Staff are friendly and very helpful helping you navigate the beer menu. The beer is above average; I liked everything I tried but I am not sure I would go out of my way to make a trip. There are picnic tables outside by a little brook which is very scenic and would be a lovely place to spend a few hours if it wasn't for the highway just on the other side of the brook that can be quite loud at times. A few guests brought their dogs which was nice. As for the food, other than the pretzels we were pretty disappointed. I had the Bavarian Foot Long (grilled split hot dog with sauerkraut, which was ok. My partner had the sliders which were cold and a bit greasy. read more

Wow! What a gem! This was my first time visiting this brewery and I was so impressed by the drinks and overall vibe of the place. Cocktail was DELICIOUS (cherry mule) and we got to drink it looking over the small river and watched some birds. The food was okay, but the overall vibes of the place made up for it. I would not recommend the nachos - they were okay, just not what I was expecting. The BLT and wings were good bar food! I would definitely come back for the drinks, but maybe not the food. This will be the perfect spot as the weather heats up!! We came Thursday around 4 pm and parking was a little bit tight. Overall, we had a really positive experience with attentive service and a chill vibe. Buffalo wings were meaty and delicious albeit not very saucy. The drier rub/sauce was so flavorful that sauciness was totally unnecessary. Server told us that this was a new buffalo recipe and we were totally impressed. Burger was good and good to order. Salad was good but the buffalo vinaigrette was not my kind of dressing. I thought it sounded interesting as the house special dressing, but it disappointed. This place is awesome! Gosh, I forgot the bartenders name, but he was cool as the wind. I found a card game on their shelf of things to do, & he explained the story behind it, Connected Clues which is very interesting. Apparently, some regulars had the idea & went through Amazon to get it published. The uncensored version is a Hello lot of fun! We bought one from Amazon, their distributor. Besides the cool assed bartender, the beers and Extra life cocktails were awesome. The outdoor seating by the stream, Creek, tributary, whatever, is freaking great! Best outdoors seating! The seafood market adjacent to the Brewery is nice too. The chef was smoking some smoked chicken thighs on the 2xl Big Green Egg outside. My mouth was watering. I've been here a few times now, it's been a great place to gather with friends for a drink but still have the option of outdoor seating for those in the group who aren't quite ready for indoor dining and drinking yet. I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't speak for those but the friends I have who do drink beer seem to like it! I go for the cocktails which are all delicious and relatively cheap. They also have margarita slushees! I love it. I'd like to see some more cocktail rotations in the future but I really enjoy the 4 they have regularly and the slushees so I can't really complain too much. They have lots of outdoor seating, both on the deck and along the creek. It's really quite nice on a summer evening! They have indoor seating as well but I don't usually see many folks in there because the outside is so nice! For food, they collaborate with the fish shop upstairs and have tacos and pizza sometimes. I haven't had the food yet but might try it next time I go! The service is usually excellent and their employees seem happy but there was one time I went a few weeks ago and had very awful service. The lady working the bar seemed utterly miserable and was very rude to myself and my friends. I know we all have bad days but it was shocking that she decided to come in to work if her day was really that bad. Oh well. Hopefully her days get better or I don't go when she's working! read more

Experience left a bad taste in our mouth. My mom and I aren't informed beer consumers and were purchasing beer as a gift. There was little to no information about the beer varieties, we couldn't look closely at the cans since they were behind the counter in a fridge, and we didn't understand the options. We asked a lot of questions and it was difficult to hear and understand the brisk responses. As we tried to get clarity, were accused of being intoxicated and nearly denied service. Love the atmosphere at Voodoo and their beer, but the food needs some work. Saying this with love, because we plan to come back. We came in last week and ordered pulled pork nachos, and the specials, cheesesteak, and a cup of chili. The only thing I'd order again was the chili. The cheesesteak had no flavor at all...no sauce or mayo, wasn't seasoned well, texture was dry and tough, just a no go from us. As for the nachos, the pulled pork on them wasn't good at all...had an off flavor like it was reheated from a package and not fresh. We've had the nachos before and liked them, so hoping it was just a one off.. Anyway, love the space, love being able to sit by the creek and enjoy a beer, just hoping the food improves. read more

This place was great! Their outdoor area is lovely right by the river, they have plenty of seating so you can sit and enjoy yourself. Only downside is they are right by the road so it's a bit loud. To start, I had the white peach mango margarita slushy which was perfect, cold and refreshing on a super hot day. The brewery also lies with the seafood market upstairs so you can get food to eat. I had the lobster roll which was amazing! They get the seafood trucked in from Maine so you know it's fresh and you could really taste that. Small brewery in the State College area serving food from Main Bay & Berry which is housed in the front parking lot of the building. Voodoo has both indoor and outdoor seating which lines a small creek. The staff is very friendly and are clearly taking Covid precautions seriously. They serve a great selection of brews and a handful of cocktails using local distillery liquors. The only downside for me was some of the Covid precautions make dining in current times a bit challenging. We waited almost 20 minutes after being seated to have a server take our drink order, since you are not supposed to leave your seating area to order. Food options are very limited if you're not a seafood consumer...although when Covid restrictions don't require a food purchase, this won't be a problem anymore. Overall a great local spot, I'm sure they're trying their best in these challenging times. Can't wait to go back in "normal" times. read more

