We were shown samples of Mohawk carpet at our house and we chose "Homefront 3" (the highest quality) but we were deceived and forced to accept an inferior quality but same color carpet to be installed. We also asked them verbally and in writing many times to bring the same samples shown to us before at our house along with the carpet we chose to be installed first before the installation so that we can match what we chose and we would be getting, but this highly rude owner (David Simon) of this company not only refused to do so as per agreement but also compelled us to come to his showroom again and see the sample and the carpet there which made no sense because he could have shown us any thing to there which did not mean that we would be getting the same carpet we chose to be installed at hour house. But having no choice and paying half money in advance in cash (he preferred to be paid by cash) we went to his showroom and he showed a small (about 8X10 feet) piece of carpet of the same color with no manufacturer's specification on it which seemed lesser in thickness and quality, so we refused to accept it. At that point he started yelling at us and he was very disrespectful with my wife. When we demanded our money back, not only he refused to do so but also challenged us to do whatever we can. We left his showroom with disappointment and regret why we chose to do business with this company. Having no choice again, we decided to accept the inferior quality carpet he was trying to sell. So, my wife called him to agree with him, but at this point he was more ruder and dictatorial and said that he does not trust us (we are senior citizens) and if we have to install the carpet I do not know when it would be installed but if we agree to do so. you have to pay the remaining half money in advance in cash. This was another violation of the sales agreement (by way the the sales agreement this company wrote for us without our consent has no terms and conditions on it in case either party defaults or want to cancel or to seek amendment in it). We felt like a hostage at this point and kept thinking what to do to get out of this enforced mess on it. Finally we requested an attorney from a church to seek help. This attorney is a nice man but very old and retired an we did not know his license was inactive and not able to take this company to court. He was of no help and for some reasons spoke in favor of this mighty company and told us to avoid being sued by this company. Now it is more than two months this company is not only holding our money illegally but demanding more money and threatening to sue us because he knows it is going to cost us more to go to court, and when as matter of fact neither this company ever delivered and installed the carpet we chose at our house nor even followed the flawed sales agreement it wrote for us. For some reasons there are many reviews in favor of this company but please read the reviews of a few victims of this company specially when it comes the review Ms. Nancy S. Anytime I tried to reach the company, "Johnny J" (owner) always answered, friendly as could be. He explained the process from beginning to end, starting with why the wood needs a couple days in the home before installation. I don't know much about installing floors but I really felt like he was doing it right and not rushing to make the sale or get it done. The workers were fast and meticulous when it came to their work and cleanliness. I paid a extra to have them rip out the carpet, something I could have done my own, but nice to have someone else do for you and haul it away. Choosing a color stain was a challenge and I probably annoyed "Johnny" with my indecision, but ultimately with his advice I chose the best color for my home. Dogs and Hardwood Floors... I have TWO large dogs and they are rough on the floors but you would never know it. They've held up beautifully and again, Johnny's experience came into play as he consulted me with what finish to go with that would show the least amount a "dog nail" wear and tear. If you're in the market or having a tough time picking between two installers, I don't think you can go wrong with All American Hardwood Floors. They were not the cheapest bid I received and the were not the most expensive... I shopped around and they were extremely competitive. The owner seems like a very respectable hardworking family man. We picked Nick's company based the glowing reviews largely found on thumbtack unfortunately I have…read morenot been able to find away to review the company on that platform. Our experience did not live up to those reviews. The good * Customer Service was always prompt * Had good availability * Brought in a large team * Was overall good with clean up * Got most of the work (over 1000sq) done in one day * The price was very reasonable * The Bad * The craftsmanship isn't great * Owner blamed the new guy for the problems * Had to be called back and should come back again for more problems that were covered up by furniture * The project felt rushed, they did all but closet and other minor things out of 1300sq * Poor craft meant we out more $ on product as we had pre purchased it. * He's quickly agreed on two occasions to come out and look at the issues, and no showed each time. We had flooring installed Early November. Everything was great before and during the project being installed. We were told surprisingly it would take a 1-2 days, what we didn't know was how big the crew was and that they would lean hard into that 1 day. I will say we did have to much stuff for a project that moved this quickly, but Nick was made aware and said it wouldn't be an issue. I had decided I would stain the quarter round that was replaced after the flooring was installed myself. I was able to get to two rooms right away and noticed a handful of bad cuts, especially on the edges. Most notably a whole closet had to be reinstalled. I prefer giving the benefit of the doubt so it wasn't a huge deal, I know I have made my own share of mistakes. Lucky I had noticed this within a few days of the flooring install and it was fixed within a week. Life and holidays got in the way so the rest of the quarter round went untouched for a month probably a little more. When I did finally get to it I found many more issues. Including a bad cut that ran a good part of the length of the loft. Bad but not the worst. The biggest deal is that in this time two boards had also split at the threshold (we've been told by a friend of friend the whole room would have to be relayed to fix the issue) of one of the doors. A location that had already been repaired from the first time I found issues. I am doing these renovations on behalf of my Mom so I take a lot of responsibility that good results happen, and this has been close to a worst case scenario for me. After finding all the additional issues, I reached out to Nick early February to have them repaired. He responded saying he would come out and look at the problem to have them fixed, he no showed. I am not interested in chasing down companies to do the job they should have done to start. I'd decided to wait a month to see if I would hear from Nick before writing this review, it's been well over that month and I never heard from him. As a last ditch effort not to post this I reached out again on Friday and again he agreed and then no showed. The real kicker is we had planned to do the downstairs, (about 1300sq) and it was Nicks to have. Unfortunately there was no reasonable way to move forward given the results we got on the second floor. While in the scheme of life I wish nothing but the best for Nick and his team, I wrote this review in the hopes that it can be a teaching moment for the company and provide an honest account for anyone looking to hire for floor installations. My other hope is that our experience was a one off or can be a one off by posting this. As I mentioned, he has glowing reviews on Thumbtack, unfortunately it doesn't seem that I can post this there because we didn't hire through that platform.
