This is seriously the loudest hotel I've been in, in a while. The walls are paper thin, and the construction outside, along with a noisy housekeeping crew inside, neighbors, etc, it's not worth it. I was exhausted & checked in, went straight to bed, and was woken up by a staff member knocking on my door, then 4 more times by loud banging, and conversations I could hear through the walls. Love! My husband and I stayed the night for Valentine's Day and we couldn't have been happier. The reception staff was extraordinarily welcoming and friendly which was a great way to start our stay. The hotel sent up chocolate covered strawberries and chilled Prosecco with a lovely note after we arrived and then gave us credits for a nice breakfast in bed the following morning. I do wish our room had a bathtub since I am a bath girl but, otherwise, it was perfect! I can't wait to stay again! read more

As a frequent traveler, I am thoroughly impressed with the entire staff at the W Hotel. Kaleb and Marcus at the front desk remember the smallest of details from previous stays and always follow up on requests in a timely manner. Nicole in Concierge was so helpful and her suggestions were perfect. Christopher and Scott in event planning were very accommodating with our requests for an upcoming client meeting and when you dine at Trace, you must request Javier. He remembered my order and preference in wine after only 1 time. If you're working with high profile clientele and looking for a place to go that can ensure your privacy, the security team is incredibly well trained and professional. James and Jeff make sure their team looks out for everyone that is there to enjoy the W experience. It is definitely my home away from home. read more

Superb! I can't say enough about this hotel, its staff, and the warm welcome that my husband and I received. Caleb C. treated us like superstars as soon as we stepped in the hotel - the service was the best we've had in a very, very long time. When we arrived, our reservation was not in the system for some reason, and the staff provided us with complimentary drinks, a food discount, and just great service while they set us up. The room that we stayed in was modern, sleek, and the perfect setting for our 2-night stay. The hotel is located right in the middle of everything - great restaurants, 6th Street, and SoCo. And, if you want to go anywhere within 5 miles, you can ask the hotel's private car to take you there. Whatever we needed, the staff provided personalized attention to us, and we couldn't be more grateful. read more

The hotel itself is very nice. The bath products are great. The valet service is very unorganized, and the girl at the front desk was very unfriendly. Brandon in whatever and whenever is AMAZING!!! He is the only reason I am giving this hotel 3 stars. When I called downstairs,he came up to the room to fix our phone within five minutes. We called down for a couple other things and he made us feel like the most important people in the hotel. The entire staff should take lessons from him on how to treat the guests. We did not have time to utilize other areas of the hotel, but I will stay again, and hopefully have a better experience with the front desk check in, and valet service. read more

The hotel is lovely. However, when I tried to book a room on a wedding rate, reservations told me those were sold out but I could pay more than twice as much. Turns out, plenty of wedding rate rooms were available, but I had to get the hosts involved to straighten it out. After all that, when I checked in, they said I booked TWO rooms. No. Then, a day after I checked out, they had added $ to my bill for snacks I didn't eat. The hosts left a basket of snacks for the guests - why would I eat the overpriced room snacks? Basically, it's a nice, overpriced hotel that is interested only in bloating your bill. If you stay there, watch your credit card statement! read more

When I checked in they did not have the class of room I was booked into. They offered me a lower class and said they would adjust the rate. When I went to check out they had not adjusted the rate. They then sent me a bill by email and the rate was still not adjusted. So now I am having to follow up again. I stay at this w about every six weeks. It is a very nice setting but they did a terrible job of handling this. I also stay at the four seasons sometimes and the service is there simply better. read more

All the staff were friendly and greeted me whenever I passed by. I was pleasantly surprised to not encounter any snobby staff, although one person at the valet parking stand was kind of rude one day. I stayed in a "Spectacular" double queen room on the 15th floor with great view of the lake and the bridges. I loved the modern decor and the Bliss products in the bathroom. There was no door to the sink and shower part of the bathroom. But you can request a privacy curtain to he installed. The toilet is separated by a door that locks. The shower booth leaked water out onto the floor from a corner. So I had to put bunch of towels in that area. The complimentary coffee/tea in the morning and fruit-infused water available throughout the day in the lobby were nice. I also noticed that they switched out the floor mats in front of the elevators throughout the day, that say 'Good Morning', 'Good Afternoon', or 'Good Evening' depending on the time of day. The spa and their staff were great, except for the locker/shower/lounge area that is shared by all people using the spa, pool and the gym. Because of the frequent use and lack of upkeep, the snacks/drinks for the spa guests were not replenished well, the amenities baskets at the sink/mirror area were dirty, and used towels were left in the showers as well as the locker area. I asked for the Texas resident discount, but My room was billed full charge. I had drinks in the lounge, which its atmosphere was like an overcrowded mini nightclub. I thought it was weird and funny to see bunch of girls in their early twenties dancing with drinks in their hands and all crowded in the tiny library part of the lounge. The drinks that my friend and I had were just ordinary, and not as good as I was expecting based on the price. read more

Great hotel! Great service from staff at all levels. Me and my friend went for 2 nights to party it up....had cabanas and bottle service by the pool both days. Sabrina was our waitress and she was amazing. Zach was the manager that pulled it all together for us. The food at the hotel was really good too. Stephanie served us at brunch Saturday and she had a great personality...perfect for a recovery meal. We had room 1619 which was a 2 bedroom corner luxury suite, simply amazing! read more

