Came in specifically to try out the Schnapps flight, sadly they were completely out of everything, which was a pretty big let down. I did end up choosing a different drink, which they were out of the main ingredient for this as well so they substituted. My husband had an Inglorious Bastard, which was super tasty and unique. We ordered the Rauch Hähnchen, which was absolutely amazing! It cooked perfectly, super juicy, and crunchy. I 100% recommend. We also got the Schweineschnitzel, which was also cooked extremely well but was a little bit plain, I was looking for a little more flavor. The patio of these place is amazing, fantastic ambiance. The decor inside from what I saw was also very cool. The service wasn't quite on point, the server was inattentive and not very friendly. I would like to come back for a second try, but will for sure make sure I can enjoy the Schnapps flight.
Finally my first visit to Von Bismark, I finally talked my wife into it, with the promise of trying the schnapps. Well bummer there, they were completely out of all the schnapps. Wife did end up picking another cocktail, and they were out of the main ingredient in that as well. I cannot remember this one and it's not on the current website menu, but it contained grape. The service was ok, but our waiter was not very friendly or attentive. He honestly appeared to have maybe hit a bit too much jazz cabbage on his break. It was also kind of odd that the menu's were never picked up, they just stacked our food and stuff on them. Not sure if that's just how they do it here or what. Ambiance was actually pretty neat, themed really well and the outdoor seating is chill. The bar inside looks pretty fun and there is an aroma of bbq all over the place. Bathrooms were around the outside and super clean and tidy. The food! So first off we had the Rauch Hähnchen, I gotta say if you get only one thing, it's gotta be this. This was pretty fantastic, super crunchy, and the hit of honey was on point. The other thing we had was the Schweineschnitzel, this was cooked great and super tender, but just really needed a bit more flavor, even with the arugula and dressing. Our arugula was pretty dry so maybe it just needed more of the dressing. Still a fun new thing to try. I'm for sure going to go back and try again, but I'll be calling ahead to make sure they have the schnapps as that's what really drew us in. I ended up getting an Inglorious Bastard which was a fun accompaniment to that heavy meal.
First time here and happily reporting a great spot. Wasn't sure this would be my kinda place but a couple friends invited me so I found out in fact it is. The bartender makes an amazing cocktail and we had some laughs while I awaited the rest of my party. When my friends arrived we enjoyed a cocktail and scouted the menu. I was elated when I was told that the fish schnitzel was in fact Haddock. I've only had it on the east coast of Ireland so I was stoked. We each ordered an entree and a side. When the food arrived we laughed hard. A lot of food appeared and we quickly realized that Von Bismarck served very hardy portions. So fun! The spatzle with Gruyere cheese was amongst my favorite side dish along with the amazing smoked cabbage dish. I recommend requesting a char on it to ensure cooking it a bit more and ensuring a more tender dish. The platters of food we watched being turned out here was very entertaining to watch. No one's leaving this place hungry! There is still outdoor seating available as they have heaters running. Nice decor and a family style seating is encouraged. We sat inside and had nice lap blankets just for a cozy touch.
What a hidden gem in midtown. Came here in a Friday night on a date. We did not have a reservation so we weren't able to sit at a table, but there was some seating at the counter. When the weather is warm, there's tons of outside seating too. This was my first REAL experience with German food. We started with the pretzel and cheese which was soft and warm. We split the sample plate of bratwurst. All very delicious and came with dipping options. The schnitzel was my favorite. Paired with the Arugala salad! Absolutely delicious. Nice list of beers and cocktails as well as wine.
Von Bismarck was a highlight of my recent trip to Reno. It was my friend's birthday and I had heard rumblings of a nearby German food spot to our hotel. Off to Yelp I went! The photos and the menu enticed us to check it out. When I rolled up, I was impressed. Large outdoor space makes this place a good spot in warmer weather. My friend and I went in, no reservation and were sat immediately at the bar. The place has an upscale feel to it without feeling too contrived or hipstery. Friendly bartender greeted us either conversations and recommendations for our activities after dinner- we scooted down the street to watch a friend spin a dj set at another spot. Oh- the dinner! The food was fantastic. Everything from the extensive beer menu, the entrees, even the pretzel, were standout. This is some of the best German food I have had since my old haunt in SF closed up. Excited to check it out again when we are back in town.
