Last night my girlfriend, best friend and I walked in. She politely asked if there was any music being played in the back that evening. Bartenders response. " Does it look like there's people waiting for a show? Do you see anyone in the back? Can't you tell there's people leaving out front? " Then he sneered at her and went about his business. Where I then approached the bar after seeing this and said he didn't have to be a smart ass to her. He told me " I don't have to be so sensitive ". .... I don't think he was in touch with the gravity of the situation and the sincerity of the lesson needed to clean up an attitude that bad. Needless to say that bartender and your establishment made a permanent enemy. If you were worth anything Id get some kind of apology. But you're not. It showed in the employees you hire and what's expected of them. read more

Le Voyeur is like an abusive lover. You know you love them but when you go back they always treat you wrong. Don't misunderstand, the food is delicious and the service is better than before but you still leave smelling like you just took a bath in a frier and the service is still pretty slow. read more

Seriously the worst customer service you could imagine. They do make good food, but since I leave pissed off after every time I've tried their food, I can't go back. Also their menu prices online are several dollars less than what they actually charge you, and of course they don't care if you point it out. Here's the thing: I really, really, really like the food here! I like everything I've eaten (garlic fries, vegan sandwiches, salads, hummus plate, the thai/peanut dishes). I've been here many times, and as a long-time vegan, this is about as good as it gets in the Oly area. Everything on their (rather extensive) menu can be made either vegan or non-vegan, and the stuff is pretty good. A little greasy, but when you're craving good bar food, it hits the spot. Grungy/punk, but casual and comfortable. Tried-and-true, I'll keep going back on a rainy day (the southwest best and homemade soup are killer). I guess I should note that if you're looking for great service, you won't likely find it here. Unlike others that have posted reviews, I've never experienced any blatant disrespect from the staff, but they are definitely not cheery and eager to serve. Have gone here a couple times for lunch on Saturday's and both times there were no customers which seems weird in a busy downtown at lunch. Maybe because it's more of a bar? I order the food to go, because it is SO GOOD but if I eat there I smell like I took a dive in the frier and the service is really bad. But the food is SO GOOD. Get it to go. The super salad has so many yummy items, and the dressings are made from scratch - poppy seed is my absolute fav. The WORST service in the known galaxy. Went there with a buddy who flew in from North Carolina to attend the Vomedy comedy show. Arrogant, self-absorbed hipster staff who made it a point to ignore patrons while dragging their feet, disappearing for several minutes at a time and staring at their smart phones. The M.C.'s for Vomedy were, for lack of a better description, 'haters'. Their jokes weren't AT ALL funny and they were appallingly smug/condescending to the audience and performers. Stopped in Olympia for one night to check out the city and ate here for a late dinner. WOW the tempeh avocado melt was out of this world. Not to mention the atmosphere was really bohemian and down to earth. After eating we meandered to the back and listened to some live music and had a drink. Loved it. read more

Le Voyeur is neat, but confusing as to what the protocol is there. You walk in and it feels more like a coffee shop rather than a restaurant. That is, the counter to order food or get the attention of someone is divided by an odd wall, which leaves you guessing as to where to stand to order food or even get someone's attention. Oddly, you see the kitchen and cook right away, but in my experience they do not look at you...so who do you ask for service? Go to the other side, where the beer taps are. There is typically someone over there that is the actual wait staff, let them know you are there and have a seat. I don't think it is their fault so much as just an odd set up building wise. The beer is good, the food is kind of like Darby's in that there are many options for meat/veg/vegan eaters, but it is short order stuff. It is a little greesey, but not bad food by far. Try their french fries. Sounds weird, but they season them really well. Their hummus is decent. The Ruben is good and so is the eggplant. The atmosphere feel like that of an odd coffee shop. You will see what I mean when you go, because it is a must do if you are in Olympia. read more

Cheap, strong drinks. Interesting. The food is beyond tolerable but doesn't really know its place, being neither worth going there without drinking nor appropriate bar food. The staff are great. Our go-to vegan spot in Olympia was closed and "Yelped" our way to Le Voyeur for an early dinner. Curb appeal and first impressions inside this restaurant leave a lot to be desired. Others have already talked about the "dirty" appearance so I'll stipulate that that is true however, it could be more of a "grunge/hipster" look that they're going for. I don't know but whatever, it still comes off as looking less than clean. Once we got past all that, we actually liked the potato/lemon/dill soup starter a lot. It went very well with the Anderson Valley IPA and so we moved on to a Noodle Salad and Stuffed Avocado entrees. For vegan food, they were ...OK. The Noodle Salad was a homogenized concoction of grilled tofu, noodles, broccoli, carrots, and cabbage with peanut sauce, cilantro, basil and lime. That's a lot of competing flavors and while interesting, not memorable. The Stuffed Avocado was really stuffed. Rice, beans, grilled peppers & onions with cilantro and lime served with chips and salsa. It was heavy. So Le Voyeur gets a 2+ or 3- rating and maybe another chance. Maybe. read more

The food is good. I mean, not gourmet just hearty and well...good. Really f*&^ing good if you've been drinking. But It all has a similar taste...the Voyeur taste. And I never ever go there if I'm in a rush (accept maybe for lunch). Drinks depend on the bartender. I've gotten well mixed, poorly mixed, strong and weak. Heard bad music, music that I've liked and music that I've loved. The staff: not going to bend over backwards to make you happy. Oh well, why should they? I have traveled to a number of different cities in North America. This place has one of the best vegetarian reubens across the country, and their chicken fried tofu is awesome! This place imo is the place to go to eat in olympia, the people who work here are pretty awesome, the beer is definitely good, the food is awesome, and everytime I go here and eat I leave happy. Totally quirky little restaurant and bar, with vegetarian and meat-eatin' options aplenty. Good, filling portions and excellent fries, in a super casual, creative atmosphere. I usually stop here when I travel up to Oly from Portland. There are a lot of vegan options and I like the atmosphere. The food is yummy and not too expensive (but a little steep). The portions are big and the fires are pretty damn tasty. The food usually takes awhile to come but this can be a good things as it gives you time to talk to friends or read a decent book. read more

I had high expectations when i went to this place because of the reviews I'd read. Unfortunately our waiter was off... (literally super weird and didn't really address us in a friendly manner) and our food, which took a long time, was greasy and overcooked. My date had the pasta, and it looked pretty good, but I had a tofu fried steak and it almost tasted like shake and bake.. Played here on tour once. The food was great and I have no recollection at all what it was. I totally met this person I had known for a few months on the other side of the country (i.e. in Boston) here -- she was sitting across from me at a table of random band-members and stuff. So weird! The whole front room had a great, beat down and lived in feel. I don't think they serve outdoors, but there were seats and tables out there where two guys were playing chess. Beer selection is this cool assortment of strange microbrews that all have mountainous or Scandanavian branding themes. The back room for music is a rad black box do-or-die kind of garage atmosphere and was a blast to play in. No door charge which meant we passed the hat around to a bunch of punx and made like $20 to share with the other band. Bonus: huge fight on the sidewalk after these drunk kids knocked over this other drunk kid's bike. When went outside to see what the deal was, the one kid had already taken his shirt off and cops had arrived. Visit Le Voyeur! read more

i tried to like it, i gave it a chance, and then another... waiting almost an hour for my food seems a bit stupid, and sitting and watching one person prep, and cook the meals for everyone else before me, one at a time, was almost torture... the food was ok... not worth waiting that long for. The service in general was lame all three times i went in there. Like they're too cool for it. Like they gave two shits about it. I felt upset at myself that i didn't learn the first or second times.
