I no longer will go here I was going every week and catering every month. I tried it twice after Monir sold it. The kabobs are now miniature kabobs. Like wtf. and you don't get the chicken portions like before 3 or 4 small pieces the new owner is not very generous. . Portions are small....i had guests and it was embarrassing to get a plate like that when I picked up. If they won't add more chicken or make the kabobs larger I will never step a foot inside or order and I never complained before to Monir. All of sudden things changed to the worst. The food here is authentic, however it's a small folksy, provincial mom-and-pop diner with no frills quality food. Seems this place is suited to take out and catering and not so much for in house dining. They have about 4 tables that can accommodate 5-8 people comfortably. Food is served with styrofoam and plastic utensils. The wraps are excellent and particularly a good value and I would come back to order that again. read more

just like Mei L's review below, i admit, i am an EMOTIONAL eater. when the world seems like it's caving in on me, there's nothing more comforting then a steaming bowl of ramen, a tender cut of steak, or the ORIGINAL san francisco treat- "It's It". trying to choke down a green salad after a hard day is like ending a hot date with just a handshake. and nooo, not THAT kind of handshake. dirty dirty... so i go out of my way to zero in on joints that are delicious, hearty, and most of all- healthy. luckily in los angeles, where over half the population is either a 'model' or an 'actor', these places are quite abundant. problem is, this isn't los angeles. it's glendora. where you can usually sit down and break bread with marie callender, or dominos. both of which, the bread is actually..quite hard to break. which added to my shock, when Waffa's Kitchen came up on 'what's hot on yelp'. yes. my trusty yelp app. mediterranean food? in azusa? hmmm...... it's located relatively close to azusa pacific university, and located in a humble little strip mall. the place is bright, and bustling with activity. though i must say, this is not exactly a sit down and eat kinda place. it is mainly a catering place it seems, with three small tables inside for those lucky customers. the owners were extremely warm and open, having only recently been in their current location for one year. we all ordered the chicken shawarma plate which went for about 10 bucks a pop. now this may seem like a good price to some, but it might be a bit high for students. and as i recall... Amir's Falafel in the valley has the same amount, but for only 7.50. just sayin... the food came out within 5-6 minutes. the chicken was tender, perfectly seasoned and cooked, which made the orgy of hummus, garlic crack sauce and yellow rice all the more delicious. makes me feel like a kid in a sandbox, mixing everything, and gobbling everything down. yummmm..... minus the random debris. and there was even a small side salad, with the mint tinted dressing, light and biting at the same time. we ate in silence. out of respect for the food. i tried to finish it, but failed. instead i bought another two plates to take home. total: 34 dollars (including bottle of water, please ask for tap water if you don't want to get charged). would i come back here again? most definitely, but make sure to have a mate come with to help you eat. unless you wanna ruin your healthy food diet... with too much...well. food. that being said. grub away my friends. spread the word. glendora's moving on up.... read more

Last semester my good friend Thu and I decided to emotionally eat after taking a brutal exam. Eating always makes us feel better haha. and Waffa's didn't dissapoint. We were in Glendora, and didn't want to go far and I needed to go to B of A on Vermont and Foothill. On our way there I saw this place and suggested we stop by to look. Waffa, the owner, and her husband warmly greeted us and told us about the various plates they make, and the Lebanese finger foods (forgive me people of Lebanese decent!! best way I can explain them!) like Lahamajoun, etc. The cheese pies, meat pies, and spinach pies are so damn good. The finger foods are 75 cents each, and the plate are about 8-10 bucks. You get a GRIP of food (and that says a lot because my fat ass can EAT): two pita breads, salad, full bed of rice pilaf thingy, your meat choice, garlic spread (better than Zankou fo sho), and hummus. The meat is marinated soooo well and is always juicy! They make everything themselves except for the pita bread (only downside). Don't expect to dine in as they do mostly catering services and dont offer a server type experience. They do have three small tables, and I don't think they offer drinks.... but there is a liqour store next door. Also, they take a bit of time since they cook when ordered. EVERYONE I have taken here has loved the food. Across the street from Brianwood Automotive in a small shopping center with a liquor store, barber shop and some kind of bakery/cafe thing that looks shady. We are so pleased with Waffa's Kitchen that we had them cater our wedding. The entire experience with Waffa's was wonderful--they were a delight to work with and provided our guests with a beautiful array of Mediterranean fare. We actually enjoy the small, low-key setting of the place. We've never seen it overcrowded and have felt very comfortable eating there. It feels like eating in your Mediterranean mom's kitchen. As for the food, Waffa makes the best falafel I've ever had, and the chicken is delicious also. All the plates come with a phenomenal hummus, rice, and salad, as well as sauces to accompany. We have not tried a place with better grape leaves and baklava too. It's a generous amount of fresh, healthy, tasty food for a great price. read more

