    Tonkotsu Ramen
    Vicaboy S.

Pretty average. My gf and I got Tonkotsu ramen and the chashu rice bowl. The ramen was pretty light and not very flavorful, it was better when mixed with spicy paste. The biggest killer for both orders was the spinach. They boil the spinach and the flavor and texture of it really made both meals not as good. I don't think I'd visit here again. It's not terrible, but I know places in the area that are better.

10/10 Tonkotsu Ramen - This is my all time favorite spot for ramen. The broth is incredible and their chashu is hands down the best around. Cost - Tonkotsu Ramen $18.40, add corn $2.30.

Ok, so first off, yes odd location. Don't be discouraged thinking your map lead you down the wrong path. It's hidden inside an office building. Menu is very limited. But if you're in the mood for just ramen, this is the place. Ramen was flavorful and not salty like most places. Service was good. Ambiance was a bit different. I'm not sure how u feel about the automatic 17% tip already added to the bill.

I came here as a plus one with my boyfriend to attend a Yelp elite event. I ended up buying my own meal, which was a Tom Katsu Ramen. The soup is very tasty and bold. I would also say it's very umami. I definitely needed the water to help rinse it down. Ambience is clean and nice. I do not like the entrance way for this location though. It could get pretty confusing since it's connected to the office building. Ample parking available. Luckily when I went there still had an available table, but this location is very small. If you come at a peak time, you might be waiting a while for a table.

Refreshing Ramen Spot. Stopped by this spot on a Saturday not sure what to expect, but everything was delightful. Inside was pleasant with lantern decorations and photos of ramen in production, and service was quick. Had a yuzunade and crab cucumber salad to start. It was a lot more cucumber than crab, but still had a really nice subtle flavor. The karaage came next and had a really nice light flavor and texture which didn't overpower the meal. The main course was the Summer Delight which was three small bowls. Spicy tuna, salmon poke, and spicy cold dipping noodle. Poke and Noodle tied for favorite of the meal. Overall, really glad I made the trip out. Even though it does feel like a bit of a search, given its location in an office building. But if you can find it, enjoy this hidden treasure.

Came here for lunch with my daughter and we ordered tonkotsu ramen and it's was very good and yuzu lemonade is as awesome and refreshing drink. The ramen noodle is phenomenal because it's not salty like some place and very delicious. Service here is good but they should let customer know tips are already included in your check and also they don't accept cash, they only accept credit cards. The gratuity should depends on service not just add on a surcharge because it depends on the server as well. Ambience here is very small and they get pretty busy here during dinner time. This place is in a business building and you would park the car and you would able to see a sign hiro nori then u enter to the double door and then another double door and it's on the left hand side. Overall this place the ramen is very good.

This is the second HiroNori location that I've tried, it's tucked away in a building and a pretty small location. We had a party of 7 and had to wait about 30-40 mins on a Friday evening. It was worth it though for the Tonkatsu ramen! The broth is super yummy and a great portion.

Talk about a hole in the wall - would have no idea this business park would have a restaurant in it, let alone a HiroNori. This spot is small and cozy. Not too many tables, but not a long wait either on a weekday night. Food quality is up to par with other locations! Definitely flavorful yet well-balanced and light!

Wow, what a hidden gem! This cute date night ramen spot wowed us as soon as we walk in, it was pleasant and comfy. The tonkatsu chicken was seared, and the noodles were so delicious with a little garlic. I do wish the seaweed was crispy though, the large wet chunks I didnt care for. Jason was quick and professional, great job! They also include tip on the bill already. We will definitely come back.

This place has great ramen. Just went here again and I would come back. It's not the best ramen I've ever had, but it's definitely good. They give you watermelon flavored water or regular water. Because I'm over 40, I did wish the chairs had back support. But they look cool. Small and calming space with good flavors. I also enjoyed the spicy tuna on crispy rice. The rice was soft inside but crispy on the outside. Service could have been a bit more proactive. We had to wait for our waters and the check for a bit too long. But very friendly so it's ok. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area and craving some ramen!

