Hi, 30 dollars plus tip wasted! I so didin't feel like going to my regular salon, which is one of the best in Gburg, but being lazy I decided to try out this place for a Gelish manicure well the guy that did my nails had attitude right off the bat. He did the worse manicure, like he didn't want to touch me, maybe 20 secs of rubbing his fingers across my hand, that was my massage, ugh. Very impersonal, didn't want to talk or take my request. I went on the July 17, 2013 and on July 23, 2013 my gelish nail polish is chipping, and today I am peeling the polish off like it was decal polish. I normally go to Phoenix Nails, and Gelish lasts until I'm ready to go back, sometimes 3 weeks. I tried another place out of town and theirs lasted literally 3 months I had to scrape it off. I have gone here roughly two times, and both experiences were disappointing. I had an evening appointment for an acrylic overlay with polish. I got home and the polish looked awful. It was dull and you could see the lines from the grinder machine. That service set me back me $30 plus tip, so I went back the next morning to get it fixed. I wanted to get gel polish this time so my nails would like nice and shiny. Mind you, the night before, I was told that acrylic overlay with gel costs $40, which I happen to find overpriced, but I needed my nails done. I went back thinking it would cost me $10 to fix my nails, they ended up charging me $20 to repolish my nails with gel polish!!! Instead of charging me the difference for the service I had not even 24 hours earlier, they charged me for an entirely new service!!! Shame on me for not asking the price and thinking that their customer service was somewhat decent; shame on them for terrible customer service. To add insult to injury, she didn't give me the right change back and I had to go back to tell her she shorted me $10! Needless to say, I definitely won't be going back again. Terrible customer service all around and nails should be done right the first time for the prices they charge (both times I've gone, I've had to go back to get them fixed!). Also, a girl walked in pretty annoyed bc her gel manicure was already chipping. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

I am really surprised at the earlier reviews. I am hoping that maybe only the disgruntled have taken time to review VT Nails and those that are satisfied just haven't taken the time to voice their opinions. I am so happy with every service I have received here! Chong is so friendly. He greets everyone promptly as they walk in, often by name. This leads me to believe he has many happy regulars. He does a beautiful job on my pink and white gel fills. When I do choose to go with a color there are many gel colors with matching toe colors, as well as many acrylic colors including the popular OPI brand. Although almost everyone here does designs or nail art, Mike and Chong are the two masters that rise well above! They can go as simple or elaborate as you request. I am also happy with all the waxing services I have received. They are as gentle as you can possibly be when using hot wax to rip out tiny hairs in sensitive places but everyone's skin is not the same and some may get other results. This is not usually the fault of the person performing the service, it's just how skin reacts. They have a couple options for pedicures from basic to fancy. You get what you pay for and both are always relaxing and very thorough. My feet are always so clean and soft when they are done. The legs massages are great. The place in general is very clean, including the restrooms. I hope more people will read this positive review and focus less on the negative ones because this place is getting a bad wrap by a few people. If you enjoy your visit (or even if you didn't, which I doubt) please take a few minutes to share your experience because they deserve a much better rating. read more

Holly did my gel fill in and pedicure today. She was great. The salon was dead. I was the only client in there other than a redo that came in about 45 min after me. The salon itself was not one of the most clean or modern establishments I've visited before. The floors need to be cleaned and so do some of the chairs. I may come back if my normal woman in Rockville is busy or if I'm close. Not quite sure yet. read more

I used to go to this salon back in 2001 when it was owned by different people. I loved it back then, and since I was in the area, I went back. I saw it was under new ownership, but wanted to give it a try anyway. The window said mani/pedi - $32. I was greeted right away and seated in the chair... That's when it all started going downhill. The water was WAY too hot and the girl didn't ask if it was okay or not. I had to say something. She was either on the phone or talking to her co-workers, and barely said a word to me. Once the very rushed pedicure was done, she moved on to the equally if not more rushed manicure. I opted to get the gel polish so it wouldn't chip as quickly. Again, barely anything was said, and she barely touched my hands - she rushed through everything to the pint where she had to use acetone to get polish off my fingers, then proceeded to blame it on my nails being short. I get my bill and it's $52!! How does adding gel to the manicure add $20?! I will NEVER go back to this place. My nails don't even look that good it looks like what I could have done at home! Everytime i come here I get great service and a belly full of laughs. The staff I've encountered are all nice and make me feel like I'm VIP when I come. I walked in today to get a pedi and was told to come back. I didn't mind the wait because I did not have an appointment. While waiting for my appointment time I was called without even providing my number and told that I could be seen now if I came back. This made me feel like I was cared about and just not a dollar bill even though I don't frequent this establishment. The reason I gave four stars is because the place could use a tiny bit of updating and the Polish selection isn'ty cup of tea and isn't plentiful, easy fix with bringing my own though. read more

I was so happy with the service they were providing until recently when a lot of new people where hired. I went in for a manicure and the lady took like 15 mins. to file, trim cuticles, paint my nails and half the time she was on the phone. It was a rush job and I was disappointed and will not be going to any new people there and if the good workers can't fit me in then I will be looking for another place read more

