Problem with this station is that there are no vending machines and not knowing the area. Hard to venture out with luggage in tow to look for edibles. No luggage check ins here. My bus was delayed but no announcements were made. A lady employee finally came out to tell passengers there is delay due to traffic but no eta for bus. After that, no more updates. Bus came 1 1/2 hours later with passengers standing around. Where was the customer service? This station. Is not busy with lines of passengers making inquiries and there were two employees.

It's also at the transit center so you can also take local buses and the Amtrak trains. There is a parking lot on-site where you can park and ride for $5.50 all day. Depending on which zone you're getting on and off will determine the price that you pay. Just remember that you need to pay before you board. You can scan your Clipper card at their kiosks or buy one on-site. Pro tip: if you have an iPhone you can set up a digital transit card and refill your transit card with your credit card. If you're going northbound you'll have to go under the tunnel to get to the right platform. This is a pretty big station and was pretty clean.

There are many free shuttles that ACE operates to get passengers quickly to and from their workplaces in the mornings and in the afternoons. There is also access to VTA light rail within a 5 minute walk from the station at either the Lick Mill or Levi's Stadium/Great America stations. I park a car at the station Tuesday-Thursday to get back and forth from my office in downtown Mountain View to the station. There's plenty of parking at both the paved VTA lot and also at the unpaved lot that was used as parking and trailer space for the Levi's station construction. The unpaved lot is a lot closer to the train platform, but I'm not entirely sure how much longer they're going to allow ACE passengers to park there now that construction is complete on the stadium. On Mondays and Fridays, I usually take the VTA light rail into downtown Mountain View. If you have to make a similar trip, take the red ACE Shuttle to the Crossman VTA station instead of walking down to Lick Mill. The connection to the light rail is usually really tight and the shuttle will take you farther down the light rail line, which will save you a run down the hill to the station. The only thing that sucks about this station is that there are no restrooms. There is one porta-poty with a lock on it that is only to be used by the shuttle drivers. If there's a big delay, you'll have to go over to the Carl's Jr to use the restroom. It's rarely an issue, but it does happen.

This review is for Amtrak train not the station…read more I regularly use the Amtrak stop at Great America Station in Santa Clara, and one thing continues to be incredibly frustrating: the train horn. Every single time the Amtrak train arrives and is already slowing to a near-complete stop, the engineer blasts the horn at maximum volume for an unusually long time. It's so loud that it startles passengers and people waiting on the platform. I've seen people visibly jump from the sudden noise. I understand train horns are important for safety, but this feels excessive and unnecessary when the train is already at walking speed and nearly stopped at the station. I've ridden ACE and Caltrain many times, and they don't seem to do this in the same disruptive manner. Amtrak should review their operating practices and ensure the passenger experience is being taken seriously.

This station has a triply unfortunate name because (a) it has that slash, (b) "Metro" is an awful name for a metro station, because it sounds like the kind of station rather than the station itself, and (c) one would assume that it's possible to access the airport directly from a station with "Airport" in its name, but one would be incorrect, because in order to reach the airport, one has to take a VTA bus (line 60) from here. Wow, so that name is awful. How about the station itself? It's OK. Like most VTA stations, it feels too small and like it's in the middle of nowhere. Again, a station with the words "Metro" and "Airport" in its name feels like it should be right in the middle of all the urban action, but this station manages to make the surrounding area feel like an industrial wasteland even though most of San José (including its pathetic downtown) is decidedly suburban. I told Dan and Jorge that there would be parking near this station, but they assured me there wouldn't be. Lo and behold, when we came back here and had to get a ride because we hadn't parked, I spied three parking spots on one street within a block of the station. The bigger question is why I continue to allow a resident of Santa Clara and San José, respectively, to tell me, a resident of San Francisco, how difficult parking in a given area is. Jorge has never lived in San Francisco, but Dan has; he should know better. Difficult means there's absolutely no street parking within a mile, maybe a mile-and-a-half. I'm sure I would have been able to find a legal parking spot before we went to the concert.

This morning was no exception. Really nice, friendly individual. Evenings - I am less a fan of. The drivers seem short, unfriendly. Once the bus left without me - even with me standing right in front of door. So I will avoid nights going forward.... But mornings are excellent =)

It brings you very close to the theater. Worth the $2 to do. (You get a 50 cent discount to transfer from BART to VTA)

I'm torn between giving this station a four or perfect five star review. The reason why I gave this a perfect rating was because the schedule was accurate (round trip) and the inside of the Light Rail was clean and odorless. The announcements for each stop was clear and precise. Pay station was in working condition....accepts cash and credit cards. It's $1.25 for a one way trip. You have the option to buy day passes as well. This is a great transportation system to get you around the city. Even better since it makes a stop for Levi's Stadium (Great America stop). Only reason why I would knock off one star was because the St. James station is located in a park where numerous homeless people hang/resides (and a few who's mind isn't "all there"). So be careful of your surroundings, don't get distracted constantly looking down at your phone, be alert at all times. Also pay attention to where you're walking. We could not differentiate whether if it's animal feces or....you know....

For being adjacent to the park occupied by homeless, VTA does a great job keeping things clean and safe. It's also a perfect stop for Trials Pub, so a night out can be enjoyed by all, and VTA will assure a safe trip home. This location, like others, is equipped with an emergency call system, to put anyone at ease in case of emergency or threats.
