    Wine Tasting
    Maggie M.

Historical and the oldest winery in Wisconsin. They have a variety of categories for wine tasting. I tried the Favorites category 6 for $6. My favorite was the Crimson Royale. The Artificial Intelligence Red and White were interesting. Lady behind the counter told me it was created by AI from the data of people submitting what they like in the wines they drink.

We wanted to find a winery to stop and enjoy a glass while visiting Sturgeon Bay. We stopped here on the way back to Green Bay. Didn't know they were one of the oldest wineries in Wisconsin. Lots of good options to choose from, there is something for everyone. Not a wine drinker? They also serve hard cider here as well. You can get that either on tap or by the bottle. What is really nice about this winery is their location right on a canal adjacent to Lake Michigan I'm a beautiful, historic building. Beautiful views and very cool place outside and inside to enjoy your treats. It looks like live music and events are hosted in the back during the busy season. Prices are very reasonable and the staff were super friendly. We would be back, even the little town was fun to explore.

This is a great place to visit if you are going through Algoma! We ended up buying 6 bottles of wine and having a tasting of 8 wines each at the counter. Their wines are unique and delicious -- highly recommended! Our tasting server, Erin, was very nice and knowledgeable about all the wines. She answered all of our questions and helped us with the undertones and flavors of each wine. They have a nice space and we're limiting it to 20 guests, which felt safe. The building is a historical site and right on the river, so it's super pretty!

As overlords of Captains Walk Winery in Green Bay, vin Stiehl is an excellent winery in their own right. Makers of the widely popular Naughty Girl wine (which can be had at Costco for less than the winery price), they also have a wide assortment of quality wines. They make both fine wines from California and Washington sourced grapes, and sweet wines and yummy ciders. $6 tastings are a worthwhile value. Recommend

So much fun at the winery with Ari and Ciders with Valerie! MuchasGracias from the San Diegans!

Thank you Valerie at Ciders and Ari at the winery for taking care of our San Diego and Stugeon Bay clan. So wonderful. So many memories and great wine and cider!

My husband and I found this winery 28+ years ago and I came back today for my 55th birthday. I was helped with Ariana and Shellie, who were delightful and very helpful. The wine is amazing and very vast in taste and texture. I highly recommend coming in for a tasting and leaving with a case. I couldn't do a separate review for the Von Stiehl Cider Bar, so I am adding to my review. Valerie at the Cider Bar was just as friendly and helpful as everyone at the Winery. When I didn't like one of my choices in my flight, she made a substation that I liked much better. I highly recommend stopping at both the Winery and the Cider Bar anytime.

OK--I've been coming to Von Stiehl longer than I can remember. I remember eating wine crackers while the adults tasted. They have a pretty decent selection of wines on the tasting menu, and depending on what's open or recently rotated, they're sometimes able to make recommendations or substitutions if they have a bottle open behind the bar. I like that there is something for everyone--I prefer sweeter wines but the rest of my family prefers more dry wines and we can all taste something we like. With the number of years I've been coming here, I have old favorites, but I also enjoy trying new wines and usually discover something new to love each time I visit. Plus, its basically tradition at this point. A must-do!

Gorgeous building, beautiful scenery, and a HUGE selection of wines and ciders. I'm not normally a wine drinker, but I came here with some girlfriends on vacation for a tasting and ended up leaving with a case to bring home!! The girls here know EXACTLY what they're doing and made the best recommendations based on my preferences. Maybe I am a wine drinker after all ;) Definitely making this a stop anytime I'm in the area, and you should too!!

Decided to come check this place out while visiting some friends in Door County. We heard a lot of good things and stopped by today. It's a very cool place with a lot of different options. I really liked the Mourvèdre in my tasting and decided to get a bottle of that. Heidi was very patient and explained everything to us. She made our visit very pleasant and enjoyable.

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this winery before. Although there seem to be a lot of places I haven't reviewed yet. Maybe I'll get caught up this year. This is the first stop on our annual Door County Winter Fest weekend trip. The space is beautiful, very classy looking with lots of dark colored wood and fancy furniture. There is also a second floor that looks perfect for private parties and group tastings. You are given up to 6 samples at no charge and most of the wine is under $20. I don't think I sampled one that I didn't like. One of the wines is made with cherry brandy distilled in Milwaukee at Great Lakes Distillery! Yes, it was awesome! The staff is also friendly and knowledgeable. You can find their wines at larger liquor stores, but I think you should visit the winery to explore all of the options you won't find in a store. I look forward to visiting each year!

Nice place to relax. Taste test six complementary wines! Small area with big flavor! We felt welcomed! My personal favorite is the Orange Muscat! $15 Our server was inviting and explained each wine. Her favorite is the Crimson Royale, which reminded me of Welches! I will be returning when back in Algoma!

His wine recommendations and tasting guidance were spot-on, but what truly impressed me was how he explained why I disliked dry wines. He took the time to teach us about wine in a way that was engaging, approachable, and incredibly informative. I even found myself fact-checking a few of the things he shared afterward--and he was absolutely right! I left with a much better understanding of wine and a completely different appreciation for it. The wines themselves were outstanding. Every sample was thoughtfully selected, and we loved them so much that we ended up taking home three bottles. It's rare to find a winery where every recommendation feels like a winner, but Lake Fire nailed it. The winery itself is just as memorable as the wine. The atmosphere is trendy, upscale, elegant, and welcoming all at the same time. My favorite spot was the charming outdoor garden tucked behind the tasting room. Sitting in the sunshine with a glass of incredible wine while overlooking the water felt absolutely magical. Lake Fire Winery has created something truly special. Between the knowledgeable and passionate staff, award-winning wines, and one of the most beautiful waterfront settings in Door County, this was easily one of the highlights of our trip. We can't wait to come back--and we'll definitely be recommending it to everyone we know!

This business makes there own Beer, wine and alcohol products where the diversity of what they make is kind of amazing considering the footprint/size of their facility. Relative to the tastings, these are free of charge where customers are encouraged to tip instead to show their appreciation for what they have been served. Duriing our trip here we tasted numerous spirits to include their house made gin, rum, vodka, Brandy, Bourbon and various flavored moonshines. I thought the liquors with the exception of the Moonshines were just OK but the moonshines were surprisingly quite good. These 60 proof drinks come across like a liquor based on the alcohol by volume content with a similar creamy texture. The flavor profiles are quite unique to anything I have ever tasted before where their flavors include Grandma's Apple Pie, Salted Caramel, Orange Slice and Lemon Drop shine to name just some of them. Every Moonshine bottle we tasted was so tasty where I was really enamored with all of them and at the end of the day ended up buying the Lemon Drop and salted Caramel although it was hard to stop at just these two. Relative to the facility it has a non descript outer view where the inside comes across more of a typical bar venue more so than a winery/distillery which is a bit deceiving in my mind considering how much product they make here. No stacked wine barrels or a sneak peak of the Distillery or Barrel rooms to reinforce what this business is and add the cute ambiance you get at many of the wineries I visit. Relative to Staff, They were exceptionally friendly and good on the repours for our free tasting which definately added a lot to our tasting event. Overall a very pleasant time was had by our group where I see myself returning again in the future and sampling their other ware's and probably buying more moonshine!
