There are some very good donuts here if u know which ones to get. My 3 favorites here are the Voodoo Doll (which I got tonight), Diablos Rex and the Homer. My doll donut was so delicious in every bite with its combination of a very chocolaty outer presence and tart, refreshing raspberry gel in the filling.
Despite having been to Portland a few times, I never thought my first time having Voodoo Donuts would be in Houston Texas. The main reason - no line at the Houston store. We happen to drive by and made a quick stop to try their donuts. There was only one party ahead of us, and they were actually a bit slow. We got two chocolate ring donuts and a voodoo doll. The voodoo doll was supposed to have chocolate on the outside and raspberry filling inside, however, the voodoo doll I got was missing the raspberry filling inside. I let the staff know and they replaced my voodoo doll. The next one had plenty of raspberry filling. Their donuts are large, colorful, fun, and tasty. I wouldn't say they were the best donuts I've ever had, but they were enjoyable and a very good size. The customer service was really good. I tried the Homer, which is their strawberry doughnut, and it was good. I think I like the chocolate more, but strawberry was good too. The shop was clean, cool, and not too busy. The donuts were not super soft...they were a little more firm, but still really good.
I can't tell you how much of a donut fan I am. If there was a voodoo donut close by I think I'd have to be there a couple of times a week. Unfortunately, the closest one is probably an hour away, but while I was in Houston, I stumbled the upon a voodoo donut shop. I just had to slam on the brakes and turn into that parking lot . if you've never had voodoo donuts you've got to try them. They are absolutely wonderful. I like all the different flavors. You can find yeast donuts, as well as cake a lot of specialty donuts like bacon maple you can even find some that are decorated with Froot Loops. They also sell some pretty cool stickers. Yummy location in Montrose. Employees are super friendly and they have some many donut options. Do yourself a favor and have some "cheat" food every once in a while!
I don't eat donuts often. But I heard about Voodoo Donuts and I have to stop by to try it. I often drive by this restaurant and always curious about what the voodoo does. The pink storefront and pink interior made me wanting to try something pink. The employee Helen enthusiastically helped me to accomplish that. She gave me suggestions because I am a novice to the Voodoo Donuts jargons. Everything looked so fresh and delicious in the rotating display case. Dirt Donut caught my attention as it's loaded with crushed Oreo cookies. But I would mess up my car interior if get one today. Another problem, because I wore a brand-new white shirt. I chose the rainbow pride donuts, just because June is the Pride Month. The Bavarian cream filling was so delicious. It makes wanting to come back to get another one.
As much as I wanted to enjoy the experience, it was a tough one. I'm leaving this review months after trying this location. I ordered doughnut for pick up in the morning. They tasted old, definitely not fresh. It was a disappointment but I just chalked it up to a loss. A few days later, I received an email from their Marketing team regarding a survey on my experience. I took the survey and was honest. To my surprise, they actually read my response and informed me that I would be provided a gift card to give them another try. I thought to myself, wow what a company and what great customer service. This was back in May 2025. Here we are in August and after following up directing with the marketing folks, still have yet to receive anything. I now live aways from the area, so I likely won't be going out of my way to give them a second chance had I received the gift card. I DEFINITELY won't be going them a second chance at this point because of their lies and lack of service. Quite unfortunate since we were excited to try them out and enjoy our doughnuts. ONE STAR.
I had no idea that voodoo was not just in Portland, so excited to get to have their donuts again. I went in first thing in the morning, got fresh donuts for my team at work. The voodoo dozen did not disappoint. I ate one donut and was full al day and the team was stoked to have voodoo donuts. We all shared bites of donuts to get all the flavors. They tasted just as I remembered, the dough is the star of the show the donuts were cooked perfectly and they glazed or frosted them to perfection. I definitely recommend making an effort to stop by and check them out.
Perfectly delicious! I just love their seasonal and holiday donuts. I ordered this for a Christmas get together. The pick up was easy and the donuts were so cute and such a hit. Just can't go wrong as a party tray.
My family recently got really into the Go Nuts Donuts game, so naturally after a few rounds of the game, we NEEDED some donuts. Voodoo donuts was the perfect spot as it was open 24 hours and we needed donuts after dinner. We came here on a Saturday evening. Not too busy. There was another family dining in on their donuts, and a few people came in to order. I really enjoyed looking at their donut tower and the various donut selections they had. It was great to see the actual donuts on display (versus just reading a description) as that definitely makes all the difference, so good job Voodoo! The only minor improvement I'd like to see is that the donuts only had names written below but no descriptions, so I had to keep asking the worker what was inside each donut. A simple parenthesis (no filling) or (custard filled) would've been extremely helpful! My husband got the cannolo donut and I chose the maple blazer blunt, which is a cinnamon sugar raised donut with a bit of maple glaze and red sprinkles. We're both not fans of glazed donuts since we find them unbearably sweet. I liked that I was able to easily flake off the maple glaze and just eat a little bit of it with the rest of my donut. I enjoyed both donuts, but probably would choose the cannolo over the maple blazer blunt because the maple blazer blunt had no filling and the bread was a bit dry. The custard cream inside the cannolo donut helped offset some of the dryness, hence why I would pick it again. Overall it was a good experienced, but nothing to rave about either. I think our donuts were probably sitting there for a while and I'm sure they would've been much tastier had they been fresh out the fryer. I would come back if I was in the area and the donut hankering a strike!
Super friendly service, nice music and aesthetic. Each voodoo donut is decorated by hand and a bit unique. Rotating carousel shows all of the different options, takes a while to see all the flavors but fun to look at. The voodoo donut is chocolate on top with raspberry filling. Not a donut connoisseur, but I bc my opinion it was not bad but not mind blowing. Think I would go for one of the more unique flavors they have if I were to come back again.
Donuts! I have a sweet tooth so it's hard to disappoint me when anything sugar is involved. I have seen this Voodoo donuts a million times (I have a rental property in the neighborhood) and I finally decided to go inside. I love the decor of the place it was all pink and has framed art work, even if you go to the back where the bathroom is the space is full of art. The place is open 24/7 which is another big plus in my book, cashier was friendly and very patient they have a ton of options to chose from so I took quite a while looking through their menu. The variety is insane here there were so many different donuts to choose from I know for a fact I will come back and try more. Very creative concepts and the donuts are tasty, but now that I think about it, I don't think I ever had a bad donut lol
I've been contemplating on visiting this place for years! The first time I reviewed the menu, I thought there was just too much going on. Who would want a maple glazed with slices of bacon? Me, it's me! Oh my goodness, why didn't I try sooner? Simply amazing! Friendly customer service, clean atmosphere with so many varieties of Voodoo Doughnuts to select from. Please stop by and give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed and if you are, something went wrong on the day you decided to try.
The service is friendly and prompt. The inside is designer classic albeit with graphics and merchandise. The quality is top notch with several vegan option. Easy parking surprising for Montrose.
My family and I stopped in after grabbing some food from Acme! The family was here visiting and had never heard of VooDoo Doughnuts. The girls that worked last night were freaking awesome. They explained each flavor and let us sample a donut (the paradise and it was way too sweet for us). We ended up getting different kinds. Unfortunately I had our orders split into different boxes and forgot to take a picture of their box. read more

