In the heart of downtown Austin its rooms are perfect size has excellent accommodations really close to the airport. The staff was very accommodating they allowed an early checkin I loved the restaurant onsite and the speakeasy as well. It's also very close to restaurants and bars downtown amazing location!! I would recommend this hotel if you're in Austin
Our new favorite hotel in Austin, period. if you're looking for a nice, quaint hotel in downtown ATX, look no further. Despite its size, it has the feel of a boutique hotel. No crowd. No wait. The valet service, albeit pricey at $60 per night, is by far the best we've experienced anywhere. Two valet attendants helped us at vehicle dropoff and four (yep quatro!) at pickup. The staff everywhere are sharp and professional. We received a complimentary pour of Prosecco at check-in. We got a corner room with lots of windows and a great view. Although small, it was ample. The room is gorgeously appointed with outlets and amenities galore. Plenty of closet space. Bath area is uber modern and clean. The king-size bed was comfy and the pillows were great.
W Austin: A Clinic in How to Alienate Guests The W Austin is proof that a hotel can get almost everything technically right--nice lobby, efficient valet, slick branding--and still fail so completely at the basics of hospitality that the entire experience becomes laughable, if not infuriating. The trouble began with something as trivial as receiving non-functional room keys at check-in, which on its own would barely register as an inconvenience. But the hotel's response turned it into a slow-motion train wreck. What followed was 40 minutes of being effectively locked in my room, trapped by the staff's apathy and empty promises. Here's the play-by-play: Arrive at my room, keys don't work. There happens to be a staff member right there who verifies my identity, lets me into the room, and promises new keys will "come right up." Twenty minutes pass. Nothing. I call the front desk. "The ambassador is on his way." Ten minutes later, still nothing. I call again. Same line. When I point out they already told me this, I get a smug correction: "No, I said he was going to be on his way soon." At 40 minutes, the so-called "ambassador" arrives. No apology. No explanation. Just says, "Here are your keys," and leaves, as if basic courtesy is somehow optional at the W. By this point, I'd already wasted enough time to file a corporate complaint. Corporate, naturally, was worse than useless--an endless hold line, "We are experiencing higher than usual call volumes" (no s**t, Sherlock), an auto-generated "we value your feedback" email, followed the next morning by a vague suggestion to speak with "leadership staff." No names, no phone numbers, no email addresses, no effort (see pictures). I responded almost immediately to that email, requesting that "leadership staff" contact me. The punchline? Over a full day after I'd checked out, I received an email from Brian Leibel, Director of Welcome Office & In-Room Dining at the hotel. Bland, perfunctory, and calculatedly late. The cowardice is almost impressive: waiting until the guest has left ensures there's no chance of an awkward face-to-face, no risk of accountability, and of course, no possibility of offering a gesture of goodwill during the stay (see pictures). Remember, I was booked with a group that also rented out the second floor conference area; they knew exactly where I'd be all day Tuesday and Wednesday morning. This is hospitality stripped of its humanity--transactional, evasive, and contemptuous of the very customers it pretends to serve. The irony is that this entire disaster could have been neutralized by the smallest flicker of effort: a timely apology, a handshake, a token credit of Bonvoy points. Instead, the W Austin chose stonewalling, smug deflection, and hiding behind email. If Marriott's Bonvoy brand is supposed to stand for loyalty, let me translate: it actually means, "We got your money. Bon voyage." For my part, I'll take my business--and my company's events--elsewhere. And if you're a Bonvoy member, I'd suggest you do the same, there are plenty of other Marriott properties in the area (see pictures). The W Austin has made it abundantly clear: you are not a guest. You're just an inconvenience they can't wait to check out.
