Came to the park for a kid's birthday party. Plenty of gazebos to have events and plenty of parking. If you are looking for walking trails, this is not the park to come to. There is a very nice playground in the back of the park. read more

HORRIBLE experience today at this YMCA. I feel Rosa, the woman at the front check-in, made it her mission and got some kind of enjoyment out of ruining my day. From the moment I walked in, nothing but attitude and drama. There was a block on my account, I try explaining yes I was here a few days ago and I spoke with member services right behind you and they said they were submitting a ticket to have it removed. She said well I can't let you in. (There's a bit of back and forth) I walk to member services and she literally follows me like I'm stealing from a store or something. I sit down and begin talking to Celestine - Rosa repeatedly interjects and I ask her "why are you bringing this energy over here? I'm dealing with Celestine now please go back over there". She eventually returns to the front check in once prompted by Celestine. Celestine takes a look at my account and it shows as active on her in. Eventually the wellness director (a very nice lady) comes over, calls corporate and gets it resolved. The wellness director tells me I'm good to go. I go back to the front desk and Rosa (again with an attitude) tells me I need to take a picture I tell her I look crazy and can't today. She says she can't let me in. (Mind you I've had a membership for YEARS and have never been treated like this or had an issue). The Wellness Director tells me that is their policy but to just go enjoy my workout for today. I tell her no thank you and that I'm going to leave as I feel it was Rosa's personal goal to ruin my day regardless. read more

This location needs an overhaul in organization and policy. Now upon getting ready to enjoy the outdoor pool, we were the met with so many unnecessary rules and regulations, as well as unpleasant and the unwelcoming nature of the life guards. 1. We were first informed, before even undressing, to pick up a piece of paper in front of us and throw it in the trash. It was not ours but we did it anyway. Ironically, passing from the front gate to the back, I saw a few other pieces of trash that should have already been governed. 2. As my 4yo was entering the 3 feet, shorts not even wet, we were told he could not be in there if we were not actively in there because of the rowdy bigger kids. He is well over 3 feet and was not even asked if he could swim or not. We were also standing right there by the way, just not in the pool yet only because they were excited and we hadn't gotten fully undressed. Besides, why should we not be able to enjoy because of the behavior of others that should be removed and are way too big for a 3 foot pool? 3. Finally, we are able to enjoy 10 minutes without incident. Then it is break time. Now we are told everyone had to leave and can come back after the break, which is absurd and has no consideration for a family with little ones having to gather them up and dress them. 4. As we are dressing to leave, we are then rushed by the guards, hovering, waiting to execute the next rule: shirts before entering. However, just before asking us about the shirts and after we were being rushed off, the female guard attempted to squeeze in "don't play with the pool noodle that way" to my child. We were DONE! Maybe if we were not so overwhelmed, we would happily comply but we just decided to leave the premises and NEVER return. A suggestion would be to inform people via a welcoming to the club tour or overview upon entering or even a flyer with do's and don't s. I did explained to the receptionist that this was our first time and that we did not have receive our cards yet, so that would have been a great time to let us know all of these stipulations in order to make an informed decision if Wade Walker was the best for our family and not waste an evening of our precious time. The director did respond to the above via email and it seemed promising that they would be more clear and considerate of families. However, I called to inquire about their outdoor pool guest passes and they canceled them for the summer! This was odd because there are only 3 locations that allow guest passes for the outdoor pool and the Gwinnett location in that is 40 min away conveyed that cancellation of guests passes is not a common practice. This location is not conducive to honoring the elements of the membership, which is a shame. read more

RUN don't walk away from this facility if your thinking about placing your children in any of their childcare facilities I would be very mindful NOT to do so. My son who has mental health conditions that they were aware of at sign up, was treated horrible at this place. As other reviews said below the summer camp was the worst of ALL TIME . These people mentally and verbally abuse children. Especially the lead childcare member Ms.Culepper. The executive director Lorna Loh does nothing but cover up the abuse. The director Lorna also lied to parents for over a year during the after school program telling parents they could not access the facility around their children, which was not true and breaking a state mandate. I'd also like to mention their after school van that the kids sit on is filthy and I could not believe during covid that the bus wasn't being cleaned!! The camp Counsleors also had the children sitting in the hot sun for hours during camp, and did not provide the children water during heat waves, they also made all the children uncomfortable when they spoke up or asked for anything including food and water. Lunch often would arrive very late and children were STARVING. I would order my son lunch sometimes so he wouldn't be hungry and they made that an issue! I could go on for days about how bad this place is, I wouldn't even trust my child in the small daycare while you workout, because if anything happens to your kid the director will lie and help them cover it up! Like she covered up when my sons head got hurt in her facility! Also be careful of your kids in the pool if they can't swim, the lifeguards are all teenagers and they spend the entire time on their phones. Multiple times I saw kids safety in jeopardy while lifeguards were texting away. I hope this place is investigated! This is scary! read more

This was my second event at this park the only thing I have to say is there should be first aid kits on the property I myself had a nasty fall and was bleeding kind of bad and all I had was some tissue for my wound usually i would have my own but I forgot it I fell trying to catch my decoration but it would have been helpful if there would have been something to help me out other than that it's a really nice park to have an event. read more

The manager made my daughter cry today. Upon leaving the pool at 7:45 pm, I took my 4 children to shower. I was washing my kids when the banging on the door started, it was scary my kids started panicking, my little girls started crying. The sound was disturbing, it was the manager, I can't remember her name but she is Asian. She continue to bang the door every min or so for about 5 times. At last I opened the door and showed her my undressed kids who were scared of what she was doing. She said we were the only one they waiting on to close, but we heard her doing the same thing to next door. It was frightening experience for us. Imagine if I was a veteran with PTSD. Was not professional and unnecessary. read more

