This place sucks now that they've lost their main hygienist. They can't execute basic tasks without having inexperienced people injure you.

I hate to write bad reviews. But the experience at W plus is awful. I heard a lot of good news about Dr.Ku. So I decided to try it. But I ended up being assigned to Dr. Wolf. When I ask why I was assigned to Dr. Wolf instead of Dr. Ku. She just said if you have to wait for hours if you would like to meet Dr. Ku. Then I say, OK. Just give her a try to assume they are in the same offices should have the same skills. But I am totally wrong. She is clearly a rookie and didn't practice her skills well at the dental school. She suggests me to replace a filling that is still functional. But she ended up did the filling extremely bad and damaged tooth. That tooth is painful after she did the filling and it is still painful after one month. I have to go to another dental office to ask for advice. What they said about the filling is that " the worst filling" they have ever seen. Even the bite is not adjusted properly. Since the tooth is being damaged deeply. I have to do a root canal. So one sentence to sum up. Don't go for Dr. Wolf. read more

By far the best experience I have had at a dentist. Dr. Ku and his staff were very friendly, but above all not dismissive and pushy. Every trip to the dentist as an adult for me has been filled with lectures, and aggressive upselling of procedures and products. That is not the case here at all. Light touch on the work, carefully explained every single step. I had to have 3 appointments over a 2 week period with 4 separate procedures. They were very accommodating and helpful. All new patient paperwork is done on a tablet when you check in and they gave me an exact breakout of all the costs before starting the procedures. These costs were also about 20% less than what I was quoted at other offices for the same work. If you are like me, and dread going to the dentist not just because of the discomfort but because of the aggressive nature of most modern medical offices then I highly recommend this practice. read more

For months, I have been having a gnawing sensation at a left top back tooth. I was hoping flossing would make it go away, but it didn't. I went to my semi annual cleaning and checkup at my former dentist and the x-ray revealed that I needed at least a filling and maybe a root canal operation. My former dentist pushed me to get the root canal and gave me a quote of about $1000 out of pocket after insurance. I was convinced I would have to go through with this unexpected expense. Then a friend referred me to this office. I thought I would get a second opinion. Setting up an appointment was easy online. Reception was kind, professional, and friendly. Paperwork was not burdensome at all. Dr. Ku introduced himself, heard about my situation, and had x-rays taken. He said that a root canal might be necessary, but a simple filling might be sufficient. He did a couple quick tests (cold/hot sensitivity test) and interviewed me at length about when I feel pain. He concluded that a simple filling would be sufficient. This was a great relief as it would cost far less. Before I asked when I should set up the appointment, he asked if I wanted it done then and there. I said yes, and it was done. Pain is gone, tooth is fine. After insurance, I am now out of pocket only $105. If you're dentist is pushing for an expensive operation, get a second opinion here. If you are fed up with slow receptionists and burdensome paperwork, come here. If you are looking for a new dentist in the area, come here. Highly recommend. read more

Haven't left a Yelp review in years but I had to today after my visit to W Plus! This is my 3rd dentist in the DC area and by far the best. Mika (sorry if spelling is wrong) was SO gentle with my cleaning, which is a huge plus for me. I presented her and Dr. Ku with the recommended work from a previous dentist and they said it wasn't necessary, which is what I suspected and why I left my previous dentist (they were trying to charge me $600+ for work it turns out I didn't need!). Excellent experience and I'm already returning in a few days for a filling which (with my insurance) will only cost around $30. And their therapy dog is so cute! read more

Beware! Dr. Ku pays for reviews! He has a fancy Samsung TV with a scrolling note to patients offering free Amazon Gift Cards and electronic toothbrushes in exchange for reviews and referrals. Dr. Ku told me I had a cavity in Jan. when I had no sensitivity or issues and was recently seen by another dentist. After doing the filling in Feb., I had persisting post-filling sensitivity. I returned in June when Dr. Ku told me he may have filled the cavity too high or not in the right spot. He made an adjustment that didn't work, and I was back in the chair in Aug. when he adjusted the cavity yet again and told me I may need a root canal. Meanwhile, Dr. Ku is charging my insurance company and me (I later found he overcharged me in Feb.). When I asked Dr. Ku what might be the issue, he vaguely cited "biology, physics, and physiology." I recently saw another experienced dentist who fixed Dr. Ku's filling. I suggest trying Dr. Randall Wong. read more

