I think I had higher hopes than what I experienced but the hotel itself is fine. The positive: location, location, location! If you're going to an NBA or an NHL game, there's no other hotel you'll want to stay at. The arena is literally W's neighbor. The decor is another positive. It's definitely a big hotel that feels like a boutique hotel. The entire property is super cute but at least one aspect of my room wasn't very functional. The fine: hotel employees are professional. Not very warm or friendly but they're fine. The not so fine: the room is very cute and boutique but the shower doesn't have a traditional door. Imagine more of a partition. Luckily, I was staying alone but if I were going to stay with anyone, it would be a significant other. Because it was convenient for a Mavs game, but the price for parking is insane. --- --- --- I was in Dallas for less than 24 hours, for the sole purpose of going to a Mavs vs Cavs game, so when I saw that the W was right next to the American Airlines Center, I quickly made my decision on where I'd be staying. My seat in section 310 was legitimately about 500 steps to my bed in room 1010. I've never had a more convenient experience for a sporting event. You can legitimately throw a baseball from the front door to the W to the front door of the AAC. However, I woke up the next morning with the bill emailed to me and parking came to $60.62. It was valet, so I tipped $5. $65.62 to park my car from about 6pm on a Friday until about 9am on a Saturday, in Dallas, is clinically insane. If I could have done this over, I absolutely would have just stayed in another hotel and taken a cheap Uber ride over. As for the hotel itself, I have a couple small gripes: -The shower not having a door is just dumb. I was cold even while sitting directly under the water stream, when it was as hot as it could be. And the water pressure on the rain shower heads is always bad - this was not an exception. -The bed and the pillows were a bit soft for my liking, but I recognize that's personal preference. -There was no way to completely close the curtains, so there was always a sliver of light peeking in. I tried for a long time to get the curtains to fully blackout, but I failed. Overall, I did enjoy the convenience of basically zero commute to the arena, but it deeply pains my soul to pay that much for parking. read more

If you're going to Dallas for an event at the American Airlines center, this is the place to stay! Literally just steps away from the arena and full of amenities of its own. Valet parking was easy, check in hassle-free, and the room large and modern with in-room Nespresso machine. We stayed for less than 24 hours so didn't get to use most of the amenities of the hotel but we did visit the bar and lounge. The main bar was closed for a private event and we almost didn't see the other bar due to no signage and a limited street presence--and we would have missed a lot! Ryan was behind the bar and welcomed us like locals, making conversation and cocktail recommendations to patrons. We sat at the bar and felt as though he was our own personal bartender because he was so engaging, but it wasn't just us--he made sure to visit tables and engage with customers there also. I was really happy staying here this time above all my previous stays. I really think they have stepped up when it comes to hospitality. You can just tell they do whatever it takes to make sure nothing goes wrong but that if it did they'd fix it asap. They are THE BEST about honoring the Marriott Ambassador late check out status so when we called for our 4pm checkout , not once did they say, "Let me see...oh sorry we have people coming in so we can only do noon." :eyeroll: which we all know is 100% a lie. Bloody Mary Taste Test I have got to say that the Bloody Mary at their bar has to be one of the best, if not THE best Bloody Mary I ever ever had. It wasn't too watery or too tomato-y and if you get it spicy, it's actually a perfect spiciness. 10/10 on this one. The rooms are pretty nice. Just try not to get a view of the darned roof if you can. We asked to be upgraded and had a fun view of Victory Lane and AA Center. I had the worst stay at the W Hotel in Dallas. I'm not even one to write bad Yelp reviews, but it's reached a point where I want to warn others before booking here. Just like everyone else I had this perception the W Hotel was this elite, 5-star type modern hotel. It's quite opposite. Upon arrival, the concierge was nice and explained all my benefits through Amex. Upon arrival to the room: - No welcome basket through Amex (that they said would be in my room ready for me). After I called and expressed my concerns, they said the next morning when the kitchen opens, they will send it up. Never got it; which is fine, but it's the addition of things afterwards. - Shower drain not properly draining the water. It took 20-min for the water to go down. - I can literally hear my neighbor snoring from the other room. There is a connecting door between the rooms. It just made me uncomfortable. - No one explained how room service could be ordered or