I ordered to be shipped and it was a good experience. When I received the caviar, the jars had so much space in them. They weren't even all the way full. I was very disappointed because in every other company I order, they fill the jars. If they want to give exactly the measured amount, they should order smaller jars. One of them I ordered was also way too salty. I'm not sure where they source from but if they salt their own caviar, they need to chill out with it. read more

The store is now located upstairs you just need to take the door on the left and go up the stairs. Inside was so cute and they have a great street view. Everything is tidy and neat. I ended up with a double double while my friend had a single cheeseburger, both animal style. I decided we should try the sturgeon with the burgers, so we only opened that one. Based on the videos I've seen, I expected it to be too salty. And indeed it was. Tho adding the creme fraiche really helped. If I had raw onions as well, that would have cut into it as well. I did tear off unsauced pieces of my bun and used it as a blini of sorts. Very tasty with the caviar and creme fraiche. Prices above are what I found on their site, but my friend got it during a sale. I think Black Friday? So it was much cheaper than the current prices. I had an issue with my first order from this company. UPS showed it as delivered but it was absolutely not delivered. I reached out and Kadie was an angel, tirelessly fixing my problem. She had a replacement shipped immediately and it arrived with zero issues. On top of that , they sent a lovely gift near Christmas that was a treat and unexpected. Now the caviar itself arrived well packaged and exactly as ordered. From sturgeon to trout, all items were delicious. I very much enjoyed the caviar, but the attention to detail and the outstanding customer service made me a patron for life. The selection of caviar is absolutely amazing - all kinds of flavor profiles and price ranges which makes it great no matter your budget or occasion. Ordered a very nice gift for delivery with plenty of time. Original delivery date - nothing. I called and they PROMISED it would be delivered the next day. Its 5:45 and I have not received a notice that UPS has received my package. I have emailed, left a voicemail, and been on hold for 15 minutes - nothing. Honestly? I first off want to say that Art was a very nice and personable employee. He answered questions that I had and offered information about the caviar. I just started eating caviar about a week and a half ago I went online and purchased Osetra & Kaluga hybrid from another company for the first time. Then when I realized I liked the caviar, I started doing more research and I found out that The Caviar company is located in San Francisco, which is like 20 minutes from where I live. I was super excited because I thought maybe they did a little samples. I'll be honest I'm not someone who makes a lot of money so this was a treat for me and I don't want to purchase caviar, which is pricey and then go home and not like it. It looked like from some of the reviews & pictures. I thought this would be a place that would give little samples to try but they in fact don't so I just ended up buying some more Osetra.. I was curious about the other ones though and Art tried to answer the best he could, but there was no way I was willing to take a chance without being able to taste. Sharing my affection for caviar, I ordered online 1 oz of White Sturgeon for my friend Ashley and me. It was easy and arranged for pick up I was greeted warmly by Tess. This place oozes sophistication and class. The shop is so perfectly situated on the main floor of its building. The large windows allow for tons of natural light and they have lots of cute and useful products to enjoy at a fancy caviar tasting. I ordered some caviar online for pick-up for a winter solstice dinner my little pod had. The concierge was so nice when we entered to pick up our order and was really very informative about the offerings at both their locations. Due to COVID restrictions, we weren't allowed to walk around the store, but you could still see everything they had to offer. When this place is finally open like in pre-COVID times, i will definitely be making an appt for a caviar tasting with friends. I'd like to go to their other location though as they informed us, that alcohol could be served there. Hopefully this location gets their liquor license soon, because it is so quaint and lovely. read more

