Yum! First time trying Lemon Zest on a Sunday evening after church and boy did it hit! The ambiance was aesthetically pleasing, and our server, Jerica was so nice. We ordered the chicken combo and beef combo, along with a trio of starters: baba ganoush, yogurt, and hummus, and we can't forget the amazing garlic sauce! We were really disappointed with our experience at Lemon Zest Cafe this morning. My fiancé and I came in for lunch and the restaurant was completely empty when we arrived. A waitress brought us waters and a kombucha, asked if we were ready to order, and we asked for just a minute. Shortly after, four people came in and sat at the bar. The waitress then focused entirely on them, including being on the phone getting instructions on how to make their drinks. During this time, we were completely ignored. No check-in, no acknowledgment -- nothing. After waiting about 25 minutes without being able to place an order, my fiancé understandably got frustrated and walked out. I let the waitress know we were leaving because of the wait. There was no apology or concern, and she simply asked me to pay for the kombucha, which I did. In total, we wasted about 40 minutes and never even got the chance to order food. What was most upsetting wasn't just the wait, but the lack of customer service and complete indifference from the waitress. We were genuinely excited to try this place after it was recommended to us, but unfortunately, we won't be returning. Horrible customer service and no remorse whatsoever. read more

I have been to this establishment several times just for drinks. This time I had the opportunity to try there food. I had their gyro with lamb. It took a while for the waitress to come and take our order, and took foreverrr for the food to come out even though there was only one other table being served. I was walking round and stumbled upon this place. One server at 12 noon on a Thursday is "no bueno." Another server came in, looked at me just sitting there and said: "I'm gonna clock in" then I'll come back. The first server who saw me sitting there didn't even ask me if I wanted water. So, server clocks in, I order a beer and ask to see menu. I wasn't hungry but in talking to the server I convinced myself to order some food. 33 minutes later, on my second beer, I asked the same server who took my food order; "where's my food?" The server looked puzzled. Yes, she forgot to put in my order. Quite apologetic, she seemed embarrassed. I cancelled the food order. I had finished my second beer. It's a pretty spot. The patio seems nice. Super clean. But, "NO," I wouldn't recommend a place where the server is so distracted that forgets to put in the food order. It's just bad customer service. I've been on a Mediterranean kick lately and I finally decided to dine at this restaurant. The restaurant is located in downtown Azusa and the ambiance is super cute. It's clean, the bar is beautiful and they also have 2 tvs for game nights. We were seated and given menus right away. Our waitress was the only server and she handled everything pretty well once service started to pick up. To start, I ordered the hummus with pita bread for the table. Their hummus is the best I've ever had! It's fresh, flavorful and the pita bread was warm and seasoned perfectly. I highly recommend the hummus! I ordered the Chipotle Chicken wrap which was delicious. It's served with fries or salad and I chose the fries. The fries were fresh and hit with the perfect amount of salt. My son ordered the Chipotle loaded fries and added chicken for protein. He loved his entree! My mother ordered the Kabob plate with beef and chicken which is paired with salad and rice. She said the chicken was very tender and delicious. I wasn't expecting me to love this place but, I do and it's my new favorite Mediterranean restaurant. The chicken was so tender and moist lamb was bomb. salad and basmat rice all freshly made. Visited Sierra Madre the other day and came here to have an early dinner (around 5 PM). The place is so cute and very well decorated, and the staff is beyond welcoming and kind. The service was truly 10/10. The food was tastsy but my -1 star was due to my overcooked beef kabob. I order the beef kabob plate and was really surprised that I was not asked how I'd like my meat cooked. It was quite well done for my liking which took away from the experience. A excellent blues band had the indoor dining area entertained will we waited for our food. I'll get right to it, this place is gooood. The chicken and salmon kabob had tons a flavor and tasted fresh. Drinks were made to order and the bartender will come to your table to discuss your options. I can't wait to come back try something different off the menu. We've always enjoyed Lemon Zest Café in Sierra Madre, so we were excited to try the Azusa location yesterday (August 21). Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. We arrived at 7:20 p.m., well before their posted closing time of 9:00 p.m. (which is what both their signs and website still show). Instead, the doors were locked. There was one employee inside cleaning, who looked right at us but never bothered to come over or explain why they were closed early. It came across as very rude and extremely unprofessional. If they're going to close two hours earlier than advertised, they should update their hours or at the very least communicate with customers who show up. Sadly, this experience left us questioning if we'll ever return to this location. read more

Love this place! I'm an Azusa resident and love Mediterranean food! I kept saying to myself, I wish there was a local spot I can go to instead of going to other cities. This place really is a gem! The food and workers are always spectacular! The ambiance is so nice which I love! Price point is also good for the great portions. They make great drinks and have an open bar as well! If you don't have gum or a toothbrush with you, you should really just enjoy it at home. The strong raw garlic taste lingers in the mouth for a while. I had the mediterran salad, it was refreshing and the olive was a great touch. The restaurant is furnished with booths and free-standing tables to accommodate larger parties. It also has a fashionable bar counter. I'll start with the fact I barely ever leave reviews. This place had such terrible service that I had to leave a negative review. We never had one official server. Two women just floated around. But the server who took our order never brought any of us our beverages. Some of our food came out wrong. A simple order of truffle fries with no cheese was also forgotten, and when we reminded her, she still brought them out with cheese on them. Got our fries after our meal was completely finished. I asked for ketchup and she said she would be right back. No ketchup. I cannot believe how awful the service was. A nice Mediterranean restaurant in the area. They have an outdoor patio dining in the back which is beautifully lit with lights. I was told they have live music out there as well sometimes! The staff are super nice and you can also order online. I signed up for the text messages and I receive a lot of offers for free item or discounts. I like getting the kabob wraps. I've been a long term customer of Lemon Zest and recommended this place to so many people. After hearing some disappointing experiences from my friends lately my husband and I had to get lunch there today. Sadly to our major disappointment they were not wrong. We ordered our usual combo #1. We waited 45 minutes for our food to get to our table. There were 3 to go orders that walked in way after we ordered our food and they got their food first. Then our food arrived and was surprised to see how small the portions were. This was a place that gave good portions and if you ask me having paid $32 per plate it was a shock to see the small portions. Then to make it worse our Lule was raw. The first bite I take and it's soft and cold as I chewed the meat. We opened the lule and its raw. The waitress took them to get cooked while we had the rice and chicken and by the time they came back we had no appetite and asked for it to go. The waitress gave us one lule kabob to take home but honestly we were just sorely disappointed. You finally find a Mediterranean place that tastes great and are generous with their portions to now not being sure if we should go back. We saw a couple walk in and waited at the door to be seated and the waitress was more concerned about having a conversation with two ladies at the bar than engaging with this couple... I was about to let them know they can seat anywhere but they walked out. It was probably best ... lack of great customer service, rationing portions for the prices and raw food are not good experiences. I don't know. I'm disappointed. We drove passed this place and thought we'd stop by to try it out. It was newly opened and empty at the time we came in. It looked like they were possibly setting up for dinner services in a bit. We ordered our Mediterranean chicken wrap to go. It was a little bit of a wait, but they were really nice and offered us water (also asked if we wanted coffee or anything else). The wrap itself was very flavorful. I think the sauce and chicken were good. I only wished the wrap was a little bigger and that there were more fries inside.
