Lovely hotel in the heart of downtown. Very convenient spot and easy to walk to main attractions. We were able to get a corner room (not a suite but still very nice) with an amazing view of the lake. The room was clean and well appointed. My only complaint/concern is this hotel is going with the new trend of thin frosted glass slider doors for the toilet room. Not enough privacy!!! Please go back to a regular door. The staff were really helpful and friendly, both on check in and departure. Because they have amazing, fancy elevators, they escort you to the elevator bank and show you how to use them. What a nice touch! My only other word of caution: DOUBLE CHECK YOUR BILL/FOLIO prior to checking out. We had an additional $161.50 USD for a restaurant charge. We didn't eat at this restaurant and upon inquiry, it was an error and the server had charged to us but it was supposed to have been on a room with a similar room number. Stay vigilant as I was advised it wasn't the first time it had occurred with this staff member. Would we stay here again though? Yes, absolutely. The hotel is located in downtown Austin. We choose to rent a car instead of valet parking because the hotel was charging about $75/ daily. This hotel looked nice from the outside. It had a upscale feel as well. The staff were professional and friendly. One of them helped us with our bags and brought them up to the room. My toddler even got a cute bat stuffed animal from the concierge/front desk. Our room was nice but i wish the closet was a little bigger. We stay here again, I think it would be best to get a king size bed instead of 2 queen beds. I felt that with the 2 beds it made the room feel cramped. Also, I wish our hotel room view wasn't of a construction site. We booked multiple rooms for my family. My parents and sister had some bathroom issues in their rooms which was unfortunate. The hotel also messed up the billing of our rooms a little. Make sure you get everything sorted out before you leave. The restaurant and bar areas in the lobby were nice. The lobby area was nice and felt upscale but with a friendly vibe. We stayed here because we were attending some events there. read more

My husband's annual company party was held in Austin so our family decided to make a weekend trip out of it. Our room had two queen size beds and it was equipped with basic toiletry and a mini refrigerator. The room was spacious and clean. WiFi is free for Marriott members. The location was very convenient for us. It is close to a few places that we wanted to check out. On-site parking is valet only (with in-and-out privileges) but it is $75 per night. Luckily there are more affordable options nearby such as the convention center at $15 for overnight parking but there are no in-and-out privileges. I did not realize the convention center has more than one parking garage. On our first night, we parked at the parking garage by 4th Street and it is 8-minute walk to Austin Marriott. Normally, that is an easy walk. However, it was during a time when Austin was expecting a winter storm so temperatures were frigid and there was icy rain. On our second night, we parked at the parking garage by 2nd Street and we only had to cross the street to get to our hotel. read more