Wow!! Sinfully delicious. I have now been back twice to pick up these awesome doughnuts for my parents. I like the classic dozen for now. May be more adventurous in the future. I love the store and the vibrant colors. The staff are awesome and very helpful. I like that they are knowledgeable about their products. Very trendy in the Montrose area as well. Voodoo is sooo good! My fave doughnuts are the homer and the ol dirty bastard! They are so delectable. I love the consistency across all the various locations. Where do I even begin..?? It's freaking Voodoo Doughnuts! Freaking Voo..Doo... DOUGHNUTS! Vegan Donuts FTW!!! So awesome seeing them come to town FOR THE SECOND TIME... My wife & I were finally able to try the newest location. We were not let down one bit; we were so excited and snacked on the goods for days! I had no idea how BIG the donuts would be.. super shocked & the Plant-Based options they had were many! Wow! I am so happy to have tried Voodoo & can't wait to go back! (insert drooling emoji here) We just randomly picked, but they did have a Vegan Dozen Box, we would probably get that next time. -Amazing Customer Service -Very nice joint, incredible art pieces, & wall art. The donuts were tasty. I wouldn't say they were "better" than the average donut, but the novelty of these kind of donuts is pretty cool. I would have given them 5 stars, but I think the way they put the donuts in such a small and cramped box really takes away from the value of spending that much on donuts. (See picture) I got the Voodoo dozen to take back home (5 hours away), and honestly it still would have been a pretty bad take out situation even if I lived close. They need wider flatter boxes like Dunkin Donuts since these kind of donuts are necessarily the standard size. Overall, I would probably go again, but I wouldn't order the dozen. I would maybe just order a La carte. Also, I ordered the "c**k and b**ls" which was actually one of the better tasting ones--like a Boston cream pie it is it's own separate thing that is HUGE (see picture lol) read more

