VP Salon saved me! Teresa gave me one of the best haircuts I have had in Austin. My hair was cut to shreds by a bad stylist and Teresa worked with me to get it as "normal" as possible. Found out that Kim isn't the owner, she just acts like it. :) I get charged $15 for my haircut which is inexpensive given the quality so I always leave a $5 tip. She trims my beard and 'stach along with the cut. And like Annie, Kim is very precise in her cutting. read more

The owner called and offered a refund and to redo my girl friend's hair by giving her an all over color. When my friend went by the owner then refused to give a full refund because she didn't complain about the $35 trim she received and then apparently the offer to do an all over color was off the table, and she offered to apply toner instead. I guess some offer is better than no offer. However, toner...? She could have gone to Sally's and bought toner and applied it herself. Why didn't Toni, the stylist who did the horrible job, apply toner in the first place when he saw the orange/yellow mess? And why would she have complained about the trim? Anyone can do a trim, it wasn't like an actual cut. So in the end she just took back the money the owner was willing to refund and left. She won't be going back for them to "correct" it by applying toner. Bad ethics. Bad business. read more

I have been going here for about 15 years since their first location in Round Rock. Then I followed them to Pflugerville and now to the present Parmer location. I think that Theresa, the owner, gives an AMAZZZZZING haircut. I adore to watch her work, especially cutting men's hair. My daughter who is super picky with her beauteous locks will only trust Theresa with hers. Theresa really cares about her clients. And truly wants each person to have a quality experience there. I go to Annie for great manicures and pedicures. I have seen Kim give some amazing haircuts and styles, too. And Kim is a very kind person. I go to Annie for great manicures and pedicures. Don't go here. I asked for Theresa after reading the reviews about her. After my last hair cut in my country of origin, my sister took pictures of my hair cut from different angles. I took the pictures with me to show the stylist. She ignored them completely and did what she wanted to do. At first I thought I liked it but after a few weeks my hair was completely uncontrollable (I have a lot of volume). So I went back a few weeks after the initial hair cut and Theresa was in a very bad mood and did not care much about what I wanted. I don't know about the rest of the staff but I do not recommend her. read more

I have gotten my hair cut here since I was a freshman in high school! It's been almost 7 years since then and now I'm about to graduate college and I still only get my hair cut by Kim here!! She's my favorite. She has my name memorized and always remembers what's happening in my life. She so sweet and gives an amazing scalp massage when you get your hair washed. I was fortunate enough after years and years with random people cutting my hair (walk in chains) to finally find Annie (Chau). 10 years later I know I can always count on her to do a fantastic job. I have blonde fine hair which shows EVERY imperfection and detail and she ALWAYS does a great job! The scalp massage with the shampoo alone in my opinion is PRICELESS! After reading fellow "yelpers" reviews of VP Salon, I decided to call to see if I could get my hair colored on July 12th. I had an early morning flight the following day. Although Annie was scheduled with a long appointment, she was kind enough to get me in later that afternoon. I honestly felt bad for her to stay so long to work on me, since the other stylists began leaving. But, I will give Annie 5 stars for her dedication to her customers, making sure that the style you have is what you want, and that she doesn't rush her clients. We shared a nice conversation and you can see what a nice person she truly is. I walked out of the salon happy with the service and attention that she provided. We have been going to VP Salon to Theresa for at least 7 years now. It's hard to find a hair stylist that gets it right. Theresa along with Annie and Kim do an excellent job. They are also specialists in the Japanese hair straightening system and literally gave my daughter's straw hair new life five years ago. Hair is so important to teenage girls and Ashley's hair transformation was miraculous. Theresa is fabulous! She really cares about her clients!!! I hope people go and see for themselves. I followed Toni here from another salon. He always does a great job on my hair. I have fine, thin, greying hair, and he does color and a cut each time I go in. He uses a darker color on my roots (to cover the grey), and then gives me highlights as well. The color always looks beautiful. When I first started seeing him, it was only for cuts. He washes and blow dries my hair first, and then cuts it. I sometimes bring pictures, and sometimes not. I had to get used to this technique of drying my hair first, but I have to say that I love it, because once it is cut - it looks exactly how I want it. He's not one to comb up all your hair to make sure everything is straight - he just starts cutting - more like sculpting - and I've never been disappointed in the results. I have gotten many compliments on both my color and cut. read more