I stayed at the Austin Marriott Downtown and overall had a very good stay. Booked a king room with a city and pool view, and the views were amazing, definitely a highlight. As an elite member, I appreciated the perks, including free high-speed Wi-Fi, a $25 daily food credit, and free coffees, which added nice value to the stay. At its current rates, I think the hotel is decently priced for a downtown Austin location, though I hope prices don't go much higher. Service was generally friendly, but there were a few delays. In-room dining was slow - I called around 8 a.m. twice with no answer, and once the order was placed it took about 25 minutes for the food to arrive. Additionally, the front desk phone can be busy and hard to reach at times, which affected the overall experience and is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. That said, the staff was consistently nice and friendly in person. The valet attendant, Artem, was especially helpful and friendly and assisted us with bringing our luggage up. The staff at Load & Vine were also very welcoming and pleasant. A luxury hotel. My room wasn't ready even though I was checking in after 4:00. I have never had that happen before. It was really disappointing since I had left California at the crack of dawn and was two hours late due to flight delays. I was attending a conference and the first event was just a few hours away so all I wanted to do was clean up and get out of my heavy clothes since it was over 90 degrees. The lobby was crowded so there was little room to wait with my suitcase. Eventually, I got a room after making a plea to the person supervising the check in line when I was inquiring about checking my bag so I didn't have to drag it all over the hotel. The room was smaller than I expected but clean and modern. But the first night was rough. The smoke alarm was blinking so much it was steadily lighting up the room at 1:15 AM. The engineer stuck blue duct tape to cover up the light and left it at that for my entire stay. Later on that night, I noticed the refrigerator was gurgling so I went to unplug it. However, I couldn't reach the plug because it was behind the large armoire. When I moved the refrigerator, I noticed there were puddles under it. They ended up putting new one under the desk which made it hard to sit at the desk. It was fun to be in the midst of the Formula One madness but it was also difficult to get to and from the hotel. We purchased tickets for the Diana Ross concert in support of Hutson Tillotson's (HT) 150th anniversary. We were happy to support HT's fundraiser and it's 150th anniversary. HT has some significant expansion plans for their university. The evening's theme was futuristic. This was one of best orchestrated fundraising events we have attended. Not sure if Austin Marriott or HT or both were responsible for planning this memorable event. The event began on the 2nd. Floor. You were greeted by super tall robots, aliens serving passed appetizers and women swinging on circles out of this world. Food included included lamb, Bruschetta, chicken and beef sliders, beef skewers and salad cups. They had a DJ spinning tunes with a dance floor totally activated. They ended with a futuristic fashion show. Then there was a seated dinner of roast beef, mashed potatoes and broccolini along with rolls. Dinner was followed by a chocolate mousse. The food quality was high from the appetizers to the plated meal. Diana Ross is legendary and was phenomenal!!! She's 82 years old and is still performing at a high level. It's like the Austin Marriott knew I would not be back for a while - Austin has been my second home for the last several years as it's where I work - but sadly that is about to change as I now work more locally so it was lovely to get here to a beautiful upgraded room! Got a large corner room with floor to ceiling walls that wraps two of the walls - stunning views of Town Lake and the Cityscape! Lovely bedroom area with a desk and sofa that looks out over the city , comfortable bed, wall mounted TV and corridor leading to bathroom area! Loved the room, loved the views and love the gifts that they leave for Ambassador level ! A very okay experience. I stayed her while on a weekend business trip. Accommodations were provided by my organization. Upon check-in (early), the concierge made me feel like they were doing me a huge favor by letting me check in early. It was an "ick". The room itself is strange. You walk into a bathroom section. Toilet has a stall with a door, the shower is clear glass with no other protective door so anyone who enters can just see you in the shower. The sink/vanity is in the hallway vestibule. Additionally, there is very little light in this area so its not great lighting for doing your hair/make up. My room had a very nice view of the city and the pool below. The building's elevators are frustrating and not all the touch pads work. Sometimes you will be waiting for quite a few minutes to get picked up from your floor. Overall, in a downtown area saturated with a range of hotels, I do not think I'd stay here again. read more

One of the best Marriott hotels I have ever been to in the US! It's in a good location to explore the downtown. You can easily walk to 6th Street where all of the music is playing in about 10 minutes. The capital building is also in walking distance. They have a large gym and rooftop pool with a few restaurants and bars. If you're a gold member or higher, this is the place to stay they treat members very well and the best that I have experienced as platinum. The lounge is ok they have some standard food and drinks but no alcohol. The staff are very friendly and we're helping when I accidentally left some valuables in my room after checking out. Parking is valet and quite expensive so using ride share is a good option. read more

Our check in, valet, and checkout were super easy and very customer friendly. We had access to the M lounge which is always great for coffee, tea, snacks, and breakfast. My family and are genuinely impressed by nearly every aspect of this hotel. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with smiles and polite gestures. We wanted to switch our room immediately upon checking in to get a better view and the assistant manager, Ricky, obliged us with both a better view of downtown, courtesy drink voucher, and continued to check in with us throughout our stay. The rooms are incredibly clean and the beds are actually comfortable. They have a VIP lounge for an additional $20 a day and it was so worth it! Especially with our 5 year old who consistently requires snacks to function (ha). We never stay in hotels more than once as we like to mix it up when we travel but we will undoubtedly stay here again next time we visit. Thanks for a great stay!! read more

Wow! Everyone is so nice here. Visited for a conference and stayed on the 27th floor. The rooms were well kept though no refrigerator. However they will bring you one if you ask for it. Check in was seamless. The hotel walked me through how to use their fancy elevators. The meeting spaces were very spacious and accommodating to the large conference. I like that the hotel replaced bottles of water every day in the room. Only 4 but it's better than nothing. Close to Congress Ave for walking and shopping. read more

