By far the rudest people I have ever met. I went to the store during the busy time, but I waited patiently at the Customer Service counter for someone to help me. I was looking for Basabe. When the self checkout person came to the counter, I asked her and she said I don't know I'm busy I'm helping someone else. So I waited and then she told me go look at the sushi area so I went to look and then I came back and said I couldn't find it there FaceTime Jeep and tell me and she punched me up on somebody you said we don't have any. I can't believe the audacity of this place and their employees. My boyfriend stopped by to pick up a nice bottle of wine for us, and before he could get to the check out he slipped on a patch of wet floor, falling and accidentally breaking the bottle. They then forced him to pay for a $50 bottle of wine that he dropped because THEIR floor was wet!! I really wanted a muffin for breakfast to eat at work so I stopped here being that it was close. Unfortunately, the store did not have single muffins for sale, only 4 packs and if I got a 4 pack I would have consumed all 4 in one sitting. Just another thing against a store that is supposed to live up to Wegmans (It will never happen, there can only be one). Instead, I opted to get a donut for breakfast. I got a cinnamon glazed donut and it was pretty good. I was happy with my choice. I was a bit confused when I saw they had single waffles in the donut display (HOW CAN YOU HAVE WAFFLES AND NOT MUFFINS!!!) and I am intrigued enough that I will probably go back to buy one in a coming morning. The store it self is a larger location than the others I have been in and they seemed to have a good variety of foods. All of the shelves I looked at in the other areas of the store were well stocked. I liked their flower department when you first walked into the store. The staff was friendly but scarce however, I went before 6:30 in the morning so I am not surprised there wasn't staff around. The location is great being that it is in a large plaza. This store is comparable to all other Vons. Generally, they're all pretty big and spacious, and filled with most of the necessities for household items, and of course, groceries. Although I've always felt like the prices here are a little bit more expensive than most stores, but they do carry a lot of organic items. And majority of the time the vegetables look bountiful and fresh. And I can find all the items I need for dinner that night. Overall, good place to go for your shopping. read more

I really don't like leaving negative reviews unless it's a really negative experience. This is strictly based on my experience with Rachel who works in the floral/ballon dept..I purchased three balloons from the Rancho Bernardo Vons earlier this week that had not been inflated at $12.95 each and was told just to bring the receipt into any other Vons when I needed them inflated which would be today. There was a really sweet woman that helped me at first and then Rachel came over and told me I need to pay for the helium. I said OK. Then she quotes me $41.95 just to fill the three balloons. I tell her I already purchased the balloons and what I was told by the other Vons and she said that I have to pay for the balloons again because I'm getting them filled. I ended up telling her just to keep them! If you're going to go to Vons in the area, do not go to this one if it's for floral/balloons. The one in Pacific Beach on Garnet will happily do it for you, no questions asked. read more

I can't bite the Vons that feeds me. (-; This is my favorite "conventional" grocery store, and I come here to buy yummy things like Dave's Killer bread, El Diablo Spicy Mango Mustard, fun cereals full of artificial colors, and a jar of that cheesy nacho sauce full of MSG. But when I want to shop organic and preservative free, then I prefer Whole Foods Market. My biggest complaint about this Vons is that the selection of fresh organic produce is too small, and not fresh enough. This Vons has helpful employees who usually offer to help me find things, and they usually ask if I want help to my car, unless they are distracted. It's located in the Clairemont town square, and has a Starbucks in the store. If the store were any bigger, I'd get lost in it. If it were any smaller, there wouldn't be enough selection. It's the perfect size for me. They usually keep some freshly sliced lunch meats in the fresh deli counter, which is handy if I'm in a hurry. I don't like to buy pre-packaged deli meats. They do have preservatives in the deli meats. When I want preservative-free deli meats, I go to Whole foods market. Depending on what I want to buy, my favorite grocery stores are Vons, Bristol Farms, Whole Foods Market, and Trader Joe's. I like how this Vons is organized, because I can find things. read more

