and I were slightly concerned but come to find out, Jonathan, Tamara, and Voila staff really know what they are doing! When they tell you no or give advice, it is because they have had over a decade in experience in the catering business. Dear One Star Reviews: Voila and Jonathan do not need to try to sell you their food... It is so good that they don't need to and know that even without your business their weekends will be filled with weddings. You should really have tried them! The entire experience with Voila was amazing. We started by going to the catering location in SE Portland. We met with Jonathan and were blown away by the experience. It was so much better than all of the other caterers we went to see. We made a rough sketch of the wedding timeline and menu. Jonathan gave us their homemade lavender limeade and iced tea. We were impressed and so went and tried their food at Cafe Voila before deciding (for certain) on them to cater our wedding. The food was superb! (I have since gone back to the cafe for lunch). We decided to use Voila Catering for our wedding. Jonathan communicated well with us throughout the entire ten months of planning and the day of everything was executed perfectly! Voila Catering helped to make our wedding a fairytale moment. Everything was perfect, with much thanks to them! The food was delicious and service impeccable. When it comes to weddings, you start with the idea that you can keep it simple. Unfortunately even when you try for simplicity... there is nothing simple about planning a wedding. Initially we thought just a few people, in a garden--or maybe the back yard? But with good food. Really good food. What came about was a classy and elegant time for 60 guests at Leach Botanical Gardens with Voila's chef cooking on site, serving our family style meal, and hosting the bar. Our guests said it was the best wedding they'd ever attended. This is in part thanks to Voila catering, who took care of not only the food, but also the coordination between vendors, decorating, setting up, and making things easy on the bride (me). I work 50 hours a week and am very busy outside of work as well; Voila made it easy for me at every step. They are prompt communicators through both email and phone always accommodating--the detail in their estimates was exactly what i was looking for and helped me with budgeting. Voila's beautiful food and unique offerings were just what we wanted (how many people get to serve Wild Boar appetizers to start?). We had a great time and I would not have changed a thing... and when it was all over, there was nothing for me to do but change my clothes and go--Voila did the rest. When hiring a caterer, it may help to make a detailed list of what you want going in, and don't visit caterers that are not within your budget or what you are looking for as far as scope. I recently attended a wedding (at Bridal Veil Lakes) in which Voila Catering took care of, what appeared to be, everything. The minute I tasted one of the appetizers that were being passed, I knew all of the guests were in for a treat. It didn't seem that any detail went overlooked and it made for an absolutely phenomenal experience. Having been to 8 weddings so far this summer, I can easily say that the service and quality provided by Voila Catering was top-notch. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and seemed thrilled to have been a part of my friend's special day. I contacted Voila catering to inquire about catering for my wedding at a private residence next summer. I have already hired a bartender and plan on providing my own beverages and some hors d'oeuvres. I asked to set up a consultation meeting, but didn't receive a response for over a week after a few quick emails back and forth. I followed up today and got the following response, verbatim: "I'm sorry, but you have contacted the wrong catering service. Our website clearly indicates that all beverage services are planned, managed, and provided by our team. Our chef team does not offer "selections of cheeses, meats, veggies and fruits." I understand if you don't want my business, but that was a completely unprofessional and condescending message to send to a potential client. So I guess you aren't interested in providing rental tables, glassware, flatware, linens, etc. It's going to be a beautiful wedding without your negativity and elitism. read more

I had read some pretty bad reviews about Voila Catering just not being good at communicating with potential clients, but I wanted to still pursue them as a caterer for my upcoming wedding and give them a chance. (After all, their menu looked outstanding!) I wrote a very detailed email stating all of my needs/wants, my estimated head could of about 100 people, etc. I graciously asked if they would consider my event. I also made it a point in my email that they were at the top of my list for caterers, so if this was something that they would not be willing to do for me, to please let me know so that I could move forward with another catering service. Two and a half weeks went by and I heard nothing. I wrote another email, and still nothing. I finally called them, just to see what the deal was, and I was told that they couldn't do my event because I didn't need a beverage service, which they require. I DO NEED a beverage service, just not a bartender, and I made that clear in both emails as well as my phone conversation. They still would not consider my event. I was also told that my venue didn't have adequate kitchen space, which is a GOOD reason to deny an event request, but because I didn't need a bartender?? Pair that with never even making an attempt to contact me after I reached out multiple times is just BAD customer service. How can I trust someone with such a huge responsibility (the food!) on our special day if they can't even send a quick response via email? Over two weeks of silence really started this potential caterer off on the wrong foot. Portland is such a foodie city, there are many options. