Live music night! The atmosphere here is always great! The food is good. It's an All American type spot, burgers, hotdogs, grill cheese, wings, pasta. They have good sweet potato fries. And the burgers and wings are always good. You're not going to find a better location in the fall on a Saturday afternoon when the Gamecocks are in town! Reasonably priced family friendly spot. The waitresses and hostesses are always great! Cam waited on us tonight and she was super cool and bounced around! The restaurant is in a great location right next to William Brice Stadium, which makes it super convenient, especially on game days. We were also able to bring our dogs, which was a nice bonus and added to the overall experience. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, checking in on us a reasonable amount without being overbearing. However, the wait time for our food was disappointing. It took about 30 minutes to arrive, even though the restaurant wasn't very crowded. I ordered the steak quesadilla, and unfortunately, it was underwhelming. The bottom was soggy, and the steak was bland and somewhat rubbery. On a positive note, the beer cheese was really good and probably the highlight of the meal. Overall, the experience was just okay. Nothing stood out as particularly special, and the food didn't quite meet expectations. Our Romeo group of 10 went here for lunch today. Arrived at 11:30 and were seated at a nice long table. The waitress finally came around to take our orders about 15 minutes after we'd been sitting. We ordered 3 Captain Crunch Chicken Salads, a Bologna sandwich, a Pulled pork sandwich, a Chicken and one other wrap, a catfish Po'Boy and a couple more items. We finally got our food about 30-40 minutes later although the waitress did bring our drinks about 5 minutes or so after we'd ordered them. The restaurant wasn't that busy and they seemed to have enough staff but it sure seemed like it took a long time. I must say the waitress never really stopped back to check on our drinks til we'd almost finished our meal. The Captain Crunch Chicken Salad was just so-so. The chicken wasn't real hot but fairly warm. I doubt if I'd order it again. The Bologna sandwich was good and the guys liked their wraps. The person ordering the Po-Boy was expecting it to have catfish filets rather than Catfish nuggets...and there were so many of them he had to pull them off the sandwich in order to close it and eat it. He said he wouldn't order it again. Pulled pork must've tasted better than it looked because it was given a 4.0. Based on the time it took to get our orders and the food I doubt if we'll be returning with this group. read more

I usually snag pictures but this place was a surprise stop. For an unplanned trip, J's corner definitely hit the mark. The waitress was amazing and patient as our group got larger by the minute. I had a wedge salad and it was EXACTLY what I wanted at the moment. It was packed with chicken, bacon and some of the best blue cheese dressing I've had in a while. The vibe is very laidback and there was a corn hole tournament going on. My only knock on this place is that parking is limited. I can see this being a local spot to hit up after work to get some good food , great drinks, without breaking the bank. read more

J's Corner is definitely a mixed bag. In terms of the ambiance, setup, and location, it's one of the best restaurants in Columbia. I love how wide open the floor plan is, and how they have so many TVs in your sight line. It's also a great place to see live music on a nice day, and seems like a great place to take your kids and let them run around. Having said that, the food and drink at J's leave a good bit to be desired. The mozzarella sticks I got were below average, and reminded me of the ones from a grocery store deli, not a sit-in restaurant. The chicken tenders were solid but unspectacular, and the fries were simply not very good. I also got a vodka pineapple to drink, which distaste's more like water than vodka or pineapple. In all, J's gets a 5/5 for ambiance, and a (generous) 2/5 for food and drink. read more

We arrived at 8:30 on a Friday night. We were told 1 1/2 hour wait. We looked around, no one standing waiting, empty tables so we took our chances. 25 mins later our table was ready. 10 minutes after sitting at our table our server got us some drinks and then came back to tell us if we wanted food it was going to be about 2 hours. The table behind us had ordered an hour prior and still had no food. We were told they had 4 servers and 6 kitchen staff working at the moment and the manager left. There was a stand in manager at the door when we left and she had nothing to say. I've worked in restaurants most of my life and have never heard of 2 hour ticket times. We come for game weekends every year and have eaten here numerous times. On a normal day the service is ok and food is decent and it's very convenient for us. After this trip we've decided to go give up on them. I'm not sure if management is that crappy or owners don't want to make money because the place could be a gold mine. read more

