    French toast is great.

The ambiance at this place is great, it gives me a classical cabin vibe. The food was peak, the waffles were great, and so was the French toast and eggs. The service was great, our waiter was super polite and the food came super fast. My family had a great time here. This is our new spot!

Like others have mentioned this is an old-time diner that has been in this location for years with pretty much the same staff and repeat customers. Place is large, we've gone there when it's been busy and when it's slow and the service is always efficient and friendly. Prices are also good and portion sizes are large. We like that the meats are good quality, ham, bacon, and sausage. We've tried just about all the diners in Manteca and their bacon and breakfast sausage is the best. Even when we ordered the mini or light entrées, we still end up taking leftovers home. We also like the pancakes which are huge and fluffy.

We were promptly seated on a Sunday at about 1pm and ordered beverages right away. I tried the corned beef hash and eggs, ordered crispy corner beef with eggs on the lighter side as I don't like dry scrambled eggs. Corned beef was mushy, not crispy though. Also ordered the hash browns crispy and it came with biscuits and gravy. My goodness! So so much food! I had at least a whole meal for two left over! Hubby got chorizo and eggs, with potatoes. Again, giant sized and at least another meal. It was good, not great but server was fantastic.

Country Omelette with country potatoes and Enchilada Omelette.

My favorite is the chorizo omelette with a side of strawberries. The omelette is flavorful without being greasy, and the strawberries are always fresh and delicious. The toast is decent, though I think trying a different bread brand could make it even better. The servers are consistently friendly and attentive. The place is narrow, with a long counter running down the length of it and additional seating tucked away in the back. Grab a seat at the counter and the grill is literally right on the other side, so you get a front-row seat to the action while your breakfast is being made. And honestly, the entertainment is half the experience. The cooks and wait staff are constantly joking, talking, and giving each other a hard time. Their friendly banter is so natural that I found myself wondering if this was a family-run business. Whether it is or not, they definitely have that kind of chemistry. They also seemed to know just about every regular who walked through the door. Between the conversations, laughter, open grill, and familiar faces, I couldn't help thinking I'd somehow wandered onto an episode of Cheers, only instead of sitting at the bar with a beer, I was at the counter with coffee and a seriously impressive breakfast. I ordered The Moose Omelet, and apparently the moose isn't just there for decoration. This thing is a beast. Four eggs packed with crisp bacon, linguica, sausage, ham, green onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, and thin-sliced potatoes that reminded me of scalloped potatoes, all folded into the omelet and blanketed with melted cheddar cheese. Their homemade pico was delicious and went perfectly with the omelet. What I liked most about The Mangy Moose is that it doesn't feel manufactured or overly polished. It's a real neighborhood diner with character, generous food, friendly people, and the kind of atmosphere that's becoming harder and harder to find. I may have walked in as the new guy, but it definitely feels like the kind of place where, after a few visits, everybody really would know your name. I'll be back. Five stars.

Everybody is smiling and laughing and talking to the customers. The grill cooks are calling out orders with surgical precision. The clanging of the spatulas and plates sounds like music! I ordered the country fried steak with hashbrowns crispy, and pancakes on the side. You always gotta try the flapjacks at these kind of spots. Of course the pancakes were excellent. You would expect no less... hashbrowns were crispy as ordered and the CFS was on point. Crunchy outer and tender inner. The gravy could've had a little more bang (seasoning) but the overall experience was great. If you're looking for some good breakfast after sliding at the Great Wolf, this is definitely a good spot. As Ahnold would say, I'll be back!

I ordered a plate of crispy hashbrowns topped with tender pulled pork, smothered in rich, creamy gravy, and sprinkled with fresh jalapeños for a perfect kick. Given the multitude of licenses at stake in such enterprises, I wish to share my recent experience at this location. This morning, my husband and I visited, and we were somewhat disappointed with the quality of our orders. He ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk, while I ordered an oat milk latte with an extra shot of espresso at a temperature of 200 degrees. He also selected a ham, cheese, and egg croissant, and I opted for a bacon and cheese croissant. Regrettably, the items did not meet our expectations. The beverages lacked the desired strength; although the temperature was correct, I was informed after placing our order that they were out of oat milk and had to substitute it with almond milk. Given that we had already paid approximately $30, this was quite disappointing. Despite these concerns, we did not request a discount or refund, and we accepted the substitution that was communicated to us approximately 10 to 15 minutes after placing our order. On a positive note, the staff were very courteous, and the establishment was clean. However, I suspect that the items we ordered may not represent the best offerings on their menu. While the service was commendable, there was a notable wait involved. It would have been preferable to have been informed of the oat milk shortage prior to payment, as we might have chosen to leave at that point. Unfortunately, our dissatisfaction led us to seek alternative options, and we subsequently drove to Stockton to visit Peet's Coffee, where we consistently find lattes prepared to our liking. While we may not return to this location, I do not wish to portray it negatively. It is clear that the establishment has potential, yet our experience did not align with our expectations.
