Generally good prices on most things, with outstanding prices on some things. Selections are always changing. It is my go-to place for tomatoes because they tend to be ripe/ready to eat. Check expiration dates because they seem to get a lot of items for a good price because they are nearing their expiration or "best by" date. My issues with them are two-fold: 1) they do an exceedingly poor job of paying attention to how many customers are waiting in line to check out. There is no self-checkout and the checker pays no attention to the line and therefore does not call for help in the form of a second checker in a timely manner. Yesterday I hunted down an employee in an aisle and asked him to call a second checker because the line was long. His response "Well, I'm on my lunch break. You can ask the checker to do it" Sorry, but that is complete B.S. customer service that should be addressed. 2) they don't do a good job of having the prices posted on the shelves so it is a guessing game on the costs in some cases.. read more

I have been going here for three years. I love Grocery Outlet, their prices and how much organic items they sell. I do get frustrated with their cashiers. I bring my own bags and put them up on the counter as the cashier is checking. More often than not I'll bag my own groceries by choice. More often than not even after all my groceries are scanned the cashier stands there and watches me bag my own food. So I don't say anything, just smile and keep bagging. You'd think they'd want me out of there to help the other people behind me, nope, so the people in line and the cashier watch me bag my own food. It's very frustrating. Also just recently bought a roast on the 31st that had expired on the 30th, I didn't notice, usually I don't mind a day or two. I got home and wanted to marinate it, so I open it up and it smells horrible. I look at the date and yep it's expired. You'd think the QAQC would be a little better and they'd pull expired pork off the shelf. read more

Used to be great, now not so good. After dropping Senior discount Thursdays, I was told today to bag my own groceries, to "help speed up the process". I don't have a problem with that at all, but they are not set up in the least for this to happen in an efficient way, like other places where it is the norm. This is an outlet store, so don't come here with a list. I really like this location. Nice shopping center and easy parking. We wander in here and grab snacks or stuff I've missed at the regular grocery. I've gotten organic foods and grass fed beef for great prices. The staff is what makes this store great. Thursdays are senior days and I overhear workers going out of their way to assist and get customers what they're looking for. Checkout cashiers are friendly and smiling. Interactions between coworkers are positive, which says a lot about the business and work environment. read more

I'm still not sure what to make of Grocery Outlet Bargain Market (similar time ALDI, but not quite)but I do shop here out of convenience since it's in the same lot as the gym I go to. It's pretty much empty every time I visit which is nice. Things I wasn't able to find here: a wine opener of all things (but tons of wine), fresh slices of pineapple. Other than that, they have tons of wine choices that are pretty good for the price and quality, Apple Pay, all the keto approved baking ingredients (coconut flour, erythritol) at a discount price. Store is always clean and workers are always helpful. It's great if you want to shop in total peace with no stress on finding parking or carts... kind of like the opposite of shopping at Trader Joes. read more

Do not come here if you're in a hurry. Period. No self-checkout and they only ever have one checkout lane open. A line of 4-5 people all with carts full of groceries, one slow checkout lane open, and a bunch of employees stocking shelves in the back. Nobody thinks to ask for another register to open. The cashier's don't even look up to see the line. And I'm not describing a one time thing, this is how the store always is. I guess if you want to save a few bucks and don't care if you have to just stand around for 10 minutes waiting to pay then it's fine but honestly it isn't really much cheaper than the major markets anyway. read more

1. Know how to put on signs that there is a limit in THE STORE for toilet paper and paper towels NO ONE HAS TO TELL YOU . Your manager should of known better. 2. Customers don't need to be treated like children yelling at people's faces saying there's a limit. "Do you want me to put up the sign if you want" quote on quote from the MANAGER. Your little sign should of been up first thing in the morning for customers to be aware! In the STORE Staff was Very disrespectful and rude even the "manager" here. Prices aren't actually lower here, but quality is. Be careful when buying bread. It might have mold. There are only a few things that cost less here and they're mainly items that have been discontinued or didn't sell at regular stores. read more

I've never had such a terrible shopping experience in our little city! Prices were advertised wrong on 2 items (they rang up at a higher price) associate was sarcastic and acted very childish when I pointed it out, she called her manager. Manager was rude and kept rolling her eyes. It's seriously not about a few dollars. That's absolutely not the point. Parking is never an issue in this revitalized shopping center. In fact, they have a stall and signage for veterans and families, too! The store is always clean, bright, and seems to be stocked plenty. They have a large selection of good quality wine, as well. This store is great for people who are vegan, keto-friendly, and even "regular" eaters. Lol. They just carry many different brands to help people stay focused on eating right for them. When you sign up via the website, they send daily WOW deals that come via email. These are often 40-70% off regular grocery store items and I love that they rarely have a quantity limitation. Owners Von and Thoa are super friendly and make a great team. Most, if not all the staff, reside in the city of Placentia. This store gives back to local non-profits AND has an incentive where they draw a customer's receipt and reimburse that person the dollar amount saved, compared to other grocery stores. I read an article online about this discount grocery chain that purchases close outs, extra stock and canceled orders from suppliers at reduced prices, passing the discounts onto shoppers. Almost equating this store to a Ross Dress for Less. Intrigued I stopped in and was not disappointed. So many bargains found, Local Harris Ranch ground beef 80/20 three lbs for $9.99, Raw Sugar brand scrubs and creams over 70% off retail, tons of high end organic products, a gallon of bulls eye bbq sauce for $2.99, organic blue/brown hen eggs for $4.99 with amber yolks that were incredible. My go to shopping spot now. Love this place. read more

