Dr. Ellen Rogers Wagner is my eye doctor and provides excellent, quality care of my vision. Ellen is very professional, personable, and a friend who I trust with my eyesight and have been coming to Riverside for umpteen years and still will as long as Ellen is still practicing. I got some cool looking SHAQ distance eyeglasses and a nice pair of reading eyeglasses including good solid cases to protect them. In addition, I got the low-cost insurance for both pair of eyeglasses as it is peace of mind. A couple of times I needed some serious frames adjustments and new nose pieces that turned green. Insurance covered everything. The folks in the eyeglass area sure helped me a lot especially with feedback on the eyeglasses! And the preliminary eye screening before Ellen was superb, too! I hope the pictures on the wall in the waiting area and the fish aquarium return because they gave me (TOJ) Tingles of Joy seeing people with their pets and beautiful, brightly colored fish swimming. I've been going to My Eye Doctor in Riverside for over 10 years now and really like Dr Wagner. I feel that I get very good care from her. But, I am totally frustrated with the billing for my last eye exam nearly 10 months ago. For past visits I pay a co-pay and Medicare picks up the balance. Isn't working this time! I'm still getting billed for the full balance and I get no answers from the office. Their billing is through a national company and I just can't get this resolved. They take my info and say they'll get back with me, but months go by with no answers. I'll probably choose another eye doctor for future eye care! read more

I have had the most unpleasant experience with this place. I wasn't going to leave a review at all, but my pick up experience was just as poor as my initial appointment. First, I'm hesitant about going to get glasses anyway because of many bad experiences with other places. Something always goes wrong, but it's usually with them getting my prescription wrong or my glasses just not fitting to my desire, which results in me having to make another trip or not wearing my glasses at all because they hurt my ears. I've only truly had one great experience with going to an optometrist and that was in Statesboro, GA at My Eye Doctor. I chose to go to My Eye Doctor here in Jacksonville solely because of that. This time, I go in and the optometry tech and the actual doctor were awesome. They were kind, social, and did their jobs well. The receptionist was also great. My bad experience was with the "sales associates" both after my eye exam and when picking up my glasses. Everything feels unorganized. I notice that the little stations with mirrors and computers are primarily used as a waiting area. No one ever comes over and sits down with you and assists you. It was like this both times. First time, I was stuck between 2 different shapes of glasses. I have only gotten rectangle shaped. I asked the sales associate who was supposed to be ordering my glasses if she thought round would look okay with my face shape. It's a pretty generic question, as certain glasses are made for certain shaped faces. She didn't even respond to my question; she just responded "Hmm" and said "I don't know" to both pairs and I honestly got the impression that she didn't care to assist me with any of that, so I quickly just picked the more rounded glasses. It took her a long time to get my insurance straight and then she never told me what treatments are available for the lens, never offered blue light filtered lenses or scratch resistant coating. I had to ask for it before she put the order in. I then asked "Okay, so do they do measurements and adjustments when I come to pick up the glasses?" and she said "Yes". I was told it could take up to 2 weeks for my glasses to arrive. The portal never changed. It kept saying "in the works" for the whole 2 weeks, including today. I called today and waited a long time for them to check and they said "Yes, your glasses are ready." I never got a text or anything saying they were ready; I had to call and get that info. Today, I go in around 3PM after I get off work and there were 5 people, including myself waiting at the stations. Someone comes out after 10 minutes and asks "What are you guys waiting on?" 1 waiting for adjustments, 3 waiting for someone to order their glasses, and me waiting to pick up my glasses. A young guy came out, never sat down in front of me, and just opened my eyeglasses case and waited for me to grab them. I put them on and he says "have a nice day". I was so confused. I asked "Wait; I thought these were supposed to be adjusted?" and he asked "Oh, are they too loose or too tight?" And I responded "They're a little crooked on my face". He takes them from me and goes to the back and returns with them. They were still the same. I don't think he even actually adjusted them, but I was over the experience by this point. I ended up picking a pair of glasses that are comfortable for me to wear this time, the doctor got my prescription perfect too. That's the only positive thing I can say. The staff that assist with purchasing glasses and "adjustments" need work on every level. 5 stars for the doctor, optometry tech, and receptionist. 1 star for the other staff. read more

Waited forever as I watched 2 people that came in AFTER me get waited on first. Seemed to me one person was doing it all. And the others were just dragging along. We have been patients here for ages. Seems to have gone downhill. Husband called them and said he would be 10 mins late and they wouldn't honor his appointment and said he would have to reschedule (which was only a few days later - to their credit). Once he was seen, his glasses took 2 months to come in. So you can't see a patient that will be 10 mins late but it's totally ok to make that patient wait 2 months for new glasses? Hopefully this is a one off from them, but definitely not happy with how that went down. read more