Popped in for a quick bite before a GSR concert and was seated at the counter right by the grill. Great conversation with the enthusiastic grill master who clearly loves his job. The grilled veggie special was Japanese eggplant with Hollandaise sauce. OMG - creamy, earthy eggplant paired perfectly with the sauce! Side of spätzle hit the spot, and the house made blackberry soda was so refreshing. Always a favorite place to eat!
This place is great! We were able to be seated right away and the staff were very nice! The ambiance is very nice! When we got there it wasn't busy but it picked up but it wasn't too loud. I like how they have butcher paper that they write their specials on! I ordered the pork schnitzel and my husband got the sausage trio. Both were very delicious! The pork was breaded very well, it was juicy and the flaky slat on top was a great touch, really pulled the flavor in! The arugula salad was very fresh and light! I squeezed the lemon all over it and loved it! My husband loved the sausage with the variety of sauces! My man is a big bratwurst lover and he discovered he loved the berry jam the best! I bet this place is so fun on a summer Friday night with all the outdoor patio seating they have! Highly recommend!
Wow, where do I begin? I've often walked by Von Bismarck, and I always wondered why it was so busy and what kind of place it would be. I'm glad my curiosity got the best of me, because this place is amazing. First of all the vibe and energy is immaculate, and the crowd is always keeping the place busy. The fries were amazing and Ofcourse the pretzels were top notch. I'm actually going to go back this weekend because the menu is full of delectable things I want to try! 11/10 would recommend!!
I love Von Bismarck! I've been coming here for years and have brought many friends and family. Whether sharing amongst a large party or just stopping for a light lunch, it is perfect. Staff is always so kind and knowledgeable about the menu. Delicious German cuisine, tasty rotating sausage choices and some of the best German beer on tap! I always recommend adding the cheese to the spatzle and pretzel!
This place is amazing! The food, staff and ambiance are incredible. We ordered the house pickles which included asparagus, green beans & peppers; the smashed potatoes with fried onions and spicy mustard (mustard is off the hook!). Entrees included the chicken schnitzel; pork schnitzel, fish schnitzel, the beet salad with goat cheese and a soft boiled egg & the sausage trio with a variety of mustard, lingonberry jam and pickled onions. Everything was AMAZING!!
Yelp works! Found this on Yelp when my daughter craved German food. I thought she just wanted a Biergarten... Quality/Quantity - Simple menu done well. Spatzle - So good! My daughter only eats mac & cheese from kraft, but she ate it all. Otto's Best Wurst, Sampler of all 3 Housemade Wursts - Had to get their signature wursts. All were good, even the sauces. Schweineschnitzel - My favorite of all the dishes! Special dessert, Gingersnap Crust Salted Caramel - We were so full, but I guess my daughter saw the special dessert and was not full any more... This was also good. Looking forward to coming back to try your "A Little Bigger" menu selections and to try some beer and wine! Snowing today and my wife did not want to drive, so I did not drink. Atmosphere - What a cool spot. Table, bench, counter, bar seating, etc. Love the atmosphere/environment, from the outdoor kitchen, to all the different outdoor seating. Including a tent for private events. You can also see the kitchen from both inside and outside seating, see pictures. Communal seating. Outdoor grill and smoker. Even the bathrooms are in containers, see pictures. And the bathrooms also have cool decor. I also like the fact that they have cloth towels rather than disposable ones. Street parking, but not an issue on raining/snowing days. Open 6 days a week. Tue to Fri = 4pm to close; Sat and Sun = noon till close. Service - Mellisa and the rest of the team did a good job. It is obviously a team effort. Props to the manager to create such a positive culture. It was busy when we got here and everyone before us had reservations; but not an issue for them to still seat us. Price - $70 + tip; a little expensive, but that is the cost for quality (and service). Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2019; we will be regular customers.