This place is a no brainier. They buy some new and some closeouts for big profit margins. The expiration dates can be close to exp. So you have to watch for that.... There are fantasic deals when you know what you are looking for. So brand creamer is 1.99 versus $4 at Vons. Chedar cheese from Kraft retail $3.79 is 1.99 at GO. Really gourmet items and great craft beer and wine. Bv costal is 7.99, they got a couple extra bucks in your pocket for 5.99. great produce too. Just go and check it out. Can't beat it. read more

I was excited when I saw this grocery outlet finally open but quickly was disappointed in how many things they had mismarked I saw a 750ml case of Jameson whiskey on the shelf and marked 799 and I do have a picture I picked up one bottle only not to be greedy and tried to purchase it but they charged me $26 instead of 799 and I asked to speak to a manager and the owner came out and started quoting law to me like he was a lawyer that even if it's marked 799 he doesn't have to sell it to me not a good first impression and especially for somebody that was the owner if I was him I would have sold the bottle for 799 and immediately taken the wrong tag off and have the right tag on rudeness is not a good thing when you're trying to deal with the public read more

I love this store and always find good things here, today, however, was a little disappointing. I found the items I needed in the store and came to the cash register to pay for my items, it was somewhere about 3:15 pm at that point. The cashier informed me that the store didn't have any bags... no problem, I had some bags with me. When I was paying for my items, I expected that the cashier would help bag the items because other customers were waiting and it would have gotten my items off the line sooner but the cashier was busy talking with someone on her earpiece about what time she was getting off work. Honestly, I was a little embarrassed at how she handled the situation because I felt rushed to get myself out of the line quickly. I come to Grocery Outlet because it has pleasant people and the cashier was nice enough but I was holding up the line because bagging isn't my job and I clearly needed help. We shop here at least 4-5 times a week. This afternoon I was buying a bunch of stuff for work. The line for checking out was long so they called another cashier. I was taken to the new cashier and after she rang me up, I was asked to get back in the original line because there wasn't change in the register. The cashier did not think to get change and wanted me to be inconvenienced. I politely declined and left pointing to the banner in the store with the owners name on it telling the cashier I'm sure the owner would not be happy about this. I support local businesses but cannot do so if they treat customers like this. read more

Arrived on the grand opening day, super excited to have a grocery outlet so close to home. Didn't have any problems with the workers or anyone, thought they were fine people, I don't have much time to gawk and watch the employees, trying to judge their behavior, just trying to buy my groceries and leave. That being said, there's a great variety of items to purchase. The store is quite organized, you can find lots of nice items and its also perfect if you're looking for vegan foods. Everything is priced decently and they have lots of great deals every week. I usually go to the Fullerton grocery outlet, which also has a nice selection of items, but the selection does vary a bit from store to store but I'll be going to this location more often since they carry the same stuff and is closer to home. read more

I've been to the Costa Mesa location a few times now and this store is pretty much what you'd expect if you've shopped here before. There are some really great deals to be had on brands you're accustomed to seeing at Albertsons, Vons, Target, etc. but I would probably skip the fresh meats and produce since the prices on those are about the same as what you'd find elsewhere and I'm not too sure about quality. If you're shopping for snacks, cleaning supplies, alcohol and canned or frozen goods, this is your jam. Just keep an eye on the expiry dates though, as they're usually a month out from going "bad". read more

Their products often are leftover product that doesn't sell well in other stores. Sometimes there are great deals here, but often the prices are the same at other stores as well. One thing I do love buying here is the Monkfruit sugar which typically is a better price than at any other grocery store. You just have to be aware of the prices of items when you are buying them. read more

I was so excited to hear that Grocery Outlet was coming to my neighborhood here in Placentia. I would usually drive to the one in Fullerton but now I have one just down the street and I couldn't be happier! Grocery Outlet has amazing prices, a great selection of everyday items, helpful/friendly employees and not to mention, a fun store to shop at. The store is always super clean and organized. The shelves are well stocked and the merchandise is fresh. Each time I go I find new and interesting "must have" things, it's never the same stuff from visit to visit. The past two times I've been into the new Placentia location I've saved over $100 and got the bell rung along with an announcement made that, "we have a customer who just saved $105!" It's such a fun store, couldn't be more happy to have it in our neighborhood!! read more

Nice store, Horrible Customer Service... The store manager on duty was very understanding & apologetic however the two cashiers were extremely rude to me while I was inquiring about returning some outdated items. The young lady cashier changed the reason she would not be able to accept the items multiple times while getting and attitude with me for confronting her on it and asking to speak with a manager as if she received commission for the products I inquired about returning. Furthermore as the situation was resolved and the items ended up being too outdated to return which is understandable.... The young lady proceeded to antagonize me as I left by saying "bye"in a Condescending tone as if she was kicking us out and letting me know she's not scared of me as if I was trying to intimidate a young lady while holding my 1 yr old DAUGHTER, smh.I just wanted to confront the miscommunication & I did not deserve any rudeness in the process. At any rate this experience was Extremely horrible as stated Initially and to add insult to injury the male cashier decided to chime in at the end and dismiss us as if his word was law. I decided to digress and leave however I felt extremely disrespected & I'm not sure if I'll ever shop at that store again. I had a bad experience at this store. I received their ads and WOW ads by email. An item was advertised on the August 3rd "WOW" ad and it said "until supplies last ". I went into the store on August 6th and the item was still there. The manager would not honor their ad. I contacted the Corporate Office and they responded that they should honor it if the item is still in store, however no effort was made to contact them to see why they were not honoring the ad. I have since decided to not shop at that store and have deleted them from my email list. The (Placentia Store).I have not had that experience at any of the other stores. read more