I stay in Austin most weeks usually in the Marriott or Otis but decided to try the W this time! It was okay but I won't return as there was nothing I cared for on the property besides the nice smelling shower gel! Hotel is under construction- you have to take the elevator to the third floor to check in and check in was not particularly friendly - same can be said for Valet. Hotel has a fun modern vibe and the room is huge for Austin with a cool modern bathroom and decor but it had a weird overpowering smell like mothballs ! Some reviews mentioned a signature jasmine smell so maybe this was supposed to be it but it was bad and appeared to get worse when the AC was on - it made for a miserable stay it was that bad. Room was clean, bed not very comfy standard view of downtown. Room was pretty quiet and hotel felt very deserted! Ordered room service - salad with salmon was good, hummus was awful the bread it came with was hard, oily and inedible! Left most of my meal. It was okay but for the price there are way better hotels downtown - maybe it will get better after the construction is through!
Loved this hotel. They just finished a remodel in October of '24 and were still doing some construction in the lobby as of December. Still the room was really great. The style of everything was on point, the lighting, the couch, the rug, the closet. It all went really well together around a daring sort of teal color. Some standouts. Nespresso machine is always clutch. The bar end of the console, that lights up was a nice touch. Even with a cocktail beaker and spoon, just fun to have. The bath robe was luxuriously soft, maybe the nicest I've felt. Lights under the bed that light up by motion when you step out of the bed are also a subtle plus. Bathroom was spacious. The vertical blue shower tiles were gorgeous. The toilet separated by its own door is a nice touch for sharing the bathroom. The bed was luxuriously soft and same for pillows. The restaurant looked great though I didn't get to try this time. The bar and lounge were expansive with comfy furniture. Love when this space is joined together and open like this. There's a secret bar behind the lobby bar called the blue room. A cool vibe though less loungy, not as warm and inviting. Nice cocktails though with some top shelf alcohol. There's a lot of bathrooms back there too which is always good to have. It's in a good location in downtown austin, I found it to be sort of in the middle of everything I wanted to go see and do. Great walkability. Overall will definitely be my first consideration to stay next time I return to Austin.
We were here for a quick Valentines staycation and it was lovely. From the unprompted rose petals creating us to the friendly staff it was a perfect weekend.
This is such a nice hotel! It's super close to a ton of food places and bars downtown and has an amazing view. They have an amazing gym and spa and a great restaurant, Serenade, downstairs for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar is great too!! Service was excellent and the rooms are spacious with great amenities! Super clean, would definitely stay again!
I recently stayed at the hotel and it was just ok. The hotel is being remodeled so the front of the hotel is mostly blocked off and they have a temporary restaurant on the 2nd floor in the hallway. My check-in was fine and my room was nice. Definitely can feel that the hotel needs a refresh though. Paint and wallpaper in the hallways were beat up. I did go to the restaurant for lunch one day. I ordered a salad and they ended up bringing me the wrong one. But I ate it anyway as it was my 2nd choice. I got there in between staff breaks so they were not as attentive as they could have been. I had the ARUGULA + BABY SPINACH salad: Cherry tomato, avocado, pecorino, lemon vinaigrette, balsamic honey reduction. I added shrimp. The salad was tasty and I really liked the shrimp. The hotel did not have a store but they were very nice and gave me a can of soda one morning when I asked if I could buy one somewhere. I did eat some chocolate covered almonds from the mini bar which I told the hotel about when I checked out. Over $17 for a little pack of chocolate almonds. That is ridiculous. Then the hotel charged me again for them, plus some sort of oxygen thing I did not use, after the cleaning staff cleaned my room. They did take that charge off my bill. So hopefully things will improve when the remodel is done as its in a great location.
Great location that's within walking distance to a ton of restaurants and bars. Front desk was really knowledgeable and efficient Room has great beds and was very clean
The scent of a hotel automatically changes my mood during my trips. The W has that soft (jasmine?) smell throughout the hotel which makes me so happy. Hubs and I stayed in the King Suite which was super roomy and a nice change from our last few hotels (tiny rooms in New York and Europe). Some things worth mentioning: + spacious room + friendly front desk staff and room service for cleaning and in room dining. They're all genuinely happy and it shows throughout the hotel. + they change their elevator mats from good morning, good afternoon, to too evening. I love it! + they offer robes (but no slippers). + the hotel is under construction but has their restaurant on the 2nd floor which offers a delicious Chicken Caesar Salad! + the hotel is located in a walkable area. My go-to coffee shop and restaurants were all walking distance to the W. I think the only downside is the construction taking place so the exterior isn't the prettiest but it's not like it changes anything with my room. I would have also preferred a branded body wash/shampoo but I luckily had my own travel-sized goodies with me. Aside from that, I was very pleased with my stay and would definitely consider staying at the W again.
