Our DJ, Kyle McAuley, was AMAZING. He was so helpful with the planning & always responded quickly to our emails and answered all of our questions. We were completely blown away on the night of our wedding. Their was a music festival right next door to our ceremony spot (very unfortunate) but Kyle did a great job making sure our music could be heard. Kyle made sure to incorporate music that we picked out, which was important to me. I didn't think many people would dance at our wedding, but Kyle brought so much energy, and to my surprise, the dance floor was full the whole night! It's obvious that Kyle is passionate about what he does. I received SEVERAL compliments from our friends and family about Kyle. We hired Harrison and Malcolm for our June wedding in Martin Johnson House and they are awesome and professional! Before the wedding, Harrison and us had several efficient discussions about our song list, DJ planning and other things. He offered many suggestions like the wedding games, songs for each stage that inspired us a lot. Most importantly, we asked for a dual-language wedding (Chinese and English) and Harrison did a perfect DJ work of hosting most of the events in both languages in native tongues, which makes both Chinese-only and English-only guests happy. Besides that, we were worrying about the atmosphere for a long time since many guests are pretty shy. But the humor of Harrison helped our guests to enjoy the party and become more active! He asked necessary questions to really understand what our needs were and was extremely attentive in following up. They were very patient (we were really picky) when designing the photobooth template and we were all extremely happy with the outcome. The attendant, Marc Minero, was a complete joy to work with. We had a fantastic experience with Vox DJs, and with DJ Tommy specifically! DJ Tommy was recommended to us based on our initial meeting with the Vox DJs coordinator. We are so glad we went with him! We then met with him in person a month or two before the wedding, and we all just clicked really well. He was so personable, friendly, and funny! We laughed so much during our meeting together. He was also very good at listening to what we wanted, and was able to reassure us that there would be no cheesiness to his DJing. We had A LOT of specific songs we wanted played, including some by our friends, and he was super accommodating. We also asked him in advance to send us a list of all the songs he ended up playing, which he did, and so now we can relive it whenever we feel like it. We also had a check-in call with him a week or two before the wedding, and he was so on top of everything, which made us sure that he'd be all set to deliver on the actual wedding day. And he absolutely did! He arrived well in advance of the ceremony start time, was charming and professional to everyone, and kept the multigenerational crowd dancing for hours. He made sure to let everyone involved know when the parent-children dances and wedding party speeches were about to begin, so no one would be taking an ill-timed bathroom break right when they were needed. He seamlessly blended our song requests with his own additions, and people are still asking us for the playlist! We had to sit out a couple of our favorite songs just because there were no dud songs -- we needed a moment to recuperate! If DJ Tommy is reading this, he KNOWS that we've got to thank him for honoring our request to play "Party in the USA" (an in-joke crowd favorite) at the peak moment of the reception. It was perfectly timed, and his idea to play it again after the "final" song of the night was the perfect coda to a wonderful wedding! We absolutely recommend Vox DJs and DJ Tommy! read more