Stopped by the Vons in Clairemont Square to see if they had some spare cardboard moving boxes. I spoke with Seth on Monday, July 11 who was stocking the shelves. He said he would check in the back, and I offered to help him with the boxes and followed him in. He found some and said I could have them, so I began gathering them. He said, "Help yourself," and walked back to the front of the store. Then, another employee who claimed to be a manager, CARMEN, asked me if I was a customer and said I needed to leave. I tried to explain to her that I had come back there with another employee who told me to "help myself" but she rudely cut me off while I was talking, while she was on a phonecall, and sternly and loudly said "I dont care, you need to leave." I understand liability, and as someone who has managed people and customers that its important to treat customers with respect, NOT BE RUDE AND VERBALLY ABUSE THEM and train employees if they are not following protocols. read more

The lines at this Vons are always unnecessarily long. The algorithm or scheduling system needs to be improved. The staff today were not welcoming, though they also we're not "friendly." I've never been treated so poorly by a grocery store employee ever. I called the meat department and asked an employee who answered, she sounded like an older lady. I asked her if she was aware if the store ran there $5 sushi Friday deal which I saw online. She interrupts me mid sentence and said this is a meat department we don't make sushi very rudely. I know you don't make sushi in the meat department, but I asked a general question to an employee of the store about a weekly promotion they run. She then proceeded to rudely interrupt me again and said this is a meat department we don't make sushi I'll transfer you with a nasty tone. This employee in the meat department need some training and reprimand on how to talk to customers, and maybe should be aware of store-wide promotions that are run every single week. I have been having my groceries delivered from Vons for a few years now. Not too long ago, Vons decided to stop having their employees make the delivery and started having third party vendors do the delivery. It has been a frustrating disaster for me and I am considering doing my shopping elsewhere. Today's delivery was dropped off at the apartment building accross from mine. I had to walk over like a thief and take it back to my place. A few weeks ago the driver dropped off some items from my order somewhere else, which I never received. Another time the driver told me the bags are too heavy and asked me to come to the street and pick them up. Wake up Vons. You need to get your own employees back to making deliveries. I think it is way out of line to check photo ID when using debit card to purchase a money order! I'm sorry but I totally upset that the associate had the nerve to ask for my ID. I never experienced anything like that in my life using a debit card especially when I came to this location before and never I had to provide photo ID. So beware of this location if you're going to purchase a money order over $300 they will ask for photo ID if using debit card! I felt racially profiled and that's totally unacceptable and hopefully it won't happen to customers of color. This will be that last time shopping at this Vons location. read more

I needed a gallon of milk that was not on the shelf. I went to the front of the store, asking if I could have someone check in the back. The person who came up from the back of the dairy section was so rude, never smiled, asked how he could help... when I told him EXACTLY what I needed, he stared at me and said, " I have no idea what you are talking about." Not bad. It has your basic necessities: Redbox, Lotto, Wells Fargo, Starbucks. It's such a convenient location. There is a Jamba Juice located outside and next door is Bath & Body Works. Not a lot of people know about this Vons location unless you're from Clairemont so it's awesome to be able to run errands without running into anyone! No need to put on makeup ladies! Parking isn't bad either, there's a huge lot since it's a shopping center so people are constantly coming and going. read more

Unfortunately Von's is the closest store to my home and I usually walk there. I avoid this store as much as possible because of the poor service I usually receive. To say nothing of their outrageous prices. Today was like no other visit. I went for one item, flatbread. I asked the customer service person if the store carries it and where it would be located. She responds "just look it up on your phone". I can't help you. And shrugs her shoulder! Thanks for nothing! I walked to the bread isle, no flatbread. Walked over to bakery, nope. Frozen food isle, nope. Then walked over to deli and someone was checking prices of already prepared pizza on flatbread. I asked if they carried plain flatbread. "No". Guess what? It was right in front of her on a rack! Unbelievable! No care about what they do. I walked over to bakery just to let them know the store did carry it. Response: that's not my department so I wouldn't know! Really ?!?!?! I would love an Aldi in place of this store! At least they care with even less staff and more efficiently. read more