where was the menu. - Booking a spa appointment made no sense if you planned to charge it to your room for the Amex credit back. It doesn't allow you that option, rather to input your cc details. - The view is dirt and construction. - The pool water was mucky, and the glasses surrounding were dusty (hence the construction, go figure). - They don't have any type of snack bar or lobby treats. I don't even mind buying them. They just have green apples in a large basket. - Hotel front desk doesn't want to be bothered or of much assistance unless they have to. I get it, it's the service industry, it's not the most ideal, but I was pleading for them to give me the rundown on where the pool/gym was, hours they were opened, etc. just basic info that I didn't have to go googling for. - 5:45pm there's not one host/hostess to get me seated for the restaurant Villa Azur. I waited there patiently waiting staring at every hotel front desk staff and any person that walked in the restaurant. Eventually, I just sat at the bar and waited. 10-min later, a nice bar tender arrives and takes my order. Overall, the views are nice and the location of the hotel is convenient. But, for the price you're paying - pay a little extra (if that) and stay at the Ritz or somewhere where I'd believe you would have a more pleasant stay. You're just not really welcomed here or treated like a guest. I really do want to give every business a fair chance, and was hesitant in even writing this review, but I figured corporate wouldn't care, but maybe it could help save someone else from booking. read more

This is one of those I have mixed feelings about. The hotel has a very young, hype and trendy vibe. It definitely gives rockstar vibes. The common areas are in need of some care, you can definitely tell the hotel was built almost 18 years ago and it seems like they haven't renovated since then. The pool is spectacular. I can't rave enough about this pool. The staff was very attentive. Location is very good, especially if you are going to an event at the American Airlines arena. I will say it is overpriced. We paid $60 for valet. $23 for an old fashioned made with Bulleit...I don't know about that. All drinks are minimum $18 and the food was a little pricey too. After trying to surprise my partner with a romantic getaway for Valentine's Day, I chose the W hotel. When I chose the W hotel, I had selected a certain room and then they offered me inside the website and upgraded to a better room. I thought that was a great idea, so I went ahead and Upgraded only when I press the button there was no going to the next page. There was no add onto my account so I called them the lady at the concierge and the lady handling reservations at 5:06 on 11 February was horribly rude and disgusting and I highly suggest that she no longer work there as she would not help me out she threatened to charge me for the first night because of something on her part, she would not help me. She called me a F word and told me that maybe I should go somewhere cheaper when we have Spent in the last year over about 10 grand in hotels for travel for everything with Marriott. We will never be doing this again. Attached is a video showing the conversation showing the issue and letting you know that you have an employee that needs to be let go. we will not be staying there. If I could give this zero stars I would. Not only did they not mention that the hotel is under construction when we called the front desk, we also reserved 2 King rooms. Only 1 was available as there was some basketball event. Perfectly understandable, they told us to check back downstairs the next morning. Which we did, and they were rude, from the look on their faces, their attitude. I was kind of shook and speechless. To the point I'm going to change hotels. The W Victory was really pretty average. Our room with a view was to a large construction site. The entrance to the hotel was also under construction. There are 2 bars and a restaurant on the 1st floor, but no restrooms. The room was a bit odd too - the entrance to the room is into the bathroom. I guess that is fine if you really gotta go! I stayed here during Christmas for a mavericks game because they were so close in proximity. I will give this place 3 stars. For THE W, I thought I would be blown away but it was just nice. THE STAFF they were great! Very friendly and got ish done. I booked two rooms and they were very nice and moved them right next to each other. They also have storage for luggage if you're checking out before a game/event. THE ASTHETIC The rooms were interesting. The bathroom and bedroom were separated by a curtain and there were older fixtures (smoke detector) and some interesting black miscellaneous fixture on the wall. Overall it was...meh. PARKING So there's a parking garage across the street if you don't want to valet park. It's about 30 bucks a day vs 40 valet parking. If you're staying more than one day, it's probably worth doing valet for convenience sake. FOOD It was Christmas and we ordered in. We got a fruit tray and an assorted breakfast dessert tray. The fruit was