    Pickled mustard greens and pickles
    Mike C.

Amazed that I've never reviewed this business. I've been buying their offerings for years at the Saturday Ferry Farmer's Market. Starting with their basic kimchi, I've grown to enjoy their wider variety of vegetables in recent years. My favorite is the smokeshow (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=4wSbOqyH3Im2yYVyw17N9A&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), made with regular cabbage as opposed to the traditional Napa cabbage. They also offer cucumbers in a regular pickling juice as well as the traditional kimchi marinade. Recently, I tried the pickled mustard greens and pickles (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=a7_vGmgWZJ5epzP_JejvGA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); this was a nice change of pace. I will likely get this again but my lean is towards the spicier items. Big thanks to Lisa for explaining the various items that they carry. My friends and I appreciate having options and your non-traditional take on this Korean food classic.

    So full!

Haven't been to the storefront yet, but I frequent their booth at the Ferry Building every Saturday! They usually will offer a sample of sorts, which is so fun. I adore their jicama kimchi & always try to keep a jar in the fridge. They do cool events at the storefront on Saturdays... definitely check them out!

They sell unique style kimchi like mango and bok choy. I enjoyed both and will definitely purchase from them again.

I love everything she makes but my favorite is the classic napa cabbage kimchi and jicama kimchi.

The rustic/home style decor was very welcoming and it seemed that a lot of the folks knew the cashiers/barista! Some people even stopped by just to say hi and welcome back the barista that was on leave for a bit. I forget his name, but he was a lovely person to chat with! I ordered a Breakfast Burrito with Carne Asada ($12) and an iced latte with Oat Milk ($6). It took ~15-20 for my burrito but the latte came out within five minutes and was made fresh with Portrero Trade Operations coffee beans! While waiting, I ended up buying a bag of coffee beans with flavor notes that were so unique- "cola, tomato, and herbaceous". For $25 you get a whole pound of coffee beans, which most only offer 12oz now. Get a bag while you can! The breakfast burrito was served with one green and one red salsa plus a small bag of chips. The burrito was decently sized and very juicy. I was a bit sad to see that the cheese wasn't melted inside, but the fresh pico de gallo inside totally made up for it. The carne asada had a great bite to it and everything was seasoned well. The salsa verde was absolutely stunning. Not too acidic and just the right amount of spice to go with my burrito. I ordered for takeout, but next time I'm in the area I'm definitely going to consider dining in for the full experience.

The staff was nice enough and the ambience was much better than I expected based on the outside. The menu feels random but normal enough. They have your staples. I started with the fried brussels sprouts. They had a nice flavor to them, but a lot of pieces were flat out burnt. Honestly, I was too hungry to complain about it so I just ate it. I had enchiladas for my entree. They somehow reminded me of a great lasagna, but they were just OK as enchiladas. The ambiance is nice enough to warrant a return visit, but I'm not rushing to come back. Related: they only serve beer and wine so there's that

Once biting into the milk chocolate, an explosion of smooth savory and slightly salty swirled. I had to take a moment, put my show on pause and just let the flavors envelop me. With a small sip of black coffee, it just a lingering memory. Damn it was great! I had to stop before devouring the other one and prepare myself for the second coming. Hence a photo-op! I purchased some of my favorite spices: cayenne pepper, white pepper, poppy seed, and one other. I've purchased this brand in the past, but didn't really appreciate the quality of the brand until now. Over the years I have relied on McCormick for the spices that I really care about. For basic spices like Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and salt, I resorted to Aldi and even the dollar store. Morton and Bassett spices are worth the extra expense since they taste fresher and have great flavor. I don't give five stars out to anyone, but Morton & Bassett went from 4 to 5 stars because of their customer service. After my purchase, I discovered that two of my spices did not have a shaker option. Perhaps many people don't shake their cayenne pepper or white pepper on prepared foods like I do. Either way, I was really disappointed with this seamingly minor inconvenience. Please let me explain that it is very difficult to sprinkle a small portion of pepper on your dinner if you do not have the little plastic top with the convenient holes. I know...most people would just suck it up and perhaps spoon the spices out or simply purchase a different brand (with a shaker top) next time. Well, fortunately for me, I made the wise decision to look up their customer service phone number on www.mortonbassett.com (found with a simple Google search). My call was immediately answered by an English speaking, professional representative! This alone was impressive. He offered a quick and simple resolution and mailed two plastic shaker tops to my home. I wish I remembered his name. Either way, it may seem like a simple thing, but I appreciate it a great deal. Thank you Morton & Bassett Spices for your quality products and excellent customer service!

The Rogue Traders meandered our way out to Dogpatch a couple weeks ago where the 22nd st. sidewalk ends- since when did we start calling it Dogpatch anyway - we made our way through security, parked crooked like, in front of the most gorgeous mess of a building I've ever seen. The kind of space you want to ride a tricycle around in, hula-hoop, listen to live music, sing loudly and picnic in. We almost did all those things. This happens every Thursday night, but only through June! A night food market on the Bay. My companions are not as curious as I-I had to taste every thing from the freshly fried beignets, to the backyard honey, paper thin crackers covered in seeds and an almond croissant so heavy I couldn't bare to share it. Then there were fresh baked cardamon butter cookies and this was all before dinner. The music played, happy birthdays were announced, fresh picked veges were procured, hand printed note cards were bartered for future goods and Pier 70 SF came alive while the sun twisted into the factory windows variegating blue to orange to pink. I even found some dear old friends I hadn't seen in nearly 10 years! Thank you Austin Press for the the beautiful note cards, the friendship and the invitation. The Rogue Traders hope to be peddling and bartering here before the end of June.
