Cute thematic interior and fast friendly service. Portions were generous and the food was tasty. Burgers seemed expensive compared to the Midwest and both of our burger buns did not hold together after the first bite- my bun seemed dry - definitely not fresh and not what you should expect at this price point. Many vegetarian options and even their own menu

    Very bland ribs

The staff was great, very attentive and helpful, but unfortunately the food was not. Everything tasted very bland, to the point where it felt like there wasn't even salt in the food. The fries were clumped together, and the ribs only had sauce on the ends. To be honest, we stopped eating, paid for our meal, and went somewhere else to find food. We really wanted to like it, but it ended up feeling like a waste.

In a random search for some lunch I ended up coming across Cascadia Grill and I'm so glad. I'm sure I've drove past several times but never really noticed it. Coming in it's giving a West coast Cracker Barrel vibe with assorted photos, pine trees, mountains and of course big foot. Cascadia had a great variety of food, small shareable plates and great portions for the price. The service was great drinks came out fairly quick, was offered water and to look at the menu right after the waitress greeted and sat me down. I was surprised at this small but great place and can't wait to go again.

The food is delicious and generously portioned. Service is prompt, and drinks are strong. The ambiance is decent, though I find the tables a bit too close together, especially with the bright lighting. This place is better suited for family gatherings

We stopped by Cascadia Grill on our way back to Seattle from Portland. We were just looking for a place to eat and were expecting typical diner food... and so we were pleasantly surprised when the food came out and the plating was nice and the food was delicious. We got the following for sharing and enjoyed them all: Crispy Trout Salad, The One and Only Garlic Steak, and Southern Fried Pork Chops The interiors have so much character, check out their restrooms! The service was good too.

This was our first time here and it won't be our last! It was phenomenal! The food, the atmosphere, tge service all were A+++! The portions are HUGE! I worked on my Polynesian Steak sub over three meals and only ate maybe 10% of the fries and had to give them away! So delicious! Artichoke dip and raspberry white chocolate cheesecake was delicious too! Definitely get reservations if you can! We walked up and were lucky that the "cold drafty table" that they leave unsat for that reason was open for us! We were forewarned so that was really appreciated! We were out to see a play at the State theater just a couple blocks up the road so didn't have to move the car either as parking is difficult to find easily! Can't wait to go back!

Fun place, friendly staff and server. We were sat in a corner, our table was pretty wobbly but we enjoyed looking at all the decor. The menu had some nice options, I got the one and only garlic steak and my daughter got the blackened chicken tortellini both were good sized portions and tasty enough. My daughter is moving to the area soon so I can see us coming back here again to try other things such as the burger the people next to us got. It looked delicious!

Such a great place. Love the music and the decor. The staff are super friendly, the service is fast and the food is really really good. They have an extensive menu, many options, and they all looked good. I can definitely see this as a regular spot when in town. The vibe is very welcoming and familiar. Really just a great place to hang out with friends, family, or solo and enjoy some good food & drink. I will definitely be back.

Stopped by for lunch with my colleagues on a Tuesday and they had not a single table occupied. We were promptly seated and placed out orders. Some of us ordered their salad while some thier poutine while a few others ordered their steak burger and spicy chicken burger. It took them forever to bring the food out. After such a long wait, the food was cold and dint taste freshly made at all. The place has nice character but due to poor service, quality of food I will not recommend this place. Maybe they had a bad day - not sure but my experience wasnt pleasant at all.

Deep-fried pork chop. This was criminally bland.

It has been years since I've sent food back at a restaurant, but Cascadia Grill broke that streak. I had some battered pork chops with gravy and house cut fries. The chops were the most horrifically boring things I have eaten at a restaurant in memory. The fries on top of the pile were good, but underneath was what could best be described as potato confetti, obviously the dredge from the bottom of the fry basket. The server asked how everything was before I'd had a bite, so I said it was fine, and that was the last we saw of her until she showed up at the end and realized I'd only taken two bites of a chop and eaten a few fries. She did ask if I wanted something else, but that was thirty minutes after initially ordering, so no. She did take the food off the bill and toss it, of course, but there was no apology or acknowledgement other than informing me no one else had ever complained and that it was "weird" I found the food intensely boring. My wife had a salmon special, which she liked okay but wasn't worth nearly $50 by any stretch. Server said she hoped we'd give them another chance sometime, and I said I would, but on further reflection this is another restaurant that proves that the citizens of Olympia love bland food for some reason that continues to baffle me. Add to that crummy service, and no, I won't be back.