Absolutely loved our stay at Marriott downtown Austin. this hotel is particularly unique and definitely has its own signature. The staff are wonderful, rooms are updated and modern accommodations, but the food is definitely a notch above the rest. We had several compliments from our meeting guests about how they enjoyed the meals throughout the course of the week. I mean, who serves prosciutto as part of a lunch and absolutely nailed it. They also have a lovely little café OnArrival and the hot drinks are superb and very well done. I would absolutely highly recommend this Marriott to anybody who is staying personally or for business as there is a smooth balanced synergy within the entire hotel. I was in town for a work event and stayed at this Marriott downtown. Its a great location to all of the downtown restaurants, other hotels and event venues. A very nice hotel with clean, well decorated rooms. I had a nice room on a high floor that had a nice view of the surrounding downtown area. The elevators are a bit confusing to use until you understand how they work. And the hotel was busy with a convention so sometimes the elevators took forever. No refrigerator in the room which is the one drawback. The member club on the mezzanine level offered a nice breakfast which I had a couple of times. Overall a nice stay. read more

Absolutely awful. My husband and kids showed up to check into this hotel--a reservation we made TWO MONTHS ago--only to be told that the rooms we booked weren't available. Why? Because they overbooked and clearly don't care about honoring reservations, even for Platinum Elite members. We asked for a solution, expecting at least a shred of professionalism. The manager's response? "You'll need to find another hotel." No apology. No accountability. Just a shrug and a shove out the door--with children in tow. We scrambled, made some last-minute calls, and thankfully another nearby hotel had more decency and got us in. But the real red flag? The front desk person unapologetically told us that just because you book a room type doesn't mean you'll get it. Let that sink in. They're openly admitting that reservations mean absolutely nothing here. If you enjoy chaos, poor customer service, and being treated like an afterthought--book here. Otherwise, run. read more

I visit Austin frequently and always stay at Marriotts since I have status with them. I have stayed at 6 Mariotts in Austin: Austin Marriott Downton The JW Residence Inn The Courtyard The Otis Overall the hotel has a nice appearance with plenty of restaurant and bar space. Also super convenient to the Ann and Roy Butler hike and running trail. All the restaurants and bars a super convenient as well. The valet staff really stood out and is one of the best I have seen. They are fast and service oriented. They do an outstanding job of representing the hotel. They made sure to offer you a water and always greeted you with a smile. That is the best of the hotel. The M lounge is nice. They could use a honor bar to pair with the late night fare. They have a limit to 2 folks per room for the breakfast and they aggressively police it. We had 3 in our party and the attendant let us know it would be $30 for anyone over 3. We went to the front desk to ask if there was any leeway. It really went downhill from there. I am a titanium member that was staying on a military rate. The main desk attendant looked up my info and informed me that I was staying on a military rate and getting a good deal, and he would definitely not honor the request. I definitely get rules are rules, but this was handled poorly and I did not realize that a military rate means that you get service less than standard. We asked about the policy when we checked out and still received a fairly poor response. The front desk personnel are the frontline representation of hotel and this was a real negative. As far as the rooms they were clean and nice, but they are small. Overall, the convenience to downtown and fitness trails are plus. The valet staff is also a plus, those items raise it to a 3 (don't have half stars or I would rate 2.5) The rooms were small and front desk personnel lacked a service mindset. There are a few more Mariotts that I can stay in but this one is on the bottom. The JW is the best in town that I have stayed at. read more

3.5 Stars It's a newer hotel and that's noticeable in the technology they use and state of the rooms. There is a lovely hotel bar, a coffee shop, a restaurant and also a roof top Tiki bar inside the hotel which gives you plenty of options to get your food/drink on. Check in was stress-free and the staff was super friendly throughout my stay, even when an issue needed to be addressed. The rooms were clean and modern yet comfortable, including the comfortable bed. I slept like a baby. So why not 5 stars: -I was given an accessible room (so did other colleagues in our party) and the bathroom situation is not fantastic. Essentially the whole room is a wet room and while you shower the water will go everywhere. The shower curtain was pretty gross and way close to the shower head so contact was unavoidable. -The window curtain was very confusing. It was not fully manual but also lacked a remote control to fully open. -The pillows, which seems to be a recurring theme across all hotels, are just not stuffed enough to effectively support someone's head during sleep. I had to stack and fold them to give me some support. I would definitely stay here again, but it would have to be a non-accessible room. read more