My initial visit was fine, both technicians was very pleasant and the doctor kind also. However when it was time for me to pickup my glasses things changed. I don't know rather she was tied or just having a bad day. She just laid my glasses on the table in front of me not saying a word. I finally picked them up and placed them on my face . I was waiting on her to size up the glasses to see if they fit ok. She just sat their not saying a word. I finally ask her for something that I could read to test out the glasses strength. She simply said oh and reached in the drawer in front of her and laid a reading chart in front of me. At that point I just wanted to leave because it was clear to me she did not want to wait on me, I never been treated so coldly. I will never return to that office again not by my choice. I am having some difficulties with the fit of my glasses and will rather go back into my pockets and pay someone new to fix my problem. I understand exactly what was going on in that office. This was our first visit to My Eye Dr. and While I really liked the doctor that did our exam for both my son and I. This review is regarding My Eye Dr. unethical business practices that they are well aware of (and doing) that is against the law! According to the Federal Trade Commission it is against the law for the Optometrist to not hand over your Rx at the time of service. YOU DO NOT NEED TO ASK FOR IT. THEY SHOULD BE HANDING IT OVER BECAUSE IT IS YOURS. I didn't know this at the time (we are new to wearing glasses)of service and waited over an hour for our Rx to be faxed so we could order glasses some place else for my son (they had a very small selection of children's frames at Mt Eye Dr. and shopped around). So you can imagine how irritated I became waiting for our Rx and watching the staff at the other place just hand over the Rx to the patients there after their exams. That's when I found out about My Eye Dr. shady business practice and called the m out on it. my Eye Dr. receptionist stated it was "just their policy." (TO BREAK THE LAW?!?! I would give it a 0 or below if I could, the Atlantic Blvd office has gone down hill ever since Dr. Houser retired, office personal rude, none experience on how Insurance Companies work and made me pay, even so I am insured 100%, now I have to fight getting my money back, when they are overpaid by my Insurance Co. Is anyone here within the program of doing the right thing ? Have been getting eye glasses from optometrists for the last 55 years and have never , ever encountered any issues , until going to a place called MY EYE DR. ., Am blind in my right eye , so these ppl are suppose to use polycarbonate lens , making the non functional eye lens clear , yet my eye Dr made it cloudy , as I told the rep on day one when I picked up my glasses , she replied try them for a cpl weeks and see how they work out . I tried them out for a month , still cloudy , so I brought them back and the manager didn't see where they were cloudy , sad that a manager of a optometrist office cannot see , smh . So , suggested they put the same prescription on my other 2 pairs of glasses that have a cloudy lens on the same prescription as my working eye . After having issues getting a ride to the optometrist , as I pointed out to the manager , she says they will be ready , AGAIN IN 2 weeks . The saga continues ! After 1 week was told my eyewear are ready , called and confirmed after a text and a email that my glasses are ready . After again having to try to get a ride to pick up my glasses , I get there and the rep hands me my glasses , as soon as she does the lens pop out of the frame . Unbelievable ! So the rep leaves for about 10-15 minutes to repair the glasses that I made the mistake of believing they had corrected their mistakes . WRONG ! It gets even better , when I ask where the other pair is that I've paid for , and she says you can pick up the other pair in another week . Wtf ! I've already explained that getting a ride there is an issue and now there having me make a fourth trip to pick up my glasses . How does one of the largest optometrists stay in business . Was told by customer relations , now about 2 weeks ago I would be contacting me and have yet to hear from anyone . Does anyone within your establishment care about customer satisfaction. The saga continues as after getting my second pair , now my wife's glasses broke after a week of her wearing the glasses . The frame broke ! Then when my wife brings them back to My Eye Dr. , they have the audacity to tell her they will give her 40 percent off on another frame ! Is this what My Eye Dr. calls customer service , because it's surely not customer satisfaction ! So , once again after calling My Eye doctor and using the term "My " very loosely . Speaking with a rep again , very upset , they are replacing these cheap frames that I was charged hundreds for , even after my insurance coverage at no charge and acting like their doing me a favor . Offering me a warranty for an additional 29 per glasses . Then offering the warranty at no charge . SMH . These cheap frames must be some type of cheap Chinese material , ( not what I'm being charged for at top dollar ! ) Hopefully this will be the last time I will ever have to contact the customer relations department !!! With its close proximity to my work, it was really convenient for me. Upon my first visit I was really impressed. Excellent friendly staff, wait times were minimal and everyone was friendly and professional. This happened because the obviously do not have a review process in place either prior to submitting the order to glass maker or the maker has no review process prior to sending out order. Made a mistake coming here. It has been 4 weeks since the eye exam and still no glasses. My everyday glasses have progressive lenses but I discovered that standard bifocals work best for reading music. Decided to update the 4 years old bifocals before rehearsals began again. I gave a cushion of two weeks for the glasses to come in. Since ordering we've had 3 rehearsals, a 2 day clinic, and now a performance in a few days. Struggling to say the least. Called last week and was told I should receive by Friday. Update: Friday came and went, no glasses. So now into week 5 and received notice of pending delivery from UPS today, Thursday. Tomorrow will be 5 weeks. Really hope the lenses are correct. Can't deal with another 5 weeks without them while waiting on a do over. read more

We saw Dr. Will Smith who was awesome with my daughter and did a great, thorough but efficient job without rushing and explaining everything. Their whole staff is impressive from check in (short hair black female who was super friendly) to initial eye test/optomap with the white dark haired female with tattoos to Dr. Smith to the gentleman who helped us find a pair of glasses and check out. I was nervous about my eye exam because I hadn't been to an optometrist since I was really young and I had a terrible experience when I went. So when I was in the waiting room I know I definitely looked afraid. Each person I came into contact with assured me that things have changed and they aren't as bad as they used to be. They were right! Everyone was extremely friendly and patient with my concerns which made me feel super comfortable and I ended up feeling silly for being so nervous in the first place. I felt the doctor spent enough time with me and answered all my questions and explained her examination process fully. The office is nicely decorated with lovely art and photos. I ended up needing reading glasses and the staff in eye wear are really welcoming as well. They take into account your wants and needs when it comes to comfort and style but they aren't afraid to offer suggestions or their own advice either. (That is usually a plus for me) I am really happy to give them my business because they are the best. read more

MyEyeDoc messed up on my progressive glasses, I re-scheduled went back and was informed by the woman they sat me down with, that I had not gone with the more expensive model and that it was 'normal' to not see worth a darn with the cheaper/standard glasses. The Doctor grabbed me, tested me wearing the glasses and wrote an upgraded prescription. I received new glasses a few weeks later and they exceed expectations. Can't call because they put you on perpetual hold with a long and annoying promotional recording.
