Hot chocolate is pretty good, it's hot. LOL. The waffle is always hit or miss, like 50/50. It's either cold and hard or fresh and warm. I would suggest asking for a fresh one to be made. It only takes a few minutes. The staff is usually pretty chill. There is no place to seat and eat here. It's more like a hut; you order, and pick up and go. This is my favorite thing about going to Killington Vermont for a weekend of skiing. When I say these are the greatest waffles ever I do not take this lightly. These waffles are so dam good they make you want to jump for joy. The smell of them alone is intoxicating. They are made fresh rite on site and are loaded with sugar crystal so when you bite into it you get this nice subtle crunch and the soft waffle exterior. I like to keep mine simple and not add the chocolate drizzle because it them becomes too much for me. If you haven't been to a Waffle Cabin, you don't know what you're missing out on. Though prices have gone up this season, be sure to order a waffle ($3.75) which has caramelized pearl sugar.. It's so delicious!!!! And if you like chocolate, add the chocolate topping (which is basically chocolate syrup) for an additional $.50.. Yum!! When you get within the vicinity, you can smell the distinct aroma of the waffles cooking in the Belgian-like waffle maker. Ok, so this review is about 5 years late but only because I did not know what a rare gem this is and have been looking for one at every resort I go. I've raved to friends about it and they scoffed that such a heavenly place could exist. Disbelievers. I've been skiing to many resorts in the US and Canada and none have a waffle cabin or more importantly, THE Waffle Cabin, anywhere much less one mid-run on the ski slopes. I still dream and crave this waffle so much so that I looked into buying an imported industrial waffle maker (mere $1500, yikes) and shipping the sugar pearls in from Belgium. I live in Denver now and Colorado with all the glorious resorts around here have no Waffle Cabins except in Crested Butte. Hmm...I smell franchise opportunity. It is in a little brown shack half way the slope and they make it right there in front of you. Nothing but waffles. Personally am not a waffle fan but these are not like any other I have ever tasted. They are heavenly, coated with an almost crunchy melted sugar glaze (like hard candy) and hot and soft on the inside drizzled with chocolate. I skied down the run 3x in one day and got one every time. Yes, it was that amazing. Add a coffee or hot cider/chocolate and it gives you the energy to get down that slope. Screw the calories, just enjoy!! And maybe if your friends are nice, get some extra to go and share with them. read more

My girlfriend and I both agree that if we could choose our last meal, we would finish it with a waffle from the Waffle Cabin. I probably don't need to say anything more here, but I will. I sampled numerous Waffles de Liege while on vacation in Belgium and none came close to those from the Waffle Cabin. The few others I have had in the states were a far from these. The slightly chewy and pliant shell, and warm, soft interior that is studded with chunks of crystalized beet sugar simply cannot be beat. When you do try a Waffle Cabin waffle, do it right and get it straight up (no toppings). It's fantastic enough to stand on its own. read more

The waffles that come from this tiny cabin... are without a doubt... the BEST waffles I have EVER tasted. The aroma that comes from this tiny waffle cabin permeates throughout snowshed and it is so tempting (and worth it) to buy something from the cabin. The waffles are the idealistic treat after a long cold day of snowboarding. Everytime I come back to snowboard at Killington in Vermont, I HAVE to get myself a belgium waffle. The glaze (caramelized pearl sugar) that they put over the freshly made belgium waffle is so delicious and when you bite into it, there is a crispy sticky crunch. Simply put, these waffles could honestly be served in Heaven. I also would suggest trying there warm cinnamon apple cider. It is the perfect blend of sweet and sour and the warmth that comes from the drink spreads through your entire body instantly. I am so glad that Waffle Cabin is still running after all these years.
