I was at WH last night with my boyfriend, and Priscilla and an older gentleman (I didn't catch his name) were working. I love breakfast and this place is pretty close to where I live, so we frequent this location. The service hasn't always been great, but the food has been pretty damn good. Last night was a great experience. Priscilla was so sweet, and attentive! The food was amazing! The cook made our bacon exactly like we like it, and everything was delicious. This place is located next to the airport so on our last day we stopped by for a quick bite before going home. Got there early (7am ish) theres a lot of workers there but service is extremely slow, they had like 6 people by the grill/stove and no one bother to acknowledge the customers walking in. You can see them cooked your food as you order. The place is a little rundown and on the dirty side. Finally, after waiting for 15 mins we saw someone came to clear the table and told us to sit. We ordered quickly and got our food in no time. Food was okay but would not go back due to how they operate the establishment and how unsanitize it was. read more

My wife and I enjoy Waffle House about once a month, or more often if we are traveling. I picked her up at the airport and that's where she wanted to go for breakfast. I was hungry for some Waffle House hash browns, but I only eat them if they are prepared crispy. And, the missus likes her bacon crispy. I ordered dark roast coffee. The juke box was too loud and the bass level was extremely annoying. Took a little too long to get the coffee. We both ordered scrambled eggs with crispy bacon, crispy hash browns and wheat toast. The music was unbearable. The juke box was playing good songs, but the bass level was way too high. It was thumping and actually vibrating the bench I was sitting on. I asked the server if the bass level could be lowered. She came back and told me it was preset. Well, it was preset by one of those guys who drives up behind you at a stoplight with the bass up so high it rattles your windows. I was ready to leave by now but the coffee finally showed up, followed by the food. Sheri's bacon was not crispy, our hash browns were not crispy, and we both got white toast. I didn't want to wait any longer to eat. My head was pounding from the noise, and I just wanted to get out of the awful place, so I ate the bad food. We did have a good server though. The approach to the building was filthy too. Cigarette butts and trash all over the parking lot. I will never eat at this dump again. read more

This Waffle House is tiny, chaotic, and unclean. There was bread on the floor covering a drain, the waffle irons were a mess and I was ignored by the wait staff. The restaurant is very small and crowded. The only nice part of the visit was the nice lady at the front who was managing the wait-list. There appeared to be more workers than tables. The food at Waffle House is always delicious. Its Fresh and made to order. Friendly staff and decent prices. On this visit our waitress was cheerful and attentive. They were pretty busy so the cook had a bit of a mess in her area but quickly cleaned up as things began to slow down. Food came out quick and hot. My hubby had the pork chops breakfast. The pork chops could have used a bit more season but it was a quick fix with salt and pepper on table. I had the sausage melt which was perfect as always. My son had the Cheesesteak Hashbrown Melt bowl. He enjoyed it. Lots of meat and flavor. Of course the waffles were the star of the show. The only issue on this visit were the bathrooms. God I love this place. For us Californians, Texas is the closest WH we're gonna find and Austin's are the ones we're most likely to visit. ;) So, we discovered it on accident on our first trip out in 2015; driving past it on the freeway we straight up did a double take and did a U-turn and ate there immediately. I didn't know it was possible to find one this far West, so I was ecstatic and my heart was pounding kinda fast. You don't understand -- I love waffles. And it's not that their waffles are amazing, it's that they SPECIALIZE in waffles, and most diners/restaurants in America don't know how to make waffles. They prioritize pancakes, and IF they make waffles, they use the same pancake batter and call that a waffle. It is NOT. So, at Waffle House, there are no dastardly pancakes on the menu, and the food is simple and good. In this particular location, the food is better than the other Austin WH, but both are not nearly as good as the other locations further east. But beggars can't be choosers. Here, I have to ask them to make the waffle extra crispy and they still can't get it crunchy, I've tried like 4 times and it just never quite gets there. But it still tastes better than a pancake! The cheesy eggs ... it is impossible for me to recreate this goodness at home, I have TRIED. GRITS -- in California, actually anywhere outside of the south, you canNOT get grits properly made ANYWHERE, no one knows how to do it. Only oatmeal. Which is just not the same. So here I get my grits and I smash up my sausage in it and I melt my butter in it and I dump pepper on it and it is HEAVEN. HEAVEN! The only thing they're missing is biscuits. Oh, on this last trip, because the wait was so long (Sat breakfast at 10 am, Sunday breakfast at 9 am) we ended up staring around and, for the first time, saw the manager's specials above the grill. The food took way too long to come out, they left out several parts of my party's order, didn't bring out silverware with our food, and had to be reminded three times that we were missing items before we had them brought out to us. No drinks were refilled, and we had to talk to the cooks and bypass the server to get what we ordered. I don't like Dennys. I'd rather go there than return to a wafflehouse. read more