Was so excited to find an authentic German beer garden in Reno, but unfortunately, this spot fell a bit short of my expectations. This spot definitely feels a bit more upscale than your typical beer garden, with a lovely indoor bar seating area with rustic cottage core decor and a large painting of THE Otto Von Bismarck. However, the food and the service were a bit of a letdown. Our favorite dish was the curry fries, and the chicken schnitzel was perfectly fried but a bit bland in flavor. I couldn't stomach the sausages, which had a strong gamey flavor that even their assortment of sauces couldn't cover. While they have an excellent selection of beer, they were out of quite a bit of cocktails and beers, and the Otto G&T and quail egg shooter were not my favorite. The other couple sitting next to us could not finish their food as well, and didn't bother taking it to go. Our server was really nice, but the other employees played mute when we asked them for takeout boxes and bags (which they somehow ran out of). Overall, this could be a cool beer garden to grab beer + a light bite, but it definitely falls a bit short when it comes to delivering quality German food and service. read more

Phenomenal! I don't even know where to start. I came in on a Friday at 3pm and was greeted by the lovely Stevie. I was so incredibly taken care of while we dived into the beautiful menu. The salad was insane - so fresh and so many vibrant flavors. I wish we had this place in San Francisco ! read more

We made reservations for the St Paddy's corned beef dinner and by 7pm, when we arrived, they were out Luckily, literally everything else on the menu is out of the world and never fails. The key to success here is a meat(schnitzel can't go wrong) + a cabbage(we did red and white, and grilled because ) and spatzle for the carb side you can won't regret. The well rounded experience offers a great combo with any of their draft beers! They make amazing leftovers as well. The staff is always so helpful and educational- raises across the board! It's family style so keep that in mind, though ordering too much will be the gift that keeps giving for days. It's in your favor to order that thing that intrigues you. You can't go wrong. read more

I continue to obsess over the food at Von Bismarck, super hearty and traditionally German. The outside patio is such a nice space with total sunshine in the afternoon for lunch. The sides for the brats were cherry jam and tangy mustard and luscious sour cream. I do think they should make the sides 20% bigger because that is the best part of the sausage combo. Spatzle is a creamy German Mac and cheese that is very delicious, definitely make sure to get it with the extra cheese option. I also tried for the first time the curry fries and they were so crisp with such great flavor, the sauces to dip were excellent accompaniments. The plating and food styling at Von Bismarck is 10/10. I will add too that it would be nice if they priced their beverages on the menu, it's not fun to get a bill and realize your beverages were half your cost and each beer was $12, just add that to the menu so it's known beforehand. Pricey place but filling and high quality so I keep coming back for more! read more
We'd been talking about trying this place for a while, but never had a chance until last week. Three of us walked in without a reservation on Friday early evening. The place was pretty crowded. The maitre'd offered us the heated tent. We walked in, and instantly felt comfortable. Cozy, intimate, and fun. They even offer nice lap blankets. My husband lived in Germany for a while, so he definitely knew what he wanted. Tim, our wonderful server recommended to go with a couple of entrees and several side dishes, and it was a great idea. Schnitzel was light, crispy but tender and not dry. Just perfectly seasoned. The fish was very tasty and juicy. And great beer selection! To be completely honest, I was imagining a "classic" German restaurant with outdated decor (you know, the stereotypical stuff), but it's a very chic, simple-elegant, cool place. It was fantastic, and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the evening. If you want to try the heated tent, dress warm, especially your legs/feet. We are definitely going back. read more

