Great manager, great sales agent, female employee in service department is the best - you want something done right go to her and her alone. We had the Cilajet application on our brand new Subaru. I think this may have been a waste of money because we have scratches on the hood and we were told that it would not be covered under warranty because they were too deep! Why did I pay for a product that does not do what it was guaranteed to protect? Wackerli itself isn't at fault for this but I am curious if they didn't apply it "heavy" enough. I would recommend Wackerli to anyone looking for a Subaru at a good price and expect top customer service. read more

I own a 2008 Subaru Outback and was hit a pothole at about 25 mph in early 2020. The power steering pump was slammed into the radiator causing the vehicle to overheat. I brought the car in to be repaired among the $3,800 of damage the transmission pan was leaking. I then took my car to a different establishment in April 2020 and shortly after the oil and coolant systems burnt up causing an additional $1,100 of damage. In the process of repairing the $1,100 of damage one of their technicians cracked one of the cylinder heads causing an additional $4,500 of damage. The $4,500 was covered by the dealership but was easily preventable. In September 2020, as a part of routine maintenance I was told that I needed to replace the rear struts and brake pads. This was $1,100 and needed. However, I was told 3 months later after only 5,000 miles the brakes needed to be replaced again. In addition to this false brake concern leaks in the steering rack and transmission pan which were allegedly repaired in February were leaking once again. I moved elsewhere in the fall of 2021 and have been fighting these leaks that I was told were fixed in February 2020. The car was worth about $2,000 when I bought it in September 2019 and because of Wackerli's faulty repairs it is now worth -$7,400. read more

If I could rate them lower, I would. I bought my first Subaru here (2015 forester) and had it serviced at the dealership the entire time. This model had more recalled parts than any other car I have owned. One part being the break light switch. The dealership replaced the part and the car ran very rough afterward. I took it back in within 2-3 weeks and they told me that I needed to replace the transmission which would cost me $8k. They said they would do me a favor and bring in an old transmission from a car that was totaled and only had 60k miles on it. They charged me $3k. The car was only about 4 years old, 100k miles. The following week I took the car solo camping and became stranded. While driving the car, I would press the gas pedal but the car would break to almost a complete stop. Image driving down the highway going 60 mph and the car breaks leaving the driver with no control over the speed. To this day I don't know how no one ran into me. I took the car into another dealership to have them look at it and they found that the break light switch had been installed incorrectly (at an angle) which caused the rough idle and breaking uncontrollably. So basically the dealership screwed up the break light switch installation which then made the car run bad and they misdiagnosed it and sold me a used transmission instead of fixing their mistake. They refused to take any responsibility and double kept insisting they gave me a good deal on a used transmission that I never really needed. Avoid them like the plague. read more

I got stranded in the mountains of Idaho (6 hours from "home") and my Subaru Ascent was undriveable. It was towed to Wackerli the day before Thansgiving and Mitch and Doug drove it back to me ( a 3 hour round trip) on Friday so I could return home on Saturday! I have not had a great expereince with Subaru for the 3 years I have owned my Ascent but Mitch did everything he could to change that perception! I bought a 2023 Forester Touring from Wakerli Suburu in Idaho Falls,Idaho a couple of weeks ago and the sales person was wonderful. Sarah answered all of my questions and helped me thru the entire process. When I took the car back in for the clear coat and invisible bra, the shop people were great! They supplied my with a loaner car, that I tried to talk them out of, to use for the rest of the day, while wsiting for my car to be done. The service people were great to work with. We went there based on a friend's recommendation. They said they had a referral program. After over 6 attempts to get the referral to our friend, it never happened. When I call they say someone will call back. No one has ever called. I don't recommend them to anyone for this reason alone and when it comes to our needs, as much as we like to stay within our city, we will go to Pocatello or Rexburg. read more

Our 2019 Subaru Ascent started acting up during a long road trip. We drove into this dealership at 4:50pm ( they close service at 5pm) and they agreed to look at the SUV. It appeared to be a transmission issue and even tho they were booked, they agreed to work on the car the next day. The part needed to be ordered from out of state but they promised that it would be fixed by the end of the next day. The transmission came later than expected and the installation took some time. But, the technicians stayed late on a Friday night and had the car ready for us by 7:30 PM. That's good service. They knew we were staying in a hotel with 3 dogs and had a 1000 mile journey ahead of us and went above and beyond. I highly recommend them for any service needs! Also, they have a dog park on the property so your dogs can have fun while you wait. Only suggestion would be to have a bench or some chairs in the dog area for the humans waiting. read more