TLDR. Disappointing. Stay at one of the other plentiful downtown hotels. I'm overall just disappointed with this Marriott property in terms of rooms and service. At check in, I was promised a room upgrade starting on the second night on my 5-night stay, but there was no follow up by any staff and I didn't get the upgrade. The lobby is tiny and the check in desk is just a couple tables plopped right next to the door. Sad. The room didn't have a mini fridge and was constantly humid. The rooftop area was constantly crowded with non-hotel guests and there wasn't any space reserved exclusively for hotel guests except for the poolside beach chairs which were always occupied and not shaded from the insanely hot Austin sun. You can sit in a shaded cabana but only if you reserve it in advance and pay extra. Finally, the hotel locks its doors after midnight because of concerns about homeless people walking in which is absurd. I live in NYC and no hotel does that. Just makes you feel like this place is grimy and they can't address the issue properly with appropriate staff. When I came in after midnight and misplaced my room key, I was grilled by overnight staff which was very confrontational and not what I'm looking for in what should be a pleasant and relaxing stay at over $300/night. I do not recommend staying here and suggest you stay at one of the other nicer 4-star hotels in the area which there are many, like the JW Marriott or the Fairmont. Apparently, 4-star hotel is an incredibly broad category and this Marriott is on the low end of the spectrum. read more

What a lovely hotel. The lobby boasts a couple bars and a restaurant. There is also a cool gift/snack shop. All the staff are friendly and informative. I was here for work and the meeting rooms and halls are beautiful. The food they provide for the attendees is top notch. The hotel, in its entirety, is immaculate. The rooms are simple, yet offer the creature comforts needed. I was able to go for a long walk along Lady Bird Lake, and there are lot of restaurants, cafes and sites within walking distance. Make sure to check out the Rooftop pool. It's very cool. The pool is by Zanzibar, a trendy bar that offers great drinks and nibbles. Also breathtaking views of the city can be seen from here. Very nice hotel. Will mark this as a favorite for the next time I'm in town. read more

This hotel has kind of ruined my Christmas plans. My husband and I stayed here from the 12th to 14th of December. When we arrived, we wanted to extend for one additional night, so that we could attend the Christmas party we were invited to on Sunday. Our room for Friday night was paid for already by a government contract, and so we were offered our room for the second night at the same exact price, $175. Unbeknownst to me, that includes valet and taxes and a bunch of made up fees which totaled our price for one room for one night to $270. Fine, whatever, it's a hotel in downtown. They actually charged me $299, and they charged it TWICE. They also charged me $200 for two nights of incidentals. So for one night at this hotel, I was charged $700. It was gone out of my bank account the second I tapped my card. It has been almost a full week since we stayed there, and the money is not back in my account. When I called them, they said it will be another 5 to 7 business days before the money is back in my account. It took them one second to drain me of $700 but it's going to take them two weeks to put $400 back in. Looks like nobody's getting any Christmas presents this year, because I won't have the money until after Christmas. I've never left a bad review before because it's never been justified, but seriously fuck this place. read more

Our stay was wonderful from the moment we checked in! Dianna at the front desk was accommodating and friendly and went out of her way to bring us up new keys because she thought ours may act up! The room was clean and decently sized for the price and the amenities were all appreciated. We were in town for a wedding/short stay so we didn't explore much, but the hotel was well placed near great restaurants and walking distance from a bunch of spots! We also sprung for access to the lounge and I would definitely recommend! The breakfast options were varied (eggs, oatmeal, cereal, etc) and accommodating to dietary restrictions without having to ask!!! And they were delicious. read more

