This review is based on our flight experience from Guadalajara to Los Angeles. Hubbers and I waited for them to do a last call for boarding since the FIFA World Cup Final was still on with only minutes left. We were hoping the game would have been done by the time we left the bar we came from but... ... so, we got into our seats. Like other passengers, they were curious how the game was going so any of them streamed the game on their phones. As our plane pulled back and waited for further instructions, Spain scored. And the plane went wild. But there was still a few minutes, I noticed our plane moved so slowly across the tarmac. I'm not sure if this was deliberate, but the game ended before we took off with Spain taking the big prize. Everyone in the flight were in cheers, and someone even yelled, "Thank you to the pilot!" in Spanish. We all laughed it up and applauded. If it was deliberate, he had a whole flight appreciating it. An hour into the 3+ hour flight, I felt like a snack. I've been nothing but curious about the cup-o-noodle combo. (It's popular, I've seen many people order this on each Mexico flight I've been on.) So I got it mainly out of curiosity. Eh. It was alright. It got too salty in the end. Good thing for the Sprite as it tamed that down. Not a fan, overall, but at least I'm curious no more. The plus side is they give you a Wi-Fi password with your order. It's too bad the signal was choppy. Hit and miss at best. The flight was okay overall. It was smooth for the most part. We were comfortable. But the best thing out of it: we didn't have to wait to arrive to LAX to find out who won the world cup. Volaris airline checkin staff will not help you with your carry on luggage if security staff decides to deny their own flight regulations. The security and the check in disagreed with whether we were allowed to take our computer as a carryon. Cost us so much money and stress to pay last minute to check in the computer as luggage instructions of carry on. Ignored the fact that computers are clearly allowed as carry on. Poor communication....being shuffled around is not the way I want to start my vacation. Staff at desk tells us that our seats were changed from 2A to 19row (connecting flight to Guadalajara) and then again to Cancun. We were separated and sat further back of the plane. We checked in like were suppose to and we get this done to us. We play by the rules. We then had to wait in the plane's aisle area for approximately 10 minutes until a stewardess was able to figure stuff out. We were then given seats separately. 1/14/26 flight 1017 to Guadalajara 1147pm 1/15/26 flight 1052 to Cancun 608a Volaris, get your system straightened out, stop overbooking and trying to get others to buy our seats at higher rate. Terrible flight experience -- never again. The seats on Volaris are extremely uncomfortable and packed way too close together. You're basically sitting on top of the person in front of you. The cabin was unbearably hot, and the air conditioning did not seem to be working at all, which made the flight miserable. The food options were very disappointing -- just peanuts and cookies that looked like something you'd buy at OXXO (a low-budget version of 7-Eleven), yet overpriced. This airline is seriously overrated. I will never book a flight with Volaris again. P.S. They even try to upsell seats at a higher price after you've already paid for your seat. My flight was delayed by 5 hours flight 1292 12/19/2025 and what made the situation even worse was the lack of communication and support from customer service. Despite the long wait, representatives seemed indifferent to the passengers' concerns. We were left in the dark about the reasons for the delay and given no updates or assistance. This lack of care and professionalism was incredibly frustrating and made for a very unpleasant travel experience. Given the circumstances, I expected much better service from an airline. I hope Volaris takes steps to improve their customer service and communication in the future. First the lines are the longest lines I've ever seen in my life at an airport. Download the app and just check in if you only have carry one. They seem to be a little slow and careless. I'm a retired veteran of 24 year's service. I have flown all over the world and have used multiple airlines. Volaris has to be the worst airline I have ever flown on. I am only writing this because I have given this airline multiple attempt's to redeem itself, only to fail every time. The first time my wife and I were flying back from Guadalajara MX and at ticketing we were charged extra due to our luggage being over weight. Even though we were under the 54 lb weight limit when we started our trip. On the return trip Volaris changed our weight limit to 45 lbs max. It was $150 for each luggage. It didn't make sense, why would I start my trip with 50 lbs and then return home with less weight!? We did another trip to MX and used Volaris. One of our large pieces of luggage was damaged. I'm not too worried about that. I understand that can happen. But, then we did another trip to MX and we used a different piece of luggage that had a hard shell, so as not to get damaged. We also made sure the luggage was under the weight limits, and we insured the weight limits were at 54 lbs for the way over and the way back. My wife and I had one each as well as a carry on and a small backpack. First of all, our flight got delayed by 6.5 hours which was annoying but we were promised a voucher to compensate us for our lost time (still haven't seen a voucher and am currently waiting to board for our return flight). Anyways, we get to ticketing again and the guy at ticketing breaks out a tape measure and begins measuring our hard shelled luggage. He says it's too tall and that we would be charged an extra $100 per oversized piece (x 2 = $200). My wife argued that it was the same luggage that we departed with and had no issues coming over to MX but now it's an issue returning to the USA. Managers came over and they wouldn't budge on their height restriction. So we coughed up another $200. Now I'm sitting in the food court waiting to board, praying I can get home with all my luggage. Shocker! The ticketing guy sent us to the wrong gate. lol read more

Today I went to go check my bag in and the lady at front desk said no it was not necessary that I could take it on top of the airplane. when I go to board they tell me no I have to go back outside the airport to check in the bag because it was not allowed. When I finally get back to the desk I explain that my flight is leaving and I need to check in the bag that they said I didn't so they told me to wait and made me stand there for 20 min. When I finally get back the airplane was there but doors were closed and they left without me . All of this while carrying my luggage's and 1 yr old son . This airline can be good or bad, depending on your circumstances. They are a great option if you are packing light, and you know solidly that there will be no changes in your itinerary. However, if you have to change the date and/or time of your flight after you've bought a ticket, then you're going to have a heck of a time dealing with them. In previous times, I've booked flights for myself or for other people. One time, I had to change the passenger name from another person's to my own name. This was with no other changes to the itinerary. The surcharge for this change was $50. Another time, I had to change the date and time of my flight. After talking with the customer service rep, I realized that I was far better off just buying a new ticket. A third time, I bought a plane ticket for someone on their app. I clearly put this person's name as the passenger for this ticket. When this person received the confirmation email, this person told me that the passenger name was listed as mine. I called to correct this, and they proceeded to charge me for this change, despite the fact that I had screenshots proving that I indeed put the other person's name as the passenger. In short, they are very shady if you need to make a change to the itinerary. Now for the positive note. This last spring, my girlfriend and I took a trip to Guadalajara. On our way back, we ended up missing our flight due to a longer-than-usual car ride to the airport (thank you, road construction). I thought I was going to have to buy new tickets, which made me worry if any were available for that same day. Fortunately, Volaris has an option for this exact circumstance. I had to pay a fee, and we were guaranteed to fly out the same day. While this came with a 10-hour delay, we were back home by the end of that day. For this, I will give them some kudos. The journey home was ok in itself. The food was a disappointment, which consisted mainly of snack trays. They had coffee, but I didn't have any as I slept throughout the flight. The customer service was ok, nothing stellar but nothing bad, either. This airline does indeed nickel-and-dime customers. They advertise one price, but that price can double or triple, depending on how comfortable you want to travel. So don't expect to travel well on this airline on a budget. Also, we very wary of having to make changes to your itinerary, as they will make you jump through many hoops, and charge you for it. read more