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time on Voila Catering. I honestly can't say enough good things about Voila and their team. I'd love to do an event in Portland again just to be able to hire them...and of course enjoy their wonderful food. Run down of the basics: 1. The food is amazing. Beyond that, it is distinctive enough to impress foodies, but not scare off the less adventurous. Further beyond that, the presentation is beautiful and makes the food look even more appetizing, yet not fussy. 2. They were a great partner. I didn't feel like they gave me just a standard package out of a catalog, but rather put together a menu that was specific to my needs (I was looking for something that felt local, but not standard or boring). They also offered suggestions & tweaks to what i originally thought i wanted based on their experience in the area and my budget. 3. Efficient and timely. We had a tight set-up window, and even tighter set-up/staging space, they were able to make all work flawlessly. 4.The serving staff were all nice, helpful, courteous, etc. 5. this is a duplicate review of the one I posted for Voila on SE 14th, which is where I met Jonathan and Tamara initially. Imagine my confusion when I see it listed as SW Washington St. The two initial reviews by Megan M and Samantha H could be off-putting. I have a much higher opinion of Voila Catering, who worked planning the reception for my daughters wedding. Voila made it a turn key event. All I had to do was show up on time, dressed and ready for her wedding.For a big day like a wedding, that is what should happen. Jonathon and Chef Tamara are professionals, which was evident as we planned the reception,discussed options, possibilities and costs. I rated Voila at 4 stars instead of 5 because of costs. This is my first time both walking a daughter down the aisle, and hiring a caterer. I really don't have anything to base my assumptions of what things SHOULD cost, so it is strictly opinion. Before you hire ANY caterer, I think its helpful to set a budget so you can at least have a measurement to judge by. I didn't do that. However, I am very pleased with Voila. With food preparation and rentals, and Jonathans insight, I believe our guests were pleased and enjoyed themselves. My daughter and her new husband certainly did. My wife and I were pleased that we didn't have to spend any time insuring things went well: Voila had us covered. All we had to do was enjoy the day. read more

I can't imagine my wedding without Voila's food and services! They not only cooked a fresh amazing meal but provided event planning services that really made the wedding great. Voila uses all fresh ingredients and and cooks the meals on site. Before the wedding they provided me with a schedule of the day including their staff schedule and a venue map with timeline of the day. The morning of my wedding Jonathon provided me with all the guidance I needed to not be stressed, when I needed water or champagne he had it ready for me! I will use Voila for any event I can think of in the future and would recommend them with full confidence to anyone. Dear friends recently decided to get married, and I offered the use of my garden as a venue. Since they didn't want to get mired down in over-planning, they set a date only 2 months out. They looked at several companies, but liked Voila's holistic approach of supplying so many of the services. As the expert on the venue, I went along on the initial planning meeting, where I met Jonathan. I was so delighted that my friends had chosen someone so obviously experienced and professional! I have hosted other large parties in the garden, and we all discussed options for where to set up various parts of the event. Jonathan asked great questions, keeping the focus on the feel the couple wanted, and giving them wonderful guidance . The next day, Jonathan came out to my property, to measure and plan. We determined that the ceremony would be on the back deck, the cocktail hour would be in the side garden, and the dinner would be most dramatic served on a single long banquet table for 60, with the wedding couple at the head, looking down the row at all their assembled friends and family. It was a wonderful layout that the couple adored. Since the cooking all happens on site, and the couple wanted a fun event, Jonathan determined that the best solution was to set up the kitchen in the street, right in front of the house! The guests loved this slightly irreverent touch. After the wedding couple settled on the menu (colorful, local, seafood based) the service style (passed platters family style), and the color scheme (coral, gold and cream)Jonathan sent a fantastically detailed schedule for the set up. On the day of the wedding, the crew arrived right on time and quickly got to work. Some things were a tight fit, but the crew did a little troubleshooting and got everything working. I watched as folding chairs, banquet tables, linens and plates seemed to just fly into place. Details like taping down cords, shimming tables on uneven surfaces and allowing comfortable clearance areas were all attended to. I felt completely relaxed. All I needed to do was place the flowers down the center of the table. When my friends arrived to get dressed, they were moved to tears, amazed at how beautifully and easily everything had come together. Everything was in place when the guests began to arrive. Jonathan even made a point of having quiet time in the kitchen, so no clanking pan would interrupt the ceremony (now that is thoughtful!) Passed hors d'ouvres and drinks set a delicious tone, and they kept the tasty coming! Service was absolutely seamless, with servers who were consistently friendly and efficient, but unobtrusive. Nothing threw them for a loop- and if it did, it sure didn't show! Candles were magically lit as dusk fell, cake slices appeared in a beautiful array, chairs appeared where they were