Normally any waffle house I go to is great. However, this one in particular, there's a bum asleep inside at the counter. He smelled really bad. The bathroom was filthy dirty. Toilet paper and paper towel everywhere on the floor. Trash can over flowing. Smelled as if it hasn't been cleaned or sanitized. The countertop wasn't cleaned at all. The servers were friendly. Very personable but seems more concerned of making friends with the patrons then the overall care and hygienic state of the place. read more

I have eaten at this waffle house a few times. I have also placed "to go orders" on occasions. On our way home from church, June 5, 2022, we stopped in this location (7109 W BROAD ST RICHMOND, VA 23294) to place a "to go" order. The servers greeted us when we entered. We walked to the counter and stood for at least three minutes before anyone asked could they help us. The atmosphere was different, very pensive. When I told the server I wanted to place a to go order, she asked an elderly white lady with white hair. The elderly white lady with white hair responded, "no to go orders." The server came back to us and said embarrassingly, "no to go orders today." Why didn't the manager place a sign on the door or window, "NO TO GO ORDERS?" There was no line, and it was not crowded, therefore when we entered the establishment one of the servers could have told us that they were not taking "to go orders" today. By these steps being avoided it left us to gather our own opinion. Did the elderly manager look up and see we were Black, therefore decided she was not serving us today? Was the elderly manager suffering from dementia? Either way it was extremely uncomfortable. Of course, we chose the first, she did not want to serve Black people. When I looked around the restaurant, I only saw white people being served. Needless to say, she was an embarrassment to your organization. If we were younger, we would have caused a scene then went outside and recorded it on the phone. The police would have come and then you would have been looked at as a racist organization. More importantly, the atmosphere was horrible, and I feel sorry for the people who have to collaborate with the elderly lady with white hair. We do believe and feel this was a racist move. Start with a triple order of real hash browns...yes, REAL hash browns, scattered. Extra crispy. Ask for them "All The Way" "Tony..." you ask, "What is this 'All The Way' you speak of?" I'll tell you what "All The Way" is... Take above mentioned hash browns. And then... ...'Smother' them with sweet sauteed onions ...'Cover' them with a loving layer of melted cheese ...'Chunk' them with the smoky porcine goodness, known as ham ...'Dice' them with fresh, juicy, grilled tomatoes ...'Pepper' them with jalapeno peppers...duh! ...'Cap' them with earthy mushrooms (not to be confused with 'putting a cap in them'. that would be rude ...'Top' them with the chili of Bert (made from freshly ground Ernie's) ...'Country' them with the heart stopping sausage gravy ...go the extra mile and finish them with 3 sunny side up eggs and douse liberally with hot sauce. ...eat, sweat, be happy, wake up next day and run to bathroom to suffer the consequences of a big ole plate of happy. Oddly enough, I've never actually had waffles at WH. This is old school diner food at it's best. Friendly staff and most impressively...the cooks work without the benefit of written tickets. Anytime I'm out of town, I have to stop by the local Waffle House. It's an unspoken tradition with me and my husband. We went around 10am on Saturday. It was a bit of wait but the host offered us seats by the back window. The floor was a nasty and the area were sat in wasn't clean. You could still see somes hash brown crumbs. Our waitress seemed to not know what deodorant was considering every time she leaned over I got a nice wiff of her bodily scent. It's not high quality food, and you know that walking in. But those micro thin waffles make the angels sing. Put some sausage on top and soak the whole mess with syrup and you have yourself a gluttonous delight. The loaded hash browns aren't bad either. I always skip the chili but take extra jalapeños. They now offer sausage gravy covered hash browns. These weren't great, but an interesting change of pace. Glad I tried them once. Eggs and omelets and biscuits and gravy are better at a number of establishments. What might not be better is the level of care and attentive service offered here. You can tell the servers are a really tight knit group of ladies. I heard the cook tell a customer "these ladies will know everything about you if you become a regular." Smothered, covered, peppered, chunked, diced, or capped, Waffle House hash browns are the shiznat. Add to that the pecan waffle and a side of bacon and that's road trip food from my youth 'yo. When Austin finally got it's first Awful Waffle a few years ago, you can bet I was one of the first in line for this southern staple. I grew up on pecan waffles and hash browns covered. In high school, this became the go to place after a night of high school-esque partying (read: a keg in a field with a fire that was inevitably broken up by a shout of "run, cops!" at about 10PM). In fact, my younger brother's class was the tour-de-force of eating that made our Awful Waffle stop the All-You-Can-Eat special because they ate that place out of ingredients. In college, we opted for the Kettle as it was the closest to campus, but after college, back home while we looked for where to go next, Awful Waffle was back in business. Que the high school reunion and sitting at the Awful Waffle with my friends until 6AM, watching the sun come up and going home with my high school crush (who would then crush me by getting married two months later). I don't think I've ever eaten anything other than breakfast food at the Awful Waffle even though I know they have it. It's just waffles, hash browns and bacon to me, and a whole lot of good memories. read more