What a disappointment. Room was very small. Bed was comfortable enough but then for $400 per night it should. Every time we took a shower the fire alarm in our room would go off. The front desk did offer us a drink from the bar for our trouble. A drink was not enough to soothe the anxiety caused by the shrill alarm and aggravation. The room was not well "soundproofed" from the bars in the area. We could easily hear music up until midnight from all of the outdoor bands in the area. The service was amazing from the time we pulled up to the time we left. We were greeted at very well at the valet. It only got better once we got inside. It was my wife and I first vacation together without the kids. I booked us a room using a discount hotel app then called to upgrade to a nicer room. Javier, the manager working the desk, asked us about our trip to them and then upgraded us to a nicer room for free without us asking or anything. I want to think it was bc he understood it was a getaway for us. He then called the concierge over to make dinner reservations for us(she recommended Sophia's; great place!). The gentleman that took our luggage to our room showed us around the room and pointed out things to do from the window. When he heard about our dinner reservations, he arranged(without us asking) to use the company vehicle to give us a ride to dinner. And on the way, he was still giving us recommendations. The next morning, we saw Javier and the same gentleman that took us to dinner and they both asked us how our night was and was there anything they could do for us. We showed up in jeans and flannel shirts to this nice hotel so they weren't treating us overly nice bc we looked like we are rich or special. The room was clean and quiet. The view was great. The staff was great. Even in the bar staff was great. I highly recommend this hotel! read more

I'm done with the Four Seasons Austin, I will only stay here from now on. We got a pretty good rate via priceline, but upon check in they couldn't find the reservation. The lovely receptionist got my confirmation number, went to a secret back location to talk to the manager, and after about four minutes of my life that we will simply never get back, they bring us champagne and upgrade us to a tenth floor larger room facing the river! Please, can you go ding my car too, I want more love! The valets were extremely efficient, the staff attentive, above and beyond. Our room was spotless and gorgeous if somewhat spartan, but that's the vibe. We used the complimentary car drop off to go to SoCo, incredible! We used the gym every day, and it is one of the finest we've used in our pretty extensive travels. You can't beat the location, don't even try. The bar and living room are so groovy, and the drinks served first rate. This hotels SMELLS GOOD everywhere. They change the elevator mats 3 times daily from good morning to afternoon to evening. CUTE! I do think they could use some Four Seasons attention to small imperfections on wallpaper (scuffed), but what I really think it needs is better clientele. Obviously some hillbilly scuffed the wallpaper and left trash in inappropriate places, so the place looks worse. The staff did take care of trash, I just hate it when people like this are attracted to places I stay. I can't wait to go back, must figure out how they can ruin another four minutes of my life by forcing me to stand around the gorgeous lobby! read more

This review is strictly for an event I hosted at the W. The event was held in the Record Room, which is a comfortable, nicely furnished area, with great ambiance. The food was delicious, however the service was approaching terrible. There was no water or ice for people who did not want wine, which required my special request to get that accomplished. Several times I found it necessary to run back to the Trace area trying to find our service manager in order to get more food brought up. Not finding the service manager, I left messages with Trace personnel. This was usually followed by a 15-20 minute period before the request was fulfilled. About two and a half hours into the event, two thirds of the guests had left by the time they finally brought the beautifully decorated cake forward for the dessert, then several more had left before they finally managed to get some cake "plated" for consumption. The plating occurred about 15 minutes after I again went back to find our service manager to ask "Do you think we might be able to get a knife, some forks, and some saucers for serving the cake?" That's when I was told that the cake had only been placed on the table for "presentation" and that they would take the cake back to the kitchen for plating. The guests had a good time while there, but the event took place on a Saturday morning, and most had to be getting back to kids and other responsibilities. I ended up giving a couple of the guests about a third of the cake each to take home. I couldn't take it home with me as it was not gluten free. As I write this review, I find myself getting angry all over again, despite that it has been weeks since the event was held. If it hadn't been for the poor service, this would have been a five star review. I had to vacillate between a two and three star rating. Too bad I couldn't give it 2.5 stars. To top it off, no one from the W called in follow up to ask how the event went. The only thing that happened to let me know that they hadn't forgotten me was the large bill to my credit card. read more

This hotel chain prides itself on urban chic. It has that for sure along with a stuck up attitude, but so many details are messed up. There was either mold or something was sprayed on the ceiling over the bed. I was charged $31 for a room item that I did not use. They made the charge to my account while we were still there. They agreed to remove the charge, but said it would take five business days. There are beautiful, though too dark furnishings in the lobby and room. The shower is huge, but it lacked shower volume and was loud. You have to request a coffee machine (at no extra charge) because it is not included in the room. The air conditioner rattlling in the room woke me up each time it started up. We got a repair visit before retiring, but the problem stopped before he arrived. Like most 4-star hotels, they charge $20 to use the internet. This should be included in the exorbitant room rate. Even getting this room at 1/3 of the normal rate through Priceline was not cheap enough. To sum up, It has plenty of glitz, but has blown all of the little things. For their sake, I hope management does something about it. I would feel downright robbed if I had to pay $300 for the night. read more

It's 8:30am and I leave my house on bike and head to the W, where I have a meeting in the lobby at 9am. I arrive, as planned, at 8:50am. But, F*ck!, I left my bike lock's key at home! I'm such a moron! This meeting is important and I CANNOT reschedule. What do I do? I can't go back home and I can't go to work to stow the bike without missing the meeting. I can't leave my bike unlocked somewhere: it's expensive and I can't afford to replace it right now if it were stolen. Think think think. What's another idea? Maybe the valet guy will let me put my bike somewhere. As warmly as possible, I approach the guy with bike click-click-clicking in tow, and I ask. He can't help me but the concierge will, no problem! Phew! What a relief! The concierge is understanding and takes my bike without hesitation or condescension and puts it . . . somewhere. I make the meeting and secure myself a new job, which may not have happened without the help of those two employees. The W still isn't a place I'd patronize for room or drinks with friends, but, because of the helpfulness of those two employees, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in downtown Austin. read more