The food here is incredibly delicious. 5 stars for their food, 2 stars for my overall experience. The last time I was here was about three weeks ago for lunch with my boyfriend. We placed our order and while waiting for our food, an incident occurred that made me not want to step foot in this place again. An older woman walked in with her dog and literally waited 15-20 minutes for her food by the cash register and then proceeded to walk to the kitchen with her dog. I thought that was disgusting! I personally think it's inconsiderate and well, gross for a dog to be in the kitchen while my food is cooking. I've eaten at Waffas 4-5 times. I try to find hidden gems to patronize. On my initial visit, I was seeking healthy & delicious food that's prepared with diligence by a happy person. My chicken kebab plate was good, fresh & hot. I also noticed that dining area is cluttered and not very clean. During each visit, my experience became worse! In the future, I'm going to pass on Waffas. There a several Mediterranean restaurants in the area that I will try. When I dine out, I prefer a place setting. Clean dish ware & silverware are a minimum. This place served me from a styrofoam togo container while her other guests of Mediterranean culture were served on fine dishes & stainless silverware. When I attempted to pay for my meal, a disheveled woman comes from the kitchen wearing heavy duty latex gloves typically used for scrubbing pots, floors, toilets, etc. to take my money. I thought this was disgusting for this woman to handle money, touch everything else at the counter area, including an exchange with a customer & behave as if her actions are acceptable & sanitary. Hospitality is a word that barely captures the essence of Waffa's Kitchen. Tony and his fantastic staff have only met me 2 times and each time the service, the food, the generosity is beyond any place I have ever been. He shares samples of new recipes, cheese bread, deserts. It's all so good. I'm a picky eater with a lot of dietary restrictions and The Chicken Kabob plate (no rice) or chicken kabob over salad is always setup for me perfectly. located close to our home (basically in a small strip mall around downtown glendora), we stopped by waffa's to pick up some dinner to go. we ordered 3 entrees (chicken shawarma, beef kabob, and kefta - ground beef) that came with lots of rice, hummus, pita bread, and salad. also tried out the mini cheese pies and checked in to get free baklava (yay!). out of the three the beef kabob was the standout, kefta a close 2nd, and the chicken shawarma unfortunately resembled dried sliced chicken breast. we all agreed that the rice was delicious - it was perfectly moist without being sticky and had a really great flavor (?chicken broth) to it. the hummus was smooth and i'd really recommend trading out the traditional salad for the tabouleh since the tabouleh was refreshing and you can tell that it was made same-day. friendly service, great portion sizes (seems like 2 people can share 1 dinner entree), and fresh food. wouldn't recommend eating at the restaurant since they only have 2 tables and would recommend to place your order by phone beforehand since they cook to order and we had to wait a while for our food. read more