I hosted my birthday party this year at the W Austin pool and truly had the best time ever!!! Here are the things I LOVED: - I coordinated my event with the Marketing Manager, Julia, and she was incredible to work with: quick response time, professional, and welcoming. I got to meet her in person as well and she was very kind and seemed genuinely excited to have my event at their property! - Was greeted upon arrival by the Pool Deck Manager (he could have a different title), Jorge, who made sure my event ran smoothly and he was super attentive to my group's needs. The event went perfectly thanks to him!! - The pool deck and pool itself were SUPER clean. Lots of towels and staff taking care of the space. And it's literally stunning. Plenty of cabanas with shade, a walk up bar, and lots of additional seating. - DJ played amazing music and let me request songs (which I know some DJs hate, but it was my birthday so it made it extra special hearing my favorite songs!) - The servers were so sweet and helpful! They all had wonderful energy and were quick to take my guests' orders and bring their drinks/food back to them as efficiently as possible. Other notes: - Drinks are pricey, but that's standard for a downtown hotel in any city - Valet parking available - Yummy food on the menu - I also stayed in one of their suites and it was incredible with gorgeousss city views! Thanks again for having me W Austin! Can't wait to come back again soon! 10/10 recommend for your next event.
Marjan and I visited the W this past weekend, not having returned for some 7 years previous. The transformation of our favorite boutique hotel is remarkable. The hotel is found on Lavaca Street, conveniently located proximate to watering holes, restaurants and shopping. On arrival, valet staff were prompt, registering our car, bell staff immediately offering help with luggage. Entering, the W is not as we remembered. Over the past year the hotel has undergone major renovation, and scanning the area, registration, bar and restaurant assume a gleaming new look. The registration staff were more than polite and welcoming, and immediately attentive. One feature new to us: a phone app that serves as key to our suite! Entering our room, here friends is a description that meets the eye. Previously, the very pleasing decor featured colors and decor elements that some could say assumed, almost whimsy. Images of rock stars had covered the walls, the color schemes bright, pleasing. Now however, entirety of the suite is of a more elegant decor, with very upscale furnishings, lighting, carpeting and wall art. Left of the entrance is found a writing desk, one end topped with beverage service glasses, the other with our desired Nespresso coffee pot. The living room features stylish chair and floor lamp, modern curved sofa with interesting cushions, and area rug of pleasing texture, dimension and color, large flat screen television. The bathroom features large tub, glass enclosed shower and gleaming chrome faucets and rainfall shower head. The lighting over the basin perfectly placed below, above and around the large mirror, the mirror completely covering the wall. Separate water closet as one would prefer, the lighting motion activated. The king bed was raised on a small pedestal, again with contemporary lighting left and right of the headboard. Our particular suite featured large windows on corner, facing north and west, giving a remarkable view of the scrapers surrounding the area, and the lake area below. Wow! Also within, stylish chair...yellow...and wall mounted flat screen. Our overall impression: major investment in quality finish, with very high end furnishings throughout. Marjan and I favor very modern, contemporary as opposed to more traditional, so for our taste, we consider the reborn W certainly among the top 3 hotels that we visited...ever. We spied the exercise room, well equipped, and while we dined and breakfasted elsewhere with friends, did not experience the restaurant nor room service of the W. But, in truth, given the significant investment we witnessed, we cannot imagine that food service would be less than exceptional. Would we recommend the W Austin? Definitely! We know where we will stay at next visit to Austin! Be well Yelpers!!
