A Hidden Gem on Valley Blvd That Earns Every Star! Good Alley in Rosemead has quickly become one of…read moremy go-to spots in the San Gabriel Valley. Good Alley does the Kaifeng-style guantang bao (soup dumpling) with a thicker wrapper that somehow holds an almost obscene amount of rich, collagen-packed broth inside. One bite and the broth just floods your mouth. Get these first, get them hot, and don't share. The Chinese cumin lamb burger (roujiamo) is another must. The bread is a flaky, thousand-layer pancake -- so much better than the typical baked bun -- and the beef filling is well-seasoned and satisfying. It's the kind of dish that sounds simple until you actually eat it and realize how much craft goes into it. Dry-pot cauliflower, scallion oil dry noodle , and korubuta pork & shrimp wontons are also delicious. The berry sticky mochi drink was so refreshing! Service is friendly, the space is clean and modern, and the iPad ordering system actually works smoothly. Fair warning: expect a wait on weekends -- word is getting out. Come early or be patient, because it's absolutely worth it.

We visited during the dinner rush, so the wait was longer than expected. Fortunately, they have a digital waitlist system that made it easy to track our place in line, and we didn't mind the wait too much. Once seated, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised to get a spacious corner booth despite being a party of two. It was comfortable, gave us plenty of room to enjoy our meal, and, of course, allowed me to take all the food photos I wanted without feeling rushed. We ordered the beef rolls, Wagyu beef Chinese burger, Kurobuta pork and crab soup dumplings, braised beef noodle soup, and Japanese scallops. As a huge scallop fan, I expected the scallops to be my favorite dish of the night, but they ended up being a little too salty for my taste. Everything else was solid. The standout dish for me was the braised beef noodle soup. While I've had stronger versions elsewhere in the SGV, this one was still flavorful, comforting, and the dish I found myself going back to the most throughout the meal. What truly surprised me were the drinks. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos, but they ended up being one of the highlights of the evening. The menu is extensive, and I could easily see myself returning just to explore more of their drink offerings and try additional dishes. What really elevated Good Alley, for me though, is the service. Despite how busy the restaurant was, the staff remained attentive, friendly, and efficient. Our food arrived surprisingly quickly, and we never felt overlooked. Great customer service can make a good meal even better, and that's what stood out to me most about this experience. Overall, Good Alley offers a comfortable dining experience, a large menu with plenty to explore, and service that goes above and beyond. I'll definitely be back to try more of what they have to offer. :)

I usually place an order through their Instagram DMs a few weeks in advance for holidays. You can ask for their excel spreadsheet and they'll send it to you with prices and this same spreadsheet updates every year! There is also a little deposit for holiday pick up depending on the size of your order. Their sashimi platter is beautiful, fresh, delicious, and always a party favorite. I usually get: Salmon, Toro, Yellowtail, Scallops, and Oysters. If available, uni trays and fresh wasabi (which can also be picked up at HMart). Scallops are my favorite but every piece of fish is so good and cut perfectly. Parking and pick up is easy. It is a very small store front with one party inside at a time and pay at the counter. Highly recommend for party platters for fresh sashimi.

I went there thinking I'm just going to buy 2 items max. Wrong! This place, unlike many places around the area takes credit cards. There goes all my money! Lol. I ended up with a basketful of food. I just couldn't help it. I ate them, not all, as soon as I got home and each one of them was delicious and authentic. I know this will be a stop for me whenever I visit LA. They're just that good.

They really keep the authenticity and quality at a high level. The food is amazing and every dish we have tried has been consistently good. It can get a little pricey if you order a bunch of dishes with a group but it is completely worth it for the quality you are getting. One nice bonus is their loyalty program. If you spend over 50 dollars they give you a stamp card and once you collect ten stamps you get around 20 dollars off or a free dish. Definitely a good incentive to keep coming back. If you are looking for authentic Indonesian food in the Rosemead area I honestly do not think there is a better option than Medan Kitchen. Highly recommend giving it a try.