Came here for a date night and we sat at the bar. The bartender was great. Friendly, fun, and fast. I was glad there were a few vegetarian things on the menu and ended up trying the beet salad and pretzel. Both were yummy and filling. read more
A summer go-to for us. We like packing up our toddler and riding our bikes to Von Bismarck. The beers are ice cold and humongous, they really hit the spot after peddling under the blazing Reno sun. We always choose to sit outside at one of the very spacious tables under ample shade. Our little guy loves this place because on the side of the establishment they have a sand box with big rocks to climb on and buckets and shovels to dig! The staff are always very friendly and engage well with our son which we really appreciate. The only reason I wouldn't give them 5 stars is because the food selection is quite slim and it's a rather pricey place for what you get. I am a big fan of most German food but in the summer, when it's so hot out, some lighter fares options that were a little less greasy/starchy would be nice. All around, a great place establishment and a really fun place to take out-of-towners as the experience is always special. read more

I liked this restaurant! They have a decent selection of German beers and several cocktails. We shared the spaetzel and sauerkraut. I had the schnitzel for dinner. It was a big portion and very tasty. I also sampled the pork steak which was very flavorful. We shared the berry trifle for dessert. Overall, it was a very tasty dinner. read more
This place is absolutely beautiful with great food! Our favorites off the menu is Otto's sausage sampler, spatzel, schnitzel, and the pretzel. My only complaint is that each time that I've gone here, the person taking our order has forgotten one thing, but they promptly make it after we remind them. We finally made it to Von Bismarck for dinner! Kicking myself for not checking it out before! We dropped in on a whim because the place down the street that we had intended to check out didn't have anyplace to park. We walked up to the podium and were quickly seated. The menu is pretty straight forward. Everything is a la carte and shareable. We ordered the chicken schnitzel, the pork schnitzel, the Berliner Curry Fries, the cheese spatzle, and the potato salad. The schnitzels are huge! The pork schnitzel comes with rocket salad and was moist and crispy and perfectly prepared. The chicken schnitzel looked delicious. It was a dining companions and I didn't try it. Both had large flakes of sea salt on them which added a nice flavor. Their take on the potato salad was fun. Tiny potatoes tossed in a sauce with crispy bacon and a touch of color from edible flowers. The spatzle, well they were to die for. Nice and cheesy with just the right amount of pan caramelization. YUM! And the Berliner Curry Fries! They were delicious as well. The curry ketchup was delicious and they also came with some mayo to dip the fries I into. Very German! Had a delicious time at Von Bismarck with friends for an evening after work. At first their menu seems hard to understand but Daniel was able to help us pick out what was good to try as we're weren't used to the language on the menu. We had just planned to grab a bite to eat and drinks before we went to explore an Art town event down the street. I didn't expect to stay and try some or their best dishes they had. First we started off with the burnt cabbage, potato salad and macaroni. The burnt cabbage was definitely unique in itself or trying as the charred ends added a flavor to the cabbage I've never had but it was good. The macaroni had a light cheese on it and was fresh. The potato salad was cute and light, we didn't want to get too full before we got our entrées. I ordered the muscles, my boyfriend and his friend got the fried chicken and for dessert Daniel let us try the fanciest cheesecake I've ever seen served at a bar. The muscles, $32 and WORTH IT for a decent serving and the bread was a perfect match to dip in the lightly buttered sauce that the muscles were cooked in. The chicken was crispy and juicy then the cheesecake was so yummy by just looking at it. Overall, I learned not to judge the food by the names on the menu as the presentations were something else that you normally don't see for a midtown bar unless you're paying for the quality. Prices were fair for what we ordered and the drink menu had plenty of choices from beer, wine and craft cocktails. Parking was easy as it wasn't too busy when we arrived but you could find yourself parking down the block for a short walk. Just be mindful of residents. Staff were super nice and helpful. We have been meaning to try this place since we moved to Reno and boy, have we been missing out! We sat outside in a little tent which was a lovely escape from the sun. They have a lot of tables outdoors which is nice for the summer. The smell emanating from the smoker/outdoor grill is intoxicating as you walk up. They have a hefty drink menu serving up a large selection of beer, cocktails, wine, and a variety of German spirits. I especially appreciated the size options on the beer. My fiancé got a 1L beer! I was happy to try a local seltzer by Revision. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and was happy to make recommendations and steer you in the proper direction. Service was pretty slow although we went on a weekend and the place was packed and for good reason. The food wow'd me! The curry fries were out of this world. They were perfectly crispy and the curry ketchup was exquisite! I would also recommend the grilled cabbage. Holy cow! I didn't know a cabbage could taste so good! It is charred and smothered in a walnut relish and a horseradish sauce. 10/10 would recommend. Finally, the holsteinschnitzel was wonderful and it was cooked to perfection. The pork was tender and the anchovy butter complimented the pork very well. Don't shy away from this! It wasn't too fishy but salty and savory. Big fan! read more