DO NOT GO HERE, THEY WILL TRY TO SCREW YOU OUT OF $5,000 TO COVER THEIR TRACKS. I could not recommend this place any lower. They will screw you over in an attempt to protect themselves when they've made a mistake. This is a bit of a long story, but it needs to be shared. I called Wackerli in January 2019 to schedule my valve spring recall. At the time, I had a small leak in my camshaft carrier seal. I asked if they'd fix that and they said they'd be willing to do it for free. February, the appointment comes and they tell me that it'll cost $300; I say fine, go for it. They call me back the next day saying that it's going to cost $750- what?? I talk them down to $600 with both brake sets being replaced; they agreed. They call me back the next day saying everything is done and that they didn't need to replace the front brakes because they are still within range; I told them that wasn't the deal and that they said they'd replace both sets of brakes. They wanted me to pay full price even though they did not complete all the services we agreed upon. They pass me to the manager, Cody, and he tells me that he can't go any lower on the price. At this point, I called Subaru Corporate and they paid for $300 of it, leaving me to pay the other $300. I then asked Cody if he could start a oil consumption test on the vehicle and he told me that he didn't want to do any further business with me. At this point we had been nothing but reasonable and polite in all of our interactions with their team despite the fact they continuously screwed us over. Cody was EXTREMELY unprofessional in his interactions with us over the phone. At this point, I say fine, and start looking for other places to do it. He calls me back after changing his mind and tells me he'll start it. So he starts it and I go pick up my car. I started hearing a ticking noise. Our engine was perfectly fine beforehand, with no unusual sounds, and as soon as we get our car back from their custody something is wrong? That's shady. So we take it back to them and he simply comes back out to me and says "You need a new engine, sell the car right now or pay $5000 to have this one repaired". He gave us no explanation as to what caused it either. So I call Subaru Corporate again because that was really shady. I end up taking it down to another Subaru where they confirmed that the work that was done by Wackerli was faulty; they messed up my timing chain tensioner, destroying the engine and leaving it with almost no compression and blown bearings/valves. They said that by the time we got to them our engine was only 50% working because of the mistakes Wackerli had made. That Subaru then worked with Corporate to replace my engine without making me worry about anything else. They confirmed that the work done by Wackerli was faulty and caused the problem. read more

I have taken 2 cars here. We had to go to someone else to fix the job they have done. They don't catch small problems before they become an issue. Their service is slow. Days just to calibrate for a new windshield? I now drive to Pocatello for all service if I'm able. read more

My Touareg has been in the shop since August 6, 2012. I didn't purchase it there, so they are in no hurry to help me out. Today is Sept 3, 2012. Twice I was told it would "be ready this week." Once, in fact, I was told it was ready. I drove the hour (I live in Pocatello, ID) and go there. The Touareg died when they tried to drive it across the road from the service garage. My husband and I came in to look at 2018 Crosstrek's last fall. We test drove one, talked with the salesman, he gave us his number and asked us to text him with any questions we had. We tried multiple times to text him to negotiate on price and we never got a response. I tried e-mailing. I put in multiple requests to speak with somebody through their website, with ABSOLUTELY ZERO response. Now, my husband and I are pretty young, and on the particular day we met with the salesman, I had a pretty severe umbilical hernia, so I was dressed rather "comfortably" for lack of a better term because I was in pain. Meaning I was in sweat pants and a t-shirt with a jacket, and my husband was dressed similarly, so I'm sure we didn't look like the epitome of wealthy or serious car-buying people. We chalked their ignoring us up to them not thinking we were serious about buying a car, so we talked with Phil Meador Subaru in Pocatello and within 2 weeks, we had put in a custom order for a Limited 2018 Crosstrek and couldn't be happier with how we were treated by the sales staff and management. The ONLY reason I am giving this dealership 2 stars is because the man who was at the service counter when we took our car in for an oil change was extremely friendly and helpful. Our car also needed a fog light replacement at this time, and when they brought the car out to us, they (the technician who I'm guessing worked on the car) said the fog lamp was working just fine. When I told them that was impossible because the bulb was completely shattered, the guy at the service desk personally made someone go out and start the car in front of him to check. Sure enough, the bulb was broken and had not been replaced. He was obvious frustrated by this, and told us that he would make sure it got fixed right away, which he did. If I were to ever buy another car (which we are planning to after we pay off our current Crosstrek in 3-ish years), we will probably once again go to Phil Meador Subaru. read more

Great service! I called for pricing and they had a fair price, $2000 cheaper than the company I had originally asked. Cody took care of me, paid for $50 of my car tow, grabbed my car the next morning, told me it'd be a week to fix and it was accurate. I could have had it a day earlier but they wanted to test drive it to make sure everything was good which I really appreciate. The whole time I was updated on my cars status. We had decided on a certain price at the beginning, it turned out to be a little more, so they played around with the pricing to match what we had originally talked about which I really really appreciate! I recently purchased a new vehicle from Wackerli VW in Idaho Falls. I was very pleased with the service provided by the dealership both during and after the deal. They have been very proactive to make sure I was satisfied with the car and completely understood its operation. During the dealing, I spoke with the Sales Manager directly during the final deal, and didn't feel that any "strong-arm" techniques were used to get me to purchase the vehicle that day - in fact the dealing was fairly painless and I feel that I received a good deal. I would recommend this dealership for the purchase of a vehicle. The only reason for 4 stars is because it's 50 miles away from where I live. Wackerli is a very unreliable dealership. They don't hold up to their promises or work. I had an engine problem with a Forester with fairly low miles, had my engine was replaced. At a large cost. My engine continued to have problems and took it to another Subaru dealership, was told that Wackerli didn't do the work that they had told me and that I had no warranty. Wackerli told me I had a warranty on new engine. Had to deal with Subaru National Headquarters to try and get things straightened out. Basically they lied to me, ended up firing service representative etc. They never offered me a loaner car, was without a car for many weeks. They made other promises they didn't keep. I highly suggest you don't to business with this dealership. read more