needed, and disappeared where they were not. Their bartender was charming ,plus, you only get charged for the bottles that are opened! As the evening wound down, I was perhaps most impressed by how considerate breakdown was. Jonathan and Chef Tamara (plus second Chef Nick) obviously know what they are doing. Our event was a 50th wedding anniversary party. The venue was the Holy Names Heritage Center in Lake Oswego. From the first day when we met Jonathan and Tamara to the conclusion of the party everything went like clockwork. Our first meeting included a tasting of recommended dishes. That was a very important day. We had tasted at other caterers and they seemed reluctant to do that without a deposit or some kind of commitment. Not Voila! Voila catered our September wedding and also supplied the table linens. We were impressed with Voila's business model from day 1, when the served us a delicious meal at meeting number one. Other caterers refused to even let us TASTE anything until we'd put down a deposit. Jonathan is extremely thorough and make sure that absolutely every duck is in its proper row. It was very reassuring since we didn't have a wedding coordinator, and everything went off without a hitch. He was able to add a last-minute tent to our order when we found out our day was supposed to be a scorcher! The true star of the event was Tamara (the executive chef) and her phenomenal food. My husband and I recently used Voila Catering for our wedding reception at the Rose Garden Amphitheater. Voila was wonderful, not only was the service excellent but the food as delicious as I'd hoped for also. Our guests were very impressed with the food and everyone had a good time. We got so many compliments, and the waiting staff and Tamara were so professional and friendly, it really felt like a polished, elegant party which is exactly what we had hoped for. I know in some of the reviews people complain about Jonathan being opinionated, but honestly his opinions were correct on the big day, and I was glad we went with most of his suggestions. Something as simple as his suggestion to order off white table linens instead of pure white so that the sun didn't blind our guests reflecting off the linens. On the day of, the sun was very bright, and off white was certainly bright enough, I was so glad we went with his suggestion. I was worried they wouldn't look white enough, but they looked great. They really know their business. Lot's of simple suggestions like that really made a difference in how enjoyable the day was, and how smoothly it went. I was also really impressed with how tolerant Jonathan and Tamara were of my husband and I changing our minds or adding in new things right up to last minute. They were very polite and had excellent service in this regard. They helped us deal with last minute hiccups with solutions that worked wonderfully. They also allowed us to bring in a special kind of soda we wanted and coordinated a lot of extra things with other vendors that we needed, so that we didn't have to think about those extra things and could just enjoy the day. I was very pleased and my husband also so glad we chose Voila, we will use them again if we have a big event. Jonathan and his team at Voila catering and event planning do a stellar job! I was a bride who didn't have a vision of the most perfect wedding and hadn't dreamed of it since I was a young girl. What i did know is that i wanted amazing food, fun had by all and a day that would be forever special. Voila catering delivered on all accounts!! Plus, they helped with many of the little details id never thought of! The food voila provided was one of the highlights of our wedding! Jonathan and his team cook the meals on site, so they are fresh, warm and delicious, not over cooked or dry. Every single guest LOVED there meal. He even offered vegetarian and vegan options for our guests. (At no extra fee) The weeks leading up to the wedding the forecast was a perfect 75 and sunny. However, in true Oregon fashion, 2 days prior to the wedding the temperature took a turn for the wet :( As a bride this was the last thing I wanted to think about and deal with. Jonathan had us in to his business the morning we found out about the weather. He weighed the tent, no tent, or just umbrella options it with my fiancé and I for a least an hour. When we still had not mad a decision he kindly asked if we'd like some breakfast. Generously, he went to the back, and made us breakfast as we continued to stew on the idea of what to do. We finally decided on a tent and with only 48 hours notice Jonathan was able to secure a tent rental and have schedule delivery to our venue. Talk about customer service!! There is not a thing I would change about my wedding day and yes, partly because I planned for months and did my research. But, mainly because Jonathan and the voila catering and event panning took care of all the heavy thinking! They planned, organized and executed the perfect wedding for my husband and I. Voila Catering could not have been more helpful and friendly in assisting us in planning our wedding with just two months notice. While Voila's website and FB page show many larger and more elegant events than our 60-guest wedding, we found that Jonathan and Chef Tamara made us feel well cared for, both in the planning stages and on the day of the event. After our first meeting Jonathan sent a multi-page plan and detailed price breakdown for the event, both of which made us feel like Voila was not going to let any details slide. They also sent a list of dozens of menu options, all of which sounded delicious; it made our menu-planning process very enjoyable and creative. On the day of the wedding we woke up feeling strangely relaxed since the Voila team had taken care of all the details and set-up. Other reviewers were annoyed that Voila does not work with event planners; honestly, I don't know why you would need one in addition to the Voila staff. The whole day went