The W is located in downtown Austin two blocks from the lake in a newly developed area. After booking an impromptu and long overdue trip I booked a fabulous corner queen room. Check in was easy breezy and I was offered champagne or water. As a non drinker the choice was clear. My room on the 12th floor had two corner windows with sweeping views of the bustling and expanding downtown Austin area. Features such as single point lighting, magnetized bedside charging, labeled work desk charging, Nespresso espresso machine, and clothing steamer were -appreciated. I've discovered in my 400 plus day run streak that running is the best way to explore any new area. My run around Austin was perfect even though my Apple Maps kept leading me astray. I digress... The W also has a fabulous AWAY spa, workout area, and outdoor pool. The hotel is undergoing renovations but this wasn't really felt in any way. The restaurant has moved to the 2nd floor and has healthy tasty food. The entry lobby bar area has some great art on display. Thanks to all the great staff who were inviting and helpful. Hurrah W!
I'm a fully paid up W Hotel fan - and the W Hotel Austin (happily) fits the formula I love the Women's club Wednesday's they periodically throw, I like the away spa (especially with their 30% Texas resident discount which makes it basically strip mall prices for international quality service) - and I love drinking elderflower margaritas on their wet deck in the Summer when other people are at work (I am a teacher, I spend my entire summer crowing gleefully - it helps compensate for the hair tearing rage at exam / report writing time) - I love that the valet is free if you're using hotel services - which a couple of the other big hotels don't offer (boo, hiss..) I'm knocking off a star because their vibe is more generic than Austin - and because although their service is generally great there is almost always something which isn't quite 100% polished. But they remain my go to for mid week sunning, slightly fancier pedicures and pool side table service. read more

I travel to Austin pretty often because of my Texas Longhorns Football season tickets and because it's my second favorite city in the world (after NYC). I've been anticipating the opening of the W for quite some time, and my one night stay didn't disappoint. I want to make this my second home... I've turned into a complete hotel snob after staying in a hotel for over 200 nights just last year alone, so I've had a wide range of experiences with Starwood properties. I would rank the W in Austin near the top (The Joule in Dallas is still my favorite, and I don't think anything will ever top that). It doesn't surprise me that a few of the early reviewers had bad experiences dealing with the employees or with the overall hotel operation. One of the managers admitted it was a bit of a disaster the first few weeks since they were still trying to work out all the kinks. But after about a month of being open, it seems like everything is running very smoothly. The employees were very friendly and eager to assist with my needs, and I didn't have any issues. Let's start with the positives: 1. Atmosphere: I love the modern/hip/luxurious design of the hotel. 2. Starwood Preferred Guest benefits: When it comes to upgrades and other SPG benefits, Starwood properties are hit or miss. Luckily this hotel goes out of its way to treat Platinum members with respect. They gave me a free upgrade to one of the Cool Corner Suites, and I was pretty blown away. The hotel rate for a corner suite is worth about twice what I paid for... 3. The rooms: The rooms are amazing with a great level of comfort and a great view of the city. The bathrooms are nice and clean, and as always, they include the awesome Bliss products that I love to steal. They also have HD TVs in every room where every channel is in HD. Heck, the Beverly Hilton didn't even have this feature. *Check out the pictures I uploaded. Negatives: 1. The price - The lowest price that I've seen is about $279, and during football season and other busy weekends, the rate shoots up to at least $454 a night. The $279 rate is ok with me, but I would never pay close to $500 per night at this hotel. Of course you can use SPG points, but it will cost you at least 12,000 points on most nights, and 16,000 on the busy weekends. That's crazy... I'm also disappointed that they don't offer the cash and points option as much as they should. It would normally be just 4800 points + $90, but every random weekend that I checked didn't even offer this option. I still need to try out the restaurants, bars, and the pool. If the pool is similar to the Wet pool at the W in Dallas, then I'll be highly satisfied. I'll update this review once I have a chance to check out these other features. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for an amazing place to crash in Austin. Like I said earlier, this is going to be my 1st choice whenever I make it down to Austin. read more