Dr. Ku's practice uses state of the art technology/equipment and the staff are courteous and efficient. Dr. Ku takes the time to explain everything, including total cost and duration of treatment. Also, he employs an adorable therapy dog named Bali who certainly adds to the already highly modern and friendly atmosphere of the practice. read more

I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but seriously Dr. Ku is the most professional and thoughtful dentist that I have been to. Unlike many medical professionals, he takes the time to sit and answer your questions. You never feel rushed and he never tries to upsell you. His entire team is courteous and generally focused on customer service. I've never had to wait for my appointment because they are always on time. I highly recommend his office. read more

Dr. Ku and his staff at W Plus have been a fantastic find. The front desk staff is excellent. They're well organized and provide information on insurance payment ahead of the visits, along with regular visit reminders. Their equipment is all new, including the 360 x-ray machine which is much more comfortable than the individual x-rays I received at my old dentist. After my first cleaning, the hygienist located three potential fillings, which Dr. Ku observed and confirmed. He took photos of the teeth with a small camera and was able to show me the specific locations where the fillings were needed and compare them to several other locations that were fine. I'd never seen a dentist use a tool like this, and it was helpful for me to be more informed going into my fillings. read more

Nice, spacious, bright office with friendly staff. Easy scheduling and Doctor Ku's seemed really good at what he does. Had a small cavity, only took him 10min to take care of it. Much better experience than my previous dentist. Dental hygienist Gigi did a thorough job with my teeth cleaning. She was patient and gentle and didn't rush the procedure at all. Dr. Ku is my dentist since when I lived in Boston, every visit was pleasant, great experiences. His brand-new DC office (W plus dental) has the state-of-art equipment as well as clean and comfortable space. Moreover, the hygienist and receptionist were great, and the dentist himself was very professional and friendly. Recently, I went in for a routine cleaning and aesthetic reasons (temporary veneers), and I could tell that he is very knowledgeable, he explained all different options and approaches to me before the procedure, and he recommended me the most cost-effective option. Also, he spent extra time to make my teeth cleaned and looked flawless. Fantastic experience. Everything here is brand new, clean and modern. My retainer fitting was done with a fascinating electronic device that you can watch on a screen as opposed to the old fashioned mold. The staff is very nice and there is even a small poodle that will sit on your lap. They are also much less expensive than most dentists. I researched dentists to replace a fitting and W+ was literally thousands of dollars cheaper than anyone I found in DC. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Ku's office. The interior design is clean and modern, and there was an easy check in process (computer). His assistants were always courteous and checking in with me every step of the way to see if I was comfortable. They have staff that speak English, Spanish, Korean, and Tagalog. On top of that, after Dr. Ku finished the cleaning and identified cavities, within a few minutes they prepared treatment plan ready for me with costs listed out. There was full transparency the entire time on costs with insurance. He was also very patient and answered all of my questions. Hidden gem in DC and conveniently located a block away from work. I went to this dentist over a year ago for a routine check-up and cleaning. First off everything was great, the staff were very nice, and the clinic is super modern and clean. However, I was told I had six cavities that all needed fillings. I was shocked as I had a check-up less than a year ago at a different dentist and was told I needed no fillings. I ended up getting two of them done (one of which I was told after it was completed may require a root canal cause he got close to the root). After that I decided to skip the rest. Now, one year later I went to a different dentist for a check-up who told me I have zero cavities! I had a feeling at the time that something wasn't right when I was told I needed six fillings in part because of the conversation with the dentist who mentioned "maximizing insurance benefits". I believe that the dentist was selling me fillings that were not needed. read more

It's always daunting to find a great dentist in a new city after having the same dentist for years. While the office is brand new, Dr. Ku and his lovely assistants are incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and really deliver beyond just the basic needs of their patients. It also helps that Dr. Ku uses the latest technology in dentistry so everything he does is highly efficient. I had to get a root canal & crown on a tooth that needed some work done, but the procedure/process was a breeze (I even joked that I kept drifting off to sleep because I was so relaxed). All this to say, I'm glad my search for a dentist is over! And I'm actually looking forward to my next appointment for my routine checkup. PS - Dr. Ku brings his adorable toy poodle named Bali into the office as a therapy dog. Just sayin' read more

