I was very pleasantly surprised by this delicious Thai Vietnamese eatery. Surprised because my mother-in-law redirected us there while we were reroute to a pizza joint -- and all I wanted was pizza! It was very clean and the two servers we encountered were both particularly friendly. We ordered a nice assortment of vegetarian and chicken dishes, including spicy eggplant and Panang curry. I also had a really interesting bourbon cocktail. (They have a full bar.) We are vacation here and will be back a few times over the summer. I will definitely be back! read more

I spontaneously walked into this place due to its convenient location and was pleasantly surprised. I'm pretty critical of Asian food, especially outside of New York and other major US cities. Anyway, they must be making a killing since it's at a busy intersection and across the street from Berkshire Medical Center. I came in for lunch as soon as they opened and it seemed to fill up pretty quickly as time passed. The appetizer sampler was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad I went with it. Everything on the platter was delicious - they were like little packages of flavor, each of a different profile. The pad thai was authentic and the portion was huge, even for the lunch special. My fiancé and I eloped in the Berkshires! We are staying in a timeshare nearby, and wanted a memorable meal for our wedding night. We have some allergies and food preferences. (Gluten allergy and vegetarian, so no fish sauce) I called and the host took the time to guide us through the menu. The result was a perfect celebration dinner! (Lots of leftovers, too). I've eaten here twice now - both as take out. The first time in March, then again last week. Both times were with friends with different dietary and personal preferences, so we ordered a wide variety of dishes. I find the food to be tasty and they clearly use fresh ingredients. I will definitely order again - but need to work out heat/flavor levels when ordering. I've had their pad thai (veg) twice and although yummy, could use some punch. Ordered the Tom Yum and a salad for takeout. The Tom Yum did not have much chicken or at all for $12 00. The salad was so so, not too bad but not great. Could be fresher. A little deceiving from the outside maybe because of the location, but this is one of the best places I've found here in Pittsfield. Everything I've had to eat here has been delicious and amazing. I've been going to Vongs since they opened and loved the food. Last week I had a bad experience though. I'm allergic to tomatoes and informed the waitress of such. When I got my plate there was sliced tomatoes on it. I asked then to make a new plate as I get sick with even a small amount of tomato. The new plate cam back in only one minute. I took this fast turnaround as they had just removed the tomatoes and sent the plate back out. Turns out I should have gone with my instinct because I did get sick and had to take medication because someone didn't take my allergy seriously. read more

Vong's is my go-to Thai place when I'm visiting family in Massachusetts. I have gotten takeout a few times which has been good but not as great as it is when able to dine-in. I have only had drunken noodles and tom yum soup from here, but will definitely try a curry next time I'm in town. read more

A treasure in Pittsfield!! The food is spot on every single time and we are obsessed with the pad Thai! When in season, highly recommend mango sticky rice for dessert! I used to work around the corner from this spot, in the old Paul's restaurant on Wahconah and Seymour, and was practically giddy when the sign for Vong's Vietnamese Cuisine went up. It took a while to open and I no longer work in the neighborhood, but I'm happy to make a trip out every now and again to have lunch with friends at Vong's. This is yet another offering from powerhouse restaurateur Jae Chung, and it doesn't disappoint. The decor is attractive, with lots of dark woods and Asian art, plus bright cobalt glassware on the tables. It's also spic-and-span clean, thanks partly to it being brand-new and partly to a conscientious staff. It has bar, two-top, and group seating, making Vong's friendly to solo, couple, and party diners alike. So far I've only been for lunch, and it's very reasonably priced, with most plates in the $10-15 range. The spring rolls were delicately crunchy and not too oily, though they could benefit from a more flavorful combination of vegetables inside. The yellow curry with tofu was nicely seasoned and rich (thanks to the coconut milk), with cubes of tofu that have been fried to crisp-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside perfection. It could've been spicier, but, then again, I was busy chatting with friends and didn't specify that I prefer my food to set a brush fire in my mouth, so I'll chalk that up as my mistake. My one complaint here is that the green side salad that comes with the curry should be served on a separate plate, so the lettuce leaves don't wilt from the heat and get sodden with curry. My companions had pad thai and fried rice with chicken, respectively, and both sang their dishes' praises. The service was quick and attentive, and we didn't have any of the issues an earlier reviewer mentioned about staggered entrees, so it's possible he just hit Vong's on a bad day. Or maybe we hit it on a good one. Either way, I'm planning to go back...and soon. read more

It's about time Pittsfield had some quality Vietnamese food! The highlight of every trip I take to Boston or New York city is getting a great bowl of pho. Visited here with my family last night and was amazed at the quality and authenticity of every dish ordered. I'm thrilled that now I don't have to travel as far when I'm craving Vietnamese. Vong's Vietnamese and Thai style food is the real deal. The flavors are fresh and seem authentic. The parking is difficult, because the place is very popular. Let's start with the nice spicy seafood soup, that was a good as I have had anywhere. I then went seafood crazy and had the very flavorful Seafood Prik Pow, that was filled with scallops, shrimp, calamari and three large mussels on the half shell. I could not have enough. A friend of mine went for the similar, but spicier, Pad Grapow Seafood. That is defined as street vendor style. Honestly, it looked similar to the Prik Pow -- but had a kick! Outstanding, as always. We've been dining at Vongs since 2017 and have never had a meal that was less than outstanding! We just did a takeout and, though we live 25 minutes away, the food was still very hot when we opened it up. We had the Red Curry with Chicken and the Chicken Mango Curry and they were great. We stopped in here, after visiting a nearby bedding outlet. I had seen the restaurant pop up on my maps app, and my friend and I love Thai food. The decor was beautifully designed Asian art and Buddha, of course. The lunch specials menu was almost overwhelming; many delicious sounding dishes to choose! We ended up with the Thai basil with chili sauce, vegetables and tofu, and the Massaman curry with chicken. More than enough to eat, with salads included on the side. We showed up on Monday to find it closed, so we gave it another shot on Tuesday and found the place moderately busy. The server showed up repeatedly at our table to ask if we are ready and then just left. She never stayed long enough to ask if we had questions or needed help. I ended up ordering a big bowl of chicken noodle soup (Kway Tiew Gai), my wife got the Pad Thai. They aren't kidding when they call it a big bowl. It was immense and the noodles were terrific. My wife enjoyed her meal as well. Something about the place put us off a bit, I think it was the level of chaos in the place. Well, that was disappointing. Our Wednesday night out and, with our taste buds anticipating fresh Thai food, we arrived at Vong's and our first impressions were favorably. However, one waiter for the whole restaurant (but he was great) was a small alarm. The appetizers of calamari with a ginger sauce and the pork filled spring rolls were served promptly but the calami was generic and the dipped sauce was bottled. My wife had the rolls. They were lukewarm and stale tasting. The same bottled sauce with them! For our entrees we had sweet and sour shrimp which I swear was made with catsup. I had the spicy beef with veggies. We threw them for a loop by requesting veggies instead of rice. Their answer was some steam Chinese broccoli?? Both our dishes were watery and the vegetables were practically raw.