After spending so much money on our wedding we were hoping to spend a bit less on the DJ but after talking to tons of people and thinking it through, it's true...you don't want to skimp on the DJ. The person who basically makes or breaks your entire event. We had Kahai Owens and the guy was super solid from the start. Professional and courteous in our planning meetings, and he didn't make things any harder than they needed to be. Played all our requested songs and many more just like 'em. Vox DJs did a wonderful job providing us with James Shippy to DJ and MC our event. James arrived with plenty of time prior to the start of our ceremony to set up his equipment. We had 3 separate locations for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and James ensured that all 3 had the appropriate speakers and mics ready ahead of time. In the lead up to the wedding, we provided James with a list of songs that we liked and requested throughout the evening, and James made sure that they were played along with a whole lot other songs he had selected to keep everything fun and upbeat. We also used Vox DJs to provide the lighting for the dancefloor which was great fun. The DJ for a wedding is just as important as the music you pick. DJ Shippy couldn't have been better. He was perfect both musically and technically (he was able to patch mics and add microphones and sound to a system he was unfamiliar with.) When he was working the music and emcee'ing the day he was present and 'cool', without ever overdoing it... he read the crowd all through the day and the evening perfectly - literally building the experience aurally, as well as getting the party started and then keeping it going strong. Our guests still talk about how ours was the only wedding they'd been to where they felt like every person there couldn't wait to be up on their feet and dancing. James was even able to handle some music that he didn't even know well - Gypsy jazz guitar from the 30's for cocktail hour, which he moved seamlessly from that to the evening of blended hits, smart disco, soul and r and b with a motown backbone. He always added to the party, and was never pushy - never made the evening about himself, while still being a force of a DJ to reckon with. We couldn't recommend him more highly. Also, the experience with VOXDJ'S couldn't be better. Mike Rylander from VOX DJs was our DJ for our wedding on 5/6/17. He was friendly, easy to communicate with, and professional. He was one of the first vendors that contacted US to meet face to face so that we were comfortable with the whole process. He is great with email and guides you through the entire process. the document he provided us had links to song suggestions via spotify which were helpful. My main concern was the setup at our venue as it had separate areas for dancing and dining, not to mention the outdoor ceremony. Mike and his team met all of our expectations and more. we had music flowing through the entire event and it was flawless! some of our guests recognized him from his tv appearances too :P Oh and Mike was a great emcee as well. Vox is incredibly professional, reliable, and fun! We used them for our wedding in September. We booked them several months in advance and they were quick to get everything confirmed for us. The DJ that we had originally selected was unable to make it to our wedding after all, but they found a replacement and upgraded us to a more experienced DJ to make up for it. Diego took great care of us at our wedding. He played pretty much every song we asked for, and by the end of the night he was doing a great job reading the crowd and playing some un-scripted music that ended up being a great addition. Because I was obsessed with the planning, I did notice the mother/son song was played during the cocktail hour in the background, and I was hoping to cut the intro out of some of the songs that didn't get cut, but I'm the only one who noticed it. Was planning a destination wedding in California and due to state restrictions and a COVID related death in our immediate family we had no choice but to cancel. Called and spoke to owner to request a refund and only offered me half of my money back. So on top of losing a family member due to covid, and having our wedding cancelled, the owner would not even let me get a word in on the phone and just decided it's not fair to his business so he's going to keep $1,000. I lost $1000 and he made $1000 for doing absolutely nothing. I hadn't even spoken to a dj about planning our music or anything of the sort so there were absolutely no services rendered. We were offered a credit for a dj in the future however we have no use for that. My photographer, venue, videographer, cake, wedding planner, and hair&makeup all made exceptions to refund us considering the circumstances. VOX DJs stood out by being the perfect example of how not to conduct business. Do not book here during Covid unless you're okay with losing money. read more

We hired DJ Joseph Barrios from VOX DJs for our wedding at Descanso Gardens and I cannot express how amazing of a job he did. He met with us two times before our big day to talk about what kind of songs we'd want played at each stage of the wedding day, and helped us organize our thoughts for a lot of our wedding timeline that we hadn't even considered before meeting with him. The day of our wedding he completely knocked it out of the park, or in our case, the garden! During our ceremony he cued the music perfectly for our processional, first kiss, and recessional walks. At our reception he kept the jams rolling and people were on the dance floor the entire evening until the very last minute rockin' out to the songs he played. He did a great job reading the audience and choosing just the right song for the mood and transitioned from song to song perfectly. He helped us make special announcements throughout the evening like what our wedding hashtag was (we didn't finalize it until the day before) and where the after party was going to be. Many of our guests told us how much they liked him and that it looked like he was having a fun time himself while he was DJing! I even gave him a list of special request songs for times when specific people were on the dancefloor that he played *exactly* at the right time. I would HIGHLY recommend DJ Joseph Barrios to anyone who wants to have an absolute blast during their event. He was professional and super fun to work with. My only regret is that we couldn't keep the party going all night long! 12/10 read more

What a GREAT team here!! Robert was super quick with responses on both email and phone, even though my event was only a month away. I used their super cool looking photo booth and a DJ. Aaron was really patient with me customizing the photo template, he incorporated our logo perfectly! On-site the team were completely professional AND fun! They came to set up before the scheduled time and just ran with it using very little direction which was super helpful! DJ Andy kept it all upbeat and awesome, he came with DJ Cam and the party was so much fun that people still wanted to keep going! I came upon this company via Yelp reviews and boy was I not disappointed! Robert C. was super fast to get back to me and offer me a reasonable quote. My only demand was that the DJ was Spanish speaking and knew Spanish music. He gave me 3 DJs to choose from. Their company website was quite impressive highlighting each of their DJs and even providing a quick video on each of them. That was super helpful in figuring out which DJ would be our best fit. DJ Diego Terry was our man. Once we chose him, Robert was quick to get us in contact and Diego was super easy to get in contact with...both via email and text. I must say I am super picky when it comes to music so I made a playlist through Spotify that I used to share with him what songs we wanted to hear. The whole experience was very easy with him and communication was never an issue. The day of the event, Diego arrived on time to set up and was ready to go before the guests arrived. Diego was super fun and high energy and everyone at the party had a great time. The dance floor was always full and people even commented on how fun he was. He even joined in on some of the group dances, which brought a more family feel to the party. Thanks Diego for making my in-laws 50th Wedding Anniversary such a success and so memorable.