I went to a private event and was very let down. There was easily 300+ people and 2 maybe 3 bartenders doing the best they could. We stood in line for and hour and a half and never even got a drink. We, along with MANY others opted to leave and go elsewhere. Yall lost A LOT of money, very poor planning on your part considering what was charged to rent the location. I've never been here before. I was impressed. The staff was friendly the restaurant atmosphere was awesome. The restaurant way super clean. The bathrooms were spotless. We ordered the fried cheese sticks. They were huge but i was not impressed with the breading at all. Spice weren't great was to much Oregano However everything else was great i got the phillly chicken cheese it was awesome so were the wing chips. They have a large outdoor area. Rude bartenders seem to be a trend here. I myself am a waitress, so I feel like I give a lot grace when it comes to bad service. This place..no way. I sat at the bar at a slow time. Waited :15+ to be asked for my drink order. I got a draft beer that wasn't even poured anywhere near the top. I sat here waiting to order food. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this place. We stopped by at 9:15 pm and almost didn't go in because of the hours on the door. The kitchen closes at 9:30 but everything else stays open until 11. We both order similar items with the double pork chops. They were delicious! Plus it left plenty of leftovers the next day. The mashed potatoes have a little kick to them and the Mac n Cheese is nice & cheesy. My boyfriend loved the curly fries too! Also everyone who helped us were super friendly, accommodating and always willing to help with suggestions. I did originally ordered the Watermelon Smash but I had no idea it was a shot! The description was misleading so my waiter allowed me to order instead the Rum Punch, which was sweet and a mixed drink. I didn't know this but dogs are allowed on the outside patio as long as they are on a leash. I'll definitely be coming back with my pup and to try more items on the menu. read more

J's Corner is located at the old Jaco Location. The decor is upscale for an "American Restaurant & Bar" On to the food. I ordered 6 Buffalo wings and 6 Jerk wings. They were fall off the bone tender! The Buffalo seasoning was perfect but the Jerk was more of a dry rub. They were not bad, but not what you would get if you ordered Jerk wings in Ocho Rios. (Jamaica) My Bride got the Caribbean Marinated Chicken with Mango Salsa and Avocado. She really enjoyed it. Our waiter was very attentive. We usually have a couple drinks before we order. He made sure our drinks were always full. I think his name was Nick. I do have a couple comments: (1) The noise level is a bit high as all the surfaces in the bar are either concrete or wood. They really need something soft to absorb some of the sound bouncing around. (2) The drink menus are well done; the Menu on the other hand is a sheet of legal paper copied several times too many. I was at my desk with a huge headache and needing to eat but nothing sounded good. J's is really close to work so I pulled up their menu to see if anything sounded appealing.. Mashed potatoes and gravy jumped out at me, along with a side of broccoli and cheese. Not gourmet but I needed comfort food. The ordering process was quick and I was given a 30 minute pickup time. The food was hot and delicious when I got it back to my desk. I don't know if the mashed potatoes and gravy had medicinal properties or not, but they were so yummy and comforting that I instantly felt a little better :). I just got off the river from striper fishing and decided to give J's Corner a shot and im so glad I did! They have the most unique chicken tenders I've ever tasted. They are juicy, crispy, and are battered in Captain Crunch cereal. The fried okra was phenomenal and the spicy Mac & Cheese was out of this world! For 5 people they automatically added 20% tip. Thinking it was just a 15% tip we added $5 more but was surprised they did that with a small group. The food was ok the service was slow. The part that was most upsetting was our bill was $78. We tipped 0 on the card and left $16 in cash. When I looked at my charge 2 days later, I was charged $88. I called the restaurant not because of the $10 but the principle of it. We still left more than 20% in spite of slow service. They said they found the ticket and the waitress "must have gotten mixed up". The manager was supposed to call the next day and give me a credit. That never happened. Neat place! Great drink options, tons of TVs, comfortable seating. I bet this place will be crazy on a game day but we hit them when the doors had just opened on a Sunday morning so it was very calm. Paper menus with some really varying food options. We opted to drink and not to eat as we were waiting to go to brunch. The bartender was absolutely lovely. This restaurant is female owned and newly renovated. I definitely think this place could be a great time with friends or after a game. It's super close to the stadium and the downtown area. Plenty of parking and it wasn't too hard to get into. There is a great deal of potential here, I look forward to another trip to see how they are doing. read more

