    This is the new location of the VTA's Downtown customer service center, as the old Market Street location is now closed. Most of the services they provide here can also be acheived through the website, or by calling the phone number. However, if you're like me, and would rather do things in person, this is the spot for you. Here's a quick summary of the services they provide here: -Purchase Clipper Products -Inquire about Lost & Found items--just be sure to bring a valid CA ID card with you. -Pick up maps and schedules -Apply for a Regional Transit Connection Discount Card (RTC) Ambiance- The layout is more open and comfortable than the previous location and all the service windows are clearly marked. There's also some nice display cases showing various VTA memorabilia and Tchotchkes. Service- I've come in here twice: once to retrieve my son's backpack we had forgotten on the Light Rail and the second time to get my work issued Eco Pass. The employees I dealt with both times were really nice, informative and very helpful. All-in-all, this is the place to go if you have any kind of VTA issues, questions and concerns.

    I am writing on behalf of my 4 year old son. The incident happened on 01/17/2020 Friday when my Mother and my 3 kids took the #27 bus Winchester Station - Kaiser San Jose via Downtown Los Gatos around 12:15pm-ish (take note no one was inside the bus but my 3 kids, my mom and the driver). My son was diagnosed of Autism and non-verbal when he was 18 months old and since then his been in ABA (applied behavioral analysis) full time (30 hours a week) and speech therapy at the same time. He recently started talking about 6-7 months ago and making a sentence which was amazing. He started and talking and singing. He has a tendency of repeating a songs few times and words also especially when his around random people or in a situation that's unfamiliar. My mom and my son's been taking the bus since last year to go to his Special Ed School and on Friday January 17th 2020 the school was closed due to a teachers meeting or programs. So after my son's therapy they decided to got o McDonalds and have lunch along with my other 2 kids (10 years and 7 years old). They took the bus #27 and the driver noticed that my son was singing and repeating words (not screaming and not loud) but just singing and all of a sudden the driver said "MAKE HIM STOP IT'S ANNOYING AND DISTRUCTING" as soon as he said that my mom decided to moved in the back so he won't hear my son singing. However as soon as the driver screamed to them my son started crying. He felt scared and so my mom started to comfort but it didn't helped. So the Driver got much more upset (actually MAD) so he yelled to them "MAKE HIM STOP CRYING IF YOU CAN'T I WILL MAKE YOU GO OUT OF THE BUS" take note my oldest daughter started paying attention with the time and bus and making sure she can remember everything so she can tell me the details (my oldest daughter is trained to be more aware of things especially when it' needed). And that's when my mom said to the driver "YOU THINK I CAN MAKE HIM STOP NOW, HIS UPSET NOW. HE HAS AUTISM AND I CAN'T MAKE HIM STOP RIGHT NOW IT'S A PROCESS. AND YOU TREATING HIM LIKE THAT WILL NOT HELP" I was scared and sad, mad and angry and I don't know how I felt when my oldest daughter was telling me what happened. So I contacted VTA and filed a complaint and as of right now they have nothing yet except that the supervisors already requested for CCTV and sent a note to driver to "COME SEE ME" and the driver has 7-10 business days to respond to it. So right now I am still upset and made. My goal is to have that driver get into a class or programs or something. Not get fired. but maybe educated himself. If he cannot handle a 4 year old kid then he should not be around public. If you are in a public everyday expect that you will encounter people that aren't in your taste. So for you driver I can tell you now that you might be old enough to know things but I can assure you "YOU ARE NOT" you need to go back to school or something and read books about AUTISM. As the advocate for my son I will not stop until I get a response from them. I need to know why he acted like that to my kids especially towards my 4 year old son. I am a full time mom and a full time employee at Santa Clara County so I understand how to work with Public and so is my husband. So to YOU DRIVER I will continue to pray for you every day. So when you about to sleep at night you will be reminded of what and how you acted towards my son and how you treated my kids and my son for the rest of your life. I will make sure to pray for you all the time.

    Bus 22 seat. Looks like at least a weeks worth of buildup. Hard to imagine how any middle class commuter would want to sit on this

