Been hearing a lot of hype about this spot, so of course I had to come check it out. They're known for making their lap xuong (Vietnamese style) in-house, which is pretty rare these days. That's pretty much all they sell here, but when you specialize in one thing, you better do it well... and they definitely do. I picked up a pack of the pork and chicken lap xuong and it was delicious. You can really taste that they're made fresh. I can honestly say this is probably going to be my new go-to spot whenever I need lap xuong. Whether you're throwing it in fried rice, eating it with sticky rice, or just pan-frying it on its own, it's hard to go wrong with these. I can not believe that I've never yelped QUANG TRAN. This is my go-to for Vietnamese sausage. You may say Chinese/Vietnamese sausage is all the same ... but it's not. I can guarantee that you'll feel the same after you try Quang Tran's pork sausages. Quang Tran is a multi generational establishment. The young man who's the the main person at the store front is the grandson of the original sausage maker. His name is Ngon, I hope I spelled it correctly and he was more than helpful today. He was able to sell me 5 bags of pork sausage when another customer tried to buy everything out. Coming all the way from New York, I was MORE than appreciative of his kindness. Will I return?!? Parking: The store is located in a plaza with a pretty decent sized parking lot. If you're unable to find parking, there is always plenty of street parking. Lap Cheong/Sausage Flavors: 1) Pork 2) Chicken and Pork 3) Pork and Liver Pork and chicken: If you've never had this it's a juicy sweet and salty sausage with slight notes of rice wine and garlic flavors. When you cook it, it will be nice and crispy up on the outside, but will remain nice and juicy on the inside. Best for fried rice, with eggs, with your sandwich, or whatever you want to use it for. It's very quick and easy to cook. Hours: They open from 9am to 4pm every day except for Wednesday. On Wednesday they open from 9am to 12pm. Overall: I stopped in on the weekend because I couldn't find any lap cheong/sausages for my grandma at my local asian market. Instead of going to another market I decided to go straight to the source. The purchase was quick and easy and the owner was friendly. He even gave us our lap cheong/sausages in a cute Lunar New Year's bag to go. If you have a chance to try I would highly recommend it. PSA - This place is CASH ONLY! The owner is very nice and full of personality. She is all business, hard working, takes care of customers quickly, and often has something funny to say. In all the years I've been buying sausages here, she is always at the front. I'm spoiled by these sausages because they're flavorful and you can tell they're high quality. It's hard to pick a favorite because they're all good for different reasons. Pork chicken (5/5) is good for when I'm trying to be a little "healthier." Pork liver (5/5) has a mineral quality that I love and it's perfect with a bowl of hot rice. Pork (5/5) is the OG. If I had to pick, the pork may be my favorite because I can have it all the time. It's great for a quick meal, in sticky rice, and steamed. My favorite way (and least healthy) to eat these sausages is to cook them in my rice pot on top of the rice. Good if you like your sausages on the blander side. It's soft, juicy, balance of sweet and salty in the sense that the salt and sweet cancelled out and no gaminess. There also isn't a snap that I would expect out of a sausage. It's more fresh and not as dried compared to what we see in super markets. I did a taste comparison with my preferred brand and this was close tie but my preferred brand had characteristics of a Chinese sausage that I enjoyed more. Given the price point, I wouldn't come here again since it doesn't fit my taste preferences but I would say worth a try if you like juicy and mild tasting sausage. read more

I remember coming here as a kid to get their famous lap cheong. It has been about 20 years since I last had their lap cheong. I came here a couple weeks ago and got one of each of their lap cheong to take back home to the Bay Area. I took it with me on the plane without any problem. You honestly don't go to this type of place to get good service. Just get the sausages you need and leave. I highly recommend that everyone buys their lap cheongs here instead of in a supermarket. The texture and flavor is way better than the different brands I've bought in 99 Ranch. I've tried the pork and chicken, and the pork ones. The pork and chicken definitely had a softer texture than the pork one. I love buying multiple packs. I'm a college student and it is a quick and easy meal. When I cook rice, I just toss 2 sausages on the top. 30 minutes later, I have fluffy rice and a perfectly steamed lap cheong. Do note that IT IS CASH ONLY. I really wish they accepted card or venmo - I'd purchase a lot more sausages. That being said, I do admit the service comes off as rude, but unless they're a sit down restaurant, I don't mind. You walk inside a store way too large for the number of products they sell, and all you see are 3 types of sausage, maybe 6 sausages per package, laying in a relatively empty large display case and one little Vietnamese (?) guy hidden by a large counter. Odd. But as long as I get my sausage, they can do whatever they want. This is by far the best Chinese sausage I have ever tested! Plump, nicely seasoned, and sweet. Tested it for the first time this morning, and it brings out the best in my husband's favorite breakfast meal. That would be: sauteed onions in peanut oil, this sausage (thinly sliced), then scrambled together with a couple of eggs, served over steamed rice. Simple, great tasting (if you have the right sausage). Eye-rolling. Really, now that we have discovered this little store front, we really never have to bemuse ourselves at any mega-Asian grocery store again over what brand we bought last time that was merely adequate but not great.