I've been coming here for years, but will not return after today. The polish selection was horrible- most of the bottles were cheap brands ($4 and under), and there were very few color choices. They changed from the $22 full-service pedicure they used to do to a menu of services. Now, in order to get a scrub, you have to pay $25. It's supposed to also come with warm towels, but I never got any. When I asked for them to file my heels, I was told it would cost an additional $5. The towel placed under my feet during the pedicure did not look clean. When I asked for a cup of water, I was told they do not have water to drink. The technician did a good job (never told me her name) and she was nice (I used to go to Emily, who is good, but she was unavailable), but that is the only reason I rated two stars instead of one. I really like this place. They are efficient and give a great pedicure. They can almost always take a walk-in. One pedicure I got here was still flawless 2 weeks later. The one downside is that whoever else said the color selection was a little lacking is dead on. I wish they would invest in Essie (personal fave) or OPI color choices. read more

The first time I went, it was a walk - in.... So I waited awhile, which was okay. Tony did my nails & They turned out pretty... I was excited to return. The second time, I made a appointment & I still wasn't seen almost a hour later. They were taking walk ins before me, it was a mess. I ended up leaving, THEN they wanted to take me. I have been going here for about a year and a half... Everything was good and I came out happy and excited about my nails. Until today I got my nails and eyebrows done and the lady name was Rachel or something like that, she was very nice until she did my eyebrows she said I plucked a extra piece of hair and she showed me in the dim light in the back room it didn't look bad until I came home and turned on my bathroom light and it's a gap between my tail of the eyebrows she plucked more than a extra piece.. Me and my mother have been and both gotten our nails done by emily shes pretty good, i also got a nail fixed by an older lady iwish i knew her name because i liked her fix better than my whole set. went to get a French manicure and they did a bad job, wasn't clean looking and used this harsh purple tint on my nails. A day later most of my nails were off or had really bad chips. I went back to ask for a refund because of how awful it was and didn't last one day. The lady was very rude and told me they don't do refunds. My friend and I have been getting acrylics for about 4 months now. We were going to Aqua nails, but with their short staff and small space they weren't able to take us one night. In need of a fill in before breakage we decided to try out vt based on reviews. The first experience was decent, my nail tech just did a fill in , and my friend got a beautiful full set by the owner. We decided to try it out again and the second experience was a whole other experience. Both of our nail techs were blantantly rude. The fill in was painful with the technicans lack of care in procedure and aggressive comments. It was also obvious our nail techs were talking about us. My friend's nail tech gave attitude when a smudge occurred in process, and she asked to fix it. My nail tech smudged my polish saw it, and didn't fix it. On top of their mediocre work we were charged more, and were given condescending answers. My nail tech said 25 when on the outside it says 17. I said I paid 20 last time (for breakage), and he explained it was the new price 21 plus 4 for the breakage I had again this time. My friends nail tech said 25 for her fill in no breakage and then told my friend only 21 after hearing our conversation. All seemed like a scam. The owner wasn't there, but employees should know how to handle business. read more

i had my eyebrows and lipwaxed by a young man i had never seen before. i walked out with burns on both my eyebrows and left side of the lip. four days later my lip is finally forming a scab, though my eyebrows are less obvious but tender to touch. i have been going there for over 5 years, and asked for a refund. was told i would get a couple of free waxes and a pedicure!! read more

Well, where to start....I only went here because it is close to my house and my friend has been going here for years. We had no appointments and were able to walk in and get started immediately, which was nice. I wanted a regular manicure and pedicure. The girl who started my pedicure immediately seemed very friendly and smiley, asked me if I wanted the "Spa" pedicure which I had never had before. She said a few things about it however her accent was so broken I couldnt understand everything but figured it would be nice treat for once so I said yes. The pedicure started out fine however she did cut down my toe nails without asking and they weren't long, so that was annoying. I have always been asked at my previous salon whether I would like my nails cut- whether nails or toes. Then as the "Spa" pedicure went on, she used about 3 different scrubs only on my legs- one of them was quite 'gritty' and hurt a bit as she proceeded to really rub it in. The last thing was the oil and hot towel that went on my legs. At NO point did she put lotion on my feet OR rub my legs for any amount of time which I thought was odd for a "Spa" pedicure. I even asked if any type of massage came with this and received a very quick "no". Well, there went her friendliness. At every salon I've ever been too, I have always had at least lotion rubbed on my feet...for $20+ I would hope so! However, I assume each salon is different so I let this go and realized I would NEVER get a pedicure again here. "Spa" pedicure is a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY HERE!!!!! Now, let's get to the real problem....my "manicure"....after soaking my fingers in the hot water, she starting clipping the skin around my nails as usual. Well first finger in and she was clipping way too quick and carelessly and cut into my finger pretty bad, so bad it immediately started bleeding! I've been cut before, however I do not believe it's a normal thing- its due to the nail tech RUSHING to get done and being careless. However, what happened immediately after is what set me off- SHE PUT SUPERGLUE ON THE CUT TO STOP THE BLEEDING!!! Not the green anti-bacterial stuff all the other nail salons use. Then she proceeded to do it two more times before I was able to tell her to PLEASE STOP PUTTING SUPERGLUE IN MY OPEN CUT!!! She then actually caught an attitude with ME and said very rudely, "sorry". You should have said sorry when you cut me! It wasn't until after I told her to stop that she went looking for the green oitment because she had none at her station- another issue!!!! I wanted to get up and leave right then but stopped myself because my friend was still getting her mani. So I bit my toungue and let her finish. She was a bit more careful and painted them well. Then she puts me under a dryer that the UV lights didn't even work. Do you think she came back to check on them to see if they were dry before I left? NO, of course! She didn't even remember to ring me up- lucky I'm not a jerk who would have left without paying! TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY- SAVE YOURS AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE....ANYWHERE ELSE!!!! read more