For $6.55 plus tax, you can get the All-Star Special with two eggs, hash browns or grits, bacon or sausage, toast (white, wheat, or raisin), and a waffle or biscuit. That's a ton of food, and it's all so yummy. This Waffle House is consistent in its breakfast so you never have to worry about getting stuck with "that" chef. Their sweet tea is also mouth puckeringly sweet, like drinking straight sugar. SO southern and SO good. They even take credit cards now, y'all. Downside: not a whole lot of seating, so be prepared to wait if you arrive on a Sunday morning For funsies, throw some quarters in the juke box and play the Waffle House songs. read more

It's the only place I've eaten recently where I felt like I had to wash my hands after I ate. If you are reading this review trying to decide where to eat breakfast in Austin you've already made up your mind. It's not they there are a multitude of choices in this end of town. Especially @ 5 AM. I had the opportunity to drop my family at the airport @ 5 AM this morning and it's the only thing open for breakfast and coffee in this area of Austin. It's not bad - it's just eggs, bacon and waffles. The staff was friendly enough but to watch the cook go from mopping the floor to cooking my waffle without washing his hands -- it made me think that he was going to be needing that mop near my table in a minute. (Seriously - do you think that just because you put on latex gloves, your hands are clean? You do realize you used your dirty hands to put on those gloves, right? [Shuttttter....]) And there was some awful smell - that sort of whiff of BO smell you get from somebody who has been working all night and forgot to put on deodorant before they left their apartment, smell. The coffee was weak (hey they should have used the HOT coffee to sanitize the floor - it wasn't that much stronger than water!) But since the cook didn't actually touch my food, I was able to chow it down. And guess what - it tasted like eggs, waffles and bacon. read more

