Every single part of it (I honestly think the marrow in the bones would even have flavor lol) is full of robust flavor and is juicy. You can taste the expertly balanced spices and fruit juices in the marinade and rubbed on the skin. Large portion and the sides were delightful too. Oh my goodness! I am so glad I found this place. And it's huge! They are planning to make the back part a "speakeasy ", and another section they are going to have it as a family style restaurant serving food family style to be shared by everyone. I think those are great ideas! I had to order the baja chicken and it was everything I expected it to be. Tender, and packed full of flavor from the marinade and woodfire grill. I asked for a side of their peppered sauce and it is amazing. Just hot enough to make you crave some more without being too vinegary. I bet it would taste great on fish or beef. Ordered the wings and half rack of ribs. Wings were supposed to double cooked, once fried then grilled. The ribs were advertised as "fall of the bone." Wings were nothing special and certainly not grilled. The bbq sauce coating was so sparse, I saw more bare chicken skin than sauce and no visible grill marks. Also I was shorted 2 wings from what menu said. The ribs were just "ok." This one plate plus two beers and tip came to over $70. Although the food was "ok," it wasn't worth that price In my opinion. We ordered the garlic cheese curds as an appetizer and they were full of flavor, and not too garlicky. I had the grilled Salmon with grilled asparagus and sweet potato fries. The asparagus was perfectly seasoned, not soaked in sauce, the sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and the salmon was flaky and delicious. My husband had the fried shrimp with southwest hush puppies which were both fried to perfection. The banana cream cheesecake was the perfect takeaway dessert and it was so rich and creamy. I visited Big Tuna's for the 1st time. I have been to this location 2 other times years ago under different names. It is near where I live. Although it was on a Friday night, it was almost empty. I sat at the bar alone and the bartender was very attentive and nice. I ordered an Ultra draft which she found they were out of so I ordered a bottle of it. I had the fish and chips with cod and it was excellent although pricey at $22.99. It was a big portion of thick pieces and the fries were perfect. The owner, Jeff stopped by to ask about how I enjoyed it which I think is a big plus. I will come back and perhaps try their prime steak sometimes. I should have taken a picture of the food, but, I was with a big group of people. The waitress was wonderful. The owner, I'm not so sure. He brought out a baked potato for one of the girls and it was way undercooked, and he said it was from last night. He doesn't typically take orders from the dinner menu and so the potato was made last night....who does that? I took one bite of the beans and rice and immediately felt nauseas, the taco, you couldn't even pick it up by hand, the chicken tasted "off". And, there was nobody in there but our group. I don't write a review unless it's either excellent, and people should go, or if it's horrible and things need to change. In this case, things need to change..... Mr Jeff replied to me on here. An update. My friend who had the same meal I ordered, but did not eat, was sick that evening. She felt like it was food poisoning. The potatoe thing, there is no excuse in my book to serve a day old, undercooked potatoe. Just say that it was a mistake and ask if they wanted something else? This is really a bar more than a restaurant. It was a seat yourself kind of place. The tables and chairs (no booths) were spartan. We went on Friday about 5 pm and we were the only people there. I assume it gets busy later on in the evening. They do serve entrees as well as traditional bar food. It was fine. My husband got the ribs and the value for the money was good. He had enough to take home in a box. My smothered chicken was a little dry, but I liked it fine. The portions were quite large. We've got the ribs, which were very meaty and tender. A half a rack was easily the size of a full racket at other restaurants. We went to the Speak Easy dining room for Valentine's Day. Very disappointing. Our food came out cold, vegetables were so hard could barely cut with a knife after apparently cooked on a grill, our 65.00 steak was supposed to be medium well and came out rare, forgot salad, Salmon was so fishy tasting (more than normal) that a had ask for teriyaki sauce to cover up the taste. They were not busy when we were there and food took about 30 minutes. Customers behind us also complained about food taking so long and coming out cold. We were very disappointed with our experience. While looking for a restaurant for my husband's surprise 50th birthday party, I had the good fortune to run across this place and the owner, Jeff, was so accommodating. He even ended up being our server after the waitress didn't show for her shift, but it turned out lovely! He was able to give us great recommendations that suited each person. The sweetest one was when my daughter-in-law was struggling to decide, so he told her, "Just close your eyes... now think of sitting at your favorite place and eating your favorite food. What is it?" and he found the perfect dish for her. I've never seen a server (or owner) be that attentive. The private room has beautifully finished wood across the ceiling & walls, a private bar (which we didn't utilize, but would be great for larger gatherings) and opens up a covered outdoor patio with a large patio heater for those chilly days. Plus, the guests come & go through a private entrance, instead of through the main restaurant. The kids & young adults enjoyed the small assortment of arcade games and pool table, as the adults finished their delicious meals. I highly recommend the Baja Chicken, twice cooked wings and cheesy fries, but everything was extremely good! My stepmother-in-law didn't care for the sauce she selected for her Tri Tip steak, so Jeff got her a different sauce (BBQ) which she liked. I ordered a cake from our favorite bakery and dropped it off the day before. They kept it refrigerated for me until it was time for the "big reveal" and even gave us paper plates for serving, after I forgot to bring some. They really saved the day! I was beyond grateful. This was our first time even eating here, and my husband is already making plans to return. Thank you, Jeff, for making this a memorable birthday! **I almost forgot- they also offer a variety of options for paying. There's a QR code on each receipt that's easy to scan using iPhone or Android devices to pay using your phone, so no waiting around if you're in a hurry! He typed in each order and sent it to the kitchen without having to leave the table. Sunday evening, my daughter and I went to try it out. Sat at the bar and watched some football. The owner Jeff was running the bar. He is so friendly and great to be around. He showed us the upcoming speakeasy and showed my daughter the kitchen area. My daughter had the wings, which she devoured. I had the filet, cabbage salad and beef taco. What a hidden gem! My son's soccer team needed a place to have our end of year party and I found Big Tuna's on social media. I'm so glad that I did. I spoke to the owner and scheduled a time for our group to have our party. We were seated at a long table and it was perfect to accommodate our large group. It could definitely accommodate even larger groups. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They were quick to take our orders and very helpful. The adults snacked on appetizers, which were all delicious. Each of the kids enjoyed their kids meal. I didn't hear anyone complain about anything. Everything was perfect and we had such a great time. We will definitely return and I would love to come back again to sample some of the delicious things that I saw others in our party get.