sweet and fresh and the pastries were divine. They left off something we ordered but they didn't charge so we didn't bother. Overall, it's nice for the convenience to American airlines, but save your money and walk a few more minutes if you're looking to be blown away. We recently stayed a night at The W. We only had time to stay the night and leave early the next morning. The room was an average room but the bathroom was not enclosed and separated only by a curtain. I'm not sure what process the hotel has in cleaning a dividing curtain that is used so often. (The toilet was enclosed. ) The room felt like an average Marriott Hotel room and the bed was comfortable. Booked this hotel for my wife's and my anniversary. Started doing some digging to figure out that the majority of the rooms at this hotel have bathrooms that are not separated by walls... but separated by curtains. If you look at the pictures of the room via the Bonvoy app or on the website, you will NEVER know this. I only found out by checking Yelp prior to our check-in. Tried to call to cancel the reservation, and I was informed of their 72 hour cancellation policy and that I would be charged one full night if I cancelled within 72 hours to the check-in date. We wound up altering our reservation to only 1 night so we can stay somewhere a bit nicer for night 2 of our weekend getaway. Please keep this in mind before you book. read more

(The girl who checked us in did say the hotel was fully booked, so that may be why. She did offer us a room on the 7th floor, but that didn't have a city view.) Since we booked this trip so last minute, we used points for the two nights we were here. I believe otherwise, the room ran something like $350+ a night. Honestly, we didn't spend much time at the hotel, but the bed was comfy and the room clean. The open concept bathroom was fine for us, but it could be weird for people who aren't as comfy with each other. (The stand up shower had no door which I found very odd.) There is a curtain to separate the room from the bathroom area, but it's not very private. The hotel provided one robe (not sure why it wasn't two) and Bliss toiletries which was nice. Face wash included which was a nice perk! There is an infinity pool on something like the 16th floor. We went up to look at it, but never had an opportunity to use it. Just spent $500 for two massages (way overpriced). Massages were good but did not last the full 50 minutes we paid for. Part of the reason we came to the spa was the enjoy the pool for the day. **BED BUGS****My husband woke up with bites on his ankles. Which looks like bedbug bites. I didn't think much about it until I got the same bites on my leg. The messed up thing is I did not notice my bites on my leg until we were checked out, I was on the airplane on the way back to Vegas and my leg was itching me I pulled up my pants and saw that I had been bit as well. I was sure to call the hotel once we landed back in Vegas to tell them that room had bedbugs by that time it had been several hours since we checked out. I did not notice my bites until we were already gone from the hotel. I made the front desk aware that there might be bed bugs in room 502... Amongst going home I had to take all of our nice clothes to the dry cleaners spending over $100 there plus not to mention how tedious we had to be on wiping down all of our luggage's and washing all of our clothes in hot water to be sure that we were not bringing back bugs from the W hotel. This was on Monday, October 11 when I made the hotel aware of the bites that we both had on our bodies. Their hotel was the last place that we slept. This picture is taken in their hotel room that is the carpet in their room at the W. It is now Wednesday, October 14 and Sarah from the claims department at the W called to confirm to me that the room was inspected and there were no signs of any bedbugs or any pest, that it came back negative for any bugs in-site. I'm sorry I find that hard to believe. But I do understand as to why they would call me back and tell me that. It's just a joke! I was trying not to leave a review, but I feel the next person should be warned. The hotel needs to be thoroughly cleaned and it needs to be renovated!! I haven't been able to sleep with out itching myself to death, knowing I was sleeping in that bed at the W for 3 nights and there were bed bugs, it's just disgusting!! The way they handled this situation, was almost as if I was making this mess up!! Sarah responded to me "well I know this is not the answer you were hoping for" in terms of the room being negative for bugs.... Literally girl bye!! You guys are full of it!! Save your money!! Changed the reservation in advance after learning the hotel was under construction. Went with another Marriott property in the area. I booked this all with award points, and contacted the hotel directly (system re-routed me to the Marriott main reservations line). I asked if I could cancel without penalty and they allowed it and rebooked me. Then days later, I get a random charge on my credit card from the W. When I called the front