Wow seriously the dirtiest place ive been into in a long time... I think Id rather eat my meal on the toilet and feel more at ease. Walked in and they took 10 minutes to seat us(all the tables in the restaurant were dirty except for the 3 that had people eating at them) and none of them were in any kind of rush, you could tell their job was the last priority. The floor was so dirty it was black and my shoes stuck on every step, along with the sticky table smeared with food and soda. What was even worse was the moment we looked into the kitchen. Disgusting... I guess if the part you show the customers is this bad I would not trust the kitchen being any more clean. I didn't visit all that much and some of the other Waffle Houses I've seen over the years have been a little scary. This location is pretty decent. I wish there was a way I could write a review without giving this establishment a star. We walked in and weren't greeted at all. We sat ourselves at the counter because all of the tables were either occupied or dirty with plates, cups and silverware. Even where we sat, there was food from someone who had already eaten but we sat there anyway. There was an african american older lady by the name of Ann. She came over and placed silverware in front of us. Mind you, there was clearly food on the counter that needed to wiped up. She acted as if she didn't see it and when we asked her to clean it, she just smeared whatever was on the counter everywhere. Back to the silverware... She kept throwing forks and knives in a cup behind her because they were dirty. The silverware she placed in front of us weren't clean either so she should've threw them in the cup along with the others. She walked away and came back 5 minutes later to take our order. She looked down at the silverware, grabbed it and took it away. When she came back, I asked if we could just have plastic silverware. She was then ready to take our order. But, before I could order, there was a roach crawling boldly across the countertop waving it's antennas as if it was waving hello. My eyes almost came from the sockets as I looked at it. She grabbed a napkin and smashed it on the countertop area by the plastic silverware she had given me. She then said, "getting on my nerves". Because she didn't put an address to her statement, I didn't assume she was speaking about us because we hadn't done anything to "get on her nerves". She then said, "I'm sorry! No, I'm not sorry for how these people keep their building". I then started to assume that they have a problem with roaches at that point. She then said, "let me clean off one of these tables so y'all can sit there". As she was cleaning the table, I tried to remain positive just because I wanted a waffle. My husband kept asking me if I was sure about eating here. I knew by him repetitiously asking me that question, he wanted to leave. I then told Ann that we were going to leave and dine elsewhere. She then began to say "I don't blame you. And y'all need to call corporate and complain and tell them about their bug problem and how dirty this building is. There's only so much I can do and I'm fed up with this place." I just looked in awe as she was saying this to us. As bad as I wanted to tell her how lazy she seemed and how slow she was moving things could be a lot cleaner. I wanted to address her attitude, customer service skills and professionalism but didn't. I just shook my head and left. I took a picture of the floor behind the counter where she and the other employees have to work. There was standing water, food and trash all on the floor. The health department really needs to pay that place a visit. Its ridiculously insane how this establishment is being able to serve people food under the filthy conditions its being kept in. I will be calling corporate to make a complaint about my observations of the place and our experience with her, as she requested. read more

I get to go to Waffle House maybe once every other year. I'm not from the South. We don't have them in Chicago. That said, waffle house makes the best breakfast food the least amount of money can buy. Imagine my absolute glee when I realized there was one next door to the hotel I was staying in. I ate dinner at the hotel. A few hours later, I remembered the Waffle House. Breakfast any time. World-Famous hash browns. I caved. Their omelets are so fluffy. Their grits are awesome.. But what takes the cake is the hash browns. They're out-of-this-world good. Since most of you reading this probably already know about the food, I'll close with talking about the service and quality of this particular location. The waitresses are sweet and full of Southern hospitality. The restaurant is clean... Cleaner than I'd expect for sure. Waffle House is one of my favorite places to go. I go with my friends almost every year when my semester ends for school. When I have much on my mind, I can find myself with my computer or someone to talk to at the Waffle House. Something is soothing about being at the waffle house. Every time I go to waffle house I want to order pancakes, and have to remind myself they don't SERVE pancakes! (Funny right?) But never the less I enjoy their double waffles, bacon, and sausage. I have seen many of my friends get the All-Star special and they seem to enjoy it. No matter when I go, may it be at 12am or 12 pm, the food taste good. The locations are not that bad. I live close to one. I have also always felt at home by the staff. I have never had a bad experience while being at the South Waffle House. I would highly recommend to get a real southern relaxing time and meal, to go to the Waffle House! read more

Ok,the food is good and with eating here. However, they need to turn down the music, its seriously loud. This morning was complete chaos, looks like they got tore up on the last shift. Took forever to get coffee and 3 tries to get creamer. Was there 45 minutes before I got to order. The man that ordered immediately after me,got his first and was almost finished before I even got part of my breakfast. Had to keep asking for the rest of my order.
