My wife and I went here last Thursday for dinner and split the fish and chips. We ordered the pretzel and beer cheese for an appetizer. Still the best fish and chips I've had in Columbia. The beer, cheese and pretzel were also outstanding. One of my top restaurants in the Columbia area.

Spotted this pub as we drove by, coming into town for a stop over on our way to Norfolk, Va. fortunately it was within walking distance from our hotel. Such a cute area with boutiques, bakery/coffee shops and restaurants. I was excited for, craving and hoping for fish and chips and they did not disappoint! Very friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful pictures of Ireland's landscape in the dinning area adjacent to the bar room. Great cocktail, wine and beer menu. We had EXCELLENT meals...pot roast and fish and chips! I enjoyed ( never had one before ) an Irish martini.

Walked in and were not greeted or sat, so we decided to grab a seat at the bar. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the pub burger. The burger was perfectly cooked and the fish and chips were good. The bartender was very nice and took care of us. The place has pub vibes, dimly lit, and a lot of TVs. Plenty of brews on tap, love that they had a variety of sports on (most importantly MLB). They also had live music which usually would be a plus but, I couldn't hear myself think never mind what the bar tender was saying or anyone else for that matter. Might be back, not sure...

Came here for a business lunch and I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We were seated in the snug area which is private area for small groups I would say up to 8 people. It was very nice and there is a service light that you can turn on if it gets busy. We were there right before busy lunch hour and the service was top tier! I had the fish and chips....and when I say this was the best fish and chips I've ever had I'm NOT lying!!!! The fries were thick cut and cooked to perfection and salted...but not too much just right. The fish was haddock and they were not skimpy with the portion like you get at other places. Again the fish was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and very crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. They definitely know what they are doing here and whenever I get to come back to town, this is definitely on my list to come back to. There are so many different items that I wanted to try since so many were recommended. So run don't walk to this restaurant you will not be disappointed!

Only reason I didn't do 5 stars is because we sat for a little while before anyone came over to the table, but after the waitress did stop.....it was amazing from there! Service was fantastic, the waitress was very attentive and had some good conversation. The food was some of the best we have had in quite awhile!!!! Started with the BEST appetizer ever, Irish nachos, which were homemade potato chips with crazy good corned beef mixed thru out and lots of cheese!!!! I got the king cut of prime rib and mashed potatoes, again great flavor cooked to perfection. My wife got the Shepard's pie which was soooo flavorful....im ordering next time!! Can't wait to go back!

My wife and I visited this downtown Lexington restaurant last evening and were both happy with our selections. My wife had the shepherds pie and I tried the fish selection. We also enjoyed the chicken wings and pretzels for starters which were both excellent. The only thing preventing a perfect rating was the temp of my wife's entree. It was barely warm and we needed to send it back to heat it to a proper temp. We will try this place another time...

Downtown Lexington now has several great spots to visit including this one. Fish and chips were the best I've had in a while for lunch. Place was packed incredible difficult to find parking during certain times of the day. But it's worth the effort just be prepared when arriving here.

They opened at 11:00 and we walked in at 11:01, anxious to get our fish! The waitress was great and set us up quickly at a table and took our drink orders and brought us Guiness and teas. She heard all the chatter about the Fish N Chips and the next thing she said is "We don't have any beer batter yet, so no Fish N Chips! Immediately there were groans and moans. We had our beer and had come here specifically for the Fish N. Chips. She went back to check and returned saying "Yep, no beer batter so no Fish N Chips". Several of us joked that we may as well drink our beer and go next door to the Mongolian Yummy Stir fry place. We now started browsing for other menu items that we wanted. After about five minutes she came back out and said they could make up some batter but didn't know how long it would take. (How long does it take to stir up beer batter?). We said we'd wait. In the meantime two of our guys placed orders for the Scottish Eggs and Onion Rings for the table. They were both excellent. Three of us ordered the Fish N Chips and two had decided to go with the Bangers and Mash. One order for the Beef Eater sandwich, one Club Sandwich and one Rueben Sandwich. The food came out and the fish n chips were great. Not greasy, crispy, large haddock slice with great french fries. and green peas (which were barely luke ward, almost cold). The two guys with the Bangers and Mash loved it..Great sausage and the potatoes were excellent with mustard. The Rueben was great and also the Beef Eater. The waitress did a great job, checking on us throughout lunch. All in all, what started out as a questionable lunch turned into another fine lunch for the ROMEO group. The rating was 9.18 on the ROMEO scale...5.0 on Yelp scale. Only issue was something was wrong with the tea. It almost looked like water. Maybe because we were the first group in and the tea had just been made.

