They dropped a couple of services during Covid which they didn't bring back: no more candy jar, drink selection is minimal and the TV at the bar is rarely used. I brought my toddler here after my friend recommended the Arcadia location but this one was closer. Good thing his hair grows quick because they did an awful job. I felt rushed upon entering and although online they had many times available the one person available said he only had time for cut not a fade because he had an appointment. That was perfect for me because I only wanted a bang trim and to trim around my kid's ears. There are chunks missing, the back is uneven and it is so many different lengths not even hair gel makes it look decent. Won't be going back and won't be recommending them either. read more

Great experience at this barber. I'm in town from Sierra Vista and looking semi-homeless. Got to walk in and sit down in about 20-30 minutes, which is fantastic because everyone is booked out. I'm a black male. I say that because idk if they know how to cut our type of hair. I went here for a head shave and beard line up. Someone else mentioned it but I was cut by the bald barber from Uzbekistan. He not only cut my beard it's uneven, then he tried to pat it down so I wouldn't notice it. On top of that my line up is terrible. It looks like he did nothing then he charged me $75.00, I just left. I didn't want to say he messed up then he tries to fix it and make it worse. I tried this place out as I live upstairs. I went just for a shave. They were courteous and respectful. The atmosphere was pretty cool. Unfortunately, the shave was nothing special to validate the pricing. I was charged $45.60 bucks for just a neck shave!!! This is not your typical barbershop where you talk it up with your barbers. went in for a skin taper and got a fade which wasn't even good

decided to give this place a 2nd try since I really needed a haircut. First time they didn't do a very good job, 2nd time the barber really messed up my hair. I asked for undercut on both sides, which helps with my thinning hair, went home took a shower and my hair looked lop sides. One side was longer than the other. It was really bad, need to go back to have them fix it. If they can. I'm afraid I'll have to shave off my hair. #update: I went back the next day and they could not fix it. I've been going to this barbershop for 2 years. I've loved the cuts I've received from most of their barbers. But today, I received the worst haircut in five years. The bald barber from Uzbekistan completely ignored what I asked for: a low taper up the sides, straight across the neck, and an inch off the top. I even showed him a picture of the style of cut I wanted, which he apparently ignored as well. I look like I'm entering freaking boot camp. When he first touched his clippers to my head, they pulled at my scalp. I told him to leave enough on top so I could style it, but there is barely an inch there. He also didn't use shaving cream and a straight razor that I had been accustomed to at V's. I told him I was studying journalism in college and he began to ask invasive political questions. Needless to say, I'll be wearing a hat for the next two weeks, (or possibly a month) so I can get cut by a barber who listens to their customers. I'm truly questioning whether I should ask for a refund because what this barber did to my hair was not any form of service. TL;DR I paid $30 to feel like I had a haircut at SportsClips with an amateur barber. V's is a great barbershop but you should avoid this barber. If I were V's, I would fire him to protect their reputation. read more

