Spotted this pub as we drove by, coming into town for a stop over on our way to Norfolk, Va. fortunately it was within walking distance from our hotel. Such a cute area with boutiques, bakery/coffee shops and restaurants. I was excited for, craving and hoping for fish and chips and they did not disappoint! Very friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful pictures of Ireland's landscape in the dinning area adjacent to the bar room. Great cocktail, wine and beer menu. We had EXCELLENT meals...pot roast and fish and chips! Wish I could leave zero stars, but our waitress ended up being extremely nice. Walked in looking for a table of 4. They told us 20-30 minutes which wasn't a problem. Now mind you there were a lot of empty tables with "reserved" on them at that point. Fast forward an hour later, because we didn't get a txt from them, we went in to see what the story was. They proceeded to tell us it would be another 30 minutes. Also the seats that had "reserved" on them were still empty! They said they would take care of us, and walked us over to the bar side, and told us we would have to stand at the counter to eat! I was fuming. The other three from my party walked out, while i proceeded to tell the manager this was extremely poor service! All he could say was they were busy. I pointed out the empty tables that were empty when we first walked in an hour ago and are still empty! They finally gave us one of those tables. We were out in an hour and guess what ...... there were still empty tables with "reserved" on them! Would NOT recommend this place to anyone! My suggestion is to go someplace else!! Walked in and were not greeted or sat, so we decided to grab a seat at the bar. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the pub burger. The burger was perfectly cooked and the fish and chips were good. The bartender was very nice and took care of us. The place has pub vibes, dimly lit, and a lot of TVs. Plenty of brews on tap, love that they had a variety of sports on (most importantly MLB). They also had live music which usually would be a plus but, I couldn't hear myself think never mind what the bar tender was saying or anyone else for that matter. Came here for a business lunch and I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We were seated in the snug area which is private area for small groups I would say up to 8 people. It was very nice and there is a service light that you can turn on if it gets busy. We were there right before busy lunch hour and the service was top tier! I had the fish and chips....and when I say this was the best fish and chips I've ever had I'm NOT lying!!!! The fries were thick cut and cooked to perfection and salted...but not too much just right. The fish was haddock and they were not skimpy with the portion like you get at other places. Again the fish was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and very crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. They definitely know what they are doing here and whenever I get to come back to town, this is definitely on my list to come back to. There are so many different items that I wanted to try since so many were recommended. So run don't walk to this restaurant you will not be disappointed! read more

Only reason I didn't do 5 stars is because we sat for a little while before anyone came over to the table, but after the waitress did stop.....it was amazing from there! Service was fantastic, the waitress was very attentive and had some good conversation. The food was some of the best we have had in quite awhile!!!! Started with the BEST appetizer ever, Irish nachos, which were homemade potato chips with crazy good corned beef mixed thru out and lots of cheese!!!! Downtown Lexington now has several great spots to visit including this one. Fish and chips were the best I've had in a while for lunch. Place was packed incredible difficult to find parking during certain times of the day. But it's worth the effort just be prepared when arriving here. read more

Two words...unexpectedly phenomenal. Why would I say that? I ordered the shrimp and grits at an Irish pub . In no way did I expect them to be that good. The grits were cooked right, the sauce was amazing, shrimp well seasoned and the sausage (cooked with guiness) was actually the start of the show. I can't recommend this dish enough. Only knock was that the tap lines may not be clean as my draft beer tasted a little off. read more

Discovered this gem on Columbia Foodies FB page. It was worth the drive from Aiken. Very nice atmosphere, nice first impression. I ordered their Reuben and my partner had the Bird in the Hand (chicken sandwich w/bacon). Sandwiches came with a side, we ordered the fries. The sandwiches were both absolutely delicious! Small issue with my fries (not hot) but when I requested replacement they could not have been more accommodating. Our server was friendly and very efficient. We ate in the dining room but there is also the pub and porch with additional seating. Parking is very limited in front of building as it is on Main St but there is a parking lot in the back of the building. We are looking forward to returning to O'Hara's to try other items on their menu (especially the fish and chips). Highly recommend if you are anywhere near Lexington, SC. read more

Pittsburgh Steelers fans...here's your spot! You can count on the game bing on. Not a football fan? No worries, they have live music on the pub side, plus a dining room side for those who want a little less action. (We chose the pub side bc of the Irish band- we could still talk yet enjoy the music). Food was fantastic, and surprisingly not too heavy. I had the salad with steak, which was cooked perfectly, with crisp greens and home dressing. Everything we ordered was fantastic, but the Shepards Pie stole the show. Our server was attentive and knew the menu. The only thing I would change is adding a beer list with the menu or a QR code; our server was very good about knowing the list but it was a little more than I could remember. Fabulous food and service by Kayla. Yes they have an extensive wine beer and drink menu and its quality. Irish music playing, gorgeous ambience, really the best dining experience I have had since moving here a week ago. I love this place. Every thing is fresh and presentation is everything. Went to dinner with friends here the other night. I ordered a Reuben sandwich. I was unbelievably disappointed when I went to take a bite and realized that it was diced chunks of pastrami, instead of the thinly sliced meat that the menu indicated. There was very little sauerkraut and almost no dressing on it. I was very disappointed and didn't think to even ask the waitress because I just assumed that's the way they serve them. My friends ordered burgers and they said they were OK. Without out on their back deck, which was nice and our server was very sweet. I probably should have questioned the sandwich, but just thought maybe that's the way they did it there. If I go back, I certainly won't order that sandwich. read more