I attended a wonderfully amazing birthday party for a friend up on the fourth floor pool deck in two rented cabanas this weekend. The view, the pool, the hotel, the food and drinks, and especially the staff were overly stellar the entire time we were there. They had a live DJ playing great songs, starting at 11. We stayed until around 5:30 - as it had gotten super busy, (and hot!) but for most of the time the pool was mainly ours and we leisurely swam and enjoyed our cabana. They have fantastic cabanas complete with fans, TV's, phones, comfortable furniture, and fake grass rugs so that you don't burn your feet on the molten concrete. Ours happened to have a long view of the pool and the skyline which was fantastic. Zach, who was our event coordinator got everyone's parking validated, and kept things running smoothly throughout the day. I had brought some cupcakes for the birthday girl, and not only did the kitchen/wait staff store them until it was time to bring them out, but they arranged them on beautiful dishes and served them to us! You know what fantastic service is? Going the extra mile for guests, without them having to ask. Thank you! The one star missing here is for the exorbitant price of the food and drinks. It's a hotel, it's in downtown Austin, I get it. $40 for a 6 pack of beer, or $85 for a pitcher of margaritas? C'mon.... really? Anyways, I had the street tacos and they were decent, and the orange margaritas, although spendy, were indeed fantastic. I would so totally rent a cabana again here for an event. Seriously, the funnest time and best birthday party I've ever attended. Four stars for fabulousness! read more

So I stayed at the W (even though I live in Austin) for a mini-staycation and invited my friends along during the weekend of Carnaval Brasileiro Austin. I have to admit the entire experience was great. When we all stumbled home, drunk as lord knows what on Saturday night post Carnaval, around 3AM, we immediately ordered room service. The server was amazing. When she came in I believe we had music blasting and were jumping around on the beds. She danced with us and was incredibly friendly and helpful. This was the case with all of the servers as we probably ordered food 5 or 6 times during the weekend and each time ordered about 6 different entrees/meals and all the servers were knowledgeable and helpful. On Sunday we upgraded to the Wow suite and the view was amazing. Even though I realized around 2AM that my toothbrush had gone missing, they had one brought up in just a few moments. In addition they were very timely with all of our requests. We also stopped by the spa and Trace and I should probably review those two separately some other time. Overall it was a great experience and I'd be fine dropping by for another staycation and lounging by the pool. read more

This place continues to grow on me. My second stay was better than the first, even though I didn't get an upgrade. Here's why I like the W: - Location can't be beat. Near everything downtown, which means cheap cap fairs or walking. - Starwood / SPG property: sets the standard for hotels; great reward points program - Lobby bars: multiple lobby bars - View: view of river is awesome. - The beds are super comfortable - Friendly staff read more

You cant go wrong with choosing a W Hotel. They always have the best location and service. Austin was on par with SF and New York. The parking staff was fast and courteous. Our checkin was bumpy but Davis the manager saved the day getting us situated in the room we reserved. The room was quiet and W comfortable. Everything you expect from a W property. They did have a nice pool deck area which we did not use. read more
I'm pretty picky about hotels, but I have absolutely no hesitation in giving the W Austin all five stars. In fact, I think I can safely say that this is the nicest W property I have ever stayed at. Unlike other W properties that are set in renovated buildings, this one was constructed as a W from the start (along with the residences that sit atop the hotel). It's evident immediately in the design of the building that they wanted to create a stylish, open space, with the beautiful lounges in the lobby either getting a lot of natural light or having soaring ceilings. My particular favorite was the lounge with the fireplace, adorned with bookshelves-full of old albums, which a friend and I had a blast going through (cocktails included). Being a bit of an architecture buff, I was particularly impressed when the elevator doors opened up to my floor, to find a long hallway that showed off the concrete columns of the building, making for a beautifully decorated colonnade in its muted colors and accents of red. As for my room, I had a Fabulous corner room, and it was, indeed, fabulous... quite sexy, in fact. My room actually had windows on three sides, since the room juts out from the hotel a bit, bringing a lot of light into the room and providing a great view of the city. The beds are quite comfy, and the shower was one of the roomiest I've ever seen in a hotel. What always makes a good hotel stay a great one is, of course, the staff - and, to a person, everyone I interacted with was genuinely friendly and aimed to please. (Some of the other W properties, like a couple in NY, could take a lesson from these folks!) A special shout-out goes to George at the front desk, who made sure everything was just right for my stay and who checked on me every time I passed the desk, asking if there was anything else he could do to make my stay more comfortable. Finally, the location is great, being right in the Warehouse District and in close proximity to Austin City Limits and some great restaurants. This is now my hotel of choice in Austin, and I hope you have the chance to check it out yourself sometime soon. read more