Great Vons location! Def. not the same grocery shopping crowd as in PB....a bit older, but the employees are younger and helpful. On one grocery trip I was asked 3 times if I needed help...and one dude even gave me the organic cucumbers for normal cucumber price since they were all out of the normal ones and only had organic (thanks, Mike!---not bf Mike, produce guy Mike...) They always have my water in stock----which is a major gripe I have with the PB location, they always seem to be out. And another thing they have over the PB location? Shopping cart stalls in the parking lot!! I hate having to lug my damn shopping cart aaaallll the way to the front of the parking lot where the rest of the carts are (I feel bad about just leaving my cart next to the cars....) It's Vons. I don't see too much of a difference here than at any other Vons. I feed my dogs a prey-model raw diet, and though I usually buy their meat at Food 4 Less, when Vons has club card sales on meat, the deals are great here! I mean GREAT! The store is clean, and it doesn't smell funky, even when walking by the seafood section. Buy toiletries and things like that somewhere else; they are overpriced here. Once, I was looking to make sandwiches for homeless people (I also hand out Djarum black clove cigarettes on my sandwich runs, 'cause I'm pimp and I indulge people's vices like that), and when I went to the pre-packaged deli meat section, a lot of the packages of turkey were over a month expired! Yuck! People on the streets got ham sandwiches that day! The employees are all pretty nice, but there's one older lady who seems to be having hormone problems or something, because she has yelled at kids in front of me. Hmm. She always seems to make conversation with the older folks, though. Maybe she just hates young people. Maybe she just hates me; she always ignores me after talking to customers in front of me. Eh, whatever. There are also two male creepers who work here. One doesn't seem to notice me (whew), but the other always seems like he's looking at me weirdly. Creepy. Like a creeper. OMG, worst Vons I've ever been too. It's mainly the low IQ workers. I think they are mostly trained to socialize with each other, ignore customers, fumble around, and prowl the aisles pestering customers. It's not that they don't have employees prowling around the aisles asking, "Can I help you find something?", it's that that totally isn't helpful to anyone. Where the employees aren't helping in a meaningful way is at the checkouts and the front counter. A typical checkout experience involves me listening to low IQ employees discuss their pathetic social lives, while I make sure the bagger doesn't crush my loaf of bread with a sack of oranges. A typical experience at the front counter involves waiting, waiting some more, and finally giving up and walking away. A typical interaction with the other customers involves some guy yelling, "Hey, those kids are stealing beer, stop them," as the kids run out the front door. The guy looks over at the front desk. The employee looks up, shrugs shoulders, and goes back to fumbling around. The guy then says, to no one in particular, "Guess I'll just mind my own business next time." read more

The staff at this Von's is great. They're super friendly. The store is clean and baskets are always available. Von's isn't my first choice but my preferred grocery store is no longer around... And this Vons is in a convenient location. What sucks the most here is the lines. Twice I waited... No kidding... Over 15 minutes in line! Both times was because the person at the front had food stamps but really I wish the staff was trained better on that type of thing to speed up the process. Or at least have more cashiers come to the front when the lines go all the way down the aisles. The cashiers always keep a smile on their face and apologize though so I don't mind... It's just hard to stay cheerful when I am cranky from hunger haha I also love that they have a good variety of gluten free food and have obvious labels on them :) read more

HELLO....DOES ANYONE WORK HERE? So, I discovered the Vons by my house in the Clairemont Town Square and it's the biggest Vons I have ever been to. They have EVERYTHING! I was way stoked to be living in a clean, fully stocked, and HUGE Vons.... BUT a strange thing happened while at the market... I was in the frozen food aisle then BAM! Th lights shut off in the store and NO ONE reacts. I thought I was in a Twilight Zone TV show. The customers looked around and gave that strange, "what the heck" is going on face but kept shopping and the employees all aimlessly continued to work like nothing was happening. A customer yelled in the store, "HEY YOUR LIGHTS ARE OFF!" What did the employees at Vons do? NOTHING! There was no call on the intercom, no mention to the customers of what was going on, no signs....just NOTHING! It was weird but I will be back to this store for sure! read more