Actually we ate at the cafe and really enjoyed the atmosphere that was bright and the food that was light. We had a great server who was very friendly and patient with us. What was I thinking when I agreed to eat at Ohara's? I stopped going to Ohara's because I rarely got my food hot. Haven't been there for years. I ordered fish and chips and asked the server to make it come out hot. He said absolutely. I seen an order sitting on the pass for 5 to 10 minutes every time the kitchen door opened. On several occasions, my wife and I had their corned beef Reuben, excellent each time EXCEPT for our last visit over a month ago. We came for a late lunch (after 2:30) and ordered the Reuben sandwich...should have sent it back! The corned beef on the sandwich was full of fatty ends and gristle! Practically inedible! This does give you Irish vibes for sure; however, for me, it was way too loud, and I could not even go into the building. The floor and building do echo a lot, and that does make it louder. I would be interested to try when it's not super loud and you can talk to your table without having to shout or just text them. read more

Madelyn was an excellent server. She corrected any issue that came up. The food and drink was excellent, the banger and mash, and the shepherd's pie lit up our tongue with joy. I came to solo to get a beer and eat at the bar. I got the last seat at 630 Wednesday. It's louder than any bar I've sat at that wasn't late night. The bar tenders hustled but never said a word of chat to me. Only thing was -Want another beer. The Corned beef/cabbage was a big portion and quick enough served. There was no question of if I needed any thing - or is it all ok. The food was ok -a bit bland-but not really as spicy or distinctive as I've had. The back porch was more a restaurant level. It needs more pub type booths and less college type long bar tables with yelling herds. I thought weekday may be a bit calmer. But that's what's there. It's a bar with bar food. read more

Huge disappointment. Quality has gone wayyyyy down from our last visit. My daughter got the corned beef and cabbage-meat had a ton of fat and the cabbage and potatoes were hard and undercooked, carrots were way overdone. My husband got the Irish Dip and it was really light on the meat and the fries were soggy and tasted like cinnamon. Waitress could have cared less. Everyone seems to love O'Hara's Public House (OPH); we'll jump on that train as well. Atmosphere? Well, we like the subtle Pittsburgh influences in decor and menu, and the traditional Irish pub vibe. The burgers we ordered took about 30 minutes to arrive. I'm not complaining. The restaurant was quite busy on Labor Day, and we enjoyed the ambience of the crowd. I ordered the Wimsley burger medium rare, and my wife ordered a Benny medium well. O'Hara's uses a three meat blend for their burgers; this combination makes a tasty burger, though on this occasion both of our buggers we're a tad overcooked. For my side I ordered vegetables--sautéed zucchini and onions. They were seasoned well and maintained just the right crunch. My wife's sweet potato fries were--well--sweet, but kind of soft. We were very pleased with our server, and all in all we left quite satisfied. For ambiance, value, and quality OPH is a solid 4.5! read more

Arrived later on a Sunday and wanted to sit outside like we did on our last visit. Hostess at the front told us to go out to the hostess outside. So we did. Hostess outside said she couldn't serve us because one of the waitresses was MIA missing in action. She went inside to see if she could find her. Nope she could not find her and we should eat inside. We go inside and the hostess inside cleaned a booth for us and we sat down. Josh served us and he was a nice waiter. No issues with Josh. We had an unsweet tea, 2 pints of Guinness and the fried pickles to start. Absolutely delicious. We kept seeing the fish and chips coming out and looked fab. Even though we weren't sure again we found ourselves ordering it. So 2 fish and chips. Unfortunately it wasn't great. Nice bit of fish but batter was like a 70s carpet that had been squished down by everyone walking on it. It wasn't great to be honest, a real disappointment. Normally wouldn't get pot roast at a restaurant but I got the pot roast since many reviews commented on how great it was... my wife got the Mac and we also got the spinach dip for the appetizer. Pot roast was meh. I'd consider it a slight step above Golden Corral buffet-like quality. The real nail in the coffin was using powdered mashed potatoes! Still grainy and lacking flavor. Mac was covered in butter. Truly tasted like a stick of butter and some Parmesan cheese were melted and stirred into wet shells. Spinach dip was pretty good though, slightly above average spinach dip. All said and done, a beer, one appetizer, a side and and entree for $54 including tip seems inflated for the quality of the whole experience. read more

some pros .. and, unfortunately, some cons: the pros .... my wife & I ordered a portion of irish nachos for starters - delicious, if a little on the salty side. For an entree, my wife had the pot roast - superbly cooked, whilst I had the king cut prime rib - again, superbly cooked and rare as requested. The portions were very generous & service was good on the whole as well. now, the cons ... the seating in the dining room is great if you are a fan of wooden benches, but became very uncomfortable after a while; the side of salad with my prime rib dinner never arrived - and by the end of the meal, it had lost its appeal ... black mark on the service! Then there was the noise ... a cacophony of sound! Finally, my biggest gripe was the "Electronic Means Adjustment" of 2.5% conveniently tacked onto the end of the bill ... in other words they levied a fee for us to use a credit card. Now, I could understand it if we were hoovering down booze all evening in the pub, but we were dining in the restaurant side & had but a single drink each. This is just plain tacky!!! Would we return? Maybe for the food, but the prospect of being surrounded by a racket whilst sitting on hard benches doesn't appeal, only to get dunned for using our credit card. read more
