This was our first stop after arriving in Austin and it was a cute little retro drive-thru. The root beer milkshake immediately caught my eye. Essentially it's a root beer float blended altogether, but it tasted really good and I liked how thick it was. I had a cheeseburger, but honestly it wasn't anything too special. The bread was a little bit dry, but at least the meat was juicy. The highlight was definitely their fries! Whatever seasoning they use was delicious and I liked the special sauce on the side, so that's why I'm rounding up to 4 stars! If you are looking to cross off a Texas staple from your list then you should definitely make a quick stop here, even if it's just for a milkshake and fries. read more

Kept seeing these around Austin and finally stopped here for lunch. The double cheeseburger was the bomb!! Get a #4 with a Dr Pepper or one their shakes and you won't regret it. We came here and very much enjoyed it. There wasn't much of a wait in the drive through line, which was nice. And the food was delicious! Their fries were on point. P Terry's is a good cheeseburger spot overall. However this location is the worst by far. The drive thru service is awful. The workers are miserable and don't try to hide it. The poor food quality is why I am writing this review. Old cheeseburgers and soggy overly salty fries. I hope the owners sees this review and decide to mystery shop this location and see for themselves. My family and I have been eating at pterrys for years. It's a great value and best fast food around. We love everything on their menu, burgers, fries, lemonade, egg burgers, cookies and milkshakes. I've loved P Terry's for over a decade, but what the heck is going on with this location? We ordered two diet cokes, a bacon burger, fries, and a grilled chicken patty. We got two regular cokes, a burger with no bacon (even though we paid for bacon), a fried chicken patty, and fries. Pretty annoying. One of the diet cokes was for me, and I don't drink sugar, and the chicken was for the dog, who can't have grease. My husband just wanted bacon, but didn't get what he paid for. This was my first time every trying this place and was so happy I did! We had a great experience and everything was fresh! Many of the reviews I was reading was comparing it to in and out. I saw these drive thrus all over Austin and knew I had to visit one before I left. This location is near the airport. The menu is short, but the prices are fair. One of my fave places to get a burger when I am in Austin. P. Terry's! The burgers are really good! They used high quality beef and ingredients. I am always impressed that you can get a really good meal here at a very good price. I always get their bacon cheeseburger that is always made to order and you can also tell they use fresh ingredients. The people that work their are really nice as well. They get your order out pretty quick here which is good. The only knock about this location is there is not a place to eat on the inside. They only have picnic tables. Today it was raining too lol. We love P. Terry's. The burgers are simple and classic. The ingredients are fresh and local. This means we can eat a burger and not feel like crap afterwards. The French fries are always hit or miss based on the cook, time of day, etc. they can be a bit softer, or rock hard, or anywhere in between. It's definitely their most inconsistent cook experience. The milkshakes are a treat every now and again and they're always perfect and classically simple. All in all, there's really nothing bad to say. If you want a burger and fries and you've been going to in-n-out or whattaburger then you're going to LOVE p. Terry's. This particular location is a bit of a tough spot to navigate. It's amazing having this location by the airport. But getting in and out with that flow of traffic is rough. Hey P Terry's I love you but I what I really love is getting a double cheeseburger with one veggie patty and one beef patty. However, when I did it this time I was told I cannot sub one of the double cheeseburger patties for a veggie patty and instead I would have to order a veggie burger And be charged three dollars to add one beef patty. My custom burger cost me nearly 8 dollars versus 4.85 for a double cheeseburger. Why in the world would you charge your customer so much of a premium for a simple modification that clearly cannot cost you that much money? This is a simple customer obsessed choice . I would tell everyone that I prefer P Terry's over In & Out! And I stand by it! Apparently they have grown around Austin in the last 10 years but I'm gonna need them to find their way to Houston too! PT Terry's is the place that IN-N-OUT burger wishes it could be. Not a massive menu. All fresh. Fast service. Austin original. If you really hungry... the burgers are on the small side so keep that in mind but they taste good. For a bigger fare Ask for the "P Scary" Four patties, four slices of cheese, grilled onions, jalapeños, bacon, mustard, and special sauce. They also have chicken sandwich and black bean sandwich. And Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. And just for perspective, my fast food ranking remains top to bottom: Becks Prime, Whataburger, Burger King, Fast Freddie's, Health Camp in Waco, Storms, PT Terrys, Wendy's, IN-N-OUT, Jack-in-the-box and in last place McDonalds. Excellent burgers that are good quality ingredients. Employees are always very friendly. We asked them to cut the double burger in half for sharing, they did. This is super convenient location to the airport as you are leaving the airport, not arriving to airport. We stopped by P Terry's on our way out of the airport and got a #1 which is a hamburger combo and a# 2 which is a cheeseburger combo. Both combos were a little over $6 each. I got the cheeseburger on wheat and added jalapeños (which was chopped jalapeños). It was delish! The fries are decent. Burgers are good, but I think jalapeños was what made the burger for me! Service was friendly and quick. They also have lemonade, shakes, chicken sandwich, veggie burger, oatmeal raisin cookies, etc. Will definitely consider P Terry's again the next time we crave a burger while in Austin. read more

I ordered a double chocolate milkshake, nothing else. The attendant handed me my "shake" and it was immediately apparent that this was not a shake, it was completely liquid, 0% frozen chocolate milk. To her credit, when I called her out on it she immediately offered me a refund. She didn't offer to fix it, which implies that they knew that their shake machine was spitting out liquid instead of a shake. The beverage I received was fully liquid and there is no possibility that the person pulling it would see it exiting the machine and not recognize the problem. There was no line, I was the only customer period, it wasn't a hot day and it was nowhere near open or close, in short, no good reason for it whatsoever. They just tried to pull one over on me. McDonald's has a current class action lawsuit because of this type of crap. Until today I expected better, a lot better, from P. Terry's. Fool me once. read more
