We order the All star with eggs over easy (cooked perfectly) & grits...perfect. Toast was still hot when served. The pecan waffle had scattered pecans and was hot and fresh, not overcooked! My hash-browns were scattered and crisp with the perfect edges. My ham was hot and fresh off the grill. The team behind the counter was working together! No one was disgruntled. We haven't been to a Waffle House in 50 years and won't ever go back. The place was noisy dirty dishes behind the counter, food was not cooked well and lacked flavor. This was my first time at a Waffle House, and I actually really enjoyed my experience! Parking was easy since they have a parking lot, and we were seated almost immediately, even though it was 8:30 AM on a Saturday. Our server, Deb, was so nice and friendly and even helped us save some money by combining the individual orders of people. Thank you so much Deb! I went with the All-Star Special since it came recommended on the menu, and it did not disappoint. It was a solid breakfast that kept me full for the next six hours! It was a typical busy Waffle House Sunday morning. Eric, the 'host', sometimes took names, sometimes didn't take names, and seated everyone against the windows. He then seated people out of the order in which they arrived. After seating two parties who arrived after me, I pointed out to him that I had arrived before those who he seated. That's when he got a surly attitude. He then seated me at a four-top which had dirty dishes on it. Made no sense in seating a single diner at a four-top during a busy time. arrived just after midnight. door locked but there's a cook and a server and guests inside. pull the door handle. cook looks right at us and ignores us. we pull a couple more times. we knock. they ignore us. we enter as one of the tables leaves. we walk in. they tell us the dining room is closed after midnight. to go orders only. okay. why didn't you come to the door and tell us that? i even saw the sign on the window which says "TO GO ORDERS AFTER MIDNIGHT." what it does not say is "to go orders ONLY after midnight." i really appreciate how the official corporate signage isn't specific in its meaning and the employees treat you like idiots for reading it as it was written. read more

Today 3-11-24 a couple friends and I came into Waffle House located 7809 E Ben White Blv Austin. Initially everything was great, the employees had upbeat personalities and great service. My issue is during our time here an employee whom we believe is the manager began cleaning ceiling tiles directly over the food in the kitchen. We watched as dirt and debris fell from the ceiling tiles directly on waffles , coffee , waters , & etc . We even received a water that had some of this dirt and debris in it. We asked our server to speak to a manager and the gentleman who was doing the cleaning came over to us. We respectfully told him that we are watching him clean and the dirt is falling onto food and drinks. All he said was "oh ok" at that point we told him we will pay for our coffees and walk out. He then said "enjoy your day" and went back to cleaning ceiling tiles in the kitchen. What makes this worse is while cleaning some dirt fell from the tiles onto the employees face and he wiped his face to get it off. So there is no way he can say it wasn't happening. This is the lowest point of food quality I've ever witnessed in person and should be looked into swiftly. For us to tell him something and completely disregard our issues is horrible customer service. read more

You guys should be ashamed of the state of this location this morning. My daughter and I dropped off a friend at the airport and went to grab an early morning bite at the Ben White location. There wasn't a single customer in the store, but every table had dirty plates on it and there was not a single spot for us to sit that didn't need to be cleaned. If that wasn't enough, the older gentleman looked at the hostess and said "where do you want them to sit?" To which she replied, "I'm getting off soon, I can't deal with all this right now." At this point she comes to the counter and tells us that "We can make you something, but we're only doing To-Go's". I declined, we left. I am disappointed to walk into a WH and see people who don't care. We're sorry for bothering you this morning, but the four of you working there should be ashamed of the way your restaurant looks. There wasn't a single guest in their and it was a disaster. It says 24/7 on the door, if you can't keep up with the hours you agreed to, find something else. Small with few options and not a lot of seating (don't come with more than 4 in your group). Was stopping for gas, but I ended up stopping for Waffle House instead. My lady and I were driving to the airport to head back to LAX. I needed to fill up on gas a bit so I got off at the nearest exit. Upon arrival, I noticed the gas was too overpriced for my liking. Right as I was about to leave, I noticed a Waffle House. I had tried all the amazing local Austin BBQ spots but hadn't tried any waffle houses while here, so I decided to hop in for a quick waffle. I was greeted with a warm inviting atmosphere and friendly people. I ordered just one waffle to try out and the server was friendly. My waffle was made very quickly by the experienced cook and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the waffle was. Very flavorful and warm. If I ever come back to Texas I'll be sure to order more from this Waffle House. I'm in agreement when others call this place a waffle home since it's filled with such warmth and friendliness. read more

