This particular location seems to have less inventory than the Hayes Valley location but that's understandable as they probably have less foot traffic - there were maybe two other shoppers in the store at the same time as me. I'm a slow shopper so I meandered through the entire store for a bit before choosing a box of candy near the front of the store. I would have wanted 3 boxes but only saw the one box sitting by itself so I asked the only staff member I saw if they had any more. He said something along the lines of "we're not Safeway, we don't have a bunch of inventory laying around" - kind of cold and unfriendly so I didn't even try to ask if other locations might have any or if there was any other similar products he could recommend. I just bought the one item but if I had felt a bit more welcome, I would have potentially bought several more gifts. YMMV.

On a Friday stroll in San Francisco's Richmond District looking for something to drink, eat, and cook. I landed on Clement street again but this time at a specialty store. Inside you find aisles of ingredients to cook with and bottles of olive oil and specialty wines. They have the Don Juan's favorite Pinot Noir . You will also find wines like Syrah, Sherry and Rosé. They carry artisan pasta for Don Juan's tofu spaghetti ( made with Angel hair). This is the place to create the taste international flavors of different parts of the world. Plenty of hamachi chunks with seaweed salad, avocado, and edamame beans. I think this is about $12 or $13 if I remember correctly. so good and wallet friendly Sashimi (5/5) I loveeee hamachi (yellow tail) and I always get their sashimi and nigiri here. They have both regular hamachi and also the hamachi toro! The toro is about $18 for 6 or 7 pieces. So much cheaper than what you can get at restaurants. I wanted to do a make your own hand roll night at home and got a variety of sashimi, a small container of ginger and wasabi for $1 each, and a small container of tobiko for $2! Everything came out to about $80 and enough to feed 3 people. They have plenty of rice bowls, sushi rolls, and you can even order catering from them. And since they are a mini market, you can get a variety of Japanese snacks, drinks and ramen! Service is fast and the lady at the cashier is very nice and efficient.

Gets busy, but quick line. The store is super clean. The toro sashimi was delicious. Good fatty pieces, but it was a bit pricey per pound, so you do not get a lot of pieces. The salmon tobiko don ($15) was a good meal, I love how it includes seaweed salad. The onigiri, about $4.50 each, has a balanced ratio of rice and filling.

The menu consists of the typical Hawaiian fare - poke, loco moco, spam masubis, shaved ice, etc. we ordered a loco moco and the ahi tuna poke. FYI the poke is all market price only. The loco moco was honestly better than many I've tried in Hawaii. I like how the patty was seasoned and actually quite tender still! We didn't try the shaved ice but we definitely will next time.

They also serve hot food if you're looking for a bite to eat. Interior has some seating inside with a grocery store kind of feeling. No outdoor seating available. Parking is limited to street parking. A few notes: * Not everything in the store is labelled with prices * Hot food was pretty average in my opinion * Price vs value wasn't great in terms of quality of food Onto the hot food: * butter mochi - definitely the best thing we ordered here! Chewy buttery and soft in texture. Don't skip this. * garlic shrimp- this was recommended by the cashier but it was quite lacking in depth of flavor with the primary taste just being garlic. No spice, nothing special to stand out. After a while the sauce gets tiring. Mac salad was prominently peppery but bland in both texture and flavor. * Mochiko chicken - Not bad, crunchy battered chicken. Interior of the chicken was juicy but lacking in that distinct strong sweet savory that mochiko chicken is known for. Again, the mac salad was a letdown. Overall, the food was quite average especially for the price point. I can think of two places in SJ with better Hawaiian food for half the price.

We came for a factory tour, about an hour long. It was fascinating and educational to learn about the craft of chocolates from fruit to beans to the chocolate bar, and to get to chocolate taste along the way. Their work is inspiring-adding minimal ingredients to their chocolate bars so that the flavors of the cacao beans shine naturally from where they originate. After the tour, we tried the hojicha hot chocolate, the celebration cake, and the matcha cookie. For the hojicha hot chocolate, the tea flavor was subtle, but good chocolate. The celebration cake was what we expected-glad it wasn't overly sweet so that cocoa is more pronounced, but it also wasn't too rich; I felt the chocolate here in some sense lacked depth. The matcha cookie was my favorite-a cake texture matcha exterior encasing a denser brownie-like chocolate core - a delicious combo! Last thoughts to prep for the experience if you tour- 1.) Eat before you go on the tour-sampling chocolate means you do get caffeinated, and you'll likely purchase more chocolate (more caffeine!) after :) 2.) Included with the tour is a complimentary chocolate drink of choice at the end, in case you were pondering whether to buy the hot chocolate or not ;) 3.) Dandelion Chocolate products are pricey but quality. Paying the price feels like it's appreciation of their art. If you love chocolate, it's a wonderful place to visit at least once!