My barber Yuri moved shops and naturally I did too. This is an awesome upgrade. 2 dollar beers while I wait and the location is super easy to access with the parking garage. Lots of TV's to watch the game and they even have cigars if you're interested (which I am) It's not easy switching shops, especially one that I've gone two for so long, but this shop and all the barbers made it very easy. I'm a little behind on posting but this place was a pleasant surprise as I've been to Cityscape plenty of times and did not know a barbershop was there. Igor and his crew gave me a good lesson in beard-anomics! (Yes I made up that word!) I shave my head but I've grown my beard out and it's good to leave it to the pros to style it. Pedro did a great job shaping it. Additionally, they have a bar in there so you can have a drink and chill out while you're waiting. Great staff, great service, and a good looking beard. This V's is a decent barbershop, but not exactly what I was expecting. The V's chain was recommended to me by a friend and this location is on my way home from work, so I made an appointment last Friday. After reading through the V's website, I was really looking forward to a traditional, upscale barbershop experience, but the vibe here is much more everyday neighborhood barbershop like what you'd find in a strip mall around the corner from your house. Definitely better than a Great Clips, but not the kind of place you go before a big event. That isn't a bad thing, and it may be exactly what they are going for. The staff was engaging, very nice, and attentive. The feel of the place just wasn't what I was expecting. I was definitely overdressed in my polo shirt tucked into a pair of slacks. I was hoping that I might be able to get my shoes shined while I waited, but despite having a station for it, there wasn't anyone manning it. When they called me back, the gentleman at the desk had to explain to one of the walk-ins that I had an appointment which seemed to take the guy by surprise. Out of the five people waiting, I was the only one with an appointment. The result of this was that the whole environment seemed rushed. I had Ed and I can say that he has some serious talent for cutting hair. I'd recommend him for sure. He's from New York and both talks fast and has that New York Accent which was kind of fun but took a little while for my ears to adjust to. My scale for haircuts out of 5 is this: 1: The kind of haircut your mom used to give you that almost always turned into a buzz cut because she made a mistake. 2: Great Clips or Fantastic Sams cut by number style where they give you two guard length numbers, one for the sides and one for the top. It's always the same, and never quite right, but not bad enough to cut all your hair off. 3: An average haircut that is alright, but no one is going to be noticing it and giving you compliments. 4: A really good haircut that you can enjoy and you will want to go out and show off. 5: The kind of haircut you only get from a barber that you've been going to for years that knows your hair better than you do. He knows all the curly spots and how to contour your hair to make them manageable. People notice a 5 haircut and start asking you where you get it done because they want it too. I think on an average day, Ed will consistently turn out 4's. Unfortunately, He seemed rushed and under pressure. He started cutting before really getting a feel for my hair or finding where it parts best so now my part is either not straight, or I end up with a bunch of short hairs on the top and a few long hairs on the bottom. When making an appointment, you book a 30-minute slot, they'll hold it for 7, so I think they probably average 23 minutes a person. Ed finished my hair in around 10 and it was definitely a 3 hair cut, but given how quickly he worked, he's got some impressive skill. I didn't have my glasses on, so I started getting worried when he was blazing away with his scissors and clippers and was happily surprised when I put my glasses back on to see. My neckline was well cut and the top looked good, all be it shorter than I wanted. He put some product in but didn't really style it, so it looked pretty sloppy as I was leaving. Had Ed been able to take a full 23 or 30 minutes on my hair, I have no doubt it would have been a 4, but these guys seem to be under a lot of pressure to turn over customers quickly. That's as much the fault of all the people showing up without appointments and wanting fast service as it is the shop's. I will give these guys another go in three weeks when I need another haircut. It is possible that they were just having an abnormally busy Friday evening and weren't use to it. I'll update this review when I go again. If it's the same experience, I'll try somewhere else. If it's better I'll give them an extra start or two. Igor: You seem to be really good about responding to feedback, so just as a side note, you should consider investing in some belts for your staff. It seemed like they all struggled with their pants falling down. It looked difficult for them to cut hair when they needed a free hand every two minutes to pull up their pants. read more

Walked in. Sat down at the bar. Thought it was cool because there is a bar in a barbershop. Waited for 5 minutes. I saw 4 people working there. I saw two people getting a haircut. Logically, if there's 4 employees and 2 people getting a haircut - I thought the wait shouldn't be to long. Waited 5 more minutes. No employee greeted me or asked for help. 1 client left. Now there's 3 employees standing around while 1 is working. I'm thinking ok great here we go. I'm one person. There's 3 employees free. Here we go. 5 more minutes pass by. No one has greeted me or asked if I needed a haircut. The guys who worked there seem nice. They were joking around. I thought the atmosphere was great. I didn't mind , at all, them joking around. But it seemed like the employees were more interested in talking to each other than making money. I left after spending 15 minutes at the bar. If I am not helped or greeted within 15 minutes of entering a business, I walk out of that business. PS - The employees were aggressively overweight. It was difficult to look at some of the employees because of their poor physical condition. I sound like an ash hole, but I am keeping it 100. The best in the business. Been going there exclusively for at least a year now, twice a month because my hair grows fast. I like that I can grab a beer and watch the game while I wait, no other barbershop does that, and I've been too a lot of barbershop's. They've always got candy too; and if you're a cigar person, they've got you covered. Aside from their cool amenities, Joe is the best barber in the downtown area, and that's coming from a natural born Phoenician who has been to a lot of barbershop's. I always get a high brooklyn fade with a hard part. Not a cut you want to get at Great Clips. You wouldn't go to a sports bar and ask them to make you a Mojito. It's right next to the gym too so as soon as I've got a fresh cut I have a place to show it off right next door. V's has their bases covered. read more