With all the new amazing businesses opening up in Reno/Sparks lately, I feel guilty going back to the same spots over and over. But as our most recent date night proved, there's a reason that we keep returning to these spots, and Von Bismarck is no exception! We usually saddle up to the bar but chose an actual table this time, a welcome (and surprisingly romantic) choice. Even though this spot is located right on Wells, it is tucked in enough to feel like its own little world. The kitchen is right there in the open, so the aroma of delicious food cooking is always wafting through the air. A big rustic fence separates diners from the noise of the street. The wine list was a little hard for us to understand because so much of it was in German! But our server pointed us in the direction of the "number 18" on the wine list - a dry and refreshing white wine that ended up pairing perfectly with dinner. Dinner itself... man, was that tasty. We started with the curry fries (a MASSIVE portion, btw), which came with aioli and a curry ketchup for dipping. Combine the two and it's like the most epic fry sauce ever. The main event - their smoked and fried chicken - was recommended and absolutely did not disappoint. The breading was perfectly crispy, honey added that delicious balance of sweetness, and the aioli and green onions just sent the flavor profile through the roof. This is one of the most addicting fried chicken dishes I've ever had! If I had to change just one thing, I would brine the chicken for a day or two ahead of time, just for that extra hit of salt. But as it is, this dish is near perfection! Overall, we were happy to return and find that the atmosphere, food, and quality of service were still wonderful. I recommend coming here with a group of people because the portions are outrageous - and also so you can try all the deliciousness they have to offer! read more

Very "gastro-pubish" is a very good way. Stopped by and tried a couple things off of their menu. Walking up to the establishment, they have a full set up outside to cook and prepare the food. Very impressive. Pickles- Bell peppers, cucumbers, asparagus and green beans. All pickled to literal perfection. This was incredibly fresh and so crisp. Pretzel- This was warm coming out and again perfect. It came with beer cheese for dipping as well as mustard with horseradish. Personally, I prefered the mustard and horseradish, but the beer cheese did have a good flavor to it. House Made Hibiscus Soda- literally sparkling water and they bring you the "syrup" for your flavor of choice. Super beneficial because you can make it as sweet or not as you want. Such a great idea!!! If you are looking for a unique place to dine, I highly recommend swinging on in. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the gal working as super friendly. OVERALL YUMMY AND SIMPLE. Great little place... it was too hot to eat outside when we went for an early dinner at 5:00. I'm sure once the evening gets later and the sun goes down it would have been lovely out on the outside patio. It was contemporary German food- not the traditional plate. Everything is meant to be shared just like at a steak house. We shared the currywurst fries - yummy , cucumber salad with sunflower seeds on top - cool, crunchy and tasty, Cheesy Spatzel and short ribs . Fun place to gather for friends to hang and visit with drinks and food. Service was ok ... everyone was busy but a bit confused . We aren't drinkers so we ordered ice tea - that never arrived. As we were finishing our dinner our server informed us they didn't have ice tea and we're trying to brew some. It seem like the ones that ordered beer or cocktails got more attention then non- drinkers. Would go back and try some of their other dishes. read more

