Any place is good if you can buy jellybeans with scriptures written on them. Easter weekend 2012.

Very good supermarket, but I don't like to be asked to donate to a charity every time I buy my groceries.

Fourth of July weekend we decided to head up to the cabin for some cooler weather. One important…read morestop before we head to the cabin was a quick visit to James store. Kernville was wall-to-wall people everyone enjoying the Mountains, sunshine, Kern, river, and America's 250th birthday. James store was busy as might be expected on the big holiday weekend. I headed to the meat department too many choices. I decided on 2 habanero and 2 black pepper chicken kebabs to barbecue and a 6 pack of carnation drumsticks for dessert. The store looked great decorated and fully stocked they were ready for 4 July holiday. Shelly my cashier was super, all check stands were open very little waiting. Our barbecued kebabs Saturday night were delicious seasoned perfect and the marinade just right. The drumsticks hit the spot as well. Happy birthday America

After I explained to her at the time of purchase this was not communicated she stated how they are not required to inform customers. She then emphasized how it is a red tag items which means no refunds. Once again I explained how I was not aware of this as it was not communicated. She continued to stated how it's not required to inform customers about this. All I was asking for was an exchange for a different size. Instead they tried forcing me to purchase the exact same bathing suit in a different t size. I have been a customer here on family vacation for 25 years. After this moment I will not support this business. I will be contacting the owner as she stated. Simple communication could have cleared this up from the beginning, and the managers approached has improvement for customer service skills.

Bodfish!…read more Bodfish??? What the hell is a "Bodfish"? Well folks, turns out it's a "census-designated place" (not even a town, how about that!!) near Lake Isabella with a population of just 1956, as of the 2010 Census. If you're still lost, it's approximately 32 miles (That's ALL it was?) east-northeast of Bakersfield, up in the mountains. Now I'm sure you are asking "what were you doing there?" Yes I was wondering the same thing. LOL I went to look at (and buy) a vintage washing machine and this is where it was... out in the boonies! After I got it loaded and started heading back toward civilization, I see this little local market and decided to stop and grab some munchies for the 3.5 hour drive to San Luis Obisbo. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/country-korner-market-bodfish-2?userid=Jcbj338NjXtSiqvK3LYghQ#gM9a7g9RBgYClfXnUmMb_w I walk in and the guy behind the counter smiles and greets me. I look around and grab a Nemo's Banana cake (haven't had one in years, YUM), some peanut M&M's and a bag of Cheetos puffs. The guy rings me up, I pay and I'm on my way out the door. It's a cute little store and has what you'd expect from a korner market in a little, out of the way place like Bodfish..... snacks, nibbles, munchies, sodas, beer, wine and what-not. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/country-korner-market-bodfish-2?userid=Jcbj338NjXtSiqvK3LYghQ#MVQXY3c6rnp3g-29J_QEwQ It was a nice little store, I'm glad I stopped!

TRI TIP!!! We stayed across the street at the Sequoia Lodge, and in the morning you can see them start the smoker and that sweet smell... Their little restaurant is phenomenal. The various hot sauces are a great touch, but the service and smiles that come with it are the cherry on top. Anything with tri-tip, but especially the breakfast burrito and their French toast (no tri tip, lol) are to die for.

The staff is genuinely friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. The store has everything you could need--from camping and fishing supplies to snacks, drinks, and groceries--and the deli is outstanding. The tri-tip is incredible, and everything tastes fresh and homemade. It's the perfect stop whether you're grabbing breakfast before a day on the river or picking up supplies for your trip. The small-town atmosphere and excellent customer service make this place a true local gem. I can't recommend it enough! Riverkern General Store and Deli is an absolute must-visit when you're in the Kern River area.