From the valet staff to the front desk or the room service to housekeeping, everyone is lovely. Warmly welcomed and all were polite and gracious. The hotel was very clean and had that super secret but wonderful fragrance that fill the air at all Marriott hotel. My room was a bit smaller than I'd like - I felt crowded. First of all, Deborah at the front desk gave me the warmest hotel welcome I've ever had. Totally sincere - she told me about the hotel, amenities, restaurants, and offered to show me the way. Extra bottled water offered. She helpfully pointed out dining and elevators and explain their fancy dancy modern elevator system. The hotel has been open 14 months according to my info tour. Sharp, sleek, modern rooms. Albeit the king room is slightly smaller in footprint than at the JW where I stayed last. Great Northview on the 28th floor. Also enjoyed the pool area. It was considerably less crowded@ 5:00 than at the JW earlier this month. The tunes were bumping it was an excellent mix. The "tastes like summer" from Zanzibar was tasty and well-balanced. They offer no fuss drink service by the pool. The bed is perfect. For working space, everything I needed to focus and get some work done room. No clutter or unnecessary stuff. "Corinne" -- the sitdown breakfast restaurant-- is a nice space for a catchup-on-email quick bite. Black coffee and breakfast sandwich both solid. Surprised so quiet -- only 3 tables in an hour-- on this Friday morning. Overall, the Marriott's location for me is ideal; close proximity to both So Congress dining district: jump a Lime & cruise south into bicycle lane on the bridge. but also located right in the central business district for meetings. Booked this hotel for a business trip. I needed to be at the convention center for work and it was right across the street - very convenient and short walking distance. Lobby is very clean and modern looking. I worked at the long table every morning as it was the only table that was ergonomic and had charging outlets. The hotel should really put more of these tables as it would make a lot working people happy! Last thing to note about the lobby is the very loud music. If you need peace and quiet, then avoid the lobby at all cost. For me, minus when I had conference calls, the music was very motivational. This hotel offers a lot of dining options but one of the places I visited every day was LOAF + VINE. I came here for coffee before I start work for the day. For my first visit, I tried the drip coffee. It was a bit acidic to me and a bit disappointing. However, it is free refills so that's a plus! I found out the next day that they offer two different roasts for their drip coffee (medium and dark) and only dark roast for all espresso drinks. I played it safe and went with an Americano for the rest of the days I was here. It was way better than the drip coffee I had and was very smooth. I also liked how this place have medication and other necessity items. I found that to be really cool! The hotel overall is very clean and had friendly staffs. The unfortunate part is I always look at reviews before my stay and came across one that talked about the "moldy" blankets. I really crossed my fingers and hoped that was just a one off thing however it happened to me too. You see it especially when the sun is directly shining onto the blanket. It is very noticeable with the way the duvet cover is loosely tied to the duvet. I totally understand that all duvet will turn yellow over time due to body sweat and that it is not entirely mold but to actually see it in room, I was very uncomfortable to use my blanket throughout the duration of my stay. I did not sleep well and always looked forward waking up so I can be out of my room. I did call housekeeping to see if I can get lucky and get a clean one. One funny thing occurred. I told them that I had stains on my bedding and would like a new one. When they came by, they gave me a duvet as if they knew what my complaint was about. However, the duvet they gave me was worse than the one I had. Something tells me that they probably get this complaint a lot otherwise how did they know I was calling regarding the duvet and not the duvet cover, bottom sheet, or top sheet? Another con to this place is the elevator. I would say I probably waited a good 10 minutes for an elevator going to the lobby. The elevator they have here is not the typical elevators but those modern ones you see at hyperscaler companies - you hit what floor you want to go to and you get assigned a designated elevator. The way they program the elevators to work is not efficient and waste of time. It would've been better to just go with the normal one. Last con is the mobile key function on the app. It did not work for me whatsoever and it is just ridiculous to be offered anyways. You must have a physical card when using the elevator to go to your level otherwise you cannot have access. If only I didn't run into the bedding issue, this would totally been a 5 star for me! read more