I called on a Saturday afternoon and was fortunate to get an appointment within the hour. The front desk attendant was so helpful and talked to me for a long time. He told me about great places to go in the area and we exchanged laughs, he offered me water and coffee. I can go on and on about my entire haircut, from start to finish. Here it is in short: 1. They say the third time is a charm. Well, Theresa is! After moving here, the first 2 stylists I went to ruined my long hair by over-processing my highlights. I was recommended to see Theresa and she saved me from having to chop off my hair. She was very thorough in explaining that it would take a while for my hair to get back to a healthy condition, and told me what I needed to do. I listened to her great advice--used the hair products she suggested and came in between coloring for deep conditioning treatments. She saved my sanity and my hair. Theresa takes extra care with my hair and is a perfectionist, making sure every piece is cut, colored/highlighted, and styled right. She is really good at styling men's hair --my husband has started having her cut his too. I highly recommend her! read more

I would give the service (haircut etc.) a five star, but one star for scheduling. I always ask for Annie and she never disappoint me. I am always happy with how the haircut turned out. But my suggestion is not to schedule towards the end of the day. It is almost guaranteed that Annie is an hour behind schedule and I am not really happy wasting my time here waiting. read more

I chose Annie based on the favorable Yelp reviews. I was shocked to meet a young Asian lady, not someone I would choose to cut my very fine fly-away blond hair. But, she seemed very sweet and I thought I had successfully conveyed what I wanted to her. She did well, except to using a razor which I had told her specifically NOT to use because it does not work well with my hair. She responded..."only a little bit" I decided to give her another try to establish better communication, this time a cut and highlights. Razor, again! This time there was no doubt of a misunderstanding...She was insistent on doing it her way. It cost $35 more than she had quoted me, and she argued with me about it. The owner stepped in and gave me a $35 gift certificate for the "next time". At that point, I hated the whole experience, but the owner really was gracious. The color was dark, but I thought I could live with it for winter....Now, however, only 9 days later, my color is washed out. I am most unhappy and do not recommend Annie. I wonder whether the positive reviews were written by her friends. read more

Worst haircut of my flipping life! I went in with long layered hair and side swept bangs, and came out with hair that barely hit my shoulders and no layers whatsoever! Oh and my favorite part is that my bangs are so short now that I have to pin them back because otherwise they will stick straight up. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! I love love love this salon! Annie is the one of the sweetest people I've ever met and she's also a very good hairstylist. She really listens to me when I tell her what I want and she hits the nail on the head every time. I also really like Theresa, I've only had my hair done by her once, but she did a wonderful job. I would strongly recommend these two stylist to anyone and I do really try to push my friends to go see them cause they're awesome:) I do have to say that I've had 2 bad experiences with this salon before-one I asked a male stylist to do some highlights on me (I don't remember his name), I asked for golden blond and got platinum blond instead..not cute! Then recently I went in for a trim and to just get some more shape to my hair, I told the stylist that I wanted the smallest, itty-bittiest trim off the length because I'm very attached to my hair. She spun me around and did her thing and when she turned me back towards the mirror, 4 to 5 inches of my hair was gone! I've been growing out my hair for a really long time and was very upset. I feel like maybe there was a language barrier between us because she wasn't speaking very much. So my advice to anyone is to get Annie or Theresa to do your hair! My hair is difficult to work with and takes color differently than expected and she is the only one who could get my color just like I requested. I never understood how people could fall in love with a hair dresser until today. Jenny at the parmer location did an amazing job on my hair. She was able to keep a fun conversation going the entire time, show me three different hairstyles to do, and give me tons of haircare advice. i was with my stylist for 10 years before she moved out of town. that started me on the hunt for a new stylist who could do a good job on japanese hair straightening. i search yelp and found this salon was near my house and had great reviews. i scheduled a consultation with annie who advised they did the liscio system of hair straightening. my previous stylist had done the yuko system of straightening. both yuko and liscio are similar japanese hair straightening products, with liscio having slightly more versatility. i liked the ambience of the salon, the price quote, and annie's attitude and scheduled an appt for the actual straightening using the liscio system for two weeks later. i have a lot of hair and the process took about 5.5 hours. another stylist helped out to make it go faster, so many times, i had four hands working my hair! everyone at the salon was very professional and nice and the end product was fantastic. since i was at the salon for such a long time, i saw many other customers come in and out. every single customer was a regular and the staff greeted each one of them on a first name basis. they all knew each other and it was reassuring to see many people who are obviously happy with the salon enough to regularly come back. i know i have found my new salon so i'll be a regular too! read more
