I live at Andros Isles Apartments in Daytona Beach. On 2/12/26, my father was visiting me from Alabama. He is disabled and drives a vehicle with a valid Alabama disabled license plate with a current blue disabled sticker on the left side. At 3:30 in the morning, Volusia County Towing removed his vehicle from the apartment complex. When he went out the next morning, his car was gone. He almost called the police because he thought it had been stolen. Instead, he went to the leasing office and was told it had been towed. His plate is clearly marked as disabled. It is permanent. It is not temporary. There is no reasonable way to miss it if you actually look. After pressure from apartment management, the towing company eventually agreed to release the vehicle later that afternoon. Because his car had been taken, he had to find someone to drive him 25 minutes to the tow yard. When he arrived, he was spoken to aggressively and told to "get your ass off the property." He was not provided a receipt. My father has congestive heart failure. The stress of discovering his vehicle missing and being treated that way was unnecessary and unacceptable. If you are going to tow vehicles at 3:30 a.m., you need to verify what you are towing. Disabled plates are not optional details. They are clearly visible and legally protected. The lack of professionalism and basic procedural care is concerning. On June 13, 2025, I went to Volusia County Towing (owned by Thomson Holdings Enterprises LLC) in Holly Hill, FL to retrieve personal belongings from a towed Avis rental. Under Florida Statute §715.07(2)(a)(5), I'm legally entitled to access my items without being forced to pay or surrender company property. I emailed in advance. Their GM, Aaron Forsman, replied that I would only be allowed to retrieve my belongings if I surrendered the Avis rental key--which is not my property. This was an attempt to coerce compliance in violation of state law. When I arrived, an employee allowed me inside. As I collected my items, someone radioed the gate employee and ordered them not to let me leave. Moments later, Derek Thomson, the owner, pulled up in a truck, entered the gate, and locked me inside, refusing to allow me to exit. I informed him he was unlawfully detaining me and stated I would call 911. Only then was I allowed to leave. After exiting the gate, Mr. Thomson physically shoved me in a threatening manner. This was not only assault, but also harassment and intimidation intended to frighten me into submission. I left shaken, with my items, but I have since suffered anxiety, missed work, and emotional trauma due to the incident. When I attempted to report this to the police, Holly Hill PD questioned me instead of taking appropriate action, raising major bias concerns. THIS COMPANY IS EVIL! My son's college campus had an active shooter threat and he fled campus and parked across the school in an apartment complex to hide out as campus was on lockdown! They were waiting to try to tow cars and they towed my son's cars. We were in a different state and the car was registered to us. They refused to give him his car back before paying $170 and before we had to get an online notary to do a vehicle release form when I told him the situation and my son did not see the sign that it was for potential Clients because he was upset and nervous he told me he didn't give a shit. But, it is a tough biz that these folks are in, so I understand where they're coming from . We managed to move on & have used Volusia towing at least8 times to tow our personal vehicles. I was spoken to like I was a scam artist and I was told that I was a POS. My insurance company contracted them to tow my vehicle from the repair shop to my home. They failed to leave the key fob. They failed to call me back when I requested to know what was going on. The manager was vile and in 47 years I have never been spoken to in this manner. As the wife of a veteran with USAA, I would think that they would contract with a better towing company. When the car arrived my display was shattered.. The front office dude would not let me in or see sticker prior to paying to get my car. Wonder how I can get my money back now. I still have the sticker. We were parked driving electric scooters for no more than 30 minutes. When I returned my bf's car was no where to be seen. They have ONE leisurely sign that was bent completely around a pole not even readable indicating that we would be towed. The back of the parking lot was 50 ft away. I parked legally on the Ocean Shore beach approach. While returning to my car, I noticed a tow truck had my car lifted and preparing to remove it. The driver insisted it was illegally parked, even though I pointed out signs indicated it was not a tow away area. I paid a "drop fee" of $62.50 on the spot to get the car released. I contacted the Volusia County Department of Public Works, Volusia County Legal Department, and the city of Daytona Beach Police Department, and was informed the (attempted) towing was illegal, as Volusia County Towing had NO RIGHT to touch my car. Mr. Forsman was rude, obstructive, and arrogant during our communication. He was contacted by the Legal Department, and told what they did was illegal, so he agreed to return my $62.50. But, I had to return to Holly Hill to get get the check and sign a release of liability form. I could not return any time soon, so I said to email the form to me, I would sign it and have it notarized, and they could then mail the check to me. He refused. The next time I came to the area, I stopped in at their office, the employees called Mr. Forsman, and I could hear him swearing and saying derogatory things about me from 6 feet away, but he wouldn't get on the phone with me. Told me, through the employee, to F@#$ off. So, Christian Gurny and Aaron Forsman are thieves, are dishonest, deceitful, and cowardly in their business dealings. They made zero effort to correct their mistake, looking for any way to keep money they were not legally entitled to. read more

