The best burgers in Atlanta...period! And the atmosphere is incredible. Get the Coronary Bypass burger.

This place doesn't stack up and can't compete with almost any other burger place. The burgers disappointed and the atmosphere smacks more of a theme park than a bar. Perhaps a TGIF with tatoos for flair would describe it. On our visit the Manager's insistence on playing 80's top 40 ruined the atmosphere. We complained and the staff agreed, but she didn't care. Overall this place needs to decide if they want to be Kuma's or Olive Garden. read more

Okay now this place is just so over rated. I feel as if people just come to the vortex to say that they've been there. There's nothing special about it. The place looks dirty and the waitresses are so bad. I went there on a Saturday night with a few friends and our waitress and service here couldn't have sucked even more. The service and our waiter was so poor. When our food came out the wings were way to salty we didn't even touch the rest of the wings. We kept having to ask a host to go get our waiter several of times and when she came back she seemed so upset that we asked someone else to go get her. The wait was not for too long but there is trouble finding parking so beware. Service is very good and food is great! I ordered the Yokohama burger and it was amazing. They give you very good portions for the price. I would absolutely come back. That night they had a special, called the Sriracha burger and despite it being very spicy it was delicious. We arrived at the Vortex on a Sat night at 8pm. There was a 45 min wait. We went to another establishment because we were catching a concert at the Varierty Playhouse around the corner. We went back at 12:45 am, there was no wait. The food was just 'ok". I had a turkey burger whick was really small. It looked as though it was prepackage and previously frozen. The meat was bland and the chorizo spread was spicy, but didnt do the sandwich any justice. I had fried plaintains as my side which were almost burnt. I saw the Vortex on "Man vs Food". SMOKE! Smoke smoke smoke smoke! The owner is a belligerent smoker. Before the nonsmoking law passed in Atlanta, he had a tiny "Nonsmoking" section where the tables were literally 18 inches from the smoking section. When the legislation passed, he turned all smoking and banned under 18 years old and griped and shouted about it the whole time. That's sad, because the burger was great. I miss it. But I value my lungs, and there are other burgers in town. read more

Today I was introduced to the Vortex in Atlanta, GA. off of Morehead Ave at little five points. First of all it's crowded with can seem a little off-putting at first. It's cramped and very confined, but.... that is completely irrelevent. My mind was completely blown by this place. The servers are fun and witty, the menu is hysterical and explains the "rules" of the house with absolutely zero fuck$ to give. I got the Big bad voodoo burger with tater tots. It has chipotle cream cheese, four slices of the best perfectly cooked bacon I've ever had and a sweet and spicy green pepper jelly. I broke into a sweat at the first bite. It was so good I wanted to punch a puppy, and I'm not even a violent soul. This place makes you want to slap the cook out of pure appreciation of their work; that is if you can make it back there without having to take a knee. Your heart will be in duress for a considerable amount of time. With all that said Thank You Naomi for introducing me to this place!
