This VONS bakery doesn't even deserve a star. I week before my daughter birthday I went in to order a 10 and 8 inch tier cake and 24 cupcakes. I spoke to the Head decorator ( who mentioned that she'll be the one making my cake on the day of )and I specifically told her and showed pictures of how I wanted my daughter cake to be girly since it was a PJ Mask theme . she explained to me the whipped topping would hold in the heat. I told her I wanted the bottom tier red and the top green and blue boarder and a fruit filling. I got a green bottom and blue top and red border. And ALL THE FILLING COMING OUT not due to the heat more like the over filled it or filled it while it was hot. We called the bakery as soon as the cake wasn't a cake anymore in hopes it wouldn't get worse if put on ice. But it did. I had to basically reforest the bottom GREEN tier. The person at the bakery got really offensive and wanted me to bring back the cake. Are they seriously why in the world would i leave my daughters party. So they offered me a discount. Sorry but I spent $70 on this and no discount will make up for the stress I had to deal with And the cupcakes where supposed to come with sprinkles. Again alll wrong. I'm updating my review based on a recent shopping experience. Vons is still not my go-to store because of the high prices. However, I'm glad to share the services has improved a lot since I last frequented. Today, I was short on time so i didn't make my trip to my usual grocery. I found what I was looking - frozen Stouffer's lagsana, party size. It was on "sale" for $15.99. I had purchased this party tray at other groceries and was pretty sure it cost a lot less. A quick ring to a nearby Staters Bro confirmed they have the identical on "sale for $10.99". I was not surprised, again Vons has higher prices... At check out, I was ready to dump the tray if Vons don't price match but the male cashier very quickly offered to lower the price without making a big fuss. At the hot food deli section, Vons started their "kick off Thursday" today. $5.99 for a box of 8 pc chicken. A large gentleman who was the only one working advised among the selections which were fresher and which cooked earlier today. He also offered if I were to wait 15mins, fresh ones in the kitchen will be ready. Still, i chose to buy the older batch. He was so kind to drop a few smaller pieces. I thought that's very nice. I left the store feeling good. Back at home, I realized in a hurry to rush off, I'd left the box of chicken on the top tray of the shopping cart in the parking lot. I immediately rang and explained, hoping they will send someone out to the lot and perhaps rescue the chicken since it was less than 20mins I left the cart. Instead, the man on the other end of the line, Ramsey, who identified himself as the assistant store manager apologized and asked me to return the store and pick up a fresh batch. How nice!!! I drove back and to my joy, found the boxed chicken exactly where I left it. It was sitting in the hot sun getting more baked. I hope no one has stuck their fingers in it . There were other carts behind mine but seemed like either no one saw it or bothered to pick it up. I am glad I didn't have to return the store for a new box and but I'm more thrilled to report Vons wants their customers to be happy and so went to the extent to cover for an oversight that is not any fault of theirs. read more

I'm not a big Vons shopper - I always feel that their prices are on the high side, but I just had to comment on how nice the store looked. I stopped in here after dropping my son of at school just because I needed a couple of items quick. The store had a nice feel when you walk in - almost like a Gelsons. They seem to have a really nice flower shop! One item I needed was on the baking aisle. I was so impressed by all the baking extras they offered - way more than just colored sprinkles and cupcake liners! It's good to know they have so much in case I'm ever in a pinch and I need something after Michaels has already closed. I wasn't in here very long but it was a nice shopping experience. I'd come back if I only needed a couple of items and I just want to do a quick purchase after dropping off my son at school. Took me awhile to come on here and leave my review on this matter because I have not ever had a problem with the bakery department before until now.. When placing an order for the bakery they only need one day in advance and that's what I have also been told..I made an order January 27th late afternoon for my sons FIRST birthday cake for January 29th..a full sheet and a personal..long story short, i get a call 30 minutes before my sons party start time that they have not made any of my cakes! I can't remember the lady's name (Irma or something like that)..her customer service was horrible and basically says either I go somewhere else or take what they have on hand..now I'm pissed and I start running my mouth..I did not cuss the lady out because I was raised right instead I raised my voice and told her do whatever it's out of my hands my sons party is about to start..she made the cake in less than 30 minutes and this is what was delivered to me I'm so hurt