Review from a vehicle owner -- not a renter
I placed my McLaren 650S with VSSR under a written vehicle rental/management agreement in August 2024. My experience as a vehicle owner has resulted in a serious ongoing dispute.
During the period VSSR was renting my vehicle, I was informed of and paid for only 3 rentals. VSSR has now acknowledged directly to me that the McLaren was actually rented at least 12 times. I have requested a complete accounting for the additional rentals and revenue.
There are also significant mileage discrepancies. The vehicle entered VSSR's program with approximately 37,722 miles and had 40,041 miles documented by a tow company in February 2025. After the vehicle became inoperable and was supposedly out of service, the mileage later reported to me was 41,067.5 miles -- more than 1,000 additional miles. I have requested an explanation of who operated the vehicle, for what purpose, and under what insurance coverage.
I also learned of rental-related damage to my vehicle that had not been disclosed to me and remains unresolved.
VSSR subsequently presented me with a $21,916 repair invoice. I requested supporting documentation for the repairs and charges.
Despite these unresolved issues, I made a CAD $7,500 good-faith payment on August 10, 2026 in an effort to resolve the situation and recover my vehicle.
The following day, VSSR presented me with a new invoice demanding $27,350 in retroactive storage charges at $50/day dating back to February 2025. This was particularly concerning because VSSR's earlier repair invoice specifically listed storage at $0.
During the same dispute, I was told that VSSR claims to have a lien on my McLaren and that they have a new title "in hand" and that my title is "null and void." I dispute these claims and have requested the documentation supporting any alleged lien or change in title.
I have now delivered a formal written demand requesting the peaceful release of my McLaren, cessation of any further use of the vehicle, and a complete accounting.
I would strongly encourage anyone considering placing a personally owned exotic vehicle with VSSR to perform their own due diligence and make sure they fully understand and document the rental reporting, mileage, insurance, damage, repair, storage, lien, and vehicle-return provisions.
My preference remains to resolve this peacefully and recover my vehicle. I will update this review to accurately reflect how VSSR responds and how the matter is ultimately resolved. read more