For a C19/Omri 20 yr Anniversary Celebration, our pre planning was scuttled, unfortunately. Paris, France not Texas had to wait. In the make lemonade out of lemons moment, we chose a staycation in good ol down town Austin. Suzie mentioned that the new hotel where the Radisson used to be would be awesome in a suite overlooking town lake and the city. I left the booking up to her and that's when, just like our wedding day, hilarity pursued. As we drove up to the old Radisson location, the hotel was called The Line and not the Marriott... er.. what? Inadvertently, she had booked us in at the Marriott just down the street. This knocked us off our mojo and we circled back to check into the newly renovated Marriott Downtown. Shane checked us in and a very flustered Suzie was having a moment. Check in was a little choppy, mainly due to us be being befuddled with our reso's. We wanted to be on the top floor, not available, however the Presidential Suite was offered up for $400 more a night... er no. After confusing banter, I just said we will take the room we booked and on we went. Did receive a couple of credit vouchers for Zanzibar, which was closed due to weather and another $15 off to spend anywhere on the property. Shane showed us to the elevators and off we went. Room/Accommodations. Room was pretty spacious and well appointed, apart from only one cup for the coffee machine and no do not disturb sign. Suzie was still saddened by the whole scene we created and declared coming out of the bathroom crying.. "This isn't anything special! It's a convention hotel room!" Which led me to burst out laughing and giving her a big hug. And her gifty for our Anniversary. It really was fine; clean, decent corridor view, modern features, comfy bed, quiet and the TV were all on point. Her sister who came in town to celebrate with us, had a room on the top level of the hotel, better view, but was smaller than our suite. The hotel itself has a nice combination of size and intimacy. Couple of bars/restaurant on the ground floor. A well stocked munchy/quickie food space and the staff were all quite friendly and helpful. Reality Check.. Valet Parking. Call me old, well I am, but $58 (if I remember correctly) a night to park is ridonkulus. I don't have a reference point if this is normal for Downtown Austin these days, but what the heck? Pull up, park and leave the car for two nights and then leave... $116.. We certainly could of had a mate drop off us off at the hotel and pick us up to bring us home... even an Uber would of been a cheaper choice. To boot, the system of check out from Valet by using a text to pick up the car, is flawed. After we arrived home, I got a text to let me know my car will be ready to pick up outside the lobby in 10 mins! Not once but a couple of times and then again a couple days later! The last time, I blocked the number. What's with that? All in all, these little things didn't destroy our time there and it was nice to celebrate our weekend in the city we call home. read more

I had an absolutely excellent experience here. Stellar. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting from out of town. The hotel is huge! It has bars and restaurants throughout. The entire staff is exceptional, helpful, caring, just nice all around. I loved the rooms. They were extremely clean and updated. The lobby is great! It is a very walkable hotel with many things close by such as restaurants, shops, and bars. If you go to Austin, please stay here. You won't regret it. read more

Reviews Would I return? Absolutely. My experience in full was simply just about five stars all around. A highlight for me was the staff working at the hotel, specifically at the front desk (that's you Joebeth). As a frequent visitor and platinum member for Marriott, I felt more seen and taken care of than many other experiences. Even when things were a little amiss, staff were quick to remedy any problems. It was truly an elevated hotel. Highlights: friendliness, and accommodation of the staff, the M lounge was a lovely addition, and it was nice to see a lounge open every single day, which is not always the case at many Marriotts right now. There is also is a variety of options for food and drink, which I really enjoyed. Their feature bar of Zanzibar is one of my most favorite hotel bars I have ever experienced. Shout out to Day who was the host and, as cheesy as it is, made my day more than once. Also, If you have the ability, upgrade your room, you will not be disappointed. Because of the positioning of the hotel, you can get some fantastic views. Cons: while the pool is lovely, there is a lot of shade because it's next to a very tall building. So in times where you wanna get some sun, you really can't do that. The other frustration I had was apparently the one full day I was there the pool had been bought out by a company and everything on that entire floor was closed, which included that amazing restaurant, bar area and the pool. I was really frustrated that as a paying guest of the hotel, who part of my purpose was to spend time at the pool, I was not able to do that. I wish I had been notified on check in or that there had been signs up the day before so I would know before planning my day around spending it at the pool . I will say that I ran into a staff member on my way back to my room after learning this, and they sent me some drink vouchers as an apology, which was a nice gesture. So while this was an inconvenience, no need to lose a star over it. Overall, I hope you choose to stay while in the Austin area. It really was a lovely experience! read more
