First, the staff was very friendly and allowed me to taste test various options. I was shocked as I assumed it would only be Voodoo beverages, but they had all kinds of other craft options and cocktails. The pickled pizza I got was okay. I think they should either give it a ranch swirl or you get a free ranch with it, instead of having to pay for ranch. (It's not the Fair version pickled pizza version). The great thing about the pizza was that it was enough slices to easily be sharable, which if you're there with a group, will allow you to try more food options. My wife and I visited Voodoo Brewing on Friday night. It was busy but not too bad. The band was good. The beer, 25 dollars for 2 Love Childs which after research, they over charged me. We sat down after picking up 2 menus. After 1 hour no one came and took our order or even asked if we needed another drink. Not sure if you have to always go to the register to order food and beer. Voodoo Brewing brings the best elements of a brewery experience to the downtown area of Lexington. They have table service but also still have that casual brewery feel. Beer wise they have a wide selection of craft brews that will satisfy any craft beer snob. Food quality wise everything we ordered was very good and lined up with the value. One of the best aspects of this place is the location, it's easy to pop in for some snacks and then walk out into some of the downtown area which may have events or other things going on. I ordered the Voodoo Nachos. They weren't ready when I arrived, so I waited about 7 minutes. When they finally came out, they were served in a pizza box and were already cold -- like really cold. The presentation actually looked great at first, but the taste was another story. The beer cheese completely overpowered everything. It had a gritty texture and a strange flavor that I honestly couldn't get past. Even after trying to eat the pulled pork separately, that beer cheese taste lingered so strongly that I couldn't really tell what anything else tasted like. I even tried reheating some of the nachos in the microwave, hoping it would help, but it didn't improve the flavor. The only positive thing I can say is that the tortilla chips themselves weren't soggy. Overall: 0/10. I wouldn't recommend the Voodoo Nachos. read more

The atmosphere was fun and loved that they have outdoor seating. Service was iffy. We sat down and our server came out about 5 or so minutes. I wasn't sure what I wanted yet bc everyone at our table was talking. So I asked for a water so I could look more and he rolled his eyes. Okay then. My friend asked for a Bloody Mary.. it looked nothing like the photos and had no olives. We waited and finally asked the bartender for some olives. She must have told the server bc then he brings another Bloody Mary - no olives. Finally he brought them out. Then he disappears for a while. My friend wanted to order food and I wanted to order my drink but he was no where to be found. Not sure why he was acting like he didn't want to be there but he was like that with the other tables as well. My friend's husband went across to Barrio's to get food bc he never came back. Then when he did, I was able to order my drink after about 30 minutes. Then he disappeared and never checked back on us. Finally had to chase him down to ask if we could close out our tab. All things went right! This is our second time coming and both times with a group of 9. Wait staff is always pleasant and helpful. I felt both times they knew the beers well and had a good suggestions on food. First time was very very busy which as expected would slow the dinner process down. This time it was perfect crowd size. Kitchen must be overwhelmed-- food slow to arrive & cool (nachos cold--yuck!) or lukewarm (sandwiches). Food meh, menu sounds good but chicken wings are fatty, meat in chicken sandwich gristly. Arrived around 7:30. Service started out ok but ended poorly. We ordered a foodoo burger, a kids burger and pickle pizza. The burgers were brought to our table (not by our server) and we were told that they are still "waiting on the pizza". Our actual server never came back to the table to give us a status on the pizza at all. After patiently waiting and the other 2 people at our table had almost finished their burgers, I finally got up to go find our sever who was no where to be seen and saw my pizza sitting in the kitchen window. I didn't see a cook or server in sight so I got it and took it back to my table. After our server was made aware of that, the excuse was they were short staffed and "running around like chickens with their heads cut off" but we were one of 2 tables with guests in the restaurant and the other table had not ordered food and it was close to closing time. This was our first visit and it wasn't a great experience. The food was decent but not good enough to want to go back and we were also charged for fries that should've come with the kids burger. Wasn't worth mentioning by the time it was noticed. ***update***apparently when this review was seen by a manager per an employee, now a former one, the response from the manager was "oh well opinions are like *ssholes everyone's got one"...Yeah definitely won't go back now or recommend to anyone. Great location, poor execution. Ordered chicken tikka sandwich with fries. Huge piece of deep fried cardboard mixed into the fries. Sandwich was cold. Our bartender showed the owner, Dawu, the cardboard found in the fries and he literally giggled and went back to taking photos for Instagram. No apologies, no replacement, no service. Women's bathroom was also out of toilet paper. On the plus side, great selection of regional beers on tap. read more