and ashamed that my son and family was presented this jacked up cake and now it's a constant nightmare reminder in every single picture that we will have to see forever!! This would be a one-star, but it's bumped up to two stars only because the staff's always been amazingly friendly, fast, and personable, despite the fact that they seem to be stretched thin. Unfortunately, it feels like the people running this store simply don't respect customers' time enough to budget enough staff to run the place smoothly. The vast majority of checkout stands are regularly unstaffed, and it's always a coin flip as to whether or not the self-checkout stands will be open. Multiple times, I've seen managers wait until cashiers are overwhelmed dealing with lines until they finally open the self-checkout stands. It's a weird dynamic. I paid over $32 for two Sea Bass "fillets"... what a mess. We opened them to get them ready and they were both tiny and two totally different sizes! I called and spoke with the manager, Brian. He said I could come back and return them... which I did. I bought something else for dinner. The guy at the counter was not friendly. They need someone who knows how to fillet a fish back there!!!! I always forget how terrible the organization skills the people have here. I don't get alcohol that often but for something so cheap, its so difficult to find. No its not in the lock up cabinet. Its not only the alcohol, but there has been other well known stuff that i can't seem to find. Even before covid. The other thing is, the bathroom is always disgusting. Toilet paper all over the floor and pee on the toilet. Most of the time when I go in there, there is no soap. I only come here when I am at my boyfriends house and I really need something. Came back to this store, hoping things would be better but things just keep getting worse. (What can I say? I live down the street and it's close.) I defy you to find anyone who was following any rules of social distancing, of going down the aisle the correct way, of wearing a mask. With all the hysteria we are living through, how could management and corporate not have any logistics laid out in regards to the influx of shoppers looking for very specific items. Not only letting the masses organize themselves in lines outside, but to let us wait an hour after posted operating hours to only to find out you started the day being out of stock. No sign? This place has the WORST customer service ever. The employees are all rude; I have yet to find a respectful one. No hi, no thank you, no goodbye, just awkward dead silence when checking out. Thank your ROSE for your A+ Quality service. It's late night I Can't sleep, it's almost a new day and before sun rises I must leave this review before I forget. Visited 3/3/19 around 9:30 Pm and I went for a few items. I requested assistance in the Bakery department and after a couple minutes Rose who was at the Register at the time came to help us right away. Bakery was closed and I needed a cake and rose was able to help us find what we wanted, and boxed it up without ever questioning us. She was very friendly during the whole time and even after she gave us the cake she took care of us at the register again. Not sure if this Vons is understaffed or is just a slow store but Rose gave us exceptional A+ service without hesitation. I Noticed it was only her and a manager who was closing up other registers rather then taking care of customers. Rose was handling the register and other departments while doing her job and more. Well hidden away inside this awesome from the outside full service Vons store is a pharmacy. I mean what will they think of next, putting a bank branch and a starbucks in here too? Ohh yeah well they kinda already did that... so why not turn it into a pharmacy too. So I confidently stroll into the store and stop dead... where is this thing... Pro Tip: The pharmacist takes lunch from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm *AHHHHHHHHHHH* I showed up at 1:17 pm... *grumbles* So I present my prescription to the pharm tech and he says well when do you want this... Vons has wifi. Bet you didn't know that! I was looking for a lunch spot with wifi. I was drawn into this shopping center by Subway, then I saw the Starbucks sign. Turns out that it's located within Vons. Well, if I don't like the Starbucks food, I could just grab something from Vons. Right? First I used the men's room. A roll of paper towels was left on the baby changing area. Ugh. I perused the Starbucks counter and looked at their scones. I wanted real food, though. I saw the soup station, then turned and looked at the Signature Cafe counter. Score! They had a special (with Vons card) of a turkey pesto avocado sandwich meal deal for $5. I'm in! I ordered my sandwich, and decided on chips and water to complete my meal. Problem was, they didn't have the exact brand and bottle of water specified on the sign, and it rang up wrong. I looked all around for the "correct" water, but to no avail. They did have other ways to complete the meal, so I went with a small soup. This is why I go to lunch at 11:30. No one else was in line. Finally, I was able to complete the