I had such a great experience here. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. I loved the record room. Very cool spot. Most of all, the staff was so welcoming! Likely the best service I've experienced at a Starwood outside of the Westin on Maui. So, I ended up getting sick during my stay and they took such good care of me. I'm so appreciative. They sent me tea and water twice and sent someone to the store to go get me some NyQuil. See my photo. Just above and beyond the call of duty. THIS REVIEW IS FOR IN-ROOM DINING. What do you do when you just landed from a long flight, too tired and lazy to go out to eat? Order food in your room. And the W took the cake for really bad hotel food. First, our order was messed up. We ordered a sausage, peppers and spinach pizza with no sausage. And we got a plain cheese pizza. Which was warm (not hot, not freezer cold either). When we explained our actual order, they came back with another pizza in a few mins. This was the EXACT same cheese pizza with wilted veggies over it (picture). Thus winning the most-unappetizing-looking-pizza-ever award. Oh and did I mention double fried French fries that almost tasted like ruffles? read more

Beautiful hotel! Since I was flying in for an interview, my hotel room was comped so that probably made my stay that more delightful. I stayed on the 14th floor which had a pleasant view of the city and the Colorado River! The decor was really nice and modern. My king bed was so comfy, I ended up sleeping like a baby. Watch out for the WATER! There were 3 water bottles in my room and only 1 was free! The gym and pool here were also fantastic. Sadly I didn't have enough time to utilize either of them. My only complaint is that they have NO FREE WI-FI! They charge like $14.25 per day if you want it. However, there's a super close Starbucks on the right side of this hotel that I ended going to. You got to love loopholes! read more

Was here for a special work trip specifically to check out this property. Possible they forgot this and put me in room 721- which is between the staircase and housekeeping room. Which means at least twice an hour there will be door slamming that sounds like someone is trying to bust in your door. Decor in the lobby and the lounge is hip, night clubish in the later hours which seems to be a fun thing for locals or hotel guests, so a plus for that. There is a Bluetooth speaker in the room which I thought was a nice touch until it said I needed to hook up to WiFi then when going to hook up it said it is $15 a day, hard pass. Put the do not disturb on my door and had banging before 8am for housekeeping- both nights. Highlights would be that bathtub, it's deep and glorious. Staff seemed nice and checkout was smooth since they send receipt via email. read more
Stayed here over the past weekend for the Austin Food & Wine Festival. This was a perfect location for the event as it was a 10 min walk across the river. The rooms were well appointed & we had a very nice view of water & the opposite shore from the high floor we were in. The bed was super comfortable as it should be from a hotel that was one of the first to sell their bedding. Bliss toiletries & well appointed bathrooms. Standard W. One note: the glass shower door in our room opened visibly into our bedroom. So, you better be intimately comfortable with who you are staying. Service was more than adequate which included car service via their hotel Acura SUV. Overall we were very comfortable & well cared for. As far as W's go, this is on par with the others we have stayed in. A hip/younger vibe without the über party atmosphere of something like a hard rock or Me brand hotel. Location for Austin is prime as far as we could tell from this past visit. We have family visiting from the north east & have a booking in for two rooms to return in June. read more

Finished a nice stay at the W for work so this rating is for both the stay and the event. The room I stayed in was modern, clean and standard W trendy. It was a good size shower with larger Bliss toiletries and the room size was quite generous. I'm an SPG gold member and our work rate had free wifi. We also hosted an event on the 2nd floor in the Great Room and the catering staff was amazing. We had an outdoor reception after on the terrace, and the staff took care of all the details and asked if we had any preferences on drinks, were very flexible to start earlier, and overall very friendly and accommodating. The chef at the carving station even made custom BBQ sandwiches. I also used the gym which was massive and had a studio, Pilates machines, plenty of cardio machines and weights. The pool also looked quite tempting but i ran out of time with my stay (although got a couple of photos). I'd recommend for a stay in Austin as it's conveniently located and great staff. Definitely on the pricier side compared to other Austin hotels. read more