Please don't go here. If you are looking for the Waffle House fluffy omelet experience, you will not find it here. I am embarrassed to say I have been coming here off and on for the last five years. The food and cleanness have gotten worse each time. I think it can't get any worse, but they succeed. The last time I was here, the milkshake blender they use to scramble the eggs wasn't working. I don't know if it was still broken this morning but my omelet sure was NOT fluffy. The last few times I came here, the cook really did not know how to cook a Waffle House omelet. The grease was not hot enough, so the eggs soaked up the grease (yuck). This visit I ordered a cheese omelet. I was served an over-cooked HAM and cheese omelet. I didn't eat it. Yes, I tried to get the servers attention to get the order corrected but I was ignored. This visit was the last straw for me! The staff never asked why I didn't touch the omelet or how I liked my meal. I think the staff knows the food is not up to the Waffle House franchise standards. This particular location has always been dirty. This time was around 4:00 AM and it was MORE filthy than usual. Flies were buzzing around, food on the floor both in the cooking area and the sitting area. Almost all the tables were dirty. A customer came in after I was seated and he exclaimed to his companions, "We lucked out and got a clean table." Apparently, clean tables are so rare here that a clean one is considered a treat by the regular customers. None of the Austin area Waffle Houses are that great. None of them appear to use the butter flavored cooking oil. I wish Waffle House, INC would make them remove the Waffle House name and badging as they give Waffle House a bad name. I have passed this Waffle House a zillion times. I kept wanting to give it a try as I used to eat at Waffle Houses long ago when they were able to prepare food from scratch and not have restrictions about food preparation and contents from the Food Police, etc. I was worried that I would simply be disappointed. I was not. There was a number of employees working when I stopped in before going to a YELP event. There were not a lot of patrons, and I grabbed a stool at the counter. Now, there is an art to this. You don't want to be by the cash register, but farther down the counter near the coffee. I picked out a simple scrambled egg, toast, hash browns and ham breakfast. It was quickly prepared. I was immediately served coffee, and 2 refills during the meal. The food was good, but of course not as good as long ago. However, it was filling, cheap and a nice nostalgic memory. The server that took care of my meal also cooked, and that is something I like to see. read more

Waffle House (Feb. 24, 2023) This is my first visit to a Waffle House. It was right after a red eye flight to Chicago, followed by a connection to Austin, TX. I was unclear what exactly to expect at the restaurant, but the latest offer displayed on its website - All Star Special - was a great value, and could not be ignored given the chain is known for its breakfast. The location (7809 E Ben White Blvd, Austin, TX 78744) is closest to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. After a short 20 minute bus ride (Traveling cheap again.), I was seated in a not very busy restaurant around the noon hour. The staff were pleasant, and the atmosphere was upbeat. I was surprised that you can actually see the exposed kitchen where the majority of the meal was prepared. Besides the All Star Special (with an extra serving of hash brown), I added a coffee and an orange juice to complete the meal. I let the waitress decide on the meat choice, and ended up with a thick slice of ham (Surprisingly good!).The OJ was freshly squeezed (Another surprise!), and added a lot to the dining experience. The large waffle that came with the special was excellent, but arrived some time later after the rest of the meal was served. Throughout my time there, most of the business was take-out and a lot of those were for the All Star Special. I was particularly impressed to see one of the managers (I presume?!) actually mopping the restaurant floors while the rest of the staff were working. One thing I love about Waffle House is that it is always there 24/7, so you can meet any cravings at all hours. Once you walk in, one of the staff members will greet you. You will most likely hear good music playing from the moment you walk in. The waffles are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the bacon is perfection. The coffee is okay and tastes like regular diner coffee. It's good if you need a quick caffeine fix. I had the pleasure of eating the chili and was not disappointed. It was flavorful and filling. I recommend it if you want something with good protein and low calories. The eggs are prepared and taste like perfection. Especially on those late nights with your friends! Depending on the time and how busy the wait staff can be slow to respond to you or will be efficient and friendly.