It's always tricky to find a good dentist when you move. I went through a bunch of them before I reached W plus: everyone was nice; everything was clearly explained all throughout my appointment; my options were laid down in front of me and Ashley even made the effort to check with my insurance and go back and forth between us to make sure I got the best deal for me. Dr. John was very genuine, attentive and actually sat down with me for more than 5 minutes, unlike these big practices where you don't get the same doctor twice i.e. the recipe for medical errors. For once, I was treated like a human being instead of a moneybag. I come from a warm and friendly culture and I don't take that statement lightly. Otherwise, the clinic's design is beautiful and relaxing, a nice cherry on top! read more

i feel like i've levelled up in this game of adulting - scheduling my own dentist appointment was the final frontier. i'm not ashamed to admit that i put off scheduling a cleaning for a year and a half because the thought of finding my own dentist here in dc was overwhelming - and who ever really WANTS to go to the dentist? but my experience with Dr Ku was so easy and probably as pleasant as a dentist appointment could possibly be. the office is very clean and modern and they are very communicative. read more

This practice is an absolute DC gem. My husband and I were searching for a new dentist last summer after multiple disappointing customer service experiences with our previous dentist. We were immediately impressed by Dr. Ku's practice, including the tech-forward office (but not unnecessarily so), ease of making appointments, and fantastic staff and technicians. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN from this MOST UNETHICAL dentist. He took several imaging studies without explaining why and NEVER SENT to the specialist they referred me to as they had said they would. I ended up wasting time waiting for them and they sent just one which the technician said was no good as it was OUT OF FOCUS. And they demanded I PAY $100. This is UNHEARD of in medical or dental practice, AS ANY DOCTOR OR DENTIST WILL TELL YOU. Whatever x-ray, CT or MRI belongs to the patient as the patient and insurance company pay for it. Their phone system is also appalling as you end up getting a weird voice mail even while they're there. read more

John is by far the best dentist I have had. I have been always so afraid to see a dentist and I have been avoiding it for the longest time. John totally changed my perceptions of a dentist visit and I have actually enjoyed it. First, the place is so nice and clean and it felt like a spa. John was so patient, gentle, professional and honest. He performed the cleaning and three cavity fillings so carefully that I barely felt anything. He also made me a detailed treatment plan and explained everything going on with my teeth to make sure I get the best care. His staff are also so nice! He and his staff made sure I was comfortable through every single procedure multiple times. I will go back to see him soon and I can't wait to have all my dental problems solved! Dr. Ku is simply the most competent and kindest dentist I've ever seen. I usually don't write reviews, but I felt as though Dr. Ku and his staff went out of their way to make sure I have the best possible experience while at a dental office. I'd say I am pretty careful in choosing my dentist and it took me a long time to find a new dentist after I moved to DC. I sought out numerous recs from friends and family. On the first day, I immediately noticed the excellent skills and professionalism. On top of that, the kind of personalized care I received was beyond my expectation. He answered all my questions carefully, completely from the patient's perspective. I was provided well informed options and recommendations for treatments in both short and long terms. I've always been incredibly happy and confident with his care. I'm so grateful for Dr. Ku's expertise and dedication to his work. Legitimately best dentist I've ever been to, hands down. Dr. Ku was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and flat out just a really nice person. He made me feel extremely comfortable, which was huge for me because I tend to really dread the dentist after some bad experiences. The receptionist and hygienist were also great, as well as super friendly, and welcoming. The entire experience was painless and professional, and the office is pristine and new. Every question I had was answered and explained, and they took the time to make sure I understood the breakdown of cost. Additionally, when educating me about products I could purchase from them, there was no pressure; it was entirely up to me if I wanted to move forward with a purchase or not. It's always frustrating to go somewhere and have the team harass you into a decision you might not be ready to make yet. There was none of that with W Plus. I have already told a bunch of friends who need a good dentist in the area to go here and for once am not dreading my future dentist visits! read more