Chris G the owner is an idiot as he would not talk to me, and he lied that he had a pic of all the damages on the vehicle before he towed it. He told me that he sent it to my wife's email which she never received. She called him and his company several times to get it however we can tell they were trying to dodge us so they never called her back or would get her in touch with the owner. I am about to sue the hell out of him for towing my Ferrari incorrectly. He scraped the bottom of it and now I have access to the video of them doing it from the Holiday Inn in Daytona Beach. Thank God one of the staff members took a good video of what happened. I wish I could post the video however it only gives me the option of a picture which I have attached. The Ferrari damage was caught by one of my collision specialists in Atlanta and they also stated that it had to have been done by a tow truck and now they are right as I have the video which has sound now. However, the courts will review this video 100% in our favor as it is crystal clear of the damages, and it has the sound of the scrape. We tried to reason with the owner however this idiot is so stupid that we have called multiple times to settle the damages however because he is so stupid, he decided to just let me litigate when everything is on freaking clean video. It is 100% visible that they screwed up however he blocks my wife's phone who is the owner of the car listed however I am the true owner as I paid for it 100%. He told me that he only talked to the owner of the vehicle which my wife tried 8 different times to call, and they kept telling her he was busy. Now I will be suing this company for $325,000 as the front end is scraped at the bottom and the body shop is telling me the way it was towed caused more damage to the plate underneath. These dumb idiots need to understand that if they don't know how to tow vehicles like this then they shouldn't. I plan on suing them for not only towing my vehicle incorrectly but also for my time and attorney fees. By the end of the day, they will probably be paying me around a minimum of $400,000 in settlement or about $500,000 with all fees included. I tried to talk to them to settle it out of court however now they don't have a choice as they have pissed me off. They also don't know who I am as I asked them to look me up on my website however again the low intelligence, we are dealing with there is uncanny. My net worth is $350 million, and it is not the money or the repairs of the vehicle that bothers me however it is the principle of the matter in which I will do everything in my power to ensure I strip as much funds as possible from this company to hopefully make it go bankrupt, so they don't do this to another car. read more

This business is running a scam and has no business hiding behind a contract with volusia county. I was at Friday's on grenada and A1A last night. The property has signs posted "no beach parking, owners will be towed.". Only me and my family werent at the beach. We were inside Fridays when their tow truck driver, who did not see us go to the beach, and claims he didnt see us at all, decided to tow our vehicle at a cost of 185$. Conveniently, they only take cash and the management wont be in til tuesday to let us dispute the claim. They can steal your car under false legal pretenses, but cant do anything other than take cash to solve the problem they created. The police were useless, which the driver, only known as "juan", must be a mononym, bc "juan" doesnt seem to have a last name, claims that "filing a police report would be a crime bc we have a contract with the county". We have names and receipts to back up everything i say, as well as the management of Fridays and about 50 others that have dealt with VCT. This company is run by crooks hiding behind a county contract. This company is nothing more than scammers with tow trucks. Update: my father went to go get his money back today, only to be told that the manager cant do that, and the owner will be in on Wednesday. We have been promised repay many times for the ridiculous amount we were charged. They know they made a mistake on the wrong tow but now are evading paying us back. FAR EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS! My ball joint broke in the middle of an intersection on International Speedway on a busy Saturday night and after frantically calling the first several towing companies and being told I'd have a few hours to wait by the unfriendly dispatchers, I tried volusia county towing. The low ratings they have for having towed cars that were parked illegally probably keeps some from calling them when looking for a tow, that was honestly my reason for not calling them first which is very unfortunate because they by far exceeded any service I've had in the past. I'm so glad that I called them. They were very professional a and FRIENDLY and fast. The guy said they would get to me in a half an hour and got there in 20 minutes (instead of 2-3 hours for other options). My bumper was an inch from the pavement and I expected a little damage from trying to get it loaded on the truck but was amazed at how they carefully maneuvered it onto their truck without one scrape! This was hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 25 years. I called this towing company last night because I am staying in Daytona at a condo on the beach for the week. The building provides a parking pass on the upper deck for approximately 15 cars. The last 3 nights I've had to park my car across the street and down the road at another local business because cars without passes keep parking in the lot. So I noticed several signs that said Velusa county towing 24/7 call anytime. So I called to alert them that due to all the people parked illegally we cannot park at our condo. The man on the phone could not have been any ruder to us. Stated well it's private property and I "can't just steal peoples cars." I explained the signs were there to call this number and he had the worst attitude with me. After keeping us waiting 15 plus minutes we asked if he was going to do anything about it and he then proceeded to call me and my boyfriend smart asses and HUNG UP the phone on us. Worst customer service I have ever seen and I have worked in customer service for many years. I expect someone to pull this call and contact me immediately.