It's been great to watch V's, and the ownership, from opening day to now, hone their craft and create a loyal following by providing great customer service, attention to detail, and satisfying the need for another barber shop in downtown Phoenix. I see this customer loyalty increasing further when the shop cuts down on turnover. One of my favorite sayings when it comes to service is, "Make everyone feel like they're the only one." Serve the masses, and make personal connections while doing so, and you'll not only rake in the money short-term, but plant the seed to create a loyal following who will promote your business for the long-term. The staff and ownership at V's share in this philosophy. I think it would be beneficial to create some form of customer loyalty/appreciation card--that's both the marketer and consumer in me talking. Who doesn't love being rewarded for being a frequent customer? And who doesn't love having their shop frequented? It's a win-win! All in all, V's has all the old fashioned treatment you'd expect from a neighborly barber shop with all the modern luxuries of giant HDTVs and $2 local craft beers. This is a great place! I've been going here for a while and normally have Joe cut my hair. He takes his time and does a very good job. Today I set an appointment to have Joe cut my hair, but another barber (Gary) called me over to cut it since Joe was with someone. I should have waited on Joe. Gary cut my hair and trimmed my beard in 20 minutes or less. It wasn't even busy and, according to him, had not been busy all day. I was left with a lot of long strands of hair, mustache hair still hanging over my lip (after specifically asking him to line it up), beard patchy (some spots with more hair than the stubble) on neck, and did not style my hair. Now I have to finish the job at home that I paid him to do. If I'm paying $31 for a haircut and beard trim, the person cutting it better take their time and pay attention. Finally decided to cut the goatee off after a year and a couple months. Looked around and found V's Shop after reading reviews. Great experience starting from when you walk in. Very hospitable and warm. Willie got the nod to cut off goatee and a straight edge shave. He was very professional and great at his job. Do not come here around the time they go to lunch. Dude took 15 minutes to cut my hair and he rushed through it so much that the quality of my haircut wasn't good an I could tell he didn't care about the quality. He had no finesse for cutting my hair. He didn't look at it closely. He wanted to finish my cut so he can either go to lunch or relax and not do anything. I'm not sure really even where to start with this post. I have just spent two weeks in Mexico, and flew into Phoenix to see your concert. Knowing there would be many pictures taken I went in just looking to get a quick haircut and get my beard trimmed up. I got a lot more than I bargained for. I was seated in Ed Yakubov's Barber chair. It only took a few seconds to realize I was sitting in the presence of a true professional. He started to work and it was almost like sitting in front of Edward scissors hands. He was so I asked and you exactly what he was doing. Coming from the bay area I have not experienced anything even close to this kind of customer service. Realizing I was sitting in the chair of someone who really knew their craft well I decided to go for the works. Even with for the facemask. If I lived in the area I would make this a monthly stop. If it is to your liking you may even have a beer while you are getting yourself looking at your best. I just want to say a big thank you to Ed and the rest of the crew yesterday morning. Willie has been cutting my hair since he was with the Groom Room and when he moved here, I naturally followed him. I've known him for 3 plus years and he has never given me a bad cut. UPDATE: V's Cityscape has gone through so many barbers in the past few months it is hard to give a high quality rating. Mills was by far the best barber they had and they let him go. I followed him to Art of Shaving at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Orig: I've gone here 4 times now since they opened and have had 3 different barbers give me a hair cut. All the cuts have been fantastic, especially the latest one. Ask for Mills if you want a cut that requires high attention to detail. I never thought I'd see the day I'd be leaving a yelp review but here we go. I came in to get a standard haircut because I was going out of town. Lately I've be trying to only get a cut from Ary or Pedro since they seem to be the only guys familiar with cutting black hair. However, it was my last day before my flight and Ed was the only one available so I went to his chair. Ed is a great guy, personable, polite, and fast... too fast. I've been cut by him a few times in the past and it's always been just okay/passable so I try to steer clear, but that day he did something to my hairline that should be illegal in the state of Arizona. That's a bit dramatic, but on a serious note, it was simply a bad cut. He took my lining way too far back and I've been rocking a hat since then because I'm embarrassed to go out in public without one until the hair grows back. Nothing against these guys but I need to find a barbershop that's consistent in quality and a little more familiar with cutting black folks hair. My advice to Ed would be to slow down. I think if he did that his cuts would improve drastically. Other than that my experiences have been mostly pleasant with them as a business. Second time coming here and got a different barber both times and I got to say, they both did a great job. Now I will say that I do not get anything complicated. It is a simple 1 around the sides and back with a trim on top but even getting such a simple cut, it looks great and both times I felt great leaving there. The second time though is when the guy decided to take a little bit of a risk and here is what I mean. As I mentioned above, I ask for a simple cut but I never say whether I brush the hair back (which I do brush it back) and I just assume which would have been my fault if I did not like the outcome. The guy was in the middle of it when I started to wonder how he was going to finish with what I wanted and I got worried. Again, my fault. But he did something different that I never thought I would like which is brush my hair forward until and brush the front part backward and to the side. The reason I kept going with it is that he explained why he was doing it and it made a lot of sense. Long story short, I had a great experience with a new look that I appreciate.