When the British Bulldog calls itself a "pub", I feel like it's one of the very few places that takes that moniker to heart. Even though it's located in somewhat of a strip-mall setting, once you walk inside the building, you're amazed by the authenticity of the inside. Personally, I loved the brick and wood that made up the interior, which gave the restaurant the realistic "pub" vibe that I mentioned earlier. Furthermore, I loved the framed, and hanging, soccer flags, which was a marked contrast to the professional and college sports paraphernalia at your typical American sports bar. I walked in kind of late, and just sat at the bar, which still made for a great experience. Even though it's an English restaurant, they still had a lot of the popular local and domestic beers, to go along with the more English-themed beverages. I asked if they had any "sours", and the bartender was kind enough to offer me a sample of the two (2) sours that they had on tap, and let me choose the one I liked the most. The aforementioned bartender was great, and I overheard him offering some folks from out-of-town with recommendations for nearby late-night spots and high-quality local joints. Finally, my simple order of chicken tenders and fries was pretty good, and I thoroughly enjoyed their steak-cut "chips," or French Fries. All-in-all, I waited too long to try out the British Bulldog, which was a great pub experience that definitely lived up to my high expectations. I'll definitely be coming back soon, and in turn, would recommend it to anybody else!

It has a fun, nostalgic atmosphere without feeling overdone. I ordered the 10 oz ribeye with sweet potato soufflé and green beans. The steak was cooked a solid medium, just as ordered. It was juicy inside with good marbling, but the char from the grill was a little too heavy for my taste & overpowered some of the natural beef flavor. It also could've used a touch more salt. I do think serving it with a compound butter would take it up another notch. The sweet potato soufflé was creamy and smooth with just the right amount of sweetness, not overly sugary like some versions. The green beans were simple, well-seasoned Southern-style beans that paired nicely with the steak. The complimentary cornbread was warm, soft, and a nice touch before the meal. I couldn't leave without trying dessert, so I went with the Bananas Foster cake. The slice was huge and looked fantastic, but it was much sweeter than I expected. I only managed a couple of small bites before calling it quits. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you'll probably enjoy it more than I did. Service was friendly, and the food came out promptly. Despite how busy the restaurant was, everything felt well organized. Overall, Flight Deck delivers a unique aviation-themed dining experience with generous portions and a menu that has something for just about everyone. A few small tweaks to the steak seasoning and char would've easily pushed this to five stars. Would I return? Yes. I'd come back to try another entrée and maybe split a dessert next time.

When I walked in, I was amazed at what I saw inside, as it definitely was not what I was expecting (and I mean that in a good way!). I loved how dimly lit it was inside, which was complemented by miniature lights that were strung from the ceiling. Speaking of the aforementioned change of pace, I also appreciated how there were no TVs inside, which created an intimate atmosphere that focused more on conversing with your friends than watching whatever may have been on TV. Finally, as someone who always pays attention to a restaurant's artwork... I absolutely LOVED the artwork that was on display at Goat's. They had so many cool pieces of eclectic artwork, that you could almost consider it as much a small art museum as a restaurant. My favorite art piece is kind of hard to describe, but I guess you could say that it was of a God-like man in a suit controlling somebody who was playing golf. (I know, it's hard to describe, but like I said, it's eclectic.) My one (1) downside to Goat's, and the only thing keeping it from a five-star review, is that the bartender and servers were all pretty rude and arrogant. This is speculation, but maybe Goat's is one of those places that considers itself a "regulars" bar, and isn't very nice to people who aren't regular customers, but the three (3) employees I interacted with weren't all that inviting. All in all, Goat's was a great experience, and if it were an option, I'd probably give it something like 4.5 or 4.8 stars if I could. If the servers were a little less full of themselves, or maybe just in a better mood, I'd consider it a five-star experience. Nevertheless, Goat's was a great experience, I'll definitely be back, and I'd recommend that anybody stop in if they're looking for a unique experience in Five Points!

I had already scoured the menu before coming in so I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted. I love that it's smaller portions so you can order different dishes and try a bunch all at once. We started with the baked brie which I think had an apricot spread plus some fruit and bread. Then we did the petit filet mignon, pork with gorgonzola cream sauce, spicy shrimp gambas, and the seared jumbo scallops. This may sound like too much for two people and you would be right but it was so delicious. I highly recommend everything we had. If I had to choose some standouts, the shrimp were phenomenal and I'm still thinking about them. The biggest surprise was the pork. It was a good size portion in comparison and the cream sauce was so good. Honestly, if you followed this order to a T or any variation of it, you can't go wrong. We weren't rushed in any way so in lieu of dessert we took our time finishing that bottle of wine. While there were some other menu items that jumped out at me, I would absolutely come back and order the exact same thing again. This was one of my favorite meals this year.