    A Call for Genuine Transportation Solutions…read more It's astonishing to witness the blatant disregard for implementing an efficient route to & from south county. These areas remain starkly neglected, despite persistent appeals for more expedient transportation options. The proposed system, which serves a few bus stops -- 1 in Gilroy, 1 in Morgan Hill, & potentially another in South San Jose--would connect a lot quicker to Diridon Station, but the current system, with several bus stops along Monterey Rd without ever going in the freeway, fails to quickly connect to Diridon Station for Caltrain. This oversight particularly affects those living just south of the Caltrain service cutoff during off-peak hours. Moreover, the notion of a separate route connecting to the North San Jose/Berryessa BART Station remains a distant dream. The insistence that the Rapid 568 is sufficient simply because it bears the label "rapid" is both misleading & disheartening. Residents of Morgan Hill & Gilroy have expressed that these services are far too slow, which takes over 2 times or even 3 or 4 times as long as a car ride. The reality is stark: driving from Morgan Hill to Diridon Station takes around 25 minutes, while the so-called "Rapid 568" drags on for over 50 minutes. One could just as easily rename it the "Less Slow 568." The route's failure to utilize the freeway for faster transit is baffling. The bus company even sometimes has the buses to say "Spare The Air", & to encourage people to take the bus instead of driving, which comes at the expense of their sleep time if they choose to use it for work purposes, all by which they won't if they have the ability & means to get a car. And despite the bus company encouraging people to take public transportation, most of those working in the corporate or headquarters level of the VTA bus company drive to & from work & don't do their part, highlighting a major hypocrisy among them! Is it too much to ask for a direct bus route that connects Gilroy to Diridon Station with minimal stops near the freeway? The alternatives are hardly feasible. For those considering rideshare options like Lyft or Uber, the financial burden is staggering--always over $30 or even often over $40 for a one-way trip, not to mention the expectation of tipping the driver. This scenario is not sustainable for daily commutes, especially for those in Morgan Hill or Gilroy who lack access to a car. A former VTA employee I spoke with expressed dismay at the apparent apathy within route management. He remarked that many of the staff seem to go to work just for a paycheck, a troubling indictment of a system that should prioritize the needs of its community. Imagine the transformation that could occur if these decision-makers were to relocate to Morgan Hill or Gilroy & rely on public transportation for their daily commutes. Their perspective would undoubtedly shift, catalyzing much-needed improvements in service. Unfortunately, the prevailing reality is that public transportation is not serving the people effectively. While there may be lofty goals to encourage a shift away from personal vehicles, such aspirations falter when faced with the prospect of sacrificing over 1 hour of commuting time for a 1 way trip, which means well over 2 hours in total daily commute when going to work only to much of San Jose & especially Santa Clara, especially if it means sacrificing almost half of normal sleep time just to take public transportation. This isn't merely conjecture; it's a palpable truth that drives individuals back to their cars, seeking convenience over inconvenience. The cycle is self-perpetuating. As more individuals opt for personal vehicles due to the inefficiencies of public transport, the ridership declines, leading to dwindling revenue for the very services that should be thriving. When I finally buy my own car, I won't miss public transportation in the slightest. I will relish the freedom it provides, & I can only predict that my experience will mirror that of countless others who find themselves in the same position. Ultimately, the message is clear: you reap what you sow. If public transportation continues on this path of neglect & inefficiency, it risks becoming obsolete. Change won't come from mere wishful thinking; it must be driven by the voices of those who demand better. Only through active engagement & persistent requests & having the city or county to put more serious people who won't be spending tax money unwisely but rather wisely to put more efficient route to work can we hope to create a transportation system that truly serves its community.

    Ok so on a recent trip to San Jose with my mother and brother-to go see my beloved San Jose…read moreSharks,I was trying to figure out a more efficient way to way of getting to the stadium-for both cost efficiency and traffic chaos-I really dislike the traffic after an event be it a sporting event or a concert and with the love the San Jose Sharks have been getting lately,I knew traffic would be bad both pre and post game. So looking into the cost of parking near the stadium-i I was looking at upwards of $40 to park across the street from the SAP Center-that's outrageous to me-so I knew there had to be a better way. So what I decided to do was look into the Light Rail system in the area and I realized I could park at the Bascom Rail Station-which is part of the VTA system in the area. Once parked I could catch the light rail and go 2 or 3 stops,maybe 10 minutes and it would drop me off right in front of the SAP Center and I could just walk into the stadium. Here is the good stuff-parking at the light rail station was free and the fare for the train was like $2.50. After the event-it was so easy to just walk back to the station-catch a train back to Bascom and jump in my car and off I was back to Sacramento-easy peasy. The station felt very safe-especially on a game night,lots of people at the train station-so no issues there. In closing-I would definitely highly recommend this method of getting to and from events at the SAP Center-it's cheaper-it's less hectic and it's super efficient-Be Safe Out There. PS-This method works for events at Levi Stadium as well-VTA Light Rail for the win.....

As another reviewer noted, it's not like this review will have any impact whatsoever on the experience that is 880, but since a Yelp page exists for this entity (I love you, Yelp), I may as well pitch in my $0.02, since I will now be spending the equivalent of 26 full days each year on this roadway. So, a few things about 880.... There is a FasTrak express lane that you can utilize if you want to be gouged with absolutely insane 'tolls', regardless of the fact that we already pay for these roadways with our tax dollars. The 'tolls' fluctuate constantly based on traffic. I've seen them as high as $15 - to travel in the express lane for stretches of less than 10 miles. It's positively criminal. Unless I am really in a pinch time-wise, I will not use the express lane, and would go broke if I used it daily. The 'tolls' are in effect all day, until 8pm I believe. The traffic congestion on this freeway is awful. At all hours. In both directions. It rivals the 405 in Southern California, which is basically a parking lot. I know it's not the freeway's fault the Bay Area is grossly overcrowded, but the fact remains that the traffic nightmares are a direct consequence of there simply being way too many people in the area. Next thing about 880 is that there are consistently a ton of big rigs all over the road - by far more than any other freeway I've traveled on. The obvious size difference between passenger vehicles and big rigs, along with the limited visibility the trucks create, inherently increases the risk of traveling on this roadway. Needless to say, drive with the utmost caution, leave plenty of room between your and other vehicles, and give yourself ample time to get to your destination. Ok, now for the positives, if you want to call them that.... First, the road is in fairly decent condition, by California standards anyway, despite the incredible wear-and-tear it takes each day. Second, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but so far, my fellow commuters have been, for the most part.... respectful. I have seen virtually no road raging. Perhaps it is because we are severely limited in how fast we can move along, but whatever the reason, I'll take it. Perhaps we're all just trauma-bonding. So, again, please drive carefully and respectfully, y'all, on 880, and in general. Let's do our best to make commuting as bearable as possible. Happy travels!

