DO NOT TRAVEL WITH YOUR PET ON THIS AIRLINE. The requirements for air travel in Mexico are always difficult, but we have only ever had trouble with Volaris and we fly 1-2 times a year internationally with our dog. I honestly suspect that the counter staff are trained to look for any excuse to prevent you from making it onto your flight. We had a health certificate and vaccine records for our dog, along with the completed inspection paperwork from SENSAICA from our arrival into the US. In fact another airline representative for a connecting flight commented on how we had so much paperwork for our dog. However, Volaris rejected us once and then almost rejected us a second time for completely different reasons. The regulations on their end are not standardized so it is up to the desk agent/manager to decide what is required and what documents they will accept. Overall might be fine if you are flying without a pet and have no complications, but otherwise I would not recommend and they are definitely not pet friendly. read more

I mostly write reviews if I have a really great experience, or a very poor one. Unfortunately, this was the latter as it was the worst experience flying I've ever had. I wish I had checked their horrible reviews before buying tickets, but who knows, I may have thought they couldn't be that bad or it wouldn't happen to me. I was travelling to Cancun with my wife and was lured in by potential savings by taking a flight that had a 1h layover in Jalisco. The first plane arrived 30m late and by the time we boarded a shuttle from the plane to the airport, gone through security, and headed to the gate, the second plane had gone. We pleaded with them twice at the counter asking to at least be put on standby for a later flight only to be treated disrespectfully and blamed for missing the flight. We called customer service and were also told they could do nothing for us. Our only option was to buy two new tickets (with a different carrier after all this of course!). This was a horrible start to an otherwise beautiful vacation in Cancun. I will definitely be sticking with an American airline next time. read more

We flew Volaris between Seattle and Guadalajara (in both directions) and had no issues whatsoever. We were able to take advantage of online check-in (we had no checked bags--it was a very short trip and we travel light) and were able to get through security as well as board the plane using just our mobile boarding passes. Paying for the seats with extra legroom was well worth it--for an additional $25 a person, you get an insane amount of legroom. Furthermore, our flight landed early in both directions! Go into your trip knowing that you will be charged extra for *anything* extra, and you'll be fine. If not, you'll end up paying more than the base ticket price, and you'll definitely be upset about it (as most other reviewers here were). read more

I used Volaris to go on vacation and my experience has been horrible, I get that the translation from Spanish to English isn't easy, but the employees were flat out just rude when I couldn't explain to them well enough in my English that I need them to help me find my gate, I missed my flight because they put the wrong gate on the app where you check in, and I was sitting patiently at the wrong gate, 10 minutes before my flight I hear that the plane is leaving over the intercom, and confused I rush to ask a Volaris employee only to be shunned off because they are too busy talking to eachother!!! So I had to BUY a new flight (a 40 minute flight) and re check all of my stuff. This process was so frustrating and almost ruined my day honestly. The employees here suck and aren't helpful, the app is garbage and barely works, and the actual flight and plane itself is very out dated. This airline is the WORST in the Mexican airline industry, they sell you a seat when you book a ticket with them. (you have to choose 1and you have to pay for choosing it.) We had a trip to Mexico City from Mexicali, and we had to pay $120 pesos for not having the boarding pass on the Volaris app, I asked days before the trip if I could fly with an oxygen tank due to my health condition and they said yes, they were to be placed in the cargo area, well at the time of the trip; nope they said NO. I wanted to place my carry-on baggage under the cargo area and to do this they wanted $1800 pesos! The supervisor on duty was rude and very unprofessional! I know the employees have nothing to do with how Volaris does business, unfortunately, they are the ones we have to express our anger to. I would give a ZERO star, but if I do I would not be able to post my comment. Unfortunately, Mexico does not have several airlines to choose from, so I will do my best not to use Volaris at all. We made reservations 2 months in advance. For 4 people. To travel back from Guadalajara on Monday to Ontario, CA Airport. The day before traveling they send a text to check your email. We check the email and they canceled our flight to fly back on Tuesday. We tried calling no answer. We even went to the Ontario airport and no one was there. We fly from Ontario to Guadalajara in AA airlines. We get another text from Volaris and we can't open the email. We go to try to talk to someone and they tell us their system is down and they can't help us. We finally get a hold of someone on the phone. They change our flight back to Monday. After being on the phone for almost an hour they cancel our flight again. And they tell us that they don't have flights to go to Ontario only LAX. We paid more to fly to Ontario and they can only give us a 25% discount for another flight in the future. I will NEVER fly Volaris again. And I don't recommend it. Volaris is one of the worst airlines, I'd advice anyone to stay away from them and not waste your money. Top most unprofessional airline. They made it so hard for me to fly with my pet. If you're traveling with a pet *don't use this airline* they're overpriced and shady about the measurements of the kennels. I traveled with my cat from Las Vegas to Guadalajara and when I was trying to go back they didn't let me go on the day of my flight because my cats carrier was fabric and not plastic. They never specify that the fabric ones is only for dogs, they also never specify when you're checking out you have to choose a seat all the way to back of the plane and don't specify which one is the option to have the pet with you on the plane as well. The measurements for the kennel are crazy small, I've been struggling to find a kennel in that size for a few days now, because it's so little. I am taking the time to express my great dissatisfaction with my family's experience while flying with the Volaris Airline. I am responsible for purchasing and organizing my mother's flight during her vacation, which was September 2nd, returning flight scheduled for September 21st. During the time I spend researching flights to Guadalajara MX from Chicago, I kept in mind to schedule direct flight each way, despite the increase in cost incurred. The reason is because my mother is 64 years old who has had both her knees replaced. She required a direct flight and that is what I confirmed when I purchased her flight ticket. On the way to Guadalajara, all went well and she made it safety to our family. Thank you for that flight and that experience. However, on the return, she went to the Guadalajara airport to catch a 7:15pm scheduled flight that apparently did not exist. She had a reservation that was not kept or respected by the Volaris airline. We were never notified of the change until she stepped up to the ticket counter to check in. The airline had our contact email and phone number that would have made us accessible. But we received no communication about the change. My mother was made believe that she was mistaken about her reservation despite showing the ticket counter a screenshot of her reservation. Other patrons who complained at the same ticket counters over the exact same reason must have put up a better fight than my mother because she witness how a group of 5 women were put on a direct flight with sister airline, Mexicana Airlines. In addition, she witness how other patrons received food vouchers for their itinerary disruption. Meanwhile, my mother did not receive so much as an apology. My mother is not the kind of person who would behave belligerent in public, oh how I do regret not being by her side to advocate on her behalf. She was put on a flight that had a 6 hour lay over in Mexico City, only 2 days after a major earthquake, which not only did it make it undesirable for anyone to be there, it was also unsafe. She was hungry, she was tired, and she received no apology for the unprofessional flight service. You can be sure that I will never reserve any flight with Volaris airline again and will be sure to let everyone we know about our experience with the airline. I suggest that if Volaris Airlines sells a flight ticket, they also inform people that their flight is subject to be changed without any notification, unless you purchase for additional amount the flight insurance . Evidently, that was necessary to insure that my mother actually keep her direct flight. Another tip she picked on her 6 hour lay over in Mexico City from another one of Volaris patrons.