My wife and I bought a new Outback Wilderness and have determined it to be the worst buying experience we have encountered in 40 years of purchasing vehicles. Due to lack of vehicle availability (COVID) and Wackerli being the closest Subaru dealer (140 miles), we purchased the Outback that was enroute from the factory at full MSRP (no discounts). As expected, we put down a deposit and signed a contract. We were going to trade in our existing 2020 vehicle (perfect condition/garage kept) and had less than 9,000 miles. We had the vehicle present and requested a trade-in estimate. The salesman stated that they would not give us an estimate until we pick up the new vehicle (red flag-1). We asked for a ballpark, and he stated that it would be the top end of NADA (J.D. Power) or Kelly Blue Book (red flag-2). We then asked if they could look up the current trade-in value, understanding that it may change slightly. They once again said not until we pick up our new vehicle (red flag-3). We were concerned that not getting a ballpark trade-in price would cost us dearly when we came back for pickup due to not being able to negotiate after driving 140 miles and having to drive trade-in vehicle back home while also having to pay cash for our new Outback (which we ended up doing). We moved forward in hopes that we were dealing in good faith (naive mistake in today's world). Upon arriving to pick up our new Outback, the salesman sheepishly gave us a trade-in value that was $12,900.00 less than the lowest trade-in/wholesale value of NADA or Kelly (upon our request to see their printed NADA sheet, they reluctantly gave it to us and it showed the lowest NADA and Kelly price to be $12,900.00 higher than they offered us). He and the sales manager then stated that they never told us that they would give us NADA or Kelly. My wife and I were appalled at their statement, having only learned about NADA trade-in prices (JD Power) through the salesman telling us to look up the value during our first visit. They then became defensive and said they could buy my trade-in brand new for $32,000.00. Upon getting home that evening we pulled up new prices for our trade-in and did not find any dealers within 500 miles less than $40,740 (with discounts)! Lesson Learned!!! Salesman Chad was extremely patient and supportive and didn't put any pressure on me at any time. Before buying I also spoke with the Service Manager (Cody) about some concerns I had and he was helpful and patient in answering my questions. Joe was also very helpful during the process and he and Chad worked well together to finalize the sale of a 2019 Outback to me in February. Terrible office staff. Their secretary was ignorant and rude. We bought a used car, we test drove it twice and both times the car was dead. We told them we were concerned, the officer manager told us that because we were getting such a great deal on the car they weren't required to replace the battery. The sales person said she would make sure it was a good battery. We had it one day, the next morning when I was supposed to head to work the car was dead. They didn't give us all the paperwork for the DMV- we asked twice to make sure and they said we did. When we had to go back because they hadn't given us all the paperwork, the secretary told us we would have to wait a week till the office manager was back from vacation. She wouldn't even speak with the sales person. My husband then called the salesclerk and she said she could get it for us. Recently had an oil change done here and was shocked at the increase in price since my last visit. I regularly get my oil changed here and since the last time I was here they charged me almost 25$ more for the same thing. They also no longer include tire rotations unless you want to pay 15$ extra. Instead of costing my 65$ for an oil change it now costs me 90$. As soon as my warranty is up I will be finding someone else to change my oil. read more

The manager was very nice and reasonable and they replaced my windshield for me within a week. Took it back and they wanted to charge me 800 in parts and labor that I did not need. Was told that spark plugs had been changed and they were not. I still have my check engine light on. My Wife and I were on a ten day trip out of Salt Lake City with our three dogs. We made it to the first rest stop just inside Idaho and when we went to start the car, nothing. We just knew our trip was doomed, since we were on a timeline to get to a cabin we rented before dark and this was on a Saturday. We called AAA and they came and jumped the car for us. We were afraid that if we stopped again we would be in the same situation. We called the closest subaru dealership but they were closed and finally called Wackerli Subaru from the road and explained our situation. I apologize for not having the names of the associates that helped us, the card and the names I made sure to write down got misplaced on the trip. After our explanation the service associate said sure no problem we can fit you in. We found the dealership and were welcomed inside with our three furry family members. Another associate asked if we needed anything and another brought a bowl of water for the pooches. We went to walk the dogs outside and the service manager and the technician came to us to explain what was happening and that it was our battery and nothing else. we discussed options and then agreed on a new battery. The care was brought back out and we loaded the pooches, thanked everyone for saving our trip and continued on in less than an hour and a half from start to finish. This should also be said that there was only one service technician on duty that day and already had plenty of work. Everyone at this dealership made us feel more than just like customers, if this dealership was closer we would have no problem saying we would give them our business for as long as they were around and would recommend them to anyone we could. You all saved our trip, went out of your way for us and our furry family members and your respect, professionalism and kindness will not be forgotten. read more