I'm pretty sure AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" is about 880. Thanks Andrea for that. Way back in the day up by Oakland I called it the roller coaster since it was not level at all. Seriously take your motion sickness drugs. Well then mama GOD and Mother Nature agreed, and the Loma Preita earthquake took care of it in '89. So present day, no roller coaster but the traffic is horrendous all times of the day in both directions, weekdays and weekends. The express lanes help some but during commute times will break the bank with the fees. Where does this money go???? Nobody wants to know. Back in the day when I worked for Intel this was my commute a couple time a month even though I was based out of Folsom. Even now, done being a corporarate drone, I still travel the 880 to places south for non-work fun. In the morning you can be sure heading south it will jam up just before the 238. To this day I have no idea why. Frequently I would jump to side streets to get around backups. Not sure I ever saved time by doing this but way better than just taking it. The more I think about this I realize there may not be a fix for this. It would be great if all the people in the north took the jobs of people coming up from the south and the people in the south took the jobs of people traveling from the north. Maybe if I had the data I could program something like that to equalize this nightmare called I-880. My partner just started this commute and her stories are worse than any of my experiences. If I could gove it a 0 star or better multiple minus stars I would.

That means no slashes…read more Choose the name that's the most important or that is most different from other local station names. This station has a triply unfortunate name because (a) it has that slash, (b) "Metro" is an awful name for a metro station, because it sounds like the kind of station rather than the station itself, and (c) one would assume that it's possible to access the airport directly from a station with "Airport" in its name, but one would be incorrect, because in order to reach the airport, one has to take a VTA bus (line 60) from here. Wow, so that name is awful. How about the station itself? It's OK. Like most VTA stations, it feels too small and like it's in the middle of nowhere. Again, a station with the words "Metro" and "Airport" in its name feels like it should be right in the middle of all the urban action, but this station manages to make the surrounding area feel like an industrial wasteland even though most of San José (including its pathetic downtown) is decidedly suburban. I told Dan and Jorge that there would be parking near this station, but they assured me there wouldn't be. Lo and behold, when we came back here and had to get a ride because we hadn't parked, I spied three parking spots on one street within a block of the station. The bigger question is why I continue to allow a resident of Santa Clara and San José, respectively, to tell me, a resident of San Francisco, how difficult parking in a given area is. Jorge has never lived in San Francisco, but Dan has; he should know better. Difficult means there's absolutely no street parking within a mile, maybe a mile-and-a-half. I'm sure I would have been able to find a legal parking spot before we went to the concert.

    This is the 6th time I have used the bus to get to and from the airport…read more It comes frequently, is clean, free. Mornings - I like. Driver always seems to be in good mood. This morning was no exception. Really nice, friendly individual. Evenings - I am less a fan of. The drivers seem short, unfriendly. Once the bus left without me - even with me standing right in front of door. So I will avoid nights going forward.... But mornings are excellent =)

    ... some of the reviews here make no sense…read more - yes, there are signs to which direction you're going. - yes, there are benches, if you are sitting or standing where they're at and facing the fences, you will see the sign of where it's going - yes, the elevators smell-- it only takes on lesson to learn that. - it won't say exactly which one to take besides the usual ALUM ROCK or SANTA TERESA, etc. - the stairs, good work out. not every stop has an escalator at all. only smelly elevators. - they're cleaning up the public area, good for them. they're not leaving it to just get dirtier. - there are maps that tells you which light rail to take and estimated arrival times, got questions? call 511, no phone? turn around and ask a stranger. they know where they're going and which route to take. $2 one way, transfer light rail $6 day pass to use on VTAs, including bus Light rail takes you to Caltrain as well. Earliest departure is about 4:25am.

If…read moreyou drop off your car at any one of the dealerships on capital auto mall it would be so nice to walk to the station from the west entrance and take the escalator up to platform between the highway 87 lanes. What you'll find is that you'll have to go back down and find the ticket kiosk which is actually towards the East entrance and then find your way back to platform. Hopefully not missing the next train in the process . Buyers remorse overall as I should have taken a Lyft. Way too noisy and so little train activity even at high noon on a weekday