Yummy sugar rush! My friend and I split a few different donuts to try different ones. They definitely got devoured before pictures. My favorite was the churro. Second favorite Maple Old Fashion. We also tried Mango Tango and Captain crunch. Don't forget to grab a bottle of water or milk to wash it down. read more
Customer service: 10/10 really great staff. They didn't have a knife to cut the doughnut to share, but we used a coffee stick to cut the fluffy goodness Ambiance: 10/10 great vibe, good music, fun place to hang out Doughnut: 7/10 the doughnut itself was so fluffy and perfect. The frosting adding too much sweetness for me and my friend. We both thought it would have been great without the mouth breaking sweetness coming from the frosting, we brushed off some of the toppings. Your humble yet infallible reviewer usually patronizes Christy's donuts around the corner on West Gray at Montrose (egg and cheese croissants, sausage and cheese croissants and jalapeño sausage kloblasnicky, in addition to first-rate old-school donut offerings), but Voodoo Doughnuts offers some very high-design alternatives and a few interesting flavors, and riffs off a fun, naughty New Orleans Voodoo vibe, so if you're in the mood for that kind of thing, this is a solid choice. Among the seasonal offerings this Maunday Thursday was a yellow iced chick-shaped "Peep" filled with marshmallow "creme" which was one of the better choices, according to your reviewer's official donut tasters. This nod to a modern commercial symbol of the Christian Holy Week helped to counterbalance other arguably religious-themed offerings on the same shelf which might seem more sinister to some, such as the franchise's trademark Voodoo doll donut (impaled by a pretzel stake so that its red raspberry filling leaks out), and its ubiquitous and misunderstood pentacle donut (misnamed "Diablo Rex" and thus associated in the minds of many with the Devil, although the pentacle is a positive, earth-reverent Wiccan symbol that predates Christianity and its fallen angel doctrine). Their single-entendre pink box slogan notwithstanding, this particular Westheimer location of the VD franchise has also fully embraced the heritage of its Montrose location, next door to Erotic Cabaret, with such menu additions as the "Gay Bar" (a--sadly unfilled--white iced bar-shaped donut decorated with rainbow hearts) and a menacingly large, chocolate-coated "cock and balls" donut (not pictured). There were also some interesting flavor experiments in the case, the best of which by far was the elderflower and honey-filled "cannolo" (VD's cannoli actually look more like tubular cremehorns, and it was hard to tell if any actual ricotta was used in the filling, but whatever the ingredients, the taste was unusual, and appropriately "Montrose fabulous"). If you can check your sectarianism at the door, and bring your senses of humor and adventure (and a lot of money--fancy high-design donuts aren't cheap), then there is a lot to like at any Voodoo Doughnut, and while the late lamented gay bar landmark on the corner (Mary's, The National Bar of Texas...naturally!") is now yet another ho-hum urban hipster coffee house, at least this nearby Montrose location of Voodoo Doughnuts is starting out trying hard to be true to its location on the famed Westheimer curve by serving up some inventive and amusing sweet treats. Really cute donut shop. I've seen these donuts all over social media and I finally got the chance to try them. I think the only appeal is how the donuts are decorated. Flavor wise, they were mediocre, I prefer Shipleys. They do have vegan donuts which I'm sure the vegans appreciate. I liked the interior of the place too. But they're a tad bit overpriced; $25 for a dozen seems a little excessive. read more

Honestly this place was just okay for the hype. The selection is overwhelmingly large and creative, but while the donuts are huge, they are expensive and leave much to be desired. The Cap'n Crunch was stale on top of the Oh Captain, My Captain donut, the Hi-Tea (earl grey icing with hibiscus icing) mostly just tasted like sugar without the subtle flavors I was expecting. The limited edition Lotta Horchata was also just okay. Our favorite was the Mango Tango filled with mango jelly and topped with Tang powder that was creative and tasty. Overall, glad we tried it, but most of the items were just overly sweet for our liking. We probably will try to find other old school mom and pop donut shops to satisfy our donut cravings. read more

Now LOOK! CALLING ALL DONUT LOVERS AND LOVERS OF DONUTS! THIS IS A MUST SEE, EAT, TASTE, AND SMELL STOP! My mother and I are visiting from California and I was determined to try out this place. Just the outside alone and the area is spectacular! Free parking. Accessible. But the best part of it has to be DOMINIQUE! He greeted us with a 1000 watt smile and remained patient why we took in all the flavors, colors, and vibe this place had to offer. So many photo opportunities and IT IS EXTREMELY CLEAN. Oh and they offer Curbside and Online Pickup which is MARVELOUS. Dominque was informative, helpful, kind and super sweet. Plus he gave us an extra treat just because! I mean how cool is that? There are so many donuts to choose from so it's never boring. Oh did I mention they have coffee and hot chocolate? Very affordable prices too. Definitely worth the visit! read more

This was a late night stop after a long day of exploring Houston. It was fairly busy even at 11 pm but the line was quick. My husband was a bit mesmerized by all the donuts and maybe got a little carried away with his order lol We snacked on them throughout the weekend and he was pleasantly surprised that they tasted just as good as they looked. Some of the frosting was a little too thick and had to be taken off and he didn't end up caring for one donut but all in all we both loved it. read more

Ordered donuts online night before because we had an early flight to catch in the morning. Donuts were fresh, ready and waiting for me when I arrived at scheduled time! They were huge and delicious. Kids 100% approved coffee was also delicious. Highly recommend! read more