Kinda weird that this place doesn't have better reviews. We stayed for a weekend and it was great time. We showed up around 6p and checkin was a breeze. Michael checked us in and told us they had a couple options, a room on a lower floor or a room on the 12th floor. He told us the 12th floor had the better view so that's the one we took. He was right, we had a nice city view and partial river view. The room was nice and clean with nice furnishings. The room itself wasn't huge but it had a good sized entry and the bathroom was extra spacious. The shower was huge and the toilet was in a separate room, which is a nice touch. We didn't ask for it but I understand that you can request a coffee maker in your room and there's also a pillow menu. The days that we were there they had coffee/tea in the lobby. It's within walking distance of some great restaurants and coffee shops. All of the staff were friendly. Everyone we walked by always acknowledged and greeted us. The only downside of this hotel is there is no self parking and valet is $39/a night. read more

It's nice enough, but they go a little too far for the "young", "hip" and somewhat skanky vibe for my taste. I was told on checking in that it is more "lively" than the Westin, and I truly believe that the nice man up front who told me that meant it like it was a good thing... I'll take the Westin any day though. read more

Traveled to Austin for a bachelorette party and we spent the day at the pool. The hotel was so incredibly accommodating; they let us store our 16 bags while we laid out. Andre, bartender, was unreal! He was so kind and he even remembered our names. I would 100 percent return. read more
I stayed here for two nights while visiting Austin on a business trip. The inside of the hotel is beautiful, the pool is nice in the fitness area is pretty large. Everyone is extremely helpful and attentive to your needs. They also have a nice bar area and make good drinks during happy hour time. The only reason I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars are because my sheets and comforter were made of a material that made me pretty sweaty at night. I put the AC as low as it would go (65) however I still found myself getting extremely warm even just under the sheet. It was a little synthetic feeling. Let me first start my review off by stating that this rating is based off this place being only 2 months old. They opened in December 2010 so is still in mint condition during my stay. The entire hotel is super trendy and modern, upholding well the W reputation. It has multiple themed bar/lounge area, upholding well the Austin reputation =) The rooms are clean since it is very new and the fixture still has its polish. The decor reminds me of a typical San Francisco bachlor pad crossed with CB2 and West Elm. They designed it to the tee with even having mirrors built into the tiles in the shower for men to shave. The sweat (gym) facility is spacious and clean. The machines are all new and very up to date, with plenty of weights machine and free weights. The front door greeters are also the valet guys who are very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff are also pretty friendly with a lil standoff-ish attitude (typical of W hotels). Like other SPG properties, they are very dog friendly. The location is within blocks to downtown where the restaurant and bar scenes are. There are also cute boutiques surrounding the hotel as well. I don't know if there is self parking as I didn't see any but be warned that valet is at a hefty $35. For a budget stay, the Sheraton on 11th st. is definitely my choice. For fun and fancy, this is the place to be. read more

Way over priced hotel. Not so much "bang" for your buck. First off, why does your pool close at 730pm? Makes no sense. So we ordered room service, a burger medium well...came to us medium rare...then brought us another one but my daughter was grossed out already and on check out, they kindly removed the charge. The window curtain did not close all the way so the sun is hitting your eye balls early in the morning. The door to the shower wouldn't close all the way either so water got all over the floor. Had issues with our WiFi, and it was late so nothing was done. No AED in hallway by elevators. We stayed in room 1213. Overall, pass on it and get another hotel that has a pool that stays open later passed 730pm and a AED in he hotel. I'll never stay here again. read more

Hotel bar is nice for night life, the rooms are modern, and the location is prime. The pool is very small but has a good crowd. The restaurant/pool manager Nick was extremely attentive. He went out of his way to get us chairs, drinks, and checked on us often. I must say he was the highlight of our stay! read more