I've ordered take out from Waffa's at least 5 times. Baklava - very fresh, super good. I wasn't in love with Baklava before, but I was after Waffa's. I was used to honey drenched, sticky, soggy, messy baklava. Waffa's layers were crisp and had the right amount of nuts and honey. I bought a whole package. I tried all their kebab plates, rice, hummus and some small side dishes. They were all very fresh and well made. The meat wasn't dry, which is sadly a common thing with kebab places. I love Waffa's. It's better to call your order in to give them time to prepare it. I once walked in and waited about 10 minutes. The wait is worth it, but you can save yourself some time by calling it in. It's quite a drive for me to get to this place, and my friend (who lives in the area) and I just decided to give it a try while driving by, and boy am I glad I did. I loved this little place! I eat Mediterranean food all day long, and I am very judgmental about it, and I think their food was delicious, fresh and A LOT! They give you so much you have to take home....which is really good for the price. The man, who I believe owns the place, along with another lady, were so nice to us. They give you a free baklava with yelp check-in, and they check on you, and have a pleasant way of speaking to you. I love stumbling across small businesses owned by hard working families. You know that you will always get that extra bit of love when you come across someone who is passionate about what they do. I am a sucker for Mediterranean/Persian foods and finding one so close to home that I love makes me one happy camper. I have been here several times already and everything is fresh and well cooked. My favorite are the chicken and beef kabobs of course. However even though I am not known as a dessert person, their baklava is stupid good. I love the pistachios they use on top, gives it a great texture and flavor component I haven't had before at other joints. I would love to see a gyro spit going since I love a good gyro. Seriously can NOT say enough good things about Waffa's cooking. This is not your typical dining experience ... If you're looking for a romantic setting, this may not be the place but if you are looking to fill your tummy with some of the yummiest food in this area, you're in the right spot! Meals are served in a "To Go" container even if you decide to hang there and eat. I recommend you bring your own drinks, which you can get at the convenience store two doors down ... Buy your drinks AFTER you order though; cuts down on the wait time. Any good home-cooked meal takes time and love to prepare and that's exactly what you'll get here. All the fixings and such a good deal. If you're familiar with Mediterranean food, I recommend you call ahead and place your order. Waffa will take good care of you and give recommendations if you're simply not sure. Trust her!! The wait time is roughly 20 to 30 minutes ... primarily because it's cooked when ordered. Allow me for a moment to gush about the food here. The hummus is brimming with subtlety, with a nuttiness, an oiliness, a distant sweetness and a smooth texture which makes it so good you might just eat it all on its own. The Keftah has a smokey flavor indicating proper cooking implements and skill, and the tomato had a more roasted flavor than I have only experienced previously with home cooking. The rice was practically invisible, yet it too held up the meal like scaffolding under workers... nearly unseen, yet vitally important. In fact, the large yellow grains are tender and have a neutral flavor but very present al-dente texture which carries the meal fabulously. My only disappointment was the spinach pies, but they were cold when I tried them. Hot, I'm sure they are better Also the Tabbouleh, which varies every place you go, leans slightly towards the more grainy, which I enjoy. It too was good enough to eat alone Almost forgot the Pita. Not stale, nice and hot. The owners are friendly, and treat you like family... for better or for worse! Also this place is clearly arranged more as a caterer than restaurant, so while you can walk in, know the full menu is only for catering. I'm excited to return read more

This place is ONE of TWO places I would never, ever, ever eat again. My son and I visited this place. The young woman who helped us was standoffish, very unfriendly, and aloof. She brought us the menu and although I explained that I did not want certain items from a specific plate selection (and did not want to be charged for them, she said "It's okay" but I ended up paying for the whole darn plate!!! We dined in their dirty, messy, cluttered place and they brought our meals in a TAKE HOME BOX!!! The food was way too lemony, and we didn't/couldn't finish the meals. The Falafel balls were way to overspiced. Overall, this place stinks. It caters to 'their' community... which is what they were doing, catering to their community. Strangers and others, not so welcomed here. They are over-priced and offer lousy service. They do not offer free water, but sell it to you in the bottle and do not give you a cup, nor ice to go with it. The soft drinks are canned and hardly enough to satisfy your need to drink during a regular meal. My son went to the liquor store next door and bought a huge bottle of Gatorade instead. I didn't even get a straw with my water! Appalling! I will never visit this horrific place again. Needless to say, I did not tip them. The $30 for two plates in a take home box were more than sufficient. Disgusting. I am appalled. :( read more

I'm so happy with what I ordered :) The restaurant is small and cozy, and the atmosphere is very friendly. Waffa was so sweet, she even gave me and my childhood friend free Baklava.