Review is on the Playground BEHIND the YMCA: Did you know that there is an awesome playground hidden down the small road behind the Y? No, its not the little one by the soccer field, but just passed them. This playground is great for all ages with tons of area to run around. One thing that I really like is that it is completely covered which means that during the summer heat, the equipment won't burn the little kids. They have multiple slides and climbing material as well as a giant rocking sailboat looking thing. The one feature that I was a little disappointed about (mostly because it is the reason I came here) is the zip line feature where there is supposed to be an elevated seat, not far off of the ground, where a child can be pushed and it glides along a rounded structure like a big circle. The seat is not missing so you have this large space that is no longer used. I am not sure if the seat just broke or if someone got injured. (I am going to guess that at least one little child could have been kicked in the head if they ran under it while someone was on it). Either way, the park is very clean and there are bathroom facilities near by. You do not need to be a Y member to use this playground, but since you do enter the road by the Y building, it could be confusing. read more

Best place in Stone Mountain according to my kiddos This YMCA offers so much! So once you sign up for your membership: You're greeted walking right into the door by the front desk associates. Then you can come work out in their Wellness area and they even offer a wellness coach to get and keep you on the right track to good health. Wellness Wednesdays is set up to check your blood pressure and weight from 10am-12pm. Then across from wellness is The Children's Playcenter! Drop the kiddos off while you work out or take a class yes they offer classes! Yoga ‍ Zumba, Water Aerobics, etc. Downstairs is the basketball court and on the mid level is an indoor track. Also on the mid level there's 2 pools indoor/outdoor, whirlpool, and sauna ‍ They offer swim lessons and they have a sports department! Sign the kids up for soccer, basketball, or baseball. And they offer rental spaces have your birthday, baby shower, or next business meeting there. Last but not least the top level has the cycling room. It's like your one stop shop. Nice big park. My children love it here. In the summer it is very packed. We never had any issues with broken equipment or swings. Make sure you keep a close eye on your children because you will see a few of bay bay's children. read more

Wow! I am in love with this new system this YMCA has put in place. I can do everything from the app on my phone. To participate in anything the YMCA offers you have to register for everything through the app. Today we reserved a lane in the pool and it wasss sooooo warmmm. The time slots is for only 45mins and 15 mins before your reserved time they are cleaning the pool around the clock. The YMCA hours are 7-1 and 3-7 from 1-3 they have this time reserved strictly for cleaning. We also enjoyed the outside kiddy water area. Social distancing is strictly enforced here. read more

I use this gym and the staff is wonderful. It's a great family space that I always feel welcomed at.

The Y in my community is a beautiful establishment. Well kept. Seems to be bustling with activities. Front end staff seems pleasant and accommodating. I am however gravely disappointed in management team. I went to book the multi purpose room a little over 3 weeks ago and was instructed to put my request on a inquiry sheet and expect a call from the staff member in charge of this aspect of the business. After 6 days of waiting I returned understanding things get busy for everybody at times. Upon arriving and making inquiry about my request I was told to put my name on the list again and call the next couple of business days. I did that to no avail. I returned less than a week later in hopes of catching this illusive character, again to no avail. I was then instructed to shoot her an email because "she's terrible with phone calls and return" really? How responsible. I shot her an email and here I am waiting another few days with no acknowledgement of my visits, phone calls, and email. It is quite disconcerting that an establishment with such great reputation allows one person to sully the image of the brand. I'm not going to hold my breath for a call, since is not good at that stuff... read more

I've only been to the YMCA building itself for community events, and it seems totally decent. I use the playground at the park with my baby boy sometimes, and it's okay, but given that it's in a relatively remote corner of the park, and that I have literally never seen another family in that part of the park -- I mean not one single time in many visits -- there are potential security issues which single moms, especially, should bear in mind. Occasionally a lone adult male will hang out on a bench near the playground -- and hey, it's his park too -- but that will almost always be the only other person in sight or within earshot, regardless of how long you stay. That said, I still use the park, my son loves it, and I wish more families would use it. Playgrounds at Gwinnett parks are in use by families all day long, and it would be great to see more of that here in DeKalb, and at Wade Walker. read more

I really enjoy being a member of this YMCA. The staff is friendly and most of the time they greet you with a smile. The bathrooms are well maintained and the entire facility is clean. Although being a member of the Y costs more than a regular gym membership, it's worth it due to all of the amenities it provides. Also, you can have a personal trainer help you with your fitness goals and keep track of your progress on their I-fit software. read more

Great park for a family bbq or a party. It's actually bigger than you would expect behind the YMCA. They have fields, tennis courts, parks and lots of pavilions. I have only been here twice for a child's birthday and a graduation party. I feel like there was plenty of space so I wasn't next to or near any of the other parties/pavilions. Also the pavilions have lights inside and power outlets!! That made me happy read more

I am at the Wade Walker YMCA, six days a week. Actually, it's my second home. All of the employees are friendly and helpful. The "Y" provides all kinds of classes for seniors, and all ages of young adults. All of the classes are A+ and the activities for the kids are outstanding. There is also a pool table in the teen area, and that is great. The bathrooms and pool are well taken care of. I can't say enough about that. I feel at home each day that I walk into Wade Walker because I feel like family. Thank you Wade Walker staff for all that you do for your members.
