Chili Dog, it's good and vegan!
    Branden S.

Chili Dog was excellent, can't believe this is a vegan place. Ginger beer too. I sat at one of the old school Pac-Man arcade tables in the window - good memories :) Server was helpful.

As I travel through towns, I am always looking for a great vegetarian restaurant. Le Voyeur has good veggie food and a bar that has fun cocktails, beer and wine. If you are looking for fancy, this is not your spot. If you're looking for a restaurant with an artsy vibe and unique decor with great food you will love it! Yum! What a fun experience!

Date night with baby daddy. This place is everything I love about Olympia. It is art from people with vision, as opposed to people with just money and time. Vegan comfort food includes everything I wish I could eat at a bar. I missed lunch but still couldn't finish my dinner there. It was delicious. The restaurant area in front is that Oly retro diner experience. The bar is in the back. It is kind of a crescent walkway. The service was great. You order and pick up at the counter. It was quiet on a Thursday night. I would love to take my kids to one of their events. It is like slam poetry in a vegan joint. But with interesting people.

This spot is so cool! We came as a party of seven on Saturday night at 6:00 PM and were able to find seats immediately. It was pretty empty, but I would assume because the weather was so nice outside on this occasion! Coming in, we enjoyed the cool atmosphere-both in regards to temperature and the local art on the walls (and of course, Star Wars playing on an old VHS TV). Their bathrooms are literally covered in graffiti-it looks cool (although it would be nice to have an uncovered mirror! I want to do a tooth check every now and then.) All of their foods are vegan. We liked the sound of everything on the menu, and seeing all of the food our party have, I don't think there was any wrong decisions. I ordered two things: The Animal Burger-I felt like an animal eating this. It was so sloppy and good. It was falling apart a lot but the flavors were there. I enjoyed this pure indulgence. The Curry Fries-I ordered a basket for the table to enjoy. The cut of these fries were thick, and the sauce was wonderful. It came with jalapeños on the top. As a table, we shared both the BBQ and the Buffalo wings. We loved whatever the wings were made of-their flavors were excellent. There are a few things I think they could change though to improve their service. 1. Their wings are great, but the skewers are too small and subtle. They were hard to see because of the delicious sauce surrounding them, and they don't look like traditional skewers. I wish they could indicate what they look like, or change this about their wings. I could easily see someone eating this on accident. It would be easy to have someone either make a piece of art mentioning this, I just want them to call this out BEFORE. 2. It costs $1.00 for a single order of a side sauce. A dollar for a side sauce feels like too much. This is the most I have ever paid for a side of hot sauce and ranch (those usually are free or at most $0.50), so I did feel overcharged here. Their only free condiments were ketchup and Tabasco. 3. Mirrors in the bathrooms-these are essential for checking ourselves. I would change literally only this in the bathrooms. 4. For the prices we paid, we had to bus our own table and dishes. This is totally fine to have us do, but I think that their food prices should have been somewhat lower. I understand that they are not serving traditional meat and the substitutes can be differently priced, but I think calling this out is fair. Their flavors were undeniably solid and for sure 5/5. While they should improve some things, I enjoyed my time here and I would come back.

Super great little glory hole in the wall. Killer vegan food at a reasonable price. Loose vibe and stiff drinks. Just the way I like.

It did not disappoint! I tried the Norma sandwich which was delicious. The tofu skin patty was unlike any other faux chicken I've had and so good! And because I'm always on the search for great vegan mac and cheese I had that as my side. Absolutely delicious! Very creamy. Portions are large here so I brought some of the mac home and am looking forward to having it for lunch tomorrow. My husband tried the dip sandwich with a side of the mashed potatoes and gravy and ate every last bit. He loved it. It's a very cute cafe on the corner with friendly staff. I witnessed a man in need come in and take advantage of the program they have where you can buy a meal for a hungry person to come in in the future and have a free meal. Next best was the bread - it was perfectly soft inside with a crispy crust. Between how oily the dish was and my nose running from the increased spice as I continued eating, I wouldn't return for this dish. The eggs weren't noticeable in appearance or taste- I had to search for them. The "creamy grits" were creamy, but the black pepper taste was STRONG. Definitely ordered the side for the "creamy" factor, hoping when the server said harissa in the eggs would have a mild spice, that the grits would calm my mouth. The amount of pepper made this unsuccessful. But if you like black pepper a lot then you'll enjoy them. My son enjoyed the beignet's. The server was also the host and he was kind. It was easy to get his attention when needed. I didn't see anyone with a grin on their face after taking bites of their food. I looked around quite a bit out of curiosity. So for ambiance, kind and prompt service, and the possibilities of the menu I gave it 4 stars. We only tried the few things I mentioned. I did also appreciate the bottle of water ready on every table. Note that there is no kids menu and it's mostly table seating. So maybe try on your own or with other adults, and leave the kids at home?

We started with the patatas bravas, gambas pil pil (butter garlic shrimp), oysters (both raw and cooked), and a hummus platter, and everything was excellent. The true standout, however, was the smoked salmon Alfredo--an absolutely incredible dish and one of the best pastas I've had in a long time. We added some chopped jalapeños for extra heat, but honestly, it was fantastic even on its own. The dessert was equally impressive, with a cake that was incredibly moist and the perfect way to end the meal. The wine selection deserves special mention as well. They offer a great variety of Spanish wines that pair beautifully with the menu. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. The atmosphere is one of Octapas Café's biggest strengths. The restaurant features a beautiful, spacious dining room, plenty of outdoor seating, and even a private event space for larger gatherings and celebrations. Whether you're stopping by for tapas, seafood, pasta, or wine, Octapas Café delivers a memorable experience from start to finish.

We felt like an intrusion to tasks she could've worked on after seating us. We asked to sit on the patio in the sun - she seemed annoyed by this but acquiesced. She was pleasant and sat us in the sunshine on the patio. I was sad to see so few patrons. I will review the best part first: THE COCKTAILS: The spirits and craft cocktail selection was huge / the beer & wine not so much. My Old Fashioned was perfect! Food: Seafood Rosé Pasta (bay scallops, shrimp, northwest manila clams, rosé prosecco cream sauce, grilled bread) -- inconsistent cook on the different seafoods & the sauce was meh. Not worth $42.00 Grilled Romaine Salad (white balsamic bleu cheese dressing, gorgonzola, cherry tomatoes, aleppo toasted hazelnuts) -- plenty of romaine, could've been grilled longer / not much quantity of tomatoes or toasted hazelnuts -- basically a "side salad" for $15.00 Lobster Bisque (house smoked tomatoes, roasted red pepper, cream, butter poached langoustine lobster) -- tasted more like roasted tomato / red pepper soup (no lobster or seafood flavors) - there were 4 small pieces of poached?? langoustine lobster on top - I question poached because the pieces definitely had a bite to them. Worth $15.00 -- no. Due to reviews we had the Baklava Crumble (pistachios, honey, vanilla ice cream) -- basically cut up (very chewy, not crispy) baklava tossed over ice cream for $14.00 -- maybe a bad night for this dessert? We like to support small Olympia businesses and will go back for cocktails but the food costs are too high - we don't mind high costs IF we come away satisfied - unfortunately the food didn't measure up to the cost. As we drove away, we saw the "Budd Bay Cafe" was very busy - I think next time we'll have cocktails at Cynara, then cross the street for food and wine. We were intrigued with the "Clam Chowder Entrée" which is served à la minute (Washington manila clams, bacon, cream, celery, roasted potatoes, grilled bread) -- is it a deconstructed chowder?? $33.00 Sorry no pics.