I passed this place often to get my dog groomed, but never had the courage to go in. When covid hit, I figured If this isn't a special occasion what is?! We partook in their first virtual caviar tasting and it was a total blast. We got three caviars, creme fraiche, a mother of pearl spoon and blini delivered right to our door in a contactless delivery. It was a perfect at home date night and the caviar was all interesting and very different. We felt like we learned a lot and appreciated the variety. We're excited for the next one and loved how the host made it feel very approachable and fun. We spent a lot of time and energy focusing on the food for our wedding day in September - we're both long-time restaurant and bar veterans, so we wanted to make sure the food and drink at our wedding was top notch. We also like to get fancy sometimes while being fun and different. And the bride absolutely loves Caviar Co., so we knew they had to fit into the wedding somehow. When we found out about the caviar cart service, it was an immediate dream come true. It was also not something we had seen at any other wedding, which made it a fun surprise for the guests during the cocktail hour. For years, my go to was Tsar Nicholai caviar, until I tried The Caviar co's caviar, that is. Fantastic customer service, Anise is lovely and a great host! We were guided through the different caviars and ultimately decided on both the Kaluga and Siberian caviars, which were both amazing! They even sell latkes, blini and creme Grau he to go with! We went to the National Caviar Day event by The Caviar Company and it was a big disappointment. It was supposed to be a fun evening of food, drinks, and, of course, caviar, with a promised very limited number of very expensive tickets sold. Instead, it was oversold with too many people attending and there was no food. A handful of trays of oer d'oeuvres arrived a few times, and very pushy people swarmed the server and devoured the small number of bites as soon as they entered the room. There were a couple of tins of caviar, where a person would put a small amount on your hand and you were expected to lick it off as a "bump." There were no stations to taste with the traditional accompaniments. The event also included wine and liquor sponsors, including Ketel One, but when I asked for a vodka martini I was charged an additional $18 beyond the event's ticket price. An event like this could have been a great opportunity to introduce the company to new customers, but it made a very bad impression. You should not charge for an experience that you are unprepared to deliver. National Caviar Day is an indulgent, elitist idea, and at this very high price point it should have been a magnet for foodies of a certain stripe. Instead, it was overcrowded and obnoxious and lacking. My ticket to the event was a gift to me, and he was very embarrassed. read more

I visited the SF shop last week with a friend and we were not disappointed. It's a small little shop where we met Hope who was not just a darling but unbelievably attentive and knowledgeable. We picked up 3 different types of caviar for a tasting with 8 friends. The caviar was EXCELLENT! These guys know their stuff and obviously have their sourcing down. Thanks to The Caviar Company, our little champagne, vodka and caviar get together was a smashing success. Our friends are all well accustomed to living a luxury lifestyle so it's rather hard to bring a unique experience even with an ultra high end tasting, but The Caviar Company delivered. So what was unique about our party that we didn't know about before (and would not have without The Caviar Company)? #1 The Caviar Bump! If you don't know what it is, go to The Caviar Company and read about it -- then find a friend, snag some caviar and try it out. It may sound simple, but none of our friends experienced it before. We ended up doing it all night (well at least while the caviar lasted). A great way to turn caviar tasting into a social event! #2 The Chambong! It's exactly what it sounds like, yes bringing back memories back of beer bongs in college except this is with champagne. We weren't believers at first but 7 of 8 of us loved this novel little way to drink champagne. They carry them at the store or you can pick them up online. Either way, it was a great addition to the experience. (Tip of the Day: This may seem obvious, but read the instructions before using. We had more than one debate on the proper way to use the Chambong.) I highly recommend The Caviar Company to anyone who wants to learn or know about caviar or even the expert who is looking for a tasty tidbit they may have yet to experience. So pleased with this find! If you like caviar, it's a great place to purchase and sample. We scheduled a very reasonably priced private tasting, available after hours and with BYO. We tried 5 kinds of caviar. I have never really had the chance to try and compare caviar side by side and I learned so much and surprisingly, the most expensive stuff is not what I enjoyed most (but what I had historically purchased). I'd been waiting in anticipation to go to the opening of The Caviar Company's first retail location on Union street and it was well worth the wait. For those of you who aren't familiar with The Caviar Company, it's a sister-owned company that sources some of the finest sustainable caviar currently available. The newly opened "tasting lounge" is an incredible place to learn all things caviar and taste some beauties! I had the pleasure of tasting quite a few types of caviar alongside some wonderful potato chips. The sell everything by the ounce, and might even be having an optional "bump bar" where you can sample caviar in smaller quantities (see picture).