transaction. Whew! The food was all right. Actually, I'd say pretty good, at least as good as what I would have gotten at Subway. Plus, Vons has wifi, and their seating area is pretty empty (when you get there before noon). Oh, the only place where I could find any napkins was the Starbucks counter. All in all, if you want to get some work done (or just check out Yelp) while having a decent lunch, this is not a bad place to do it. You know you're an adult when you get excited about a good grocery store. I don't know why this Vons has such low reviews. It's much bigger than my neighborhood Vons, so I love coming here! They have a great selection and are well-stocked. It seems like they carry some brands/products that aren't available at other Vons locations. The store is super clean, and they have a Starbucks with a few tables. No self-checkouts, which is a bummer, but they seem to be staffed well enough that it isn't a big issue. read more

Maybe it was poor luck on my end, but I ordered groceries online so that I could have it placed in my trunk. I arrived and received my groceries in my trunk as planned. I glanced at the receipt thinking the amount was lower because they didn't have everything in stock, which was fine. About 80% of my order was wrong!!! I requested no substitutes. I called and then they told me to drive back. I parked and called them, and the girl told me I had to bring them in. I waited at customer service and had to return everything!! After that, I ended up having to do my own shopping at a grocery store I wasn't familiar with (and not close to my house since the one near me didn't have availability for this service online). Come to find out, almost ALL of the items I requested were in stock! I did see employees shopping for items, so I think it was the same process as mine, but I don't think they knew how to shop, as they seemed really young. I even got random items I never came close to requesting. I think they just grabbed what they thought would work. I have my 70 year old mother who lives with our family and now I hope that I didn't jeopardize her health or ours because I had to go into the store. It's very hard to find an amazing florist/ magician. I love the produce here, it's fresh the staff always smiles and the store is always clean until I get to the floral department. I LOVE Flowers and Sara and her team have always been amazing. I like to go make a mess over there picking what flowers I want and they are so professional, warm and knowledgeable. I hate leaving there.. Sara is fantastic!! She is a true artist to the trade, with an amazing creative design esthetic, and has a beautiful balance of patience and suggestions. I was looking for a couple of ripe avocados and asked the produce guy on duty if he might have some in back. He quickly answered No and went back to doing what he was doing.... A few minutes later I asked another employee who actually went and looked and came back with a them, which is why I'm giving 2 rather than 1 star. I do my grocery shopping after 8pm because that's when get off work. I never had an issue before until tonight. I wanted some fresh shrimp but was told "no" . The butcher claimed that the fresh seafood station closes at 8 which I have NEVER heard of before. Recently Vons started an app(similar to Target's cartwheel) which I installed on my phone(since I do, sorry did, a lot of shopping addy von's) the funny thing is, their own employees don't even know how to use the app!!! Earlier today I went there and spent around 120 dollars; the only cashiers open were the Express ones, so, I go there and the lady starts ringing up. I told her that on my last visit another associate told me since I linked my card top the app instead of scanning the card she could just use the app. She said"put your phone number in",I told her my phone number never goes through! She insisted, I did what she asked, nothing happened. By the time I was pulling my Von's card on my phone she used an store card! I told her I have my card on the phone and would like to use my own card, so I get credit for what I'm spending. She says"YOU CAN'T PAY WITH YOUR PHONE MA'AM " at this point she is looking around, increasing her voice volume and rolling her eyes to get attention from other costumers! Then she keeps talking with the same loud and rude voice," if you want to use your own card I have to cancel the whole thing and plus I can't scan your card from your phone". I told her other cashiers always put the number in. She says"I TOLD YOU IT'S NOT POSSIBLE, I DID YOU A FAVOR BY USING STORE CARD TO GET YOUR DISCOUNT, YOU HAVE A NICE DAY, DO YOU WANT YOUR RECEIPT OR NOT" at this point I wad so upset and frustrated that didn't even get the receipt and left. While I was walking away, she yelled again"YOU HAVE A NICE DAY" and started shaking her head! This is a shame! I'm a RN, BSN, I dedicated 18 years of my life helping people in and out of hospitals. Even on my lowest mood(when I was taking care of my sick parents and dealing with hundreds of other issues at home)I wad never rude to anybody. But I guess somehow my accent gives the right to someone like her to talk to me in a way that I'm stupid. read more