Had a great time here with a group of 6. We ordered a lot of food, which came out in a timely matter. My favorite dishes were: Fried chicken with honey - 6 perfectly crispy chicken legs with a delicious sweet sauce Chicken schnitzel - big piece of schnitzel, enough to share Curry fries - delicious sauce to go with the intensely flavored fries Cheesecake - OMG so good, and a BIG piece which we shared among 6 of us FYI - The menu changes seasonally! We were disappointed that they no longer have the coiled sausage on the menu. You can order HUGE glasses of German beer :) read more

We passed this place and decided to go back because the outside area looked really cool. And it was. We opted to stay on the patio, which was elegant and open. Definitely a notch above some of the establishments a mere half mile away. Amazing how a few hundred yards is like a lifetime of difference. When we walked in, we lamented that we'd already eaten somewhere else. The aroma coming from the fire pit was delectable. But that's okay. They had some specialty drinks which piqued our interest. And they were excellent. I opted for the Underspritz and my friend had the Otto's Picon. We shared a Fassbind Vieil Abricot. For the price of the Fassbind, I expected a better presentation in an aperitif glass, but we got a shot instead. The devil is in the details. And the drinks took way too long. Plus, the prices were on the high side. The service was great once our waitress arrived, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Just work on those details and speed things up a bit and you've got a 5-start establishment. read more

So glad we finally made it over to Von Bismarck, and we can't wait to go back! Service was wonderful, friendly and warm; great insights for the portion of their dishes! The food was delicious! We got the curry fries - slightly on the limp side, but flavor was great, especially liked having two dipping options (garlic aioli and curry ketchup). We also got the pork schnitzel, which was moist and crispy, just a touch heavy on the finishing salt, and the wood fired hanger steak, which was so tender! Both came with a healthy portion of arugula salad. We were stuffed and sadly had to skip dessert until our next visit. Also, I had a delicious cocktail - Otto's Picon, and my husband enjoyed both of the plank-biers he got. The outdoor patio seating was very pleasant, with lots of shade and screening of the road and cars. There were families with kids, and people with dogs, very chilled ambiance. My sister and I decided to try the Von Bismarck today. We are always on the lookout for good German food and this was scrumptious! It was the perfect day for casual outdoor seating! I had the schnitzel sandwich. The pickled onions, cucumbers and sauce added so much flavor to this incredible meal. The French fries were perfection. My sister doesn't usually like anything on her bratwurst, but she loved the way this brat was served and enjoyed dipping her fries into the extra cheese sauce that was left from the pretzel. The service was impeccable and the gorgeous flowers were icing on the cake! We will be trying out the dinner menu soon!! read more

This was EXACTLY what we were tonight for tonight. Wanted to sit outside and try something new. This was all that and more! The food is simple, fresh, full-flavored, and beautifully presented. The service was exceptional (Shout out to Destiny!). The majority of the property is outdoor seating, bringing home the beer-garden vibe. We shared the pork schnitzel, Smoked & Fried Chicken w/ honey, a side of sauerkraut, and a couple very cold, extra tasty German beers! This is the best way to summarize the quality of the food and the overall experience. I HATE sauerkraut. Never understood those that like it. Something about it's presentation, the other sounds, and the overall vibe prompted me to try it. I GET IT NOW! The additional flavor, acid, and punch cut right through the other rich foods, and I loved the whole package! Stop swiping and go here! read more
Walking up it smelled amazing. The fire was going on the grill and it was a perfect night for sitting outside. We started with a pretzel and cheese. The mustard was YUMMY! Classic stone mustard but quite a lot of horseradish kick. The Obatzda cheese spread was mild and warm. To drink we had the Rothaus, described as a "very hoppy pils" by our server. It was light but earthy like a European beer but also not just a traditional pils. The hops added bite without the bitterness of traditionally hoppy styles like IPA. We shared two large plates and a side. The perfectly tender, perfectly breaded, perfectly fried pork Shweine schnitzel with a lemony arugula salad was delicious. The Rauchhhnchen fried and smoked chicken with honey was all that. The thick batter was crunchy and the chicken was tender. The honey added some softness and sweet. Our side was the sauerkraut. I love sauerkraut but my husband is not such a fan. BUT even he c went in for seconds. It was a mild kraut with a good balance of the tart and the seasoning. Next time we're trying the gem salad, fire roasted sauerkraut, and brauts. Everything that went by for other tables was beautiful. Can't wait to go again. read more