    Garlic Steak 4/5 stars
    Chris C.

Came here based on all the positive reviews and it did not disappoint. Of course I had to go with the garlic flank steak (4/5 stars) and my girl ordered the soup and salad (5/5 stars). We also ordered the spinach and artichoke dip (5/5 stars.... So good) The only part of the of the garlic flank steak meal I didn't care for were the crispy potatoes. They came out undercooked for my taste. However, the steak came out a perfect medium rare as ordered. The spinach and artichoke dip is a MUST!!! Service was great and super friendly. Will come back for another date night!

This place is a cozy slice of heaven. They have a separate completely vegetarian menu, nostalgic music and decor. I was in town traveling on my own having never been in Olympia before and felt so welcome here, they are the definition of service. Loved my Po'boy and salad, a little pricy but 100% worth it. Reminded me of recipe I used to make from Vegan With a Vengeance, I wonder if chef is a fan! It's so great to have an omni-chef who knows how to make vegan food, he mentioned he used to be vegan.

    Yuki waiting for a table.

The restaurant has a warm, inviting feel without being overly formal. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. I started the evening with an Old Fashioned, and it was excellent smooth, well-balanced, and a perfect way to kick off the meal. For dinner, we had the fresh fish and potato croquettes. The fish was incredibly fresh, cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. You can definitely tell they use high-quality ingredients. The potato croquettes were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and paired wonderfully with the meal. What I appreciated most was that we never felt rushed. We were able to sit back, enjoy our food and drinks, and take in the atmosphere. There was a complimentary amuse bouche, small root vegetable soup with a crunchy sunchoke chip- flavorful and nice start to the meal. From there we ordered: - hamachi crudo - light, fresh, flavorful - gambas - butterfly grilled and served on a yummy sauce that was a little salty in its own but good to dip bread in - salad - shareable portion and liked the fresh herbs - steak frites - came with a good portion of skirt steak and fries, but was surprised by the cook on the steak- it was well done. The meat was chewy although not tough so did still make a dent in the entree, and was pretty heavily doused in sauce. Fries were fine. Would likely try something else next time - creme brulee - solid execution, would order again - chocolate mousse- ok, was on the sweeter side Overall would return for drinks and apps if in the neighborhood.

On that night the Grand Bistro proved itself welcoming and satisfying. We returned this Christmas Eve with my aunt (who has memory problems) and my 102 year-old grandmother and found the experience even more uplifting. Throughout, the service was attentive, patient, and kind. (I think his name was Ryan!) The food - yes, the menu is smaller than before, and these are also different times - was terrific. We began with the beet and house salads, which gently anticipated the entrées. (We also had the bread service, which has earned growls in other reviews. Three notes on this. First of all, the service costs $9. Second, Sea Wolf Bakery - which supplies the bread - charges $6 retail for a small baguette, not including the whipped crème fraîche butter and garlic confit that the restaurant provides. This is not an agonizing mark-up. Consider that the first red wine on Canlis' wine list costs $40-50 retail but $130 to drink at the restaurant! Third, the bread is actually tasty - like French bread is supposed to taste but rarely does in the U.S.) I ordered a Last Word cocktail (the Grand Bistro is the only restaurant that I've seen in months with Green Chartreuse on hand) which shone bright; two others at my table had a non-alcoholic sparkling wine that could have fooled me. My main course was the cod special: the fish was cooked just right and the accompaniments - bok choy and a purée - were glorious. My aunt and grandmother ordered the mussels - the one they let me sample made me wish they had offered more! My wife's beef bourguignon was comforting and robust - exactly what you would hope for at a place like this. And then there was dessert! The sticky pudding was strong, the pot de crème wonderfully velvet (with a delicious cookie atop it), and the special foie gras ice cream an absolute show-stopper. Meanwhile, the atmosphere was lovely. We arrived just as the sun was setting over Lake Washington and got the best of the view. The place is bustling but mellow - not as harsh as a Parisian bistro can be. My wife asked me permission to leave a very large tip - she's never done that before. I said yes. Nous reviendrons!

Regarding the food: the boeuf sauce is a light red, whereas with the previous chef it was a thicker, darker red. It seems to contain too much flour, has an overpowering bacon aroma, and the overall taste is just average. The chicken now comes pre-cut; we preferred the previous style where we cut it ourselves, as it stayed juicier. The new chef is also quite skimpy with the sauce, which is disappointing. And the sorbet is our sugar overpowering the fruit and not as "icey" as I wanted. On a positive note, the crudo was generous and had plenty of fish.