This place is a hidden gem. Nestled underneath Maine Bay&Berry co, the rustic bar opens into two patios, warmed by fire pits and heat lamps. The bar serves up an ever-rotating selection of craft beers that never fail to impress. In particular, the New England and west coast IPAs are always on point- particularly the "backpack" one. The bartenders are always super friendly and knowledgeable about the offerings, which just makes the place even better. Additionally, the upstairs neighbors run a little food service for lunch and dinner, which is worth a visit even if you don't want to drink. Maine Bay&Berry serves up the best seafood in state college. And for good prices! The tuna sashimi is fresh and flavorful, the lobster roll is chuck full of generous portions of meat nestled into a soft roll, and the mahi mahi tacos are served with the perfect taco slaw. Definitely my go-to pace for lunch, and evening drinks. read more

Voodoo is my favorite place to get a drink in State College, and this is especially true when the weather is nice. What makes them great are two things: 1) their beer surpasses in quality most anywhere else in state college, and 2) their location and seating by the creek is so cute it hurts. While they do get busy, they have greatly expanded their seating so I've never had an issue getting a seat. Don't let the wildly full parking lot deter you! There will be seating and quick service as long as you can find a corner to park on. Don't forget you can park at the seafood place after they close! I'd say the only bad thing about voodoo is their food selection is limited and kinda pricey. The pizza is the best bang for your buck by far and isn't too expensive. If you're willing to dish out some cash, the seafood options are really delicious! read more

This is a nice Voodoo location, but very different from my hometown location in Homestead. The space is almost entirely an outside. The inside bar is small, and is the part that most feels like a Voodoo location to me. Of course the beer is great, they have classics like the Met Mosa, chalkboard signs, etc. The outside space consists of a deck and a grassy area in a wooded lot along a stream. There are lots of seats in the grassy area. They occupy the ground/basement level of the barn like building. On the first floor is a restaurant you can order from at the bar called Maine Bay and Berry. Fyi, if you are driving to Voodoo for the first time, you may realize that there is seemingly no signage visible from the street. I'd look for the seafood signs associated with this restaurant. By the way, the food was good albeit a bit pricey. Two more things to note 1) another brewery called Happy Valley Brewing is two doors down 2) parking is very limited and I've been advised locals to absolutely do not park at the other brewery read more

Great beer with great names, plus they have a full bar, which was unique I think. Cool spot right on a creek. Place is hard to find, so you have to look hard to find it. Food is a side hustle run by the place upstairs, I think. That's more like a 3.5 and honestly, it's a "nice to have". I had mahi tacos and my son had a pizza. Both were "OK". Ballsy biz plan. "Let's open 2 doors down from established Happy Valley Brewery". It works! They opened in a great location in what was a nursery type biz in an old barn. The serve their own beer, local craft cocktails (mule, watermelon slush etc) and have food upstairs from Maine and Berry Seafood (lobsta' rolls and fish tacos etc). I came for Fathers Day and am back less than a month later. The place has appropriate mask rules and plenty of tables to social distance. Oh, yeah, they have Adirondack chairs/tables in the grass next to the creek, indoor tables, outdoor tables on a covered deck and stools at a bar overlooking the creek. read more

I'm a craft brewery whore from California. Voodoo has become my favorite craft beer place in State College. The little stream that runs through the place makes it a great place to unwind. Oh Mama and Good Vibes are perfectly made and super drinkable. They could use a bigger parking lot, but I don't mind a little inconvenience when it comes to great beer. The staff has always been super nice and I always feel welcome. I think I'm on my way to being a regular here. read more

This place has such good vibes. The inside is very small. I don't remember if there was anywhere to sit inside but if there was it may have only been a couple spots. This place is meant to be enjoyed outside. There's a couple large picnic tables under shade. There's also barstools and a countertop that you can sit at (outside) that overlooks the water. Down some steps you can pull up a chair and sit closer to the creek. It's very lovely. A few tips: 1. The parking there is scarce. There's a one way street to get down to the parking for the brewery and it's very cramped. If all the spots are taken you're almost stuck down there in the parking lot and will have a very hard time turning around (we saw someone hit a tree while there). Rideshare there if you can and if you have to drive park in the lot across the street and walk over. 2. There's no waitresses there so when you need a refill you go back inside to the bar. Make sure to save your spot by the water bc sometimes it will get crowded and people will take your seat if you don't save it. 3. They have awesome beer. If you're not wanting to stick around they sell 6-packs/4-packs you can take to-go and enjoy at home. Seriously give this place a try! read more

Checked out Voodoo for the first time on the 4th of July! Me and a few friends went around noon and, because it was early on a holiday, it was pretty empty so we could sit anywhere! Two of my friends had dogs so we sat at two big tables on the deck in the shade - it was really nice! Since I had never been before, my friends recommended the White Magic of the Sun and it was reallllly good. Sadly, the lobster place upstairs was closed so we couldn't order any food, but we (and a bunch of other groups at the brewery) were able to order pizza delivery, which was great! The venue is much better when you can sit outside, weather was too cold when we visited. We had trouble finding a seat, but I was prepared for that! Sadly, the woman bartender at the front was highly unprofessional and made rude comments that were uncalled for. Food selections are minimal but very tasty, especially the seafood options from the upstairs. Parking is VERY limited so plan on carpooling or uber'ing if having multiple vehicles. Small, cool little place. You have to buy food with beer, no biggie. We were there with family we don't see often, and when we get together we always laugh. Told us after we ate a few items and had two beers each (the small glasses) that we were visibly intoxicated and could not order any more to drink. Oh, and one of us was only drinking water!! Cute place and good beer it's a shame that the food we had to order with our beer took an hour to get. The staff didn't seem that surprised with the time for the food but when you HAVE to order food with a meal during these times it's very disappointing.