The atmosphere was nice and friendly. Chad, the bartender, is super friendly (and was easy on the eyes). The food is enormous in serving size. Easy to share if you're so inclined. I did end up ordering wine basically because I was fascinated by the name. Perspektive Rot. It was pretty potent wine I might say. Okay, the food in pics! And we have lots to take home. This place is a gem in the Wells District. After driving by so many times and only living a few blocks away, it was long overdue and I'm glad I finally checked it out. Street parking can be found on Cheney St. and Wells Ave, there isn't a whole lot of parking on-site but plenty of street parking can be found on the surrounding streets. The ambiance alone is very inviting. With two very large spacious patios, seating at the outdoor cooking area, and a great indoor bar space, there isn't a bad seat in the house. This place definitely has one of the best outdoor patios in Reno/Sparks, hands down. This place truly prides themselves on providing an authentic German experience. Service was fantastic, but the food was amazing. My friend and I shared the Pretzel with house mustard, quark (dry curd cheese), and obatzda (Bavarian) cheese spread, Berliner Curry Fries, and Salt Roasted Beets. Sorry didn't get a photo of the pretzel and beets, but all very delicious options. I was obsessed with the Curry Fries seasoned with the perfect amount of Curry, topped with green onions and served with tasty house curry ketchup and aioli. Their menu is seasonal, so make sure to get in and try their summer offerings before they disappear. Now the cocktails! The selection of available German beers is impressive, they even offer a wheel of beers to share with friends, but today it was all about the cocktails! They have a full bar, so if beer is not your jam, the cocktails are plentiful. We started with the Freezling, a Riesling slushie w/lemon. This cocktail was small, but mighty and slightly dangerous, if you drink a few. The flavors were refreshing, with a hint of sweet. I highly suggest trying this tasty drink! We moved onto the house Margarita, it was perfectly salted and flavorful. I was definitely not disappointed. I'm looking forward to trying a large stein of beer on my next visit. As we slowly get over Covid - it's time to start dining at our fave restaurants in Reno/Tahoe again! We had a birthday and the celebrant decided on Von Bismarck. Umm-AOK by me! Called for reservation - no problem. We were absolutely SPOILED last night with amazing service - mostly from our server, Bree. But everyone pitched in when she was busy. Bartender bringing out drinks, manager coming by to check on us. It was a team effort. The FOOD.. was AMAZING! Schnitzel and Spaetzle and sauerkraut (how do they get it to taste that good) and roasted pork and wursts (the best wursts) and radicchio salad and I can't even remember all the wonderful things that graced our table. The drinks and beer selection were also great. I really enjoyed a cucumber/celery drink that made you feel healthy while you got tipsy. Gotta love that. Looking forward to warmer evenings out on the patio with the smell of grilled meats and beer wafting through the air. YES! read more

Von Bismarck's Happy Hour is from Noon - 4pm Tuesday through Friday and features $2 Sion Kölsch.
It says the seating is family style, do we have to share a table with people we don't know?
They also have smaller tables and seating areas
Yelp says there are vegan options, but other than a couple of sides, I'm not seeing anything. Am I missing something? I'd give anything for a vegan (portabello?) schnitzel!
Their menu changes frequently so call ahead before you go to see what they have. The last 3 times I was there the menu was different every time. The chef is very creative.

I didn't see anything explicitly labelled gluten free, but definitely a few options that should be. Small kitchen though, so odds are that there will be some exposure if that's a concern