Came to this establishment at noon on a Saturday. Several empty tables. Was told it would be a 10 min wait for a table. Decided to sit at bar. Server/bartender promptly got our drink order and told us we would have to wait to put our order in because the kitchen was backed up. About 10 min later, our order was taken. I was a little surprised to see the average on the reviews of J's Corner. Went here for the first time today with 5 of my friends at lunchtime. The place wasn't very full due to the rainy cold weather and we were immediately seated and the waitress took our drink orders. The menu looked great with a lot of good choices. A couple of us were interested with the Captain Crunch chicken and also the Fish and Chips (Fried Grouper). I asked the waitress which she preferred and she recommended the fish. So four of us ordered the Fish and Chips. Comes with two sides. I ordered a side Caesar (replaces one side for an additional $2.50) and a side of blue cheese cole slaw. The food came out in a regular amount of time (one of our members order was late as they mis-counted the number of orders). The fish was the best fish that I've had in Columbia. Previously my favorite fish and chips were from the Liberty Tap on Lake Murray, but this was as good or better. The coating was nice and light and crisp and not at all greasy. There were about 4-5 pieces of fish. Everybody that ordered the fish said the same thing. It was definitely a hit. My Caesar salad was also very good. Nice dressing. Croutons were fresh. One other ordered a regular house salad as a side and it looked great. Had a hard boiled egg and it looked like bacon in it. I think I'll try that one next time. Both were good sized salads and not small. I wouldn't attempt to go here on a game day...unless possibly you were tailgating or something because I imagine it would be so busy you'd never get served. They have garage doors that open on all sides so I can see how this would be a great atmosphere on a nice day or evening. A group of use, 13 visited on Friday night We arrived at 5:30 in evening. The restaurant wasn't very busy at that time. Fast forward two and 1/2 hours later, most at our table had not been served. We asked for the manager. One in our party new the manager. However, he did not come to our table, sent one of the other managers. Her first explanation was "we setup our kitchen in sections to prepare different items on the menu and if you are not in those sections where it is easy and quick, then you just need to be patient and wait". We told her the food had been coming to the table over the last hour, but several were still waiting. What was happening was a couple meals would be delivered, 10 -15 minutes later a couple more meals would arrive and it continued that way, even during the time we were discussing it with the manager. Of the 13 in our party, 5 had not been served anything. Of those served, all stated their food came out very cold. Cold hamburgers, tacos, fried okra, nachos, etc. This was the third time I had been there and service was slow on the first two visits, but not like this. Never stepping foot in J's Corner again. Hostess and waitresses are incredibly untrained. Would not recommend coming here any day where there is any part of a crowd. Hostess yelling at guest during a busy football season night shows just how badly the employees at this restaurant were trained. I did not appreciate being treated poorly and yelled at by a college student who was stressed simply because she was busy while also waiting 1.5 hour for chips and dip and 45 min for our drinks. I would not recommend coming here unless your ready to wait almost two hours for food and deal with rude college students. read more

Our first visit to your restaurant was today, 5/15/2021. It was a disaster to say the least. It was after our grandson's college graduation. When we got to the restaurant they had no idea there was a graduation and had only 3 waitresses for indoors and outdoors. We were seated at 11:30, no one came to take our order until after 12 noon. What is bad is there was only one other table seated indoors and one outdoors. They finally served us our food at 2:30. People that came into be seated way after us, ate and left before we were even served. Not one time did a manager even come to our table about the food delay. We will not go back! read more
