Saved by the bell so to speak. I am impressed at how the Station Manager came to my rescue when I had mistakenly asked for more on my purchase than was on my ARCO gift card. As a result I had to call into the ARCO customer service number and request a reset on my card. At 72 years of age the printing on the back of the card was too small for me to read even with eyeglasses. The store manager took my card back into her office called in for me and resolved the issue. I thanked her and apologize for the mistake that I will not do again. She was proficient in the matter and deserves praise along with the attendant. Thanks Ma'am(s). read more

In my continuing quest to slum it up on Yelp.com, I will today have the honor of being the first to review the Arco AMPM at the corner of Grand Avenue and Lamont Avenue in Pacific Beach. Not that this is a bad business here-just that I would like to elevate my reviews back up to L.A. arty functions and cool cafes-just that this is where I was so here I am! This Arco gas station is a popular spot to gas up-because it is located right before you hit Interstate 5 freeway entrance coming from PB. It also has some of the cheapest gas prices in the pricey gas beach community area so many a car or truck will stop to pay a visit to the pumps here. There is a convenience store on site and an ATM machine. You can pay at the pump if you like or go inside-where I HAVE NEVER once seen a person working there whose first language is English! Now there is not one thing wrong with that-it is just a fact I thought I would note. The customer service is spotty-today someone was training a new guy and it took a while. Other times the senorita's will be yakking and they ignore you at the register till you wave the dollars in their faces. Just stating the facts, maam! But because their prices are competitive and they just started serving what could be the most terrible or most wonderful (still yet to try) iced strawberry-banana latte-I will give this gas station the benefit of the doubt and 4 Stars. I rarely go to am/pm because everyone swears they put water in their gas. I do notice that even on a full tank gas burns faster than it does when I go to Chevron. But anyways I only went for nachos this time because my gf just had to have them. We went to the am/pm in point loma & the cheese machine was out of order(typical) So were riding around looking for nachos like crackheads looking for a rock. We went to another one the cheese worked but no nachos. You've gotta be kidding me! Finally stumbled upon this one I went into this small establishment & yea the workers were rude & too busy holding their own conversation to assist me so I showed them by doubling up on the nachos TAKE THAT Paid $2 for about $5 worth of chips. I was trying to pay for gas when I heard the store manager (Laura) screaming at both of her employees for about 5 min about how they had to do things around the store her way if not she was going to let them go. It was very annoying hearing over and over about how they had to do their job after she left. then she went out side with an employee and she was being really rude to him. Horrible service! Horrible cashier helper, very rude & unpleasant. The sign on the side of the building says 24 hours & all I wanted was to get gas in my car but the lady behind the register said "I can't help you, no more customers" & all I said was "I just need some gas" & she said "nope can't help you & then said but you can use credit or debit". She was very rude & she was helping a customer inside already so that wasn't fair & it was only 9:43pm! The WORST gas station in Pacific Beach! I walked in to get gas and cigarettes. Three clerks standing at the desk and me, no one else in the store. All three couldn't figure out how to process a sale for the 4 redbulls and candy bottle pop they were buying with ebt card. As Im waiting the line builds up , about 5 people deep. One attendant turns around and said sorry!?! Sorry for what ?? Not doing your job? Wasting everyones time/money including your employers? When they finished all three am/pm employees gave me attitude. It was like they were bothered by me waiting. It took about 8 min to put money on a pump and buy smokes.