What a hidden gem, No pun intended!! Wow, hands down the best ramen I've ever had here in the states It felt like a ramen shop back in Japan, with cozy friendly vibes. authentic level 100, N paired with fast N easy services. The ramen noodle is Q'ie and the ramen broth is rich and thick The crispy chicken is tender on the inside and nice N crunchy on the outside. Is like eating a piece of grape, the meat juice bursts out and pops in ur mouth with delicious savory tase Definitely a hidden Gem, located in on thr back side of the office building and then u exit thru the flower shop 10 outta 10 a must and mandatory go for ur local authentic Japanese craft ramen

This place was very accommodating. They allowed us to dine in w/ our party of 5 at 9:40pm when they were closing at 10pm. They even allowed us to stay until about 10:20-10:30pm w/o making us feel rushed. We felt a little guilty for that and left to not keep them waiting. The food was amazing and the ambiance was great. A little difficult to find this place as it's inside a business type looking building. The ramen was decorous and filling. Had to take it to go. Vegan Ramen: 4.5/5

I ordered the Butaton ramen which had everything I like! Minus the bean sprouts. Pretty good bowl of ramen. The noodles were PERFECTLY al dente. The broth was good, but maybe a tiny bit too salty. You could definitely feel/taste the collagen in the broth which was nice. The pork belly was a bit tough and dry though. Portion wise it's pretty small. At first I was considering doing the lunch special where you can add a beef or chashu bowl for an additional $6, but I thought, "Nah, that's going to be too much food." I guess in the end it worked out. I was the perfect level of full/satisfied. However, if you're starving I would definitely recommend doing the lunch special. It's a nice space to dine at for sure! I enjoyed watching the cars/people flow through the Orange Circle while I was eating. Service was fast/friendly. No complaints there. A little steep on the price versus portion though. This meal was almost $24 after tip for a bowl for ramen. Overall, not bad! I've had much better elsewhere, but out of all the local spots I've tried around me so far, this one is definitely one of the better ones so far.

A Legendary Slurp - Gone But Never Forgotten It is a true…read moretragedy for the Orange County food scene that Hakata Ikkousha in Costa Mesa has closed its doors. This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

This time we left without much desire to come back, and for me it comes down to one thing: how the food tasted. The amuse bouche was an inauspicious start -- small bits of a cooked protein (chicken?) in a standard Japanese onion vinaigrette. The protein was unidentifiable, I didn't finish it, and I'm not sure how it's supposed to set the table for a sushi dinner. Ohshima's strength is supposed to be nigirizushi: small rice, generous fish, with a carefully chosen condiment and/or tare to enhance each piece. That formula worked on the pieces that got tare -- akami and masu were the standouts of the evening. But on the remaining pieces, the itamae misted the fish with what he described as yuzu after construction. Yuzu has a distinct floral-citrus character that's hard to miss; what came through instead was a watery taste that muted the fish's natural flavor. Toro, which should have been a highlight, suffered the most from this. Water is the enemy of flavor, and whatever was in that spray bottle undermined the whole point of the condiment approach. Three of the thirteen pieces were closely related jacks -- hiramase, kampachi, and shima aji -- which bordered on redundant given how similar they are in flavor profile. The gindara was torched aggressively enough to leave a residual propane taste. At $260 for two before tip (including two large Sapporo), I'd also note that the diner's-choice extra piece offered on our first visit wasn't available this time -- a quiet downgrade, though I understand the economics. The technical execution was competent. Nothing was bad in an obvious way. But the watery flavor issue was consistent and consequential enough to make this a shadow of what it was.

Our server wasn't very personable but also not rude or terrible. I felt a little rushed even with a small menu. Being that I had never been there before, I wasn't sure what to get so I pretty much just blurted out whatever. What we ordered: 1) Black deluxe chicken paitan with pork - the broth was so tasty, it was absolutely delicious. The pork slices were generous, however, it was DRY. 2) Pork chashu - for my kid. They loved the broth as well and also felt that the pork slices were dry. I wanted to give 4 out of 5 stars, but I am going to hand them a 3. I loved the tasty broth, but the pork was too dry. How could you mess that up as a ramen restaurant? The portions looked a little smaller than what I am used to paying for much less money. That photo of my black deluxe chicken paitan with pork is very deceiving. It looks like a lot, but it definitely wasn't. I usually can't finish my bowl of ramen in one sitting and take the other half home. I barely had any broth in there, and being that the broth was very good, I was disappointed to run out of it before I was even done with the noodles and meat. Would I return? Sure. I liked the food. It's not a place I would go out of my way to eat at, but if I was around the neighborhood and wanted ramen, I would dine there again.