desk, they would not allow me to talk to the finance department who handled the invoicing. They would only communicate with me via email. Even after I explained the situation they just kept on generically siting their 72 hour cancellation policy, which they never communicated nor when I modify the reservation, did they mention it. In fact, they said it would not be a problem at all to make the change based on the circumstances. I asked for a callback and they ghosted me. I have stayed at a lot of Marriott properties and always had good service, but this was the worst way to treat a Bonvoy member. Will never step foot in this hotel again! This was the biggest disappointment of a hotel ever. The staff and manager were rude. They wouldn't give us the suite we booked, and we had to go to one of their small rooms. Their breakfast is a joke; all you get is yogurt, fruits, or toast. Go to a Fairfield by Marriott, and you will have a better experience. Also, they gouge you by making you pay for valet ($30 per car). Finally, I am one of the highest members of Marriott, and they don't care at all. We used our points for the rooms, and the manager kept telling me, "we have to prioritize paying customers." Thanks for that, nothing like feeling like white trash at one of Marriott's "finest" hotels... Anyways I def recommend staying at the W the front desk is super nice and the pool is also really live and nice. This hotel used to be the shit back when Starwood Hotels owned it. It was classy, trendy, and the service offered was off the charts. That's no longer the case. Since Marriott bought this hotel chain, it's become just another Westin Hotel. Even the trendy clientele that once roamed this hotel are gone and replaced with, well, your typical Marriott customers. It's been very disappointing for me. I once loved this place. When that special "whatever whenever" service that Starwood Hotels provided went away with the new Marriott management, so did everything else. And for $450 plus per night, I didn't get the experience I was expecting as before. Next time I'll consider a stay at Hotel ZaZa. Nonetheless, the W Hotel has a great history and one can only hope they can let new management come in and bring it back to the way it was. From the moment we checked in to the time we left, we got the same treatment from the staff members, kind, helpful and knowledgeable, wonderful staff. From the valet men, front desk men to the cleaning staff. It's Memorial weekend so we stayed from Friday till Monday. This is such a great location too, we walked and rode a scooter everywhere! Just a few blocks from museums, Klyde parks, bars, restaurants and if you don't feel like walking there is a bar and a restaurant on the first-floor lobby that are gorgeous! The rooms are beautiful, we had the city view and it's wonderful! Our dog was able to stay with us which made it a real family trip! The room is half carpet half tile so it was perfect! We'll definitely stay here each time we are in Dallas. read more

BEWARE! I would not recommend staying at this property. I have stayed at this property several times and this by far was the worst experience. Here are a few examples of what happened. 1. The air conditioner was broken in the first two rooms that I was checked into then moved too. The front desk staff service was extremely poor. They showed no empathy for the a/c being broken in the first two rooms. They didn't even offer to help move my luggage after having to be moved twice. 2. Valet took the tip that I gave for retrieving my car but forgot to retrieve my car and was not apologetic about forgetting but seemed more concerned about folks coming from the Mavs game but not current guest of the hotel. 3. THE REALLY BIG ISSSUE- A women came from out of the restaurant screaming because a mouse was running out the restaurant and running around the front desk of the hotel all while one of the front desk agents was running around with a cardboard box trying to catch the mouse. We all know if there is a mouse there must be rats. The worst part is it was coming from the bar and restaurant where food is served. I had breakfast at the restaurant that morning and was disgusted at the whole situation that I witnessed later that evening. Seems to be unsanitary and a rodent problem at this point that was not addressed. You will not have to worry about me ever staying here again. This hotel is amazing. It is right in the center of everything and right across the street from the American Airlines Arena. The restaurant in this hotel is good. It is quite a bit expensive but the quality is high. Beware: this place is cash only and they will not split the check for large parties. The suites are amazing. Aside from a layer of dust on both phones, the iron wasn't working- i needed an extra towel....it's funny because the room service button on the phone read "anything/anytime" and nobody answers for anything any time. I got desperate and dialed the regular hotel number from my cell...shocker, no help. This hotel is not a W standard by any means. The staff is not friendly, they look bored working here.