off without a hitch. Several guests commented afterward about how considerate and friendly Jonathan and the staff all were. Finally, the food was completely delicious and beautiful from start to finish. We had four different hors d'oeuvres, a salad, soup, and entree with two vegetables, and everything was outstanding. They prepared steelhead filets on-site that were moist and tender, accompanied by a sauce that was somehow both nicely rich and light at the same time. You've never heard so many raves about broccolini in your life. Side note, the food prep happened in partial view of us and our guests and throughout the event the staff all looked calm and well-organized, which is reassuring when you are getting married and have other things on your mind. By the way, it's a bummer that we same-sex couples have to be concerned about possible bad vibes from wedding vendors, but no need to worry about that with Voila. That was so not an issue. We booked with Voila Catering for my daughter's wedding and they were absolutely amazing! The evening ran very smoothly and everything turned out perfectly thanks to Jonathan, Chef Tamara, and their team. Jonathan would come and let me know ten minutes before the next part of the wedding would come up (i.e. we will be serving appetizers in ten minutes, or we will be starting the cake cutting in ten minutes). I'm so regret I didn't read Luana's review before I talk to them. I hate to bitch about anyone but really really want to share how bad the experience could be with them. 1. The smaller guest number you have, the less respect you will receive. In my case, with the cutting down of guest number from 80 to 65, no respect at all in the end. 2. they don't want any feedback from client. It seems they're just so proud on what they do and either you take whatever they offer you on menu and price or you will be just humiliated! As a matter of fact, we were late booking our holiday party, and they were already busy on the day we wanted, so we changed the date, because everyone wanted them. I can't give enough stars!!! My husband and I had a small wedding at the Old Church in Portland with 32 guests. Jonathan was amazing! He treated our event as if it was for the president himself! They took care of everything for us, setting up tables, lighting candles, moving decorations, setting up the sound system... Absolutely amazing! We were on a tight schedule but were able to eat, dance, celebrate and clean up in plenty of time without feeling rushed! They were at the church on time and got everything set up beautifully! The food was... Out of this world! Guests are still raving about the dinner and service! His team treated us with nothing but love and kindness and became part of our family! Jonathan was there when some pictures were being taken, he smiled and complemented me like I was family! Jonathan will take charge in a good way... He knows what he is doing. Some things I suggested he added or moved around so that the overall experience would be so much better! As every bride, I had last minute changes but even then there was nothing but excitment from him to make my dream come true! I highly recommend them and will use them again for our future events! This business catered my son's wedding. This review is not a rant but I hope will help folks in making a decision. I have read the other reviews and most of the 1 Star reviews speak to the inept social skills of the owner Jonathan Goodrow. This is entirely true. He is very rude and not only insulted a lady who was a friend of the wedding party but the groom as well. He may respond to this and say people were "breaking the alcohol rules". Problem is no one communicated the process and his way of handling these issues was totally unacceptable. He was asked to apologize to the lady for his actions and refused until the bride's father finally gave him an ultimatum. Even then, his apology was "I'm sorry But"....Chef Tamara, you have been in business for 16 years and your revenues are still very low according to your public filings.. Your partner is the reason why. Listen to what all of the people with negative reviews have to say. It's true. The food was mediocre at best. You advertise cooking on site but your staff showed up with the food in warming cabinets and after 4 hours before serving, the chicken was dry and so was the Polenta. You only offered one choice of salad dressing. The servers were professionally dressed and courteous, however every time someone got up from their table to visit, dance or go to the bathroom the servers were grabbing people's unfinished wine and beer and pouring them out. When they returned to their table, they had to make another trip to the bar. The appearance of this seemed to be motivated by wanting to sell the wedding party more bottles of wine and beer as this is how you charged. No one is perfect but I cannot recommend this caterer simply because of Jonathan's behavior. The way he handled himself was totally unacceptable; no excuse is valid. The lady he insulted mentioned she had never been treated like that in her entire life. Chef Tamara needs to get this guy off premise if you want to grow the company. read more

Voila Catering catered my daughter's wedding last August. The event was held at Bridal Veil Lakes in the Columbia River Gorge and it was wonderful. I can't say enough about the delicious food and fabulous service. Tamara, Jonathan and the entire staff were professional, efficient and delightful to work with. The food was local, seasonal and plentiful. Jonathan was always very prompt previous to the event in responding to any questions my daughter had for him. They were also very familiar with the venue which helped tremendously. I would HIGHLY recommend them for your catering needs. I really appreciated the fact that we did not have to have a wedding planner at the site on the day of the wedding. I've noticed that some people were annoyed with this. To me it was a huge